    I have a Gateway notebook with graphics card 01:05.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RS690M [Radeon X1200 Series] with open source driver Linux version 2.6.32 -28 - generic. No other operating system on the computer. When I am using firefox to browse the web, everything normally works just fine except that when I attempt to access some particular web pages the screen completely messes up going mostly white with various streaks, etc., although I can access other pages of the same site without problems. When I run the cursor over the garbled screen, bits of the image recompose themselves, at least partially, and I can continue to open the applications window, or turn the computer off, or open the terminal, or take screen shots, etc., although all menus are unreadable. Also, when I zoom in on Google Earth the screen completely messes up. At all other times, there are no apparent problems. Any ideas?

  • Can't Reboot into Windows 8.1 from Ubuntu

    I am newb in Ubuntu. Currently I am using an Acer V11 laptop with a pre-intalled Windows 8.1. I follow some guideline (http://www.everydaylinuxuser.com/2014/05/install-ubuntu-1404-alongside-windows.html) which successfully install Ubuntu 14.04 LTS alongside Windows 8.1 with UEFI enabled all the way throughout the installation and my current usage and a GRUB. But I got into some problem. The dual boot mostly works fine as I am able to successfully boot into either one of the Windows 8.1 or Ubuntu when stating my laptop. However it ran into issue after I start the device and use Ubuntu for a while (2 hour for instance) and then restart it: If I press the restart from Ubuntu, the grub still shows and I am still able to choose the Windows Boot Manager. But the Windows loading process was stuck at the Acer Loading Screen and I am not able to see the standard circular Win8 loading progress bar. Does someone know why would this happens?

I see, it works but without ssh connection... I need make script, which will send this commands after reboot: aif -p partial-configure-network (and write some information about my server ip etc.) /etc/rc.d/sshd start (need to start sshd) echo "sshd: ALL" /etc/hosts.allow (to allow me login to server, by default deny all) passwd (by default its empty, can't login via ssh with empty password) Can I edit .iso or may be /dev/sda? May be I need write script, which will start after system boot and do this things or may be I can set this settings by default and system will start with correct settings (i think its possible at least in 2. and 3.). I've got NUnit using the correct CLR version, but I can't get PartCover to produce any output. All I get is an "empty" report XML file: <PartCoverReport date="2010-03-30T16:09:05.1009099+01:00" /> How do I get PartCover 2.3 (or 2.2, I guess) to work with NUnit 2.5.3 on .NET 4.0?

I can get the Java code to work just fine if I add the BOM manually. With the added BOM, the following file works fine. Addendum I selected the answer below from Amro because it exactly solves the question I posed. One key discovery for me was the difference between the Unicode Standard and a UTF (Unicode transformation format) (see http://unicode.org/faq/utf_bom.html). The Unicode Standard provides unique identifiers (code points) for characters. UTFs provide mappings of every code point "to a unique byte sequence." Since all but a handful of the characters I am using are in the first 128 code points, I'm going to switch to using UTF-8 as Romeo suggests. UTF-8 is supported by Matlab (The warning shown below won't need to be suppressed.) and Java, and for my application will generate smaller text files. I suppress the Matlab warning Warning: The encoding 'UTF-16LE' is not supported. with warning off MATLAB:iofun:UnsupportedEncoding;
