• Batch break up after call other batch file

  i have the problem, that my batch process breaking up each time after call a other batch file. The batch files are used to run a make process out from IBM Rhapsody. There convert the call from Rhapsody to the Visual Studio tools. So nmake will be called from the batch after make different settings. The scripts aren’t written completely from me, I only adapt theme to run under both windows architecture versions, x86 and x64. The first script (vs2005_make.bat) will be called from Rhapsody and run to the “call” statement. The second script (Vcvars_VisualStudio2005.bat) runs to the end. But the first script isn’t resume working, at this point the process break up without a error message. I'm not very familiar with batch files, this is the first time I make more than simple console commands in a batch file. So I hope I have given all information’s which needed, otherwise ask me. • Ubuntu/Windows suddenly freezes

  I've a strange problem with my ubuntu 10.04 installation. Whenever i boot into ubuntu the entire system freezes / hangs soon after (~ 2 mins in). This problem exists on my windows 7 installation too. However if i start World of Warcraft or Warcraft on windows it doesnt hang for the duration i'm playing the game. After i stop playing and exit the game my laptop hangs inside 2 mins. Here is when it gets weirder. If i disconnect the charger, the laptop doesn't hang. However when I start it in ubuntu recovery mode and drop to root shell and use the 'startx' command everything works perfectly.   I'm trying to write a Greasemonkey script to update the onclick value of a bunch of links on a page.   I was unable to find any reference to this in the documentations... Is assigning to a double (or any other simple type, including boolean) an atomic operation viewed from the perspective of threads? double value = 0; public void First() { while(true) { value = (new Random()).NextDouble(); } } public void Second() { while(true) { Console.WriteLine(value); } } In this code sample, first method is called in one thread, and the second in another. Can the second method get a messed up value if it gets its execution during assignment to the variable in another thread? I don't care if I recieve the old value, it's only important to receive a valid value (not one where 2 out of 8 bytes are set). I know it's a stupid question, but I want to be sure, cause I don't know how CLR actually sets the variables. Thanks

  I'm setting up a net.tcp WCF service using instructions here: http://blogs.msdn.com/swiss_dpe_team/archive/2008/02/08/iis-7-support-for-non-http-protocols.aspx One of the steps says to do the following: "If you open the IIS7 management console and you look at the advance setting of our IIS7HostedService Web Application, you will see that in the Enabled Protocols section just http is defined. You now have to add net.tcp (separated by a comma), so that our service will be able to respond also to TCP requests." This is fine, but what if I want to use the Cassini / VS2010 ASP.NET development server to debug (hitting F5 or cntrl-F5)? I don't think there's a way to change the settings in that IIS. Or is there? Are other programmers just so awesome that they don't need to go through the debugger? Or do they use wsHttpBinding?

But for me it does not work. Calling app/console translation:extract de --dir=src/ --output-dir=app/Resources/translations --output-format=xliff --keep Just puts all messages in the messages.de.xliff file. But if I set the domain manually for a given label like {{ label.name|trans({}, 'app') }} And execute the same extract command as above, then I get a new file app.de.xliff Is there anything more to do when using trans_default_domain?

I want to select an image from iPhone (camera or library) and send to php via ajax. http://wiki.phonegap.com/iPhone:-Camera-API I'm using the phonegap framework, Xcode iPhone SDK version 3.1.x. On clicking button it calls function with parameter 0 or 1, but it does not initialize camera or display the library. I used the same code as in the above link. it shows this error in debug console: 2010-03-25 23:36:02.337 PhoneGap[7433:207] Camera.getPicture: Camera not available. simulator dsnt have camera, but photos(from library) also not wokring! what might be the error? i think when using navigator.camera.getPicture first check for camera and if not break and shws error ~?

• How to reinstall OEM Windows 98 SE?

