  • three monitors with radeon 5870 on 1920x 1080

    - by antoniocs
    Hey! I have 3 monitors, 2 24 inch and one 22 inch. The max resolution of the 24 inch monitors is 1920 x 1080 and the 22 is a bit less (can't remember right now). I read Jeff's post about the display port adapters and I was wondering if passive adapter would do the trick since neither of the monitors have big resolutions. Thanks

  • Increase Linux screen resolution

    - by David Gard
    I'm running an install of CentOS 5.5 virtually and for some reason I only have 2 available screen resolutions - 800x600 and 640x480. Does anybody know how I can add some bigger resolutions? I've had a look in /etc/X11/xorg.conf and it is knows that the graphics card is virtual, but even listing the resolutions that I want fails. Here is the default screen section - Secton "Screen" Identifiew "Screen0" Device "Videocard0" DefaultDepth 24 SubSection "Display" Viewport 0 0 Depth 24 EndSubSection EndSection And here is what I tried adding to SubSection "Display" - Mode "1024x768" "1280x1024"

  • soft lockup - CPU#0 stuck for 11s! error with Xen virtual machines

    - by Arun
    Getting a kernel panic with this error on my XEN VPS's. (all on 8.04 LTS) The kernel version on my Dom-0 is 2.6.24-25-xen and the kernel version on the Xen VPS is also 2.6.24-25-xen. I read something about disabling APIC from here http://muffinresearch.co.uk/archives/2008/08/20/ubuntu-bug-soft-lockup-cpu0-stuck-for-11s/ but that doesn't seem to help as well. Anyone experienced this and are there any workarounds? Thanks in advance!

  • Routing between same networks

    - by osmandfj
    I have two different sites: NetA has a subnet 192.168.2.0/24 NetB has 192.168.1.0/24. The two sites connect each other via IPsec VPN with fortigate devices. I need to move a server with IP address 192.168.2.240 from NetA to NetB and I cannot change its IP address due to some specific reasons. My question is; if I move that server from NetA to NetB, is it possible to reach that server from NetA?

  • Collapsing rows of duplicate dates in a column leaving one row with a subtotal?

    - by Will
    I have several thousand rows of date, time, and values in columns. Each row is contains a date, time for that date, and a value for that time period (hour) So each 24 rows has the same date with each having the next hour of the day. I'd like to collapse or group the 24 rows leaving the last row with a subtotal of the value (column D) to the right in column F. While this can obviously be done manually, several years of data would take a while and there ought to be a way to do this other wise?

  • Session caching problem

    - by Levani
    I have a strange problem with php sessions. I use them for authorization on my site. I store two variables - currently logged in user's id and username in session. When I log in with one username, than log out and log in again with another username the previous user's id is returned using the session variable instead of the current user. The most strange thing is that this happens only when it comes to insert some data into database. When I directly echo this variable the correct id is displayed, but when I insert new record into database this variable sends incorrect id. Here is the php code I use for sending data into database: <?php session_start(); //connect database require_once 'dbc.php'; $authorID = $_SESSION['user_id']; if ( $authorID != 0 ) { $content = htmlentities($_POST["answ_content"],ENT_COMPAT,'UTF-8'); $dro = date('Y-m-d H:i:s'); $qID = $_POST["question_ID"]; $author = 'avtori'; $sql="INSERT INTO comments (comment_ID, comment_post_ID, comment_author, comment_date, comment_content, user_id) VALUES (NULL, '$qID', '$author', '$dro', '$content', '$authorID')"; $result = mysql_query($sql); } else { echo 'error'; } ?> Can anyone please help? Here is the logout function: function logout() { global $db; session_start(); if(isset($_SESSION['user_id']) || isset($_COOKIE['user_id'])) { mysql_query("update `users` set `ckey`= '', `ctime`= '' where `id`='$_SESSION[user_id]' OR `id` = '$_COOKIE[user_id]'") or die(mysql_error()); } /************ Delete the sessions****************/ unset($_SESSION['user_id']); unset($_SESSION['user_name']); unset($_SESSION['user_level']); unset($_SESSION['HTTP_USER_AGENT']); session_unset(); session_destroy(); /* Delete the cookies*******************/ setcookie("user_id", '', time()-60*60*24*COOKIE_TIME_OUT, "/"); setcookie("user_name", '', time()-60*60*24*COOKIE_TIME_OUT, "/"); setcookie("user_key", '', time()-60*60*24*COOKIE_TIME_OUT, "/"); header("Location: index.php"); } Here is the authentication script: include 'dbc.php'; $err = array(); foreach($_GET as $key => $value) { $get[$key] = filter($value); //get variables are filtered. } if ($_POST['doLogin']=='Login') { foreach($_POST as $key => $value) { $data[$key] = filter($value); // post variables are filtered } $user_email = $data['usr_email']; $pass = $data['pwd']; if (strpos($user_email,'@') === false) { $user_cond = "user_name='$user_email'"; } else { $user_cond = "user_email='$user_email'"; } $result = mysql_query("SELECT `id`,`pwd`,`full_name`,`approved`,`user_level` FROM users WHERE $user_cond AND `banned` = '0' ") or die (mysql_error()); $num = mysql_num_rows($result); // Match row found with more than 1 results - the user is authenticated. if ( $num > 0 ) { list($id,$pwd,$full_name,$approved,$user_level) = mysql_fetch_row($result); if(!$approved) { //$msg = urlencode("Account not activated.   • .net converting bytearray to double[]

