• Is there a Windows API to modify file type associations for an extension?

  I'm looking for a way to programatically tweak the particulars of a file association on a Windows system. For example, the "Application User to Perform this Action" setting for the "Open" action for a particular file type. Clearly I could do this by modifying the registry directly, but if there is an API I'd prefer to use that as it would likely be more resilient to changes in the OS handling of mapping extensions to applications. For my purposes I'm needing to write this in VBScript (.VBS) file because it is part of a package to be used with VMWare ThinApp that mandates it. However, I'll port/wrap/whatever I need to make this week, so I am open to any solution (including using the .NET framework)

• Infinispan equivalent to ehcache's copyOnRead and copyOnWrite

  Hi, I am planning to implement a cache solution into an existing web app. Nothing complicated: basically a concurrent map that supports overflowing to disk and automatic eviction. Clustering the cache could be requirement in the future, but not now. I like ehcache's copyOnRead and copyOnWrite features, because it means that I don't have to manually clone things before modifying something I take out of the cache. Now I have started to look at Infinispan, but I have not found anything equivalent there. Does it exist? • .odx Files in BizTalk 2009 (VS2008 IDE) Fail to open. "Unspecified Error"

  Okay, I'm not sure if this is an SO question, or a ServerFault question, but I figured I'd post here first. I have a BizTalk project which works like a champ for its original design. It's been deployed and it's working fine. Today, I went in to add some new fuctionality by modifying one of my orchestrations. When I attempted to open it, I got a message which simply stated: "The operation could not be completed. Unspecified error." I've closed the IDE and re-opened; I've restarted the machine; I've even allowed Microsoft Updates to run and restart the machine. Everything else opens just fine (.xsd files, .btms, etc.) so it appears only to be the orchestrations which are failing. Has anyone ever encountered a similar issue and resolved it (short of reinstalling BizTalk/VS, or blowing the orchs away and rebuilding)? Any help would be appreciated.

• How can I allow users to switch data sources for an SSRS report?

  I have two SQL Server databases with identical schemas, but different data. I also have SSRS generating reports, in native mode, for one of the databases. All reports the same shared data source. I would like to allow users to get reports for the other database. I created a second shared data source for the second database. Modifying the reports to use this second data source results in reports as expected. Because the RDLs are the same, except for the data source, and because I don't want to maintain what are basically duplicate reports, I'm looking for a way to dynamically switch data sources, depending on user input. Is there an easy means of accomplishing this? An existing solution would be best. Barring that, can the RDL's data source be parametrized? Or, can the RDS's connection string be parametrized?

  I am using the below class file, where some variables are declared to use in the entire application. Now i used that variable [BlockLogOut] in another class file to make the value True. I just put this below line and getting error in it.. "TypeInitializationException" Global.BlockLogOut = True; The wired thing is, it was working fine for many months and i am getting this error now on the above line. Of course i was modifying some other stuffs in the application, but surely not this class file. • Spring - MVC - Sanitize URL before redisplaying to the user

  In my application , a HTTP GET request URL to the application with script tag is getting redisplayed as it is although it fails the authorization. Example: http://www.example.com/welcome<script>alert("hi")</script> The issue is sanitizing external input entered directly into address bar by modifying existing GET URL. Spring redisplays the submitted URL as it is. • Customising event delegates in the jQuery validation plug-in

  I am currently setting up the jQuery validation plug-in for use in our project. By default, there are some events automatically set up for handling. I.e. focus in/out, key up events on all inputs fire validation. I want it to only fire when the submit button is clicked. This functionality seems to be in-built into the plug-in, which is making it difficult to do this (without modifying the plug-in code, Not What I Want To Do). I have found the eventDelegate function calls in the plugin code prototype method: $(this.currentForm) .validateDelegate(":text, :password, :file, select, textarea", "focusin focusout keyup", delegate) .validateDelegate(":radio, :checkbox, select, option", "click", delegate); When I remove these lines from the plug-in I get my result, however I would much rather do something Outside the plug-in to achieve this. Can anybody please help me? If you need any more details, please let me know. I have searched google with little success. Thanks

• Modify url for bookmarking using JavaScript

  I'm exploring my options for modifying urls in the browser bar for bookmarking purposes. Ideally, I'd like to add querystring parameters and cannot determine if this is even possible. I don't want the page to refresh and want to add querystring values on link clicks, ajax calls, etc. If I can't add querystring parameters, then I'd like to add hash values (http:://someurl.com#hash-value). How should I go about doing this? Should I use plain JavaScript or a framework (jquery, prototype, etc.) and/or framework plugin.

