• How to control docking order in C# WinForms

  As the title states, I'm looking for a way to control the order in which the items dock to the top of my control. I've played with the windows form designer, and i cant seem to find what the RightClick->Order->SendToFront is doing, because thats exactly what I want to happen. As far as I can get to happen, as I add my contents to my control, the newest contents is always at the top, and I'd like for the Newer contents to be on the bottom, and the oldest contents to be at the top. Summery: Is there an easy way in WinForms (C#), to control the order in which things dock to the sides of controls?

• ruby 1.9: invalid byte sequence in UTF-8

  I'm writing a crawler in ruby (1.9) that consumes lots of HTML from a lot of random sites. When trying to extract links, I decided to just use .scan(/href="(.*?)"/i) instead of nokogiri/hpricot (major speedup). The problem is that I now receive a lot of "invalid byte sequence in UTF-8" errors. From what I understood, the net/http library doesn't have any encoding specific options and the stuff that comes in is basically not properly tagged. What would be the best way to actually work with that incoming data? I tried .encode with the replace and invalid options set, but no success so far...

I want to do result order. SELECT * FROM dblist where word like 'sim' or word like 'sim%' or word like '%sim%' or word like '%sim' equal sim is a frist , sim% is second and %sim% is a thrid and then %sim is a last. Currently I can't sort like mysql in sqlite. How to change sql to order the result ?

• Receive data in same order as that of NSOperationQueue

  Hi, I have an NSOperationQueue, in which I keep on adding NSOperation objects that hit server and brings data. Is there a way to store the received data in the order in which they were fired? For example, suppose the A, B and C objects are added in NSOperationQueue in the order ABC. Now each of the three A, B and C will bring data in their corresponding threads. I want to store the results in the same order in an array so that the contents of array becomes "Result A", "Result B" and "Result C". Please provide a solution or a direction towards the right answer for this problems. Thanks Guys Basically, I want to design an autosuggest component which brings data from server (same as in google app), and I thought NSOperationQueue to be the best method to implement this. Currently I set the maxConcurrentOperationCount to 1, but I want to set it to more than 1, as data comes from the server very slowly.   If I need to convert an int to byte[] I could use Bitconvert.GetBytes(). But if I should follow this: An XDR signed integer is a 32-bit datum that encodes an integer in the range [-2147483648,2147483647]. The integer is represented in two's complement notation. The most and least significant bytes are 0 and 3, respectively. Integers are declared as follows: Taken from RFC1014 3.2. What method should I use then if there is no method to do this? How would it look like if you write your own? I don't understand the text 100% so I can't implement it on my own.

• Store JsTree order back into database

  Hi I am using JsTree and got some of it working with my database. Such as deleting a node, renaming a node, etc. I am having problems with saving the ROOT folders order back to the database. When I move the root folders, it doesnt save order. When I move the sub folders around, it saves order fine. Anyone know what I am doing wrong? • JNI unsigned char to byte array

  I'm working with a C++ library that stores image byte data in an array of unsigned characters. My jni function returns a jByteArray (which then gets converted to a BufferedImage on the java side), but I'm not sure how to fill the jByteArray from the unsigned character array (if it is possible). Can anyone provide a snippet for this last part to basically do this: // size is the size of the unsigned char array const int size = 100; unsigned char* buf = new unsigned char[size]; // buf gets passed to another library here to be populated jbyteArray bArray = env->NewByteArray(size); // now how do I get the data from buf to bArray?   Hi, the players: 64bit linux with php 5 (ZendFramework 1.10.2) PostgreSQL 7.3 Doctrine 1.2 Via a Flash/Flex client i get an 8byte integer value. the field in the database is an BIGINT (8 byte) PHP_INT_SIZE show that system supports 8byte integer. printing out the value in the code as it is and as intval() leads to this: Plain: 1269452776100 intval: 1269452776099 float rounding failure ? but what really driving me nuts is ERROR: invalid input syntax for integer: "1269452776099.000000"' when i try to use it in a query. like: Doctrine_Core::getTable('table')->findBy('external_id',$external_id); or Doctrine_Core::getTable('table')->findBy('external_id',intval($external_id)); How i am supposed to handle this ? or how can i give doctrine a floating point number which it should use on a bigint field ? Any help is much appreciated! TIA

• Does the order of readonly variable declarations guarantee the order in which the values are set?

  Say I were to have a few readonly variables for filepaths, would I be able to guarantee the order in which the values are assigned based on the order of declaration? e.g. readonly string basepath = @"my\base\directory\location"; readonly string subpath1 = basepath + @"\abc\def"; readonly string subpath2 = basepath + @"\ghi\klm"; Is this a safe approach or is it possible that basepath may still be the default value for a string at the time subpath1 and subpath2 make a reference to the string? I realize I could probably guarantee the order by assigning the values in a constructor instead of at the time of declaration. However, I believe this approach wouldn't be possible if I needed to declare the variables inside of a static class (e.g. Program.cs for a console application, which has a static void Main() procedure instead of a constructor).

  Hi, I have an array of hashes like following [ { :foo => 'foo', :bar => 2 }, { :foo => 'foo', :bar => 3 }, { :foo => 'foo', :bar => 5 }, ] I am trying to sort above array in descending order according to the value of :bar in each hash. I am using sort_by like following to sort above array. a.sort_by { |h| h[:bar] } However above sorts the array in ascending order. How do I make it sort in descending order? One solution was to do following: a.sort_by { |h| -h[:bar] } But that negative sign does not seem appropriate. Any views?

