• Snow Leopard upgrade -> reinstalling sqlite3-ruby gem problem

  Hi all, I got ruby 1.8.7 (native compiled), rails 2.3.4, OSX 10.6.2 and also sqlite3-ruby. The error I'm getting when accessing the rails app is NameError: uninitialized constant SQLite3::Driver::Native::Driver::API History: I upgraded to snow leopard by migrating my apps with a FW-cable from my old macbook to the new one. Everything was running perfectly for months, but Yesterday I needed to install watir, which was dependant on rb-appscript, which didn't build due a "wrong architecture" error in libsqlite3.dylib. I figured the build was made on the old machine, so i wanted to rebuild sqlite3-ruby: $ sudo gem uninstall sqlite3-ruby $ sudo gem install sqlite3-ruby Building native extensions. This could take a while... ERROR: Error installing sqlite3-ruby: ERROR: Failed to build gem native extension. /usr/local/bin/ruby extconf.rb checking for fdatasync() in -lrt... no checking for sqlite3.h... yes checking for sqlite3_open() in -lsqlite3... no * extconf.rb failed * Could not create Makefile due to some reason, probably lack of necessary libraries and/or headers. Check the mkmf.log file for more details. You may need configuration options. It seems like the sqlite3 libs are not working properly. I've tried to install macports sqlite3 (sudo port install sqlite3) and use that instead, but with same result... so i rebuild sqlite3 from scratch.. download-configure-make-make install. After that, the gem now builds perfectly, but doesn't work in rails, giving the error in the top of this article. I'm not really sure where to go from here because I've tried the following Rebuild sqlite3 from newest source (http://www.sqlite.org/download.html) Reinstalled sqlite3-ruby (sudo gem uninstall sqlite3-ruby && sudo gem install sqlite3-ruby) Used sqlite3 from macports (sudo port install sqlite3 && sudo gem install sqlite3-ruby) Reinstalled rails (sudo gem install rails sqlite3-ruby ) and updated environment.rb to rails 2.3.5. No avail, I still get this error: NameError: uninitialized constant SQLite3::Driver::Native::Driver::AP from /usr/local/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/activesupport-2.3.5/lib/active_support/dependencies.rb:105:in const_missing' from /usr/local/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/sqlite3-ruby-1.2.5/lib/sqlite3/driver/native/driver.rb:76:in open' from /usr/local/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/sqlite3-ruby-1.2.5/lib/sqlite3/database.rb:76:in `initialize' Btw, I have Xcode installed from the Snow Leopard CD. What can i do to solve the problem?

• Yahoo OAuth implementation has no way to work offline

  I need to download my Delicious bookmarks to a non-web application without constant user interaction. I'm using Delicious's V2 API (using oAuth) but the problem is it seems their access tokens expire after one hour. I don't have any issues with redirecting the user to Yahoo for a one time authorization, but what is described here (http://developer.yahoo.com/oauth/guide/oauth-refreshaccesstoken.html) means I would have to refresh my access tokens all the time before they expire when the user is away. Is this really the way they've done their oAuth implementation?

  I'm trying to load a bitmap in Android which I want to tile. I'm currently using the following in my view to display a bitmap: canvas.drawBitmap(bitmap, srcRect, destRect, null) I essentially want to use this bitmap as a background image in my app and would like to repeat the bitmap in both the X and Y directions. I've seen the TileMode.REPEAT constant for the BitmapShader class but am unsure if this is to do with repeating he actual bitmap or to do with applying a filter to the bitmap.

  So I'm curious to know what the running time for the algorithm is on on priority queue implemented by a sorted list/array. I know for an unsorted list/array it is O((n^2+m)) where n is the number of vertices and m the number of edges. Thus that equates to O(n^2) time. But would it be faster if i used an sorted list/array...What would the running time be? I know extractmin would be constant time.

I've googled around to find out about 335544972 error code, and it seems to be something about invalid connection string, but I haven't found any "official" info about that.   I have a complex project using SilverLight Toolkit's ListBoxDragDropTarget for drag-drop operations and it is maxing CPU. I tried to reproduce the issue in a small sample project, but then it works fine. The problem persists when I remove our custom styles and all other controls from the page, but the page is hosted in another page's ScrollView. "EnableRedrawRegions" shows that the screen gets redrawn on every frame. My question is this: How can I track down the cause of this constant redrawing?

  I have created a turing-complete programming language (already proven) so it must be possible to write a quine for it, right? But all quines I know store their source code in a string and then replace a special character in it using something like chr and ord. My language only has the following Basic arithmetics Int and string types Variables == operator Conditional gotos I have no idea how I could write a quine as I have no real string manipulation available, I can only output constant strings. • Use only alpha channel of texture in OpenGL?

  Hey, I'm trying to draw a constant color to the framebuffer and blend it using the alpha channel from an RGBA texture. I've been looking at glBlendFunc and glBlendColor, but can't seem to figure out a way to ignore the RGB values from the texture. I'm thinking I'll have to pull out the alpha values myself and make a second texture with GL_ALPHA. Is there a better way to do this? Thanks!

  Given two sorted lists, each containing n real numbers, is there a O(log?n) time algorithm to compute the element of rank i (where i coresponds to index in increasing order) in the union of the two lists, assuming the elements of the two lists are distinct? I can think of using a Merge procedure to merge the 2 lists and then find the A[i] element in constant time. But the Merge would take O(n) time. How do we solve it in O(log n) time?
