  our client needs to shortcuts to particular pages We need to redirect non existent urls like http://site.com/promotion1 to the actual URL similar to http://site.com/promotions/promotion1/tabid/799/language/en-AU/Default.aspx ... I've sent a list of appropriate DNN modules to our client but it may take them forever to get back to me. In the mean time they still submitting requests to us to create redirects for them. if there's no cost involved then i wont have to wait for them to get back to me. so I'm looking for a Quick and free way to enable the clients to set these up on this own. • Git under windows: MSYS or Cygwin?

  I plan to migrate my projects over to git, and I'm currently wondering which is the best and / or most stable option under windows. From what I gather I basically have 2.5 options: MSYSgit git under Cygwin (aka 2.5) MSYSgit from a Cygwin prompt (given that Cygwin git is already installed). Note: IMO Cygwin in itself is a big plus as you can have access to pretty much all the *nix command line tools, as where with MSYSgit bash, you only have access to a rather small subset of these tools. Given that, what option would you suggest?

  I'm a c# developer in a medium/small company. I use to do quick test of the apps that my workmates made and they use to test my applications. We test each form based in our experience. (yes, I know this is not a very formal method) Now a new guy without experience are going to join our team. We think now is the momento to make a little list of things that all we should test in each form. Divided by categories. For example usability: Test that the taborder of each control are properly setted, or Valitacion: Test that the max lenght of each textbox match with the max lenght of a field in the DB...etc We don't one to Reinvent the Wheels, so I want to know if such kind of document already exists.   Hi there, I created a calendar list, and I added the calendar web part in another web part page. I noticed that i can not change the view without going to edit mode, then go to modify shared web part. But in the home page of the calendar. There is a same calendar web part with a drop down menu to change views. Also, there is a small calendar connected to the main calendar web part in the left navigation area. I don't know how to add it to my web part page. How can i make it look the same on my web part page? Thanks, Jason

  Hello people, I'm getting crazy with a small problem here, I keep getting an error and I cant seem to figure out why, the code is supposed to change the range of a list, so if we give it a list with values (1 2 3 4) and we want to change the range in 11 to fourteen the result would be (11 12 13 14) the problem is that the last function called scale-list will give back an error saying: Debugger entered--Lisp error: (wrong-type-argument number-or-marker-p nil) anybody has a clue why? • Question about WinForms TrackBar control in .Net

  Does anyone know the millisecond interval, used by the framework trackbar, between calling the ValueChanged event when moving the grip with a mouse? I've implemented my own trackbar and I'd like the behaviour to be consistent with what the user expects. I've had a look in reflector but it's one of those controls where most of the implementation is not viewable. ETA: Actually, thinking about it, it's not as simple as that. For small changes, the TrackBar is raising the event for every change. However, if you make a large fast change with the grip, it will not raise the event for every step. Just wondering exactly how the framework does this? Thanks

• How do I make a google larger by scale

  I've just started using google charts and want to use it in a small project I'm workin on but I've bumped into a problem. The thing is I want the charts rather big at a static size and look good but I'm generating the charts dynamically with php. Now the problem is that I can't get it to scale properly in width but height is perfectly fine. Here's an example chart I've generated: Parameters: cht=bvo&chs=400x400 chd=t:1,4,1 chxr=2,0,4,1 chds=0,4 chco=4d89f9 chxt=x,x,y,y chxl=0:|3|7|26|1:|Correct+answers|3:|People You see how the chart fills the 400px of height but not the width. I've searched and look through the api but I can't get it right.

• Detecting your application's install path in Java?

  Hi, I have made a small application in Java and I would like to make a windows installer for it using the Nullsoft Scriptable Install System (http://nsis.sourceforge.net/Main_Page). The application I made needs to save user preferences somewhere and it currently saves it in the user's home directory (e.g. c:\Users\danny or /home/users/danny). However if the windows installer installs the application to e.g. c:\Program Files\whatever\ I should probably save the preferences file there too, right? How would I detect that directory path in Java? What would be a good cross-platform approach to this without losing the benefits of a windows uninstaller for windows users e.g. start menu icons, installer option, etc? Should I just continue saving my preferences in the user's home path and clutter it up? Thanks very much,

I wrote it some time ago and don't want to modify it to the extent of turning it into a module but would like to regression test it before adding some small functional changes. So far I have use Test::Command tests => 10; exit_is_num($cmd, 0); .... But the command produces some files and I want to check those files are the same as I expect (either equal or match some regexp). Any suggestions

I also can add a table (test table called Person with Name and Age), this works good. • How to have a PHP Website tool with a version check

  Hi, So I work on a small php website tool that a few people use and what I'm looking to have added is a little version checker in it. The tool is normally hosted by others on different servers/domains/whatever have you so I'm having a bit of a trouble figuring out how I can accomplish this and do so in the best possible method. So what I'm looking to do is have a webpage that just has a number on it which is the latest version. Lets say 3.2.2 is displayed on www.myawesomephptool.com/version.html in some way shape or form . Now on their installation when they open up their admin page it pulls in that 3.2.2 as the latest version to see if they are on that version. So trying to keep it simple on requirements too.   There are so many lightboxes to choose from, I'm looking for a very lightweight one to use in an embedded javascript widget that would be used on a number of different web sites. This would work in a similar way to the GetSatisfaction/UserVoice feedback tab. Here are the requirements for the lightbox: Very small javascript download (animation not needed) Self contained, not dependent on any libraries such as jquery, etc. Works in major browsers Lightbox displays HTML content from a given URL Close button (like GetSatisfaction or UserVoice) Dims background Avoids javascript namespace conflicts (or can easily be made to avoid them) CSS styling of lightbox does not interfere with site styling Have you used an existing lightbox scripts for this same purpose with similar requirements?   I want child figure (org.eclipse.draw2d.Figure) to be relative to the top-right corner of the parent (I want place some small icon, which will be ImageFigure, to be 12 pixels from top and right borders). Is there an existing layout manager that can layout child this way? The org.eclipse.draw2d.XYLayout is not capable of measuring position relative to corner other than top-left. Of course, I can: Write layout manager myself Layout children figure every time bounds are changed for the parent (in parent layout() method). However, I would like to know if some existing layout manager provides that functionality.

