  I rather enjoy adding practical eye-candy to the networking community I've been developing but as things start to stack up I worry about load times. Is it truly faster to have users load (a hopefully cached) copy of jquery from Google's repositories? Does using jQuery for AJAX calls improve/reduce efficiency over basic javascript xmlHTTP requests? Is there a practical way to cut down the number of included scripts? For example, I include jQuery and jQuery UI from google, table sorter, and a growl plug-in.

  Hi, Does anyone know if it's possible to put GWT application on vkontakte.ru (for the note, it's the most popular social networking site for the russian-speaking audience, 75+ mln subscribers). I know that integration with Facebook is possible, but as long as vkontakte.ru is not a direct Facebook-clone (they use different engines), I'm not sure, the same integration scenario will work for vkontakte. I know it can be changed system wide via the registry ( http://www.psc.edu/networking/projects/tcptune/OStune/winxp/winxp_stepbystep.html ) Also, it seems like this is possible *nix via: int on=1; setsockopt(s,IPPROTO_TCP,TCP_RFC1323,&on,sizeof(on)); Is there a Windows equivalent? Using Twitter as an example, they have pages labeled twitter.com/about and another page labeled twitter.com/{$username} However, how do you differentiate between say a user who has registers on to our site as "about" then. From this we are going to have a server conflict between the user "about" and the page about. What is the best way to handle this?

• Compatibility between Qt and Boost sockets libraries

  Hello In my work, I'm developing a Viewer client for a Offshore simulation server, using sockets to send the simulation data from the Simulator to de Viewer. But, the server uses Boost.asio as it's sockets library. As the client uses Qt for it's GUI, I was wondering if there is any problem in using de Qt Networking library for handling the sockets. • Boost.Test: Looking for a working non-Trivial Test Suite Example / Tutorial

  The Boost.Test documentation and examples don't really seem to contain any non-trivial examples and so far the two tutorials I've found here and here while helpful are both fairly basic. I would like to have a master test suite for the entire project, while maintaining per module suites of unit tests and fixtures that can be run independently. I'll also be using a mock server to test various networking edge cases. I'm on Ubuntu 8.04, but I'll take any example Linux or Windows since I'm writing my own makefiles anyways.

  I am creating a social networking site and one of the requirements is to have the subdomain like URL for each user. For example, for the user1 his profile page will be user1.mysitename.com and for the user2 profile page will be user2.mysitename.com. Can it be done using url aliasing? basically user1.mysitename.com should be www.mysitename.com/profile.aspx?username=user1 I will be hosting this in windows 2003 (IIS6), any help is highly appreciated.
