• EPIPE blocks server

  I have written a single-threaded asynchronous server in C running on Linux: The socket is non-blocking and as for polling, I am using epoll. Benchmarks show that the server performs fine and according to Valgrind, there are no memory leaks or other problems. The only problem is that when a write() command is interrupted (because the client closed the connection), the server will encounter a SIGPIPE. I am doing the interrupted artifically by running the benchmarking utility "siege" with the parameter -b. It does lots of requests in a row which all work perfectly. Now I press CTRL-C and restart the "siege". Sometimes I am lucky and the server does not manage to send the full response because the client's fd is invalid. As expected errno is set to EPIPE. I handle this situation, execute close() on the fd and then free the memory related to the connection. Now the problem is that the server blocks and does not answer properly anymore. Then, it's added to the EPOLL queue. epoll_wait() signalises that the client sent data (EPOLLIN). The request is parsed and and a response is composed. Sending the headers works fine but when it comes to the body, write() results in an EPIPE. It is not a bug in "siege" because it blocks any incoming connections, no matter from which client.

  Hi All, I am trying to execute an MySql query using the CI Active methods. If the query is malformed, then CI invokes internal server error 500 and quits without processing the next steps.. I need to roll back all the other queries processed before that error statement, and the roll back is also not happening.. can you help pls.   Hi!   I have a sample program, which needs to execute 3 methods in a particular order. And after executing each method, should do error handling. I was looking at some examples online and couldnt figure our if i shud use Action or Func delegates for this. Both look similar but im unable to get a clear idea how to implement this. Any help is gr8ly appreciated. I'm using .NET 4.0, so im allowed to use anonymous methods n lambda expressions also for this Thanks

• Searching a document for multiple terms in VBA?

  I'm trying to create a macro to be used in Microsoft Word 2007 that will search a document for multiple keywords (string variables) located in an external Excel file (the reason for having it in an external file is that the terms will often be changed and updated). I've figured out how to search a document paragraph by paragraph for a single term and color every instance of that term, and I assumed that the proper method would be to use a dynamic array as the search term variable. The question is: how do I get the macro to create an array containing all the terms from an external file and search each paragraph for each and every term? • bash and flock (file lock) - Doesn't seem to be locking....

  I am playing with using flock, a bash command for file locks to prevent 2 different instances of the code from running more than once. I am using this testing code: ( ( flock -x 200 ; sleep 10 ; echo "original finished" ; ) 200>./test.lock ) & ( sleep 2 ; ( flock -x -w 2 200 ; echo "a finished" ) 200>./test.lock ) & I am running 2 subshells (backgrounded). The (flock NUM; ...) NUM>FILE syntax is from flock's man page. I expect that the first subshell will get an exclusive lock on test.lock, then wait 10 seconds, then print "original finished", all the time holding the lock. The second subshell will start at more or less the same time, wait 2 seconds, then try to get a lock on test.lock, but timeout after 2 seconds. If it gets a lock, then it'll print "a finished". If it doesn't get the lock, that subshell should stop, and nothing should be printed. Since the first subshell is waiting longer, it will keep the lock for 10 seconds, so the second subshell should not get the lock, and shouldn't finish. i.e. one should see "original finished" printed and not both. What actually happens is that "a finished" is printed, then "original finished" is printed. This implies that that the second subshell is either (a) not using the same lock as the first subhsell or (b) that it fails to get the lock, but continues to execute or (c) something else. Why don't those locks work?

• How can I run a local Windows Application and have the output be piped into the Browser.

  I have Windows Application (.EXE file is written in C and built with MS-Visual Studio), that outputs ASCII text to stdout. I’m looking to enhance the ASCII text to include limited HTML with a few links. I’d like to invoke this application (.EXE File) and take the output of that application and pipe it into a Browser. This is not a one time thing, each new web page would be another run of the Local Application! The HTML/java-script application below has worked for me to execute the application, but the output has gone into a DOS Box windows and not to pipe it into the Browser. • Thread Message Loop Hangs in Delphi

