• Gridview inside UpdatePanel refresh

  I use a GridView to represent data from a table in my DB. the GridView has some template fields whose content are determined before displaying the Grid ( I use the RowDataBound event to determine content of template fields before displaying the GridView). The page displays a list of records from the table records and then, the recording process starts. after the process is over, the template fields should be updated. how do I automatically refresh the GridView after the process is finished ? it should be noted that the GridView is contained within an control and that I continuously poll the server using a Timer control that executes "GridView1.DataBind()" at the server level every 60 seconds. since the GridView is inside an UpdatePanel, calling DataBind() method on it doesn't seem to call the RowDataBound event. How can I solve this ?

Our requirement is to encrypt text file when Administrator enter data using GUI and save it. That encrypted file would be input for Operator and they just need to select it and use that file. Here file should be automatically decrypt data for further calculation when Operator select those files. Please help me which encryption/ decryption technique should i use?

• What is the universal way to use file I/O API with unicode filenames?

  In Windows there is a common problem: the filenames should be converted to local codepage, before they are passed to open(). Of course, there is a possibility to use Win32::API for that, but I don't want my script to be platform-dependent. At the moment I have to write something like: open IN, "<", encode("cp1251", $filename) or die $!; but is there any library, that hides these details? I think the local codepage can be automatically detected, so I just want to pass unicode filename and forget about the details. Why is it still not in the box?

  I would like to automatically determine all of the properties (including the hidden ones) in a given Javascript object, via a generalization of this function: function keys(obj) { var ll = []; for(var pp in obj) { ll.push(pp); } return ll; } This works for user defined objects but fails for many builtins: repl> keys({"a":10,"b":2}); // ["a","b"] repl> keys(Math) // returns nothing! Basically, I'd like to write equivalents of Python's dir() and help(), which are really useful in exploring new objects. My understanding is that only the builtin objects have hidden properties (user code evidently can't set the "enumerable" property till HTML5), so one possibility is to simply hardcode the properties of Math, String, etc. into a dir() equivalent (using the lists such as those here). But is there a better way?

• Prevent Java from parsing the command line parameters

  Would like to make anapplication in Java that will not automatically parse parameters used on the command-line. Currently, java requires public static void main(string[]) as the entry point signature. I would like just a single string that I parse myself. Can this be done at all? Here's an example: java MyProgram.class Hello World I would want it to give me Hello World without requiring quotes around that string. I would even settle for java giving me the entire java MyProgram.class Hello World. I'm thinking this is something beyond Java and has more to do with the shell.

• Getting "too many rows" error inside a "for" cursor loop

  I have a trigger that contains two cursors loops, one nested inside the other like this: FOR outer_rec IN outer_cursor LOOP FOR inner_rec IN inner_cursor LOOP -- Do some calculations END LOOP; END LOOP; Somewhere in this it is throwing the following error: ORA-01422: exact fetch returns more than requested number of rows I've been trying to determine where it's coming from for an hour or so.. but should this error never happen? Also.. I am assuming the inner loop automatically closes and opens itself again every time the outer loop goes the next record, i hope this is correct.

  We are using PostgreSQL. My requirement is to delete unused sequences from my database. For example, if I create any table through my application, one sequence will be created, but for deleting the table we are not deleting the sequence, too. If want to create the same table another sequence is being created. Example: table: file; automatically created sequence for id coumn: file_id_seq When I delete the table file and create it with same name again, a new sequence is being created (i.e. file_id_seq1). I have accumulated a huge number of unused sequences in my application database this way. How to delete these unused sequences?

