  I am trying to deploy a web application built with Dotnetnuke. There is an DNN Control/ASCX having a MultiView and few AjaxToolkit Controls like AutoComplete, ModalPopup. In Views other (plain) ASCXs are included and some of which have UpdatePanel.   I am wondering conceptually how load-balancing works on the EJB-level (not web session replication) with Java EE containers like Glassfish. From what I have gleaned your remote interface is a proxy that delegates your call to one of many servers you may have in an environment. If things fail are they supposed to be able to "finish" on another server? I want to understand the basic theory behind this load balancing, why is it better than a bunch of servers all running a plain web application with session affinity on a load-balancer?

  I'm trying to find like NeHe's tutorials for Qt that are all in GLSL. Because lets face it, OpenGL in the old days are dead and Shaders are the only way now. And with Qt-4.6 they introduced the QMatrix4x4, QVector3, and the Shader classes. But I cannot find any tutorials for this. All the ones I do find, all use crappy SDL and/or GLUT (Which are just plain useless).

  I've create a plain and siple backup script that only backs up certain files and folders. tar -zcf $DIRECTORY/var.www.tar.gz /var/www tar -zcf $DIRECTORY/development.tar.gz /development tar -zcf $DIRECTORY/home.tar.gz /home Now this script runs for about 30mins then gives me the following error gzip: stdout: File too large Any other solutions that I can use to backup my files using shell scripting or a way to solve this error?   I'm testing sending out some emails via C#, but I can't tell what effect setting IsBodyHtml to true has. Regardless of the value, whatever I send in my Body shows up with a content type of "text/plain", and my HTML shows up tags and all in my email client (gmail). What is that flag actually supposed to do? NOTE: I can send an HTML email just fine by creating an AlternateView with a content type of "text/html", I just want to understand how setting the body is supposed to work.

• Javascript crazy idea finding a node

  I had a crazy (but so crazy that it just might work) idea where every element on a page is created in javascript but given an ID which is a hash of its path in the DOM. So instead of searching through the DOM to find an element, you hash the path and then getElementById() with that hash. Problem with this is getting the path might be more expensive than searching the DOM in the first place. Any ideas how this could be done or if it is just plain stupid?

I saw that David Hayden has created T4 for generating FluentNH code based upon a DBML model, but I'm not quite ready to use FluentNH yet as there isn't even an official release yet (although I love the idea). • Salt, passwords and security

  I've read through many of the questions on SO about this, but many answers contradict each other or I don't understand. You should always store a password as a hash, never as plain text. But should you store the salt (unique for each user) next to the hashed password+salt in the database. This doesn't seem very clever to me as couldn't someone gain access to the database, look for says the account called Admin or whatever and then work out the password from that?

  What does O, if indeed it is a Oh (As in the letter O) not the number Zero (0) mean? I think the n would be number, but I'm not sure as I'm not a 'real' computer programmer, just a hobbyist. And log would be logarithmic function, but I only know that because of smarter people then I have told me this, while never really explaining what a logarithm is.