  Hello all. I have a simple Delphi program that I'm working on, in which I am attempting to use threading to separate the functionality of the program from its GUI, and to keep the GUI responsive during more lengthy tasks, etc. Basically, I have a 'controller' TThread, and a 'view' TForm. The view knows the controller's handle, which it uses to send the controller messages via PostThreadMessage. I have had no problem in the past using this sort of model for forms which are not the main form, but for some reason, when I attempt to use this model for the main form, the message loop of the thread just quits.   MacOS version : 10.7.2 ( lion ) Doxygen version : 1.7.5.1 Graphviz version : 2.29 Doxygen configuration - DOT_PATH = ../../../../Applications/Contents/MacOS/Graphviz HAVE_DOT = YES SHORT_NAMES = YES From the log console - First line it gives a warning - warning: the dot tool could not be found at ../../../../Applications/Contents/MacOS/Graphviz - I have tried various combinations but the warning does not go , although it generates the images. Generating dot graphs using 9 parallel threads... Running dot for graph 1/68 sh: dot: command not found Problems running dot: exit code=127, command='dot', arguments='"/Users/salilk/Documents/project/DoxygenDocs/html/a00033.dot" -Tpng -o "/Users/salilk/Documents/project/DoxygenDocs/html/a00033.png"' In the html directory the .dot files have been generated but no .png. Now if I execute the same command from the Terminal the .png file gets generated and is displayed in its .html file. Another error from the console is - error: problems opening map file /Users/salilk/Documents/A2O Collaborate/DoxygenDocs/html/a00032.map for inclusion in the docs! If you installed Graphviz/dot after a previous failing run, try deleting the output directory and rerun doxygen. - Is this related to the above problem ? I have used Doxygen before on a Windows machine and didn't have these errors , do we need to do any configurations specific for Mac ? - Salil.

Must be non-negative and less than the size of the collection. Parameter name: index Am I right when I say that, currently, Linq to NHibernate does not support ToLower()? And if so, is there an alternative that allows me to search for a string in the middle of another string that Linq to NHibernate is compatible with? For example, if the user searches for kap, I need it to match Kapiolani, Makapuu, and Lapkap.

• How do I associate Parameters to Command objects in ADO with VBScript?

  I have been working an ADO VBScript that needs to accept parameters and incorporate those parameters in the Query string that gets passed the the database. I keep getting errors when the Record Set Object attempts to open. If I pass a query without parameters, the recordset opens and I can work with the data. When I run the script through a debugger, the command object does not show a value for the parameter object. It seems to me that I am missing something that associates the Command object and Parameter object, but I do not know what. Here is a bit of the VBScript Code: ... • Can't bind string containing @ char with mysqli_stmt_bind_param

  I have a problem with my database class. I have a method that takes one prepared statement and any number of parameters, binds them to the statement, executes the statement and formats the result into a multidimentional array. Everthing works fine until I try to include an email adress in one of the parameters. The email contains an @ character and that one seems to break everything. • how to force operating system to give java more memory?

  Hello, I've got problem with java jar files and memory. I use netbeans 6.7 to develop an application and this application need more memory to run because it converts another files. Whenever this application convert a 6-10 mb file, it'll crash. So I set netbeans VM Options : -Xms32m -Xmx256m and the application can convert 6-10mb files with no problem. I Clean and Build the project so it can make a jar file of my application. I run the jar on my computer and use jconsole to monitor the memory. The maximum memory to use by the application shows 256 mb. But whenever I move it to some other computers, it shows 65-66 mb on jconsole and the application will crash when convert 6-10 mb files. So I need to use command prompt : java -jar -Xmx256m myjar.jar to execute the jar with maximum memory Why it can be happen, in my computer the maximum memory shows 256 mb but on another computer 65-66 mb? Can I force another computer to give extra maximum memory to my application? Thank you for your answer. I'm sorry for my inadequate English. If you all find my question is hard to understand, please let me know. • Why is my Python OpenGL render2DTexture function so slow?

  SOLVED: The problem was actually using time.time() every CPU cycle to see whether the next frame should be drawn or not. The time it takes to execute time.time() was having an impact on the FPS. I made this function for drawing 2D textures as images in a 2D view in my OpenGL application. After doing some testing I found that it takes up 1-2 fps per texture. I know I am probably doing something wrong in this code. Any ideas? I am limiting the FPS to 60. Edit: When I disable the texture rendering it adds about 15% fps back. When I disabled text rendering it adds about 15% fps back. When i disable both barely any fps is consumed anymore. IE: 20 out of 60 fps with both on. 30 out of 60 when one is disabled. 58 out of 60 when both are disabled. When rendering the text on a button ( the control I'm using to test this ), it only "prepares" the text when the button label is set. • AMQP gem specifying a dead letter exchange

  I've specified a queue on the RabbitMQ server called MyQueue. It is durable and has x-dead-letter-exchange set to MyQueue.DLX. And since there is only one open at each time, it should work. I tried to add session.close() after the commit, but I got Exception in thread "main" org.hibernate.SessionException: Session was already closed So how to solve the problem?