• Blackberry browser problem

  Hi all, I have one site to test, when I run it with my BrowserFieldDemo (in JDE sample)m just display text site, but with the same link, run on Blackberry native browser, it displays properly, and have Zoom in function to zoom. I think the problem here is the size of my site, it's too large. I've tried some different sites and see that the result is same on two browsers, but with this test site, it's unexpected result. Anyone can suggest some solutions for me to fix it? Or explain for me how Blackberry browser can know to resize web page automatically (when it loads the large web page). Thank for any help,

  I'm writing a Settlers of Catan clone for a class. One of the extra credit features is automatically determining which player has the longest road. I've thought about it, and it seems like some slight variation on depth-first search could work, but I'm having trouble figuring out what to do with cycle detection, how to handle the joining of a player's two initial road networks, and a few other minutiae. How could I do this algorithmically? For those unfamiliar with the game, I'll try to describe the problem concisely and abstractly: I need to find the longest possible path in an undirected cyclic graph.

  Hello. 'Smart Tabs' concept allows to automatically insert tab character for block indentation and space characters for in-block formatting. It's described here. Unfortunately, Visual Studio's 'smart tabs' option in text editor settings just indents text on enter press. Same name, completely different and near useless thing :). So, maybe someone knows of a visual studio addin that can change how 'tab' key work so it will insert tab characters and space characters according to rules mentioned above? Any hints are welcome.

• Need url's to be non secure when moving away from a secured link (without hardcoded url's in html)?

  I have an asp.net site. It has an order form which is accessible at https://secure.example.com/order.aspx. The links on the site do not include the domain name. So for example the home page is 'default.aspx'. The issue is that if I click on a link like the home page from the secure page, the url becomes https://secure.example.com/default.aspx instead of http://www.example.com/default.aspx. What's a good way to handle this? The scheme should automatically work using any domain name based on where it's launched from. So if the site is launched from 'localhost', moving away from the secured page, the url's should be http://localhost/... The navigation links are in a master page.

• UIActionsSheet text shadow problem

  I have a problem with the text shadow of the UIActionSheet buttons. At iOS 4.0.2 long string were truncated automatically. No at iOS 4.2 these texts are presented with a smaller font. But now the offset of the shadow is corrupted and to big. Is there a possibility to change/remove the text shadow of the UIActionSheet. EDIT: I'm building the UIActionSheet not with initWithTitle:, but with the normal init and sets all needed properties afterwards because the number of possible buttons is dynamic and the texts cannot be change. I've tested it with initWithTitle: and got the same results.

• Best memory settings for eclipse 4.2 (STS 3.1) on Windows 7 64 bit?

  I apoligize in advance if this question is indeed too subjective as SO warns me. My workstation has 8 gb of ram and runs windows 7 64 bit. I use the Spring tool Suite (3.1) but as soon as i am starting to open and modify the spring config (.xml) files, STS becomes incredibly slow. I already tried switching off "build automatically" and to increase memory settings but no luck. • Format MySQL code inside PHP string

  Is there any program IDE or not that can format MySQL code inside PHP string e.g. I use PHPStorm IDE and it cannot do it. It does that for PHP and MYSQL but not for MYSQL inside php string. I am ready to use new IDE because now i have to manually format hundreds of database requests that are one line and not readable. Only criteria for my choice is that ide can do that automatically. <?php ... $request1 = "select * from tbl_admin where admin_id= {$_SESSION['admin_id']} and active= 1 order By admin_id Asc"; ... ?> should become <?php ... $request1 = "SELECT * FROM tbl_admin WHERE admin_id = {$_SESSION['admin_id']} AND active = 1 ORDER BY admin_id ASC"; ... ?>

  I need to design a "Conditions of Use" dialog that is presented to users after they logon to Windows XP. It must not allow the user to proceed until they check an "I agree" box. It must not be possible to shut it using Task Manager or any other method. And it should be fullscreen and modal. The "I agree" will remain checked automatically during subsequent logins for the duration of 1 month, after which the user will need to check it again. Also HR want to track who has checked the checkbox. Is such a thing possible using .Net? I can use C# to design it but I'm not sure about how to prevent users from bypassing the dialog. I know Windows Group Policy allows a dialog to be presented before login, but that does not allow a checkbox or any customization. Any thoughts?

