    Hello I'm looking to implement a system for tweeting directly from my site backend, which is written in PHP 5. I have a script from the internet that I can adapt, but I'm concerned that when Twitter switches to Oauth only, I'll be out in the cold. Basically, I'm hoping someone can point me toward a script/tutorial that will let me do the following: access twitter via the Oauth system Post Tweets and receive error codes Let me define an application/site name (I'm a bit fuzzy on whether Twitter allows this) Ideally I need all 3 points explained in detail.     I am a Network Admin from India, managing a large University Network of more than 15000 users. Here goes my problem - My DNS is unable to get ip address for ns1.p34.dynect.net. when i use dig +trace twitter.com on my DNS Server i get this messages:- dig: couldn't get address for 'ns1.p34.dynect.net': failure and this is happening with all those sites listed with dynect.net like twitter,linkedin,quora etc. Find the attached screen shot for the same message. Right now I have temporally fixed (not actually fixed) the problem using Google DNS (8.8.8.8) What could be the issue as It is able to resolve all other sites perfectlly.   • Passing PATH through sudo

    In short: how to make sudo not to flush PATH everytime? I have some websites deployed on my server (Debian testing) written with Ruby on Rails. I use Mongrel+Nginx to host them, but there is one problem that comes when I need to restart Mongrel (e.g. after making some changes). All sites are checked in VCS (git, but it is not important) and have owner and group set to my user, whereas Mongrel runs under the, huh, mongrel user that is severely restricted in it's rights. So Mongrel must be started under root (it can automatically change UID) or mongrel. To manage mongrel I use mongrel_cluster gem because it allows starting or stopping any amount of Mongrel servers with just one command. But it needs the directory /var/lib/gems/1.8/bin to be in PATH: this is not enough to start it with absolute path. Modifying PATH in root .bashrc changed nothing, tweaking sudo's env_reset and keepenv didn't either. So the question: how to add a directory to PATH or keep user's PATH in sudo?

    Using Ruby SerialPorts Gem to interact with hardware. When I write a byte array to the hardware using a program called "Serial Port Monitor" the hardware responds correctly. However, when I write the same byte array using ruby it doesn't work unless I do a read request just before the write request. This device doesn't respond correctly with this sp = SerialPort.new(args) sp.write [200.chr, 30.chr, 6.chr, 5.chr, 1.chr, 2.chr, 0.chr, 244.chr] But it does if I add a read request before the write. Like this sp SerialPort.new(args) sp.read sp.write [200.chr, 30.chr, 6.chr, 5.chr, 1.chr, 2.chr, 0.chr, 244.chr] This works, but I'm at a loss as to why. I should also add that the first snippet does work occasionally maybe 1/10 of the time.

  • Ruby on Rails simple_navigation Gem

    I'm using the simple_navigation gem with RoR 2.3.5 It all seems to work correctly, I followed the info in the RDoc (seen here http://rdoc.info/projects/mexpolk/simple_navigation) However, when I actually render out the simple_navigation menu on my main application.html.erb file it escapes all of the html in it (multiple escapes actually). I end up with junk like this which in a browser ends up with all kinds of disjointed text and ["\ things everywhere. <ul class="simple_navigation" depth="0" id="simple_navigation_default"> ["<li class=\"menu\" drop_down=\"true\" id=\"simple_navigation_default_menus_home\"><a href=\"/home\">Wellcome</a><ul depth=\"1\" id=\"simple_navigation_default_menus_home_menus\"> [\"<li class=\\\"menu\\\" drop_down=\\\"false\\\" id=\\\"simple_navigation_default_menus_home_menus_settings\\\"><a href=\\\"/home/settings\\\">Appliction Settings</a></li>\"] </ul> </li>"] What am I doing wrong? Is there a way to tell Ruby on rails to NOT escape html?

  • Mysql gem troubles with Snow Leopard upgrade

    I have done everything that is on the web (i think) i have the new 64 bit xcode that came with snow leopard installed completely removed mysql, removed gems compeltely, removed rails installed mysql 64 bit, installed gems, installed mysql gem with the env ARCHFLAGS set I still get this nasty NameError: uninitialized constant MysqlCompat::MysqlRes from /Users/Navara/Sites/tuosystems/vendor/rails/activesupport/lib/active_support/dependencies.rb:440:in `load_missing_constant' from /Users/Navara/Sites/tuosystems/vendor/rails/activesupport/lib/active_support/dependencies.rb:80:in `rake_original_const_missing' from /usr/local/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/rake-0.8.7/lib/rake.rb:2503:in `const_missing' Im not sure how to debug this.. any pointers will be greatly appreciated!