    - by AJ
    Hello, I am working with a database from a legacy app which stores 24 floating point values (doubles) as a byte array of length 192, so 8 bytes per value. This byte array is stored in a column of type image in a SQL Server 2005 database. In my .net app I need to read this byte array and convert it to a array of type Double[24]. I can access the field easy enough reader.GetBytes(...) but how to convert the returned ByteArray to Double[24] Any ideas? Thanks, AJ

  • Bash Nested Loops, mixture of dates and numbers

    - by Saleh
    Hi, I am trying to output a range of commands with different dates and numbers associated. for each hour eg. Output im trying to do in a loop is: shell.sh filename<number e.g. between 1-24> <date e.g. 20100928> <number e.g. between 1-24> <id> So basically the the above will generate an output done 24 times for each particular day with a unique 4 digit id. • Processing an Integer Retrieved from a String in XSL

    - by justkt
    I have a stored time value which is of the format H:mm:ss. The hours may be any value from 0 up through several days. This data is sent in an XML tag and processed by XSL to be displayed. The display that I want is of the format: D days, HH:mm:ss (hours/minutes) Where the last tag shows hours if HH is greater than 0, minutes if it is 0. Given the original HH, which may be more than 24, I know I need the floor of HH / 24 to get the days value. Then the original HH % 24 gives me the leftover hours. I have also handled the minutes and hours question using xsl:when and xsl:if. It's getting days and hours from the hours value that has me stumped.

  • Offset time for DST in one specific timezone using JavaScript

    - by Shannon
    I need to offset the time by an hour if it's currently DST in the Pacific Time Zone. How can I determine the current daylight savings status of the Pacific Time Zone, regardless of the user's local timezone? Here's what I have so far. "dst" in line 4 is just a placeholder for a function that would tell me if daylight savings time is active in that zone. function checkTime() { var d = new Date(); var hour = d.getUTCHours(); var offset = dst ? 7 : 8; // is pacific time currently in daylight savings? // is it currently 6 AM, 2 PM, or 10 PM? if (hour === ((6 + offset) % 24) || hour === ((14 + offset) % 24) || hour === ((22 + offset) % 24)) { // do stuff } } checkTime();

  • Delays in .net app when connecting to oracle db using Oracle.DataAccess

    - by chris
    I have a .net desktop app that connects to an oracle database. At times, there are very noticable delays. I ran a trace on the code, and it was always in the DataReader.Read(). I turned on sql tracing, and found the following, which corresponds to the delays I'm seeing: (2128) [23-MAR-2010 13:00:07:310] nsprecv: reading from transport... (2128) [23-MAR-2010 13:00:07:310] nttrd: entry (2128) [23-MAR-2010 13:00:24:655] nttrd: socket 676 had bytes read=2047 (2128) [23-MAR-2010 13:00:24:655] nttrd: exit (2128) [23-MAR-2010 13:00:24:655] nsprecv: 2047 bytes from transport There's about a 14 second pause in there. I'm pretty sure that there's not a problem in the code, but not sure where to look at next. Is there anyone out there with experience with oracle trace that can explain what's going on?

