C#, WinForms: What would prevent KeyDown events from chaining up from focused control up to main For

As i understand it, when a keyboard button is pressed it should invoke the KeyDown event for the control which has focus. Then, the KeyDown for the parent control, so on and so forth until it reaches main form. UNLESS - along the chain one of the EventHandlers did: e.SuppressKeyPress = true; e.Handled = true; In my case, KeyDown events never get to the main form. I have Form - Panel - button for example. Panel doesn't offer a KeyDown Event, but it shouldn't stop it from reaching the main form right? Right now as a work around I set every single control to call an event handler I wrote. I'm basically trying to prevent Alt-F4 from closing the application and instead minimize it.

When I bind a function to a checkbox element like: $("#myCheckbox").click( function() { alert($(this).is(":checked")); }); The checkbox changes it checked attribute before the event is triggered, it's it normal behavior, thus giving and inverse result. However, when I do: $("#myCheckbox").click(); The checkbox changes it checked attribute after the event is triggered. My question is, is there a way to trigger the click event from jquery like a normal click would do (first scenario)? PS: I've already tried with trigger('click');

Notifying JMS Message sender (Web App) after message processed by Listener

I have a Web application (Flex 4 - Spring Blaze DS - Spring 3.0) which sends out an JMS event to a batch application (Standalone java) I am using JMS infrastrucure provided by Spring (spring JmsTemplate,SimpleMessageListenerContainer,MessageListenerAdapter) with TIBCO EMS. Is there any way by which we can notify a web user once message processing is completed by listener. One of the way to send a response event which will be listened by web application; but how to address following scenario: User1 click on submit - which in turn sends a JMS message Listener on receiving message processes the message (message processing may take 20-30 mins to complete). Listener application sends out another JMS event "Process_complete" As this is a web application; there are n users currently logged into the application. so how to identify a correct user / what if user is already logged off? Is there any way to handle this? Please post your views.

I have to produce the data set from those tables into resultant dataset (that I'd be able to insert into third table, but that's irrelevant). events_source_1 contain historic event data and I have to do get the most recent event (for such I'm doing the following: select event_type,b,c,max(event_date),null next_event_date from events_source_1 group by event_type,b,c,event_date,null events_source_2 contain the future event data and I have to do the following: select event_type,b,c,null event_date, next_event_date from events_source_2 where b>sysdate; How to put outer join statement to fill the void (i.e. when same event_type,b,c found from event_source_2 then next_event_date will be filled with the first date found GREATLY APPRECIATE FOR YOUR HELP IN ADVANCE.

SQLAlchemy declarative syntax with autoload in Pylons

I would like to use autoload to use an existings database. I know how to do it without declarative syntax (model/_init_.py): def init_model(engine): """Call me before using any of the tables or classes in the model""" t_events = Table('events', Base.metadata, schema='events', autoload=True, autoload_with=engine) orm.mapper(Event, t_events) Session.configure(bind=engine) class Event(object): pass This works fine, but I would like to use declarative syntax: class Event(Base): __tablename__ = 'events' __table_args__ = {'schema': 'events', 'autoload': True} Unfortunately, this way I get: sqlalchemy.exc.UnboundExecutionError: No engine is bound to this Table's MetaData. Pass an engine to the Table via autoload_with=<someengine>, or associate the MetaData with an engine via metadata.bind=<someengine> The problem here is that I don't know where to get the engine from (to use it in autoload_with) at the stage of importing the model (it's available in init_model()). I tried adding meta.Base.metadata.bind(engine) to environment.py but it doesn't work. Anyone has found some elegant solution?

Problems crossing the boundary between protected greasemonkey execution space and the unsafeWindow l

Hi guys. Here is my problem: I've registered some callbacks into a Yahoo event driven webpage (betfair.com market views) and am trapping the betsPlaced events with a handler. So far so simple. Next stage is to get the event back into greasemonkey land, and while I know that from greasemoney space you can call unsafeWindow.stuff, there is no reverse operation (by design). So if I want to send the contents of the event over, say, a cometd queue, my carefully set up jquery, greasemonkey, YUI2, betfair environment fails by telling me that unsafeWindow processes cant call GM_ajax stuff. This is obviously safe and sane, but it basically stops me doing what I want to do. Has anyone tried doing this (ignore the cometd stuff, just general ajax calls) and succeeded? I've had a look at pages like this: http://wiki.greasespot.net/0.7.20080121.0%2B_compatibility but it doesnt appear to work for all the calls.