• Mysql issue with decimal

  Hello, I have two fields - amount (decimal (11, 2)) - gift_amount (decimal (11, 2)) When I do an update on either for a value equal to or below 999.99, it saves correctly. However, if I go over that, then it drops the value right back to down 1 - 10. Is this a known issue or am I going wrong using decimal? • Is there a disassembler + debugger for java (ala OllyDbg / SoftICE for assembler)?

  Is there a utility similar to OllyDbg / SoftICE for java? I.e. execute class (from jar / with class path) and, without source code, show the disassembly of the intermediate code with ability to step through / step over / search for references / edit specific intermediate code in memory / apply edit to file... If not, is it even possible to write something like this (assuming we're willing to live without hotspot for the debug duration)? Edit: I'm not talking about JAD or JD or Cavaj. These are fine decompilers, but I don't want a decompiler for several reasons, most notable is that their output is incorrect (at best, sometimes just plain wrong). I'm not looking for a magical "compiled bytes to java code" - I want to see the actual bytes that are about to be executed. Also, I'd like the ability to change those bytes (just like in an assembly debugger) and, hopefully, write the changed part back to the class file. Edit2: I know javap exists - but it does only one way (and without any sort of analysis). Example (code taken from the vmspec documentation): From java code, we use "javac" to compile this: void setIt(int value) { i = value; } int getIt() { return i; } to a java .class file. • How to solve concurrency problems in ASP.NET Windows-Workflow and ActiveRecord/NHibernate?

  I have found that ActiveRecord uses the Session-Scope object within the ASP.NET application and that if the web-site is read-write we can have a tug-o-war between the Workflow's own Data-Access SessionScope and that of the ASP.NET site. I would really like to have the WindowsWorkflow Runtime use the same object session as the web-site however, they have different lifetimes. Sometimes, a web-request may save a very simple piece of data which would execute quickly however, if the web-site kicks off a workflow process.. how can that workflow make data-modifications while still allowing the Appliaction_EndRequest to dispose the ASP.NET SessionScope ... it's like ownership of the SessionScope should be shared between the workflow runtime and the ASP.NET website. Manual Workflow Scheduler may be the Savior... if a workflow is synchronous and merely uses CallExternalMethod to interact with the Host then we could constrain all the data-access to the host.. then the sessionScope can exist once. This however, won't solve the problem of a delay activity... if this delay fires, we could need to update data... in this case we'd need an isolated Session Scope and concurrency may arise. This however, differs from SharePoint workflows where it seems that the SharePoint workflow can save data from the web and the workflow and that concurrency is handled through other means. Can anyone offer any suggestions on how to allow the workflow to manage data and play nice with ASP.NET web sites?

• Flash CS5- Problem with "navigateToURL" in web-browswer hosted on MySpace

  I made a quick flash document for my friend who posted it his MySpace. The document has 3 buttons, each with a URL attached to them. When I play the SWF file locally, the links work fine, however once it's published to MySpace, the links refuse to work. The hand icon comes up so it understands them at least as buttons, but it seems to do nothing when clicked in the web-browser. Also, I can open the SWF in my browser and it also works fine. I'm using Flash CS5 and working in ActionScript 3.0. The three buttons are on one layer called "Buttons". I right click the button and click "Actions". From there, I click the "Code Snippets" and under the folder "Actions" there is an item called "Click to Go To Webpage". Here is the code it gives you by default: button_2.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, fl_ClickToGoToWebPage_6); function fl_ClickToGoToWebPage_6(event:MouseEvent):void { navigateToURL(new URLRequest("http://www.adobe.com"), "_blank"); } I heard there was a problem with MySpace not allowing action scripts, but after checking the source code of the web-page, the values in the "param" code seem to "always" allow action scripts. At any point, I'm lost and not sure what it causing this. I don't think it's a browser issue, since it's working fine when I execute the SWF by itself, and when I load it into Firefox. It's just seems MySpace is having a problem with it. Any advice is appreciated.