  • I am having trouble with a perl Script

    - by Jonathan Mori
    I have web log files and I was having a lot of trouble, being new with perl. I just need a script to find a count of each of the images that were found. I was able to list them but I'm unsure of how to just get a count, say something like "There were x jpgs and x gifs viewed". The web logs look like this. 24.131.83.162 - - [28/Jan/2007:00:00:00 -0500] "GET /~taler/images/index_09.jpg HTTP/1.1" 200 1563 207.46.98.53 - - [28/Jan/2007:00:00:04 -0500] "GET /%7Edist/programs/PhD/PhDGuide/guideA.htm HTTP/1.0" 200 19090 74.6.74.184 - - [28/Jan/2007:00:00:12 -0500] "GET /%7Embsclass/hall_of_fame/myicon.ico HTTP/1.0" 200 760 58.68.24.3 - - [28/Jan/2007:00:00:16 -0500] "GET /~dtipper/tipper.html HTTP/1.1" 200 5896 58.68.24.3 - - [28/Jan/2007:00:00:16 -0500] "GET /~dtipper/gifs/head.jpg HTTP/1.1" 200 18318

  • Ruby on Rails - Working with times

    - by miligraf
    If in a database (MySQL), I have a datetime column (ex. 1899-12-30 19:00:00), how do I sum 1 day to it? Following http://corelib.rubyonrails.org/classes/Time.html#M000240 If I want to add 1 day, it actually adds 60*60*24 days (86,400 days) r=Record.find(:first) =>Sat, 30 Dec 1899 19:00:00 -0600 r.date + (60*60*24) =>Fri, 20 Jul 2136 19:00:00 -0600 But if I do this it actually adds 1 day: t = Time.now =>Mon Jun 14 10:32:51 -0600 2010 t + (60 * 60 * 24) =>Tue Jun 15 10:33:21 -0600 2010 I guess it has to do with the format...how do I make this work?

  • PHP Get Shape Coordinates From Points

    - by Ozzy
    Im sure if the title is exactly what I am trying to describe so sorry if it isnt. Ok here is what i am trying to do: What i want to do is create a function that you can enter unlimited ammount of coordinates ( the blue dots) and then it will create a shape like so and then return all coordinates the shape covers. Because this is for working with pixels, there will be no decimal coordinates. Something that can be used like so: print_r(get_coords(12,6, 23,13, 30,9, 37,24, 24,34, 25,24, 7,30, 6,15)); // ^ Will output an array of all x and y coordinates that the shape covers How would i go about doing something like this?

  • How long would it take to learn Python?

    - by Josh
    Hi all I have decided to take the time out after work to learn Python. Python appeals to me because at work (Web and eLearning Company), I have to follow out very repetitive tasks like delete all these tags, rename all these tasks and even more advanced repetive tasks. Additionally it would be good for me to get an understanding of Python first because of its fairly easy to learn syntax. How long would it take to learn the basics and go through these tutorials on Python (+ the Python tutorial)? I will only be spending 1 hour or so on it in the afternoons. http://openbookproject.net/thinkcs/python/english2e/index.html I have told my piano teacher I would like to take a month of learning piano to do this would this be adequate time? After this I may choose to learn PHP, because that is mainly what we use for web development at work. Thanks Josh

  • Not able to see databases in symlinked folder

    - by Josh Smith
    I created a folder on my Dropbox and then symlinked it to both of my computers that I use for development. The folder is working correctly and I can see all the files in it from both computers. The problem arises when I try and access the databases from my MacBook Air. When I open up MAMP Pro and start the web service I can't connect to my development sites, at least from one of my computers. My questions are: Is this even a good idea to symlink the db folder for MAMP? If it is not then is the a smart way to develop locally on two machines? Can I prompt phpMyAdmin to reindex the db folder so it can start accessing the databases? I have tried shutting down both versions of the server software. I have restarted both machines. I am at a loss right now. -Josh

  • Programming Language? - To create a application (eLearning course) that will work on PC, Mac, iPhone, iPad, Touch etc?