How do I query/filter a to-many relationship in Core Data

I have Customer, Event and Address objects in my data model. Both Customer and Address have a one-to-many relationship to Event. I can get the distinct list of addresses for a customer's events for by doing this: NSSet *addressSet = [customer valueForKeyPath:@"events.address"]; For the part of the UI I'm working on now, I need to display the address from the most recent event prior to now that has an address. I'm starting to go down the path of creating a NSFetchRequest, setting it's entity, sort descriptors, predicate and then looping through the results, but it seems like a lot of code. Am I missing some obvious way of filtering/sorting on the "events" relationship of the Customer object or is creating the NSFetchRequest the best solution?

jQuery li:has(ul) selector issue

I was creating a tree using UL LI list and jQuery. LINQ and ArcObjects

Motivation LINQ (language integrated query) is a component of the Microsoft. NET Framework since version 3.5. It allows a SQL-like query to various data sources such as SQL, XML etc. Like SQL also LINQ to SQL provides a declarative notation of problem solving – i.e. you don’t need describe in detail how a task could be solved, you describe what to be solved at all. This frees the developer from error-prone iterator constructs. Ideally, of course, would be to access features with this way. Then this construct is conceivable: var largeFeatures = from feature in features where (feature.GetValue("SHAPE_Area").ToDouble() > 3000) select feature; or its equivalent as a lambda expression: var largeFeatures = features.Where(feature => (feature.GetValue("SHAPE_Area").ToDouble() > 3000)); This requires an appropriate provider, which manages the corresponding iterator logic. This is easier than you might think at first sight - you have to deliver only the desired entities as IEnumerable<IFeature>. LINQ automatically establishes a state machine in the background, whose execution is delayed (deferred execution) - when you are really request entities (foreach, Count (), ToList (), ..) an instantiation processing takes place, although it was already created at a completely different place. Especially in multiple iteration through entities in the first debuggings you are rubbing your eyes when the execution pointer jumps magically back in the iterator logic. Realization A very concise logic for constructing IEnumerable<IFeature> can be achieved by running through a IFeatureCursor. You return each feature via yield. For an easier usage I have put the logic in an extension method Getfeatures() for IFeatureClass: public static IEnumerable<IFeature> GetFeatures(this IFeatureClass featureClass, IQueryFilter queryFilter, RecyclingPolicy policy) { IFeatureCursor featureCursor = featureClass.Search(queryFilter, RecyclingPolicy.Recycle == policy); IFeature feature; while (null != (feature = featureCursor.NextFeature())) { yield return feature; } //this is skipped in unit tests with cursor-mock if (Marshal.IsComObject(featureCursor)) { Marshal.ReleaseComObject(featureCursor); } } So you can now easily generate the IEnumerable<IFeature>: IEnumerable<IFeature> features = _featureClass.GetFeatures(RecyclingPolicy.DoNotRecycle); You have to be careful with the recycling cursor. After a delayed execution in the same context it is not a good idea to re-iterated on the features. In this case only the content of the last (recycled) features is provided and all the features are the same in the second set. Therefore, this expression would be critical: largeFeatures.ToList(). ForEach(feature => Debug.WriteLine(feature.OID)); because ToList() iterates once through the list and so the the cursor was once moved through the features. So the extension method ForEach() always delivers the same feature. In such situations, you must not use a recycling cursor. Repeated executions of ForEach() is not a problem, because for every time the state machine is re-instantiated and thus the cursor runs again - that's the magic already mentioned above. Perspective Now you can also go one step further and realize your own implementation for the interface IEnumerable<IFeature>. This requires that only the method and property to access the enumerator have to be programmed. In the enumerator himself in the Reset() method you organize the re-executing of the search. This could be archived with an appropriate delegate in the constructor: new FeatureEnumerator<IFeatureclass>(_featureClass, featureClass => featureClass.Search(_filter, isRecyclingCursor)); which is called in Reset(): public void Reset() { _featureCursor = _resetCursor(_t); } In this manner, enumerators for completely different scenarios could be implemented, which are used on the client side completely identical like described above. Thus cursors, selection sets, etc. merge into a single matter and the reusability of code is increasing immensely. On top of that in automated unit tests an IEnumerable could be mocked very easily - a major step towards better software quality. Conclusion Nevertheless, caution should be exercised with these constructs in performance-relevant queries. Because of managing a state machine in the background, a lot of overhead is created. The processing costs additional time - about 20 to 100 percent. In addition, working without a recycling cursor is fast a performance gap. However declarative LINQ code is much more elegant, flawless and easy to maintain than manually iterating, compare and establish a list of results. The code size is reduced according to experience an average of 75 to 90 percent! So I like to wait a few milliseconds longer. As so often it has to be balanced between maintainability and performance - which for me is gaining in priority maintainability. In times of multi-core processors, the processing time of most business processes is anyway not dominated by code execution but by waiting for user input. Set focus to another control after TreeView click

I have a TreeView control in a Windows application. I am opening another window from the TreeView click (Single Click) event (in tabbed environment, so all windows will appear as a tab in Visual Studio). I want to set focus to one control of the new window. The problem is that, I am able to set the focus on the double click event of the TreeView. But same doesn't seem to be working with the TreeView single-click event. Any workarounds?