• I am getting an error when trying to use melt() on a dataframe containing Dates

  I'd like to melt the dataframe so that in one column i have dates in a second i have username as the variable and finally the value. I'm getting this error: Error in as.Date.numeric(value) : 'origin' must be supplied and while I understand the error I'm not exactly sure how to get around it. • Why GPRS modem provides embedded TCP/IP stack

  My colleague and I are mining the GPRS MODEM market for a module suitable for use with embedded Linux. During the market scan, we see that several vendors highlight that their MODEMs include an embedded TCP/IP stack. This makes me wonder: when we are using embedded Linux which already contains a TCP/IP stack and connects using PPP, will it make use of the stack included in the GPRS MODEM at all? My current assumption is that the stack is included for use with tiny microcontroller OS that do not supply their own stack. Also some of the MODEMs allow for running small applications IN the MODEM baseband processor which could explain the embedded stack... So: is the TCP/IP stack supplied by the GPRS MODEM superfluous when using it with an HL OS or did I overlook something?

  Hi, I am new to XML and am having a small problem in Flash. I have a number of buttons. Each of these buttons need to open up a different URL which is in a xml file (I have added only one button for now (banstead), as I wasn´t sure how to add more).   I feel like this question has been repeated here, but I couldn't find it. What open-source programmer's editor or IDE is best for writing code in C? A GUI and integration with Clang for static code analysis or git for version control would be convenient, but aren't necessary. I would ideally use two editors: one feature-filled IDE and one with a small memory footprint, but editors like jEdit, Geany, Diakonos, nano, etc. don't satisfy many of my needs, which include: Good support for refactoring and code completion. Extensibility in C or a "modern" scripting language (i.e. Ruby or Python) Relatively good performance and lack of bloated-ness

• Facebook Developer Toolkit doesn't redirect after authorization

• Floating point arithmetic is too reliable.

  I understand that floating point arithmetic as performed in modern computer systems is not always consistent with real arithmetic. I am trying to contrive a small C# program to demonstrate this. eg: static void Main(string[] args) { double x = 0, y = 0; x += 20013.8; x += 20012.7; y += 10016.4; y += 30010.1; Console.WriteLine("Result: "+ x + " " + y + " " + (x==y)); Console.Write("Press any key to continue . . . "); Console.ReadKey(true); } However, in this case, x and y are equal in the end. Is it possible for me to demonstrate the inconsistency of floating point arithmetic using a program of similar complexity, and without using any really crazy numbers? I would like, if possible, to avoid mathematically correct values that go more than a few places beyond the decimal point.

• Using sed for introducing newline after each > in a +1 gigabyte large one-line text file

  I have a giant text file (about 1,5 gigabyte) with xml data in it. All text in the file is on a single line, and attempting to open it in any text editor (even the ones mentioned in this thread: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/159521/text-editor-to-open-big-giant-huge-large-text-files ) either fails horribly or is totally unusable due to the text editor hanging when attempting to scroll. I was hoping to introduce newlines into the file by using the following sed command sed 's/>/>\n/g' data.xml > data_with_newlines.xml Sadly, this caused sed to give me a segmentation fault. From what I understand, sed reads the file line-by-line which would in this case mean that it attempts to read the entire 1,5 gig file in one line which would most certainly explain the segfault. However, the problem remains. How do I introduce newlines after each in the xml file? Do I have to resort to writing a small program to do this for me by reading the file character-by-character?

• Why does appending "" to a String save memory?

  I used a variable with a lot of data in it, say String data. I wanted to use a small part of this string in the following way: this.smallpart = data.substring(12,18); After some hours of debugging (with a memory visualizer) I found out that the objects field smallpart remembered all the data from data, although it only contained the substring. When I changed the code into: this.smallpart = data.substring(12,18)+""; ..the problem was solved! Now my application uses very little memory now! How is that possible? Can anyone explain this? I think this.smallpart kept referencing towards data, but why? UPDATE: How can I clear the big String then? Will data = new String(data.substring(0,100)) do the thing?

• How to use Page Object pattern with Cucumber and Webrat / Selenium?

  I'm looking at a cucumber test suite that is somewhat brittle right now; many small steps, and no knowledge of the page itself. I'd like to factor out the logic involved in the step definitions inside a series of Selenium PageObjects. As seen here. However, because I'm using Webrat and not Selenium, everything has to go through the Webrat model. So I cannot do class MyPage < Selenium::WebPage end because that adds a direct dependency. So I have to route everything through Webrat while still maintaining the Selenium Page object goodness. No documentation on this that I can see: if someone has anything on Webrat + PageModel I'd love to see it.
