  • How to get Path Separator in Perl?

    In case of Java, we can get the path separator using System.getProperty("path.separator"); Is there a similar way in Perl? All I want to do is to find a dir, immediate sub directory. Say I am being given two argumens $a and $b; I am splitting the first one based on the path separator and joining it again except the last fragment and comparing with the second argument. The problem is my code has to be generic and for that I need to know whats the system dependent path separator is? Could you help if there is any way to get it? TIA

  • CSS: Centering a floated block level element in IE6 (It almost works)

    I have a block level element which I am centering on the page. I have gotten it to work for all other browsers except IE6 where it ALMOST works. http://tinyurl.com/28sh9eq If I view the page in IE6 the red box is slightly off center of the pink one in IE. If I then resize the browser window it snaps into place where I want it. Uhhhhh.... yea.... what gives? How come resizing the window makes it work?   • How can I change ruby log level in unit tests based on context

    I'm new to ruby so forgive me if this is simple or I get some terminology wrong. I've got a bunch of unit tests (actually they're integration tests for another project, but they use ruby test/unit) and they all include from a module that sets up an instance variable for the log object. When I run the individual tests I'd like log.level to be debug, but when I run a suite I'd like log.level to be error. Is it possible to do this with the approach I'm taking, or does the code need to be restructured? Here's a small example of what I have so far.     Hello everyone, I am using SQL Server 2008 Enterprise with VSTS 2008, and I am developing a simple web application using ASP.Net and Forms Authentication. When I am using the configuration tool/menu of VSTS of my ASP.Net project (I want to use this tool to manually add some Forms authentication users), I met with the following error (SqlException), Trying to attach file D:\Projects\MyTest\App_Data\aspnetdb.mdf to automatically named database failed. It may be caused by existing the same name database, or may be caused by specified file can not be opened or caused by the specified file exists in UNC share. In my computer, there is no aspnetdb.mdf under dir D:\Projects\MyTest\App_Data, and I have used aspnet_regsql to generate database successfully before I run the configuration tool. Why there is such error? How to fix it? thanks in advance, George

    the situation: a user on the page in question selects a category from a dropdown which then dynamically populates all the users of that category in a second dropdown beside it. all the data is being retrieved using LinqtoSQL and i was wondering if this can be done a) using html.dropdownlist in a strongly typed view? b) using jquery to trigger the ajax request on selected index change instead of a 'populate' button trigger? sorry i dont have code as what i was trying really wasnt working at all.     I'm creating an application that collects users location (Cell broadcast location code) and saves that location with a name of users option, for example say my CB location code is 546034, now my app allows me to store that location code with a name of my choice say 'Home'. So, essentially my app has that following modules, To collect users CB location. To collect a custom name from user of that location. To store these values in a database. I've succeeded in doing all the above modules. I have a sub-module for my third module which has an option for user, of showing and deleting the database values, the screen shot looks as follows, Now, Users should be able to view and delete entries when he chooses the option 'View my database of locations' I've learned how to query my database values and I'm stuck with creating a list view and providing the delete option.     Currently I use an IDE for all my builds and unit tests. Now I have a need to use ant. I found a few simple ant build.xml scripts but they didn't support a separate Junit test/ dir. My projects are structured as follows: src/ com/foo/ com/bar/ test/ -- Mirror of src/, with all *Test.java files. com/foo/ com/bar/ lib/ -- All Java libs, including junit 4. How can a construct a small ant script that builds my src/ and test/ Java classes then runs all my JUnit tests?

    hello everyone, i'm not sure where my errors are lying but here is my scenario... i have an un-ordered list in html that handles my main link bar... <ul id="navlist"> <li><a href="/" id="current">home</a></li> <li><a href="#" id="search">search</a></li> <li><a href="#" id="users">login</a></li> </ul> and what i want done is to call each id and have jQuery handle each and dislpay it where specified in my css file... for now, lets just ignore my "home" link... here is a snippet of my inline jquery $(document).ready(function() { $("a").click(function () { $("div#login").slideToggle("fast"); }); }) Now, whichever div i specify, it calls that ... however it will only call one div, using either from the un-orderd list, as mentioned above in the html. My Goal is to call a search bar when search is clicked, and to call a login box when login is clicked. to my knowledge (noob), i believe use an as a class, however that is what brings me here. i believe my error is in my jquery and not my css, as stated above, either instance will be displayed when the jquery function calls either tag. any help is greatly appreciated. thanks in advance shan2on

  • How can I programmatically determine if my workstation is locked?