  I'm considering switching to mysqli for all my php projects. The way my code is written (I run very simple websites and built my own basic framework which I use across all of them) I shouldn't have too many problems modifying the functions and classes. However, i've only heard positive things about prepared statements, bar a few grumblings about the php functions available, most notably the lack of a simple replacement for using mysql_fetch_array in a while. This sounds a bit too good to be true, so I wondered if anyone could highlight some of the issues with using prepared statements, such as speed and resource usage.

• Adobe Flex, loading a remote swf

  I have a flex app running on my server. I have had a request from some clients to have the swf loaded on their server, so that their customers dont have to be transferred to my server to login; i.e. from the user's point of view it looks like they are logging in from theirsite.com instead of mysite.com I tried something really simple, and that was to give them a html wrapper to host on their site. The only modification that I made was to change the "src" var to: "src", "https://www.mysite.com/app/myapp.swf" and embed src="https://www.mysite.com/app/myapp.swf" To my surprise, this worked perfectly. And best of all, the service calls still seem to come from mysite.com, so I dont have to bother with modifying the crossdomain.xml file. All good it seems. Are there any issues or downsides to the above that I should be aware of?

'/template.php'); } } This code works pretty well, the problem is I want to inverse the content adding, meaning that I want first "content/templates/id9/template.php" included before "id8/template.php" and so on till the first.. How can I do this by modifying the code above? A million thanks!

• Drupal 6 / Views2 Grid style: whole cells link to nodes

  I have a Users page, which is simply a nicely styled grid (HTML table) of users. I'm displaying a few fields for each one, and both the name and the profile picture have been set to link to the user node. What is the best way to change it so that the whole cell (HTML td) links to the user node? Would you have to use javascript? I've looked into modifying the theme of the view (over-riding the Style output e.g. views-view-grid--users.tpl.php), but cant see an elegant way to get the URL of the user node. And I think you would have to use javascript anyway to turn a whole block element into a link.

• Force exceptions language in English

  My Visual Studio 2005 is a French one, installed on a French OS. All the exceptions I receive during debug or runtime I obtain also in French. Can I however do something that the exceptions messages be in English? For goggling, discussing etc. I tried the following: Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentUICulture = new CultureInfo("en-US"); throw new NullReferenceException(); obtained Object reference not set to an instance of an object. This is, surely, cool... but, as I work on a French project, I will not hardcode forcing Thread.CurrentUICulture to English. I want the English change to be only on my local machine, and don't change the project properties. Is it possible to set the exceptions language without modifying the code of the application?   Currently i am using reflection with sql. I find if i want to make a specialize query it is easiest to get the results by creating a new class inheriting from another and adding the 2 members/columns for my specialized query. Then due to reflections in the lib in my c# code i can write foreach(var v in list) { v.AnyMember and v.MyExtraMember) Now instead of having the class scattered around or modifying my main DB.cs file can i define a class inside a function? I know i can create an anonymous object by writing new {name=val, name2=...}; but i need a to pass this class in a generic function func(query, args);

• How do I use theme preprocessor functions for my own templates?

  I have several .tpl.php files for nodes, CCK fields, and Views theming. These template files have a lot of logic in them to move things around, strip links, create new links, etc. I understand that this is bad development and not "The Drupal Way". If I understand correctly, "The Drupal Way" is to use preprocessor functions in your template.php file to manipulate variables and add new variables. A few questions about that: Is there a naming convention for creating a preprocessor function for a specific theme? For example, if I have a CCK field template called content-field-field_transmission_make_model.tpl, how would I name the preprocessor function? Can I use template preprocessor functions for node templates, CCK field templates, and Views templates? Do they have different methods of modifying template variables or adding new ones?