    - by Josh
    Hi Currently at work I'm helping put together and create eLearning courses within Flash. Our senior programmers have knowledge of how to do this, Although - I would like to know how you could go from converting a eLearning course from Flash into a application for Mac and PC, looking similar to Garageband's music lessons? What programming language was used to create Garageband on Mac? What is the best way to create a application that will work on PC, Mac, iPhone, iPad, Touch etc, Rather then using flash and Actionscript to create online based applications, that will only work in a browser on Mac and PC? Any further tips? Thanks Josh

    hi every body. i'm a trainee as a sysAdmin, it is my first expérience with virtualization. i have a server setup debian xen 3 with 2 physical interfaces. eth 0 for local network 10.0.0.1 and eth1 for internet (194.X.X.4). i created 3 VMs (web server, mail server and dabase server) with local ip addresses 172.10.0.x/24. the problem i had first is that domU can't ping dom0. i asked the sysAdmin of our ISP and he sais that he fogot to setup the bridginb. so he ceated a bridge with 172.10.0.1/24 after that i was able to ping the real server (194.X.X.4). but i can't go out side from my VMs, how can i fixe this issue? real or physical server ifconfig eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 23:26:34:84:ce:xe inet adr:10.1.3.12 Bcast:10.1.3.255 Masque:255.255.255.0 adr inet6: fe80::226:b9ff:fe84:ceb4/64 Scope:Lien UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:412006 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:411296 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 lg file transmission:1000 RX bytes:31410957 (29.9 MiB) TX bytes:31178370 (29.7 MiB) Interruption:36 Mémoire:d6000000-d6012100 eth1 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 23:26:34:84:ce:xe inet adr:194.x.x.4 Bcast:194.254.167.255 Masque:255.255.255.0 adr inet6: fe80::226:b9ff:fe84:ceb6/64 Scope:Lien UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:25872332 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:414578 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 lg file transmission:0 RX bytes:2642278343 (2.4 GiB) TX bytes:35436775 (33.7 MiB) lo Link encap:Boucle locale inet adr:127.0.0.1 Masque:255.0.0.0 adr inet6: ::1/128 Scope:Hôte UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:16436 Metric:1 RX packets:1308073 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:1308073 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 lg file transmission:0 RX bytes:109871395 (104.7 MiB) TX bytes:109871395 (104.7 MiB) peth1 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 23:26:34:84:ce:xe UP BROADCAST RUNNING PROMISC MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:31818694 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:414818 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 lg file transmission:1000 RX bytes:5197318822 (4.8 GiB) TX bytes:37904897 (36.1 MiB) Interruption:48 Mémoire:d8000000-d8012100 vif281.0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr fe:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff adr inet6: fe80::fcff:ffff:feff:ffff/64 Scope:Lien UP BROADCAST RUNNING PROMISC MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:207 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:298 errors:0 dropped:2 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 lg file transmission:32 RX bytes:24629 (24.0 KiB) TX bytes:28404 (27.7 KiB) vif281.1 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr fe:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff adr inet6: fe80::fcff:ffff:feff:ffff/64 Scope:Lien UP BROADCAST RUNNING PROMISC MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:45 errors:0 dropped:47063 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 lg file transmission:32 RX bytes:0 (0.0 B) TX bytes:4449 (4.3 KiB) vif282.0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr fe:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff adr inet6: fe80::fcff:ffff:feff:ffff/64 Scope:Lien UP BROADCAST RUNNING PROMISC MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:78 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:13 errors:0 dropped:1 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 lg file transmission:32 RX bytes:5041 (4.9 KiB) TX bytes:714 (714.0 B) xenbr0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr fe:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff inet adr:172.10.0.1 Bcast:172.10.0.255 Masque:255.255.255.0 adr inet6: fe80::5c72:c6ff:fe49:7fe/64 Scope:Lien UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:7180 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:8615 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 lg file transmission:0 RX bytes:756804 (739.0 KiB) TX bytes:791206 (772.6 KiB) brtcl show bridge name bridge id STP enabled interfaces eth1 8000.0026b984ceb6 no peth1 vif281.1 xenbr0 8000.feffffffffff no vif281.0 vif282.0 network-multi-bridge /etc/xen/scripts/network-virtual start vifnum="0" bridgeip="172.10.0.1/24" brnet="172.10.0.0/24" VM webserver eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:16:3E:42:33:70 inet addr:172.10.0.2 Bcast:172.10.0.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 inet6 addr: fe80::216:3eff:fe42:3370/64 Scope:Link UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:3 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:27 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000 RX bytes:126 (126.0 b) TX bytes:2036 (1.9 KiB) lo Link encap:Local Loopback inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0 inet6 addr: ::1/128 Scope:Host UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:16436 Metric:1 RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:0 RX bytes:0 (0.0 b) TX bytes:0 (0.0 b) Thank you for your help.