    I'm writing up some productivity/metrics tools for myself to help monitor my focus throughout the day. Recently, I've noticed that I tend to get off track more than usual and feel the need to get up and go for walks/drinks/etc and I'm concerned that I'm "wasting" too much time. Since I always lock my computer when I go anywhere, and I unlock it as soon as I return (even if I'm just reading at my desk, etc), I was wondering how I can determine, in code, how long the machine is locked. I'm writing this in C# if that helps, but I'm open to other ideas. I like the windows service idea (and have accepted it) for simplicity and cleanliness, but unfortunately I don't think it will work for me in this particular case. I wanted to run this on my workstation at work rather than home (or in addition to home, I suppose), but it's locked down pretty hard courtesy of the DoD. That's part of the reason I'm rolling my own, actually. I'll write it up anyway and see if it works. Thanks everyone!

    I had been working on this trying the delete message button to work on my own profile page of my site. When I delete a message left by a friend it not only deletes it from the screen but deletes it from the database. The messages in the database have 4 fields: message_id, from, to and message.     I'm going to have a ton of subclasses, so want to organize them under a subfolder called stream. I added the following line to the environment.rb so that all classes in the subfolder would be loaded: Rails::Initializer.run do |config| ... config.load_paths += Dir["#{RAILS_ROOT}/app/models/*"].find_all { |f| File.stat(f).directory? } ... end I thought this would solve the issue in which by convention the model class is namespaced into an according module. However, when I try to call one of the classes called stream in the stream folder, I get the following error: NoMethodError: undefined method `new' for Stream:Module from (irb):28 from /usr/local/bin/irb:12:in `<main>' Here's the model for the parent and one child: class Stream end class EventStream < Stream end Any idea what the issue is?

Folder structure: Folder1/analysis.m Folder1/meas_dynamic_123.dcm My script (analysis.m) begins as follows: target =''; <== here should go the full path to the file + filename example: /Volumes/Data/Folder1/meas_dynamic_123.m txt = dir(target); // etc So I'm wondering if there is a way of when running analysis.m it will: automatically search the folder it's in, grab the full path + filename of file containing string dynamic in the name, insert its full path + name into target variable continue running the script Does anyone have any pointers on how to achieve this?     I have read all the questions I could find on it on SO, but none answers my question. I have a module foo, containing util.py and bar.py. I want to import it in IDLE or python session. How do I go about this? I could find no documentation on how to import modules not in the current directory or the default python PATH. After trying import "<full path>/foo/util.py", and from "<full path>" import util The closest I could get was import imp imp.load_source('foo.util','C:/.../dir/dir2/foo') Which gave me Permission denied on windows 7.

  • Maven + Tomcat acceleration

    I am writing a web application with Maven in the Eclipse IDE, and use Tomcat servlet container. So, I run Maven like this: mvn clean compile. It is reasonable that after this oepration I must re-run Tomcat so it can reinitialize the context (Sysdeo Tomcat launcher helps a lot). The problem is Maven execution and subsequebt Tomcat re-running takes noticable amount of time (like 10+ seconds for Maven and 20+ sec. for Tomcat, because of logging, Hibernate mappings, etc.) every time I do it. Is there any automated and more faster solution for these two operatioins? As I see it, a way better solution can be moving re-compiled classes only to the target dir.

  • swf doesn't respond on tomcat

    Hi, I made a war file out of my flex program (includes swf html etc.). I put the war in the tomcat root library (tomcat 6.0.26) I can see that the war was deployed, and i can get to it using http://localhost:8080/dir/myApp.html and see my swf. When i click directly on myApp.html i can see my swf main picture and its buttons in it. But, when i click a button which just popup a message, it doesn't work! On the other hand, When running the mainApp.html from my local drive it works fine. any help?

  • Is this a good approach to execute a list of operations on a data structure in Python?

    I have a dictionary of data, the key is the file name and the value is another dictionary of its attribute values. Now I'd like to pass this data structure to various functions, each of which runs some test on the attribute and returns True/False. One approach would be to call each function one by one explicitly from the main code. However I can do something like this: #MYmodule.py class Mymodule: def MYfunc1(self): ... def MYfunc2(self): ... #main.py import Mymodule ... #fill the data structure ... #Now call all the functions in Mymodule one by one for funcs in dir(Mymodule): if funcs[:2]=='MY': result=Mymodule.__dict__.get(funcs)(dataStructure) The advantage of this approach is that implementation of main class needn't change when I add more logic/tests to MYmodule. Is this a good way to solve the problem at hand? Are there better alternatives to this solution?