I'd like to offer a user an ability to view and edit this graph visually some way, creating and removing connections, modifying objects attributes values and introducing/dropping objects.   I would like my code to update contact details (like name, phone number, email, organization details, etc) in the android contact book. I was successful in modifying a few (name, phone number and email to be specific) but not all.   I'm not even sure what this principle is called or how to search for it, so I sincerely apologize if it has been brought up before, but the best way to do it is with an example. class Properties { public string Name { get; set; } } class MyClass { class SubProperties: Properties { public override Name { get { return GetActualName(); } set { _value = SetActualName(value); } } } public SubProperties ClassProperties; private GetActualName() { ClassProperties.Name = "name"; } private SetActualName(string s) { ClassProperties.Name = SomeOtherFunction(s); } } The idea is to have any object that instantiates MyClass have a fully accessible property ClassProperties. To that object, it would look exactly like a Properties object, but behind the scenes, MyClass is actually computing and modifying the results of the fields. This method of declaration is obviously wrong since I can't access GetActualName() and SetActualName() from within the SubProperties definition. How would I achieve something like this?

  Hi! I need to use SET and ENUM types in my CakePHP 1.3 project. I found some advices, but all them are too old (2004-2006) and full of crazy methods, like modifying cake's core files. Also, CakePHP developers said that SET and ENUM types are not supported. Example: I have SET('alpha','beta') field, and I need to use this data as checkboxes in add & edit actions. Is there any way to add normal support (Form helpers etc.) of SET and ENUM fields?

  Hi all: I'm having difficulties adding file of the same name in the same list and subsequently updating/changing/modifying the name of a SPFile. Basically, this is what I'm trying to do: string fileName = "something"; // obtained from a loop -- loop omitted here. SPFile file = folder.Files.Add(fileName, otherFile.OpenBinary()); The Add method will generate a runtime exception when it finds another file of the same name in the same list/folder. So I thought of changing the file name later in the process: string newGuid = Guid.NewGuid().ToString(); SPFile file = folder.Files.Add(newGuid, otherFile.OpenBinary()); // some other processing... afterwards, rename the file file.name = fileName; file.Item.Update(); A few minute of googling indicated I need to either move the file around, or update the name field by using ["Name"] instead.   I see there is a :user_ssl option in attachment_fu which checks the amazon_s3.yml file in order to serve files via https:// In the s3_backend.rb you have this method: def self.protocol @protocol ||= s3_config[:use_ssl] ? 'https://' : 'http://' end But this then makes it serve ALL s3 attachments with SSL. I'd like to make it dynamic depending if the current request was made with https:// i.e: if request.ssl? @protocol = "https://" else @protocol = "http://" end How can I make it work in this way? I've tried modifying the method and then get the NameError: undefined local variable or method `request' for Technoweenie::AttachmentFu::Backends::S3Backend:Module error

• Subversion: Ignore a Directory in the Repo on Commit

  I have all the boost header files in this repository and when I do a check in it takes a really long time to scan all those files that will never change. Because I want users that checkout the project to be able to compile without installing boost I am in a pickle. I want to checkout everything, and then ignore updates (there will never be any) on a directory. Tortoise svn has a ignore-on-commit change list, but I cannot find anyway to add an entire directory to this list, and I do not fancy the idea of 'modifying' all the boost files so I can add them to this change list. Is there a simple solution?

• How can I modify a custom object in an ASP.NET FormView based on a button click?

  I have a FormView that modifies an instance of a custom class. The various form controls (TextBox, DropDownList etc.) are working fine. However, I want to include a Button that will modify the state of the DataItem based on some very simple logic. There is no form control which could control this change in a non-confusing way. So I tried adding a Button and modifying the state of the DataItem in the code-behind. But the problem I encounter is that the FormView's DataItem is null/nothing. From reading this SO question it seems the problem is that the item is not databound when the Button's Click event is fired. So, the question; Is it possible to get the DataItem for the FormView during a Button's Click event? and if not: what are my options for implementing this? Thanks in advance. Edit: I can include any code that might help