  I'm trying to install Windows 98 SE on an old PC and it's not going well. I run into this problem. Searching for Boot Record from Floppy..OK Starting Windows 98... TOSHIBA Enhanced-IDE CD/DVD-ROM Device Driver (ATAPI) Version 2.24 (C)Copyright Toshiba Corp. 1995-1999. All rights reserved. Device Name : TOSCD001 Number of units : 1 MSCDEX Version 2.25 Copyright (C) MIcrosoft Corp. 1986-1995. All rights reserved. Drive Z: = Driver TOSCD001 unit 0 TOSHIBA MACHINE Invalid drive specification Path not found - C:\TOOLS\CDROMDRV.SYS Invalid drive specification Invalid drive specification After that last line, it leaves me at a bitmap image displaying instructions to reboot with Ctrl+Alt+Del. It doesn't say why I have to reboot, and it doesn't state any error type, it just want's me to reboot for no apparent reason. After reboot, it just boots up from Floppy again and it cycles through the same thing all over again. The computer has been restored to original specification. Original system recovery "CD-ROM" discs are available and they are not scratched or anything, they are in very good condition. It's a set of 3 CDs, and the first disc labeled "1/3" should be the one holding the OEM version of Windows 98 SE. There is also a boot disk for Windows 98. I'm not sure what the other two discs are for. This computer came with three language support, so those could be holding different language versions or additional OEM discs. But I'm quite sure that the first disc holds the main operating system. BIOS has been set to optimized defaults. Boot priority is as follows; Floppy, IDE-0, CD-ROM. Under Standard CMOS settings, BIOS scans and autoconfigures both the hard drive and the CD/DVD drive. On POST it finds them both, and it finds the DOS bootdisk and starts preparing for installation, as you can see above. So what's this "invalid drive specification" about? Why isn't the installation starting? Updates Update 1 Booting from CD disc 2 In desperation I tried booting from the second CD. Boot order was; Floppy, CD-ROM, IDE-0. It boots normally from floppy disk, just like above, but then returns following. File not found - Z:\3LNGINST\TOOLS\PARTINFO.TXT I accidentally pressed some key on the keyboard, and before I knew it, the following screen showed up. Create Primary DOS Partition Current fixed disk drive: 1 Verifying drive integrity, 16% complete. After completion another screen showed up. Create Primary DOS Partition Current fixed disk drive: 1 Do you wish to use the maximum available size for a Primary DOS Partition and make the partition active (Y/N)?....................? [Y] Verifying drive integrity, 7% complete. I didn't choose Yes, it was set automatically. After completion the computer was automatically rebooted. Then I got a new screen. This is in Norwegian/Swedish/Finnish. Here's the message in Swedish. Hårddisken är inte klar för återställning av programvara. Installationsprogrammet måste skapa nya partitioner (C:, D:, ...). VARNING! ALLT INNEHÅLL PÅ HÅRDDISKEN KOMMER ATT RADERAS! Tryck på en tangent om du vill fortsätta (eller CTRL-C för att avbryta). Let me translate that. Hard drive is not ready for restoring the software. Setup program has to create new partitions (C:, D:, ...). WARNING! ALL CONTENTS ON THE HARD DRIVE WILL BE ERASED! Press any key to continue (or CTRL-C to cancel). I pressed Enter and it started formatting the hard drive. WARNING, ALL DATA ON NON-REMOVABLE DISK DRIVE c: WILL BE LOST! Proceed with Format (Y/N)?y Formatting 14,67.53M 1 percent completed. It automatically sets the "y" option and starts formatting. Rebooting with CD disc 1 After completing this operation it rebooted automatically. I inserted CD disc 1 and there was no issue with "invalid drive specification" anymore. Instead, a bitmap menu was displayed where it asked me to choose a language. And I thought I had it there for a while but it didn't work out. After choosing the language, another menu was displayed asking me to choose a type of recovery (restore pre-installed software OR restore hard drive partitions and pre-installed software). I opted for the second option. Then a data destruction warning showed up where I just pressed 1 to Continue. It did something and then just rebooted and the same formatting screen shows up as before. So something is not right. Am I doing it wrong? I seem to have come past the CD-ROM driver issue at least. But now I'm stuck with this problem... it seems to have something to do with the hard drive. Like... why is is it always trying to format it? Isn't it enough to format it once? By the way, it needs to be formatted as FAT32, right? Windows 98 doesn't support NTFS? I think FDISK should have taken care of this already. I know this is an old hard drive, but I connected to my main computer and it was able to read and write to it without a problem. It does have bad sectors though, but it's expected on an old hard drive like this. Any ideas?.. Update 2 I seem to be repeatedly getting stuck at the format screen where it asks to press any key to continue. So tried to cancel it this time with Ctrl+C. This leaves me at: A:\TOOLS> I can do DIR and CD and I tried to change to Z: drive. I tried running "setup" but there is no such thing. As we all know, static class variables get defined twice: once in the class definition and once outside the class definition which establishes storage space. e.g. // in .h file class CFoo { // ... static int x; }; // in .cpp file int CFoo::x = 42; Now in the VC10 headers we get something like this: template<class _Elem> class numpunct : public locale::facet { // ... _CRTIMP2_PURE static locale::id id; // ... } When the header is included in an application, _CRTIMP2_PURE is defined as __declspec(dllimport), which means that the variable is imported from a dll. Now the header also contains the following template<class _Elem> locale::id numpunct<_Elem>::id; Note the absence of the __declspec(dllimport) qualifier. i.e. The class declaration says that the static linkage of the id variable is in the dll, but for the general case, it gets declared outside the dll. For the known cases, there are specialisations. template locale::id numpunct<char>::id; template locale::id numpunct<wchar_t>::id; These are protected by #ifs so that they are only included when building the DLL. They are excluded otherwise. i.e. the char and wchar_t versions of numpunct ARE inside the dll So we have the class definition saying that id's storage is in the DLL, but that is only true for the char and wchar_t specialisations, meaning that my unsigned char version is doomed. :-( The only way forward that I can think of is to create my own specialisation: basically copying it from the header file and fixing it. This raises many issues. Anybody have a better idea?