• Why is floating point byte swapping different from integer byte swapping?

  I have a binary file of doubles that I need to load using C++. However, my problem is that it was written in big-endian format but the fstream operator will then read the number wrong because my machine is little-endian. It seems like a simple problem to resolve for integers, but for doubles and floats the solutions I have found won't work. How can I (or should I) fix this?   I have a simple array of stuff: $array = array("apples","oranges","strawberries"); I am trying to find the order of the stuff inside the array. (sometimes the order changes, and so do the items) I'm expecting to get something like this: "apples" = 0, "oranges = 1, "strawberries = 2 The end result has something to do with database sorting. Something like this, inside a foreach loop: UPDATE tbl SET sortorder = $neworder WHERE fruit = '$fruitname' The $neworder variable would be populated with the new order, inside the array. While the $fruit variable comes from the item inside the array.

  Hi, Take this table: id name sub_id --------------------------- 1 A (null) 2 B (null) 3 A2 1 4 A3 1 The sub_id column is a relation to his owm table, to column ID. subid --- 0:1 --- id Now I have the problem to make a correctly SELECT query to show that the child rows (which sub_id is not null) directly selected under his parent row. So this must be a correctly order: 1 A (null) 3 A2 1 4 A3 1 2 B (null) A normal SELECT order the id. But how or which keyword help me to order this correctly? JOIN isn't possible I think because I want to get all the rows seperated. Because the rows will be displayed on a Gridview (ASP.Net) with EntityDataSource but the child rows must be displayed directly under his parent. Thank you.

  Hi, How can GQL support ORDER BY when it does not support aggregation? The question is - if say the result of the query is more than 1000, does ORDER BY return fully ordered list or only the first 1000 items which is then ordered? To explain the question more: is conceptually MIN() same as query.orderby('asc').fetch(1)? If it is properly ordering the list, then how can it not provide COUNT(), since to properly order the list, GQL possibly has to parse through the whole list - in which case, COUNT() is not an issue at all? Or is item indexed and kept in some type of tree so that it does not need to parse it all the time?

• Best way to order menu items injected by an IoC/plugin Framework

  One of the common things I've seen done in applications built on IoC/plugin frameworks is to add commands to menus or toolbars from the dynamically loaded plugins. For example, the application's default plugins supply actions like "New, Open, Save" that show up in the context menu for a certain item in the workspace. A new plugin may add "Mail, Post, Encrypt" commands, but where do those commands show up in relation to "New, Open, Save"? How can the application that is loading components through IoC impose order on the items that get injected? Does it require metadata from the plugins that give a hint on how to group or order the items? Does it use a config file of previously known menu names (or ids) to define the order (seems a little weak to me)? Or are "unknown" plugins treated as second class citizens and always get dumped into sub menus? Something I've never even imagined (which I'm hoping to see in the answers)

Then ProductName is a Primary Column Group. It works perfect, But it shows the ProductNames in alphabatic order. I want it to show the ProductNames in custom order(defined by me).Like, ProductNo5 in 3rd column, ProductNo8 in 4th column, ProductNo1 in 5th column ... and so on!

  I have a table, tblTags which works in much the same way as StackOverflows tagging system. When I view a tags page, let's say the tag Tutorial I want to display the 10 tags before and after it in alphabetical order. So if we are given the tag Tutorial of ID 30 how can we return a record set in the order resembling: Tap Tart > Tutorial Umbrellas Unicorns Xylaphones I have thought of ways of doing this, badly, in my opinion as they involve retrieving ugly amounts of data. I'm not sure if it's possible to do something along the lines of (pseudo): SELECT RANGE(0 - 30) FROM tblTags ORDER BY Name ASC But how do you know the position of the tutorial tag in the list in an efficient manner without traversing the entire list until you find it? I'm using SQL Server 2008 R2 Express with LINQ if it makes any difference, SQL queries or LINQ would be great answers, thanks!

  ok, here i have some weird question: let say we have some binary file (.log), and sequence of write operations, for example log1, log2, log3 and each has some block size n (raw data). question: can I be sure that log1,log2 and log3 sequences can be written in the correct order in ONE file, even if i have few cache levels (disk hardware and os level)? update very interested in what will be with records order (not with records) if we have software or hardware failure (reboot or another reason). update there can be some percent of write failures, but main question is: will write order stay correct?

  I have a Web Application. Sometimes I want to debug a console app that is within the solution. Why is it that when I right click on it and select debug, it builds every single webpage and libraries, which takes a while. When I look at build dependencies for the console app, it lists everything in the solution as the order and tells me to go to build order to change it. In build order, everything checks out... I only have checked the libraries that this console app needs. I also tried setting this console app as a start up project. Same thing... How do I get it so when I want to debug this console app, it only builds that and runs instead of building the entire solution before running?

• Is map/collection order stable between calls?

  If I have a hash map and iterate over the objects repeatedly, is it correct that I'm not guaranteed the same order for every call? For example, could the following print two lines that differ from each other: Map<String,Integer> map = new HashMap<String,Integer>() {{ put("a", 1); put("b", 2); put("c", 3); }}; System.out.println(map); System.out.println(map); And is this the case for sets and collections in general? If so, what's the best way in case you have to iterate twice over the same collection in the same order (regardless of what order that is)? I guess converting to a list.