What preferred way to reconcile keyCode/charCode across browsers?

Based on the properties of the keydown event I would like to ascertain what the current charCode are? Example. For the keydown event when the NumPad0, D0, and Colon key is pressed I would like to know what the associated charcode is. Currently I have a map that contains the charcode associated with that keyCode or use the current if charCode is not specified. keyCode = { Colon: 186, D0: 48, NumPad0: 96, }; charCodes = { 186: 59, 96: 48, }; shiftCharCodes = { 186: 58, 48: 41 }; Also in certain cases the keyCodes are different accross browsers? Example. The keydown event has different keyCode values across browsers. Incompatible classes when loading SWF

I have two ActionScript 3 projects, game(.swf) and minigame(.swf). At runtime the main game loads the minigame via Loader. I also have a shared library (SWC) of event classes, included by both, which minigame will need to dispatch and game will need to listen to. First: Is this possible this way? Second: What will happen if I compile the minigame, then change the event classes so they're incompatible, then compile the main game. Will Flash crash when trying to load the minigame SWF? (I hope so) Third: And what will happen if I change the event classes, but in a way that preserves interface-level compatibility?

Starting out with vote_fu

Hi All, Trying my luck with the vote_fu rails plugin. The functionality looks like exactly what I need for a project of mine, but I have hit a roadblock. I have followed the github readme to the letter, installing it as a plugin. I have put acts_as_voteable on my "Event" model and acts_as_voter on my User model. In the console, when I try: >> event.votes or >> user.votes it successfully returns an empty array. but when I try to do the following: user.vote_for(event) I get "NoMethodError: undefined method `user_id' for #<Vote:0x7f5ed4355540>" Any ideas? I'm probably just missing something obvious, but maybe something is missing from the plugin's readme. Thanks.

So, because my mouse is over the main div, each time i scroll (auto) to a element, the mouseover event is triggered .. And so, the effect is missed.. How do I handle editing of custom types in a C# datagridview?

I have a datagridview in which one column contains a custom class, which I have set using: dgvPeriods.Columns[1].ValueType = typeof(ExDateTime); It is rigged up to display correctly by handling the CellFormatting event, but I'm unsure what event to handle for cell editing. In the absence of doing anything I get a FormatException as the datagridview tries to convert String to ExDateTime as I try to move focus out of the edited cell. I tried adding type conversion to my ExDateTime custom class: public static implicit operator ExDateTime(string b) { return new ExDateTime(b); } But this this didn't work. I also tried handling the DataError event, but this seems to fire too late. The datagridview is not databound.

Detecting Visual Studio Smart-tags events

Is it possible to detect with VSX when any (or a particular) smart tag event is happening? I mean, every time we rename a variable, for example, a smart tag is available that allows us to change it through a form. I'd like to know if I can access that "text is changing" event. I don't mean to have to check for myself if the text is being changed and such, I'd like to make use of VS event system (if there is one). I'm using the TPL (Task Parallel Library) in .NET 4.0. I want to be able to centralize the handling logic of all unhandled exceptions by using the Thread.GetDomain().UnhandledException event. However, in my application, the event is never fired for threads started with TPL code, e.g. Task.Factory.StartNew(...). The event is indeed fired if I use something like new Thread(threadStart).Start(). This MSDN article suggests to use Task#Wait() to catch the AggregateException when working with TPL, but that is not I want because it is not "centralized" enough a mechanism. Does anyone experience same problem at all or is it just me? Do you have any solution for this?

HTML 5 drag-drop into wysiwyg editor in Firefox

I have a wysiwyg editor using the HTML 5 drag-drop api to allow the user to place widgets within the page they are editing. When the OnDrop event fires, I prevent the default event, and insert some html within the editor that represents the widget they inserted. I use execCommand("inserthtml", false, html) for this in Firefox. This works fine in IE, but in Firefox the html is not placed in the location where it was dropped. It always gets placed in the location where the previous selection was, which leads me to believe that cancelling the OnDrop event to override the default drop also cancels the selection change. Any ideas on how to solve this? Thanks!