  We are a medium-large non-profit company, with around 1000 staff and volunteers, and have been using MS Exchange (currently 2003) for our mail system for years. I recently attended a Google conference where they were positing that "Cloud computing is the way of the future", and encouraging us to switch from doing our own email with Exchange, to using GMail and Google Apps for everything. Additionally, one of our departments has been pushing from inside to do this transition within their own department, if not throughout the entire organization. I can definitely see some benefits - such as: Archive space - we never seem to have the space our users want, and of course, the more we get, the more we have to back up OS Agnostic - Exchange is definitely built for windows, and with mac and linux users on the rise, these users increasingly demand better tools / support. Google offers this. Better archiving - potential of e-discovery, that doesn't exist in a practical way with our current setup. Switching would relieve us of a fair bit of server administration, give more options to our end users, and free up the server resources we are now using for Exchange. Our IT department wants to be perceived as providing up-to-date solutions to technical problems, and this change would definitely provide such an image. Google's infrastructure is obviously much more robust than ours, and they employ some of the world's best security and network experts. However, there are also some serious drawbacks: We would be essentially outsourcing one of our mission-critical systems to a 3rd party The switch would inevitably involve Google Apps and perhaps more as well. That means we would have a-lot more at the mercy of a single (potentially weak) password. (is there a way to make this more secure using a password plus physical key of some sort??) Our data would not remain under our roof - or even in our country (Canada). This obviously has plusses on the Disaster Recovery side, but I think there are potential negatives on the legal side. I can't imagine that somebody as large as Google would be as responsive as we would want with regard to non-critical issues such as tracing missing emails, etc. (not sure how much access we would have to basic mail logs - for instance) Can anyone help me evaluate this decision? What issues am I overlooking? What experiences have you had with this transition (or the opposite - gmail to Exchange) Can you add to the points I have already outlined?

• [cocoa] NSSearchField not working as expected

  Hi, I'm trying to follow Marcus Zarra in his book 'Core Data'. In the book, he makes a small sample application, but it doesn't give much help when things don't work out... He starts out by visually designing three entities, and then adding array controllers for each entity to the main nib. Second, he adds a tableview and some other visual components to show data from the array controllers. So far, I have managed to follow, but now he adds a search field to the gui, and binds it to the same array controller as one of the tableviews. Expected behavior would be for the tableview to get filtered when typing in the search field, but nothing happens. How do I find out what's wrong? The relevant parts from the nib is as follow: NSArrayController Recipes - Mode = Entity - Enitity Name = Recipe TableView w/TableColumn - Value Bind To Recipes -- Controller Key = arrangedObjects -- Model Key Path = name Search Field - Predicate Bind To Recipes -- Controller Key = filterPredicate -- Model Key Path = name -- Display name = predicate -- Predicate Format = keyPath contains $value There are no relevant messages in the console. regards, -Vegar