  Is this technology still popular? I want to make a website which automatically transforms XSLT files. It should work like this: When a user accesses the site, a single handler would accept his request and then find a suitable XML for it (according to the URL requested) and transform it using its attached XSL file. I want to do this in order to make it easy to update the site using plain XML files (instead of using a full-fledged & expensive CMS system).   I have a problem with an animation in jQuery using ajax. On the click of an button (actually an tag), I call a ajax method, and have the following written inside the success parameter: success: function(msg) { $('.ContentsMainRight').children().fadeOut(500, function() { $('.ContentsMainRight').html(msg.d); $('.ContentsMainRight').children().fadeIn(1000); }); }, This have the following result. The contents of a div fade out over 500ms as it's supposed to. Then the html contents of the div are swapped, but then the last part did not work as I hoped. The html returned by the ajax method include some text inside a tag, and a image inside a tag. The result is that the text is automatically displayed instantly with no fadein, but the img that is put fades in over 1 second. Why is the text and image treated differently? -Daemon

• Can pydoc/help() hide the documentation for inherited class methods and attributes?

  When declaring a class that inherits from a specific class: class C(dict): added_attribute = 0 the documentation for class C lists all the methods of dict (either through help(C) or pydoc). Is there a way to hide the inherited methods from the automatically generated documentation (the documentation string can refer to the base class, for non-overwritten methods)? or is it impossible? This would be useful: pydoc lists the functions defined in a module after its classes. Thus, when the classes have a very long documentation, a lot of less than useful information is printed before the new functions provided by the module are presented, which makes the documentation harder to exploit (you have to skip all the documentation for the inherited methods until you reach something specific to the module being documented).

• SubSonic Change DropDown Value for Load Drops SUB

  I used the subsonic generator to create some aspx pages, It works fine. On some of the pages it automaticaly generated the dropdown boxes for foreign key values. How Can change that value in the load drops code? Or where I need to change it. For instance I have a workers table and a workersweek table. The workers table has a workerid,firstname and lastname field and the workersweek has a workerID field. The generator automatically set it up to show the firstname in the dropdown. I want to change the value to be both firstname and lastname. I am sure I will have to add code that does something like firstname + " " + Lastname. I am just not sure where to do it withing the code that was generated. I see the load drops sub, but it does not seem like that is the one I need to modify.

  Hi, My c++ program needs to maintain 2 list of objects. list inuse; list free; So objects A can even in 'inuse' list or in 'free' list, but not both. http://www.cplusplus.com/reference/stl/list/ I am think of using 'list' as the data structure for my lists. My questions are 1. why i can't randomly access an elmenet in the list, I look at the above api, I don't see a way to get inuse[2]; 2. How can I remove an element in the list? There is an erase(), but how can I use it to remove element #2? And after I remove element 2? will STL list fill the erased spot automatically? e.g. #3 will become #2, #4 will become #3 and so on?   Hello, I found the discussion on Do you test private method informative. I have decided, that in some classes, I want to have protected methods, but test them. Some of these methods are static and short. Because most of the public methods make use of them, I will probably be able to safely remove the tests later. But for starting with a TDD approach and avoid debugging, I really want to test them. I thought of the following: Method Object as adviced in an answer seems to be overkill for this. Start with public methods and when code coverage is given by higher level tests, turn them protected and remove the tests. Inherit a class with a testable interface making protected methods public Which is best practice? Is there anything else? It seems, that JUnit automatically changes protected methods to be public, but I did not have a deeper look at it. PHP does not allow this via reflection.

  I have a Visual Studio project that uses a solution file to build it. I want to generate a makefile so that I can build it using the makefile instead of the solution file. (The reason I need to do this in case you are wondering is that I am incorporating my project into a larger software system that uses makefiles to build, and I want to be able to build the whole thing using the makefiles.) Is there a way to automatically get the information from the Visual Studio solution and convert it into a makefile format, or do I need to do that manually?