• PerformanceCounters on .NET 4.0 & Windows 7

  I have a program that works fine on VS2008 and Vista, but I'm trying it on Windows 7 and VS2010 / .NET Framework 4.0 and it's not working. Ultimately the problem is that System.Diagnostics.PerformanceCounterCategory.GetCategories() (and other PerformanceCounterCategory methods) is not working. I'm getting a System.InvalidOperationException with the message "Cannot load Counter Name data because an invalid index '' was read from the registry." I can reproduce this with the very simple program shown below: class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { foreach (var pc in System.Diagnostics.PerformanceCounterCategory.GetCategories()) { Console.WriteLine(pc.CategoryName); } } } I did make sure I'm running the program as an admin. It doesn't matter if I run it with VS/Debugger attached or not. I don't have another machine with Windows 7 or VS2010 to test it on, so I'm not sure which is complicating things here (or both?). It is Windows 7 x64 and I've tried forcing the app to run in both x32 and x64 but get the same results.

• jquery error() calls showing up in firebug profile

  I am working on an ASP.NET application that make a lot of jquery and javascript calls and trying to optimize the client side code as much as possible. (This web application is only designed to run on special hardware that has very low memory and processing power.) The profiler in firebug is great for figuring out what calls are taking up the most time. I have already optimized a lot of my selectors and it is much faster. However the profile shows a lot of jquery error() calls. In the attached image of the firebug profile window you can see it was called 52 times, accounting for 15.4 of the processing time. Is that normal for jquery to call its error() like that? My code works flawlessy, and there are no error messages in the firefox error console. It seems like that is a significant performance hit. Is there anyway to get more info on what the errors are? Thanks.

  Hello, I'm not sure what i'm doing wrong but I try to catch touches on a MKMapView object. • Visual Studio 2010: adding a service reference to a 2008 generated wsdl

  Doesn't produce a app.config . In my team there is a guy who has Visual Studio 2008, he created a webservice. Then there is me, adding this webservice to a console project. Adding the service reference goes without problems but no valid app.config is generated. It's just empty <configuration> </configuration> When I disable 'reuse types' in my service reference it works but then I get an ambiguous error. Is this a bug? I found http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2159107/visual-studio-does-not-generate-app-config-content-when-add-service-reference this one, but there is no solution there, so I thought I bump the problem up again. • Looking For a .NET Task Scheduling library

  I'm looking for the following features: Scheduler uses SQL Server as the backing store Tasks can be scheduled by one application and executed by another I can have multiple applications, each of which handles a specific subset of tasks Tasks can be triggered at specific times, now, or based on the success or failure of other tasks Data can be attached to tasks There are a number of nice-to-have's, like a web management console, clustering/failover support, customizable logging, but they're not requirements. On the surface Quartz.NET has a nice interface and seems to fit the bill as it satisfies (1), (4 with some custom work) and (5), but I've been beating my head against (2) and (3) seems like I'd have to invest more effort than it's worth, especially given how convoluted the innards of it are. Any other libraries out there? Open source is preferred, with free as a close runner up. It's really hard to get management to pay for things like this when it's not their idea.

• LINQPad - Dump extension method - I want one!

  Hi, LINQPad is amazing, particularly useful is the Dump() extension methods which renders objects and structs of almost any type, anonymous or not, to the console. Initially, when I moved to Visual Studio 2010, I tried to make my own Dump method using a delegate to get the values to render for anonymous types etc. It's getting pretty complicated though and whilst it was fun and educational at first what I need is a solid implementation. Having checked out the LinqPad code in reflector I am even more assured that I'm not going to get the implementation right. Is there a free library I can include to provide the Dump functionality? • setting jQuery .data() within .getJSON callback

  I'm doing a couple of .getJSON calls and if any one of them succeeds, I'm trying to set a bool to true so I can then do some other stuff elsewhere on the page. I was trying to use jquery's .data() function, but I don't seem able to set it from inside the .getJSON callback. for example: $('#citations_button').data('citations', false); $.getJSON(apaurl, function(data) { $('#apacite').html("<td class=\"bibInfoLabel\">APA Citation</td><td class=\"bibInfoData\">"+data+"</td>"); $('#citations_button').data('citations', true); }, "html"); // other .getJSONs look like above... console.log("citations? "+$('#citations_button').data('citations')); prints false, even when I know the data came through. I thought this would work since .data() uses the cache to store the key/value pair. how can i flag successes?? appreciate any assistance!!
