  • Matching First Alphanumeric Character skipping (The |An? )

    - by TheLizardKing
I have a list of artists, albums and tracks that I want to sort using the first letter of their respective name. The issue arrives when I want to ignore "The ", "A ", "An " and other various non-alphanumeric characters (Talking to you "Weird Al" Yankovic and [dialog]). Django has a nice start '^(An?|The) +' but I want to ignore those and a few others of my choice. I am doing this in Django, using a MySQL db with utf8_bin collation. EDIT Well my fault for not mentioning this but the database I am accessing is pretty much ready only. It's created and maintained by Amarok and I can't alter it without a whole mess of issues. That being said the artist table has The Chemical Brothers listed as The Chemical Brothers so I think I am stuck here. It probably will be slow but that's not so much of a concern for me as it's a personal project.

  • Faking user interaction on CMS

    - by Leocer
I'm working with a CMS and need to import data to it using typical html forms. The data itself is in csv files with one page per row. Such is the CMS that importing directly to db isn't possible due to the complexity of the design. It's pretty important that i "fake" usual user interaction because the CMS does a lot of background work that's crucial for the import. Basically, for each row in the csv file, I need to copy a csv column to a html textfield, or select a checkbox, or click a certain button. One major issue is mapping the data in the csv to actions in the CMS. So if one column contains the string 'foobar' is really means "set the firstName dropdown widget to 'foobar'". Is there a tool to automate this? I´ve been looking at AutoHotKey, Selendium, Web-Harvester and many other tools but I'm not convinced they are the correct tools. The main problem is being able to interact with the html pages in a easy way.

  • jquery iterating through newly created elements

    - by jaeyun
Hi All, I am trying to add new rows in my table, and save them into DB. First, I use .append() to append rows on the table: $("#tablename").append("<tr id='newRow'><td>newly added row</td></tr>"); The appending function works fine. My page displays the correct result. However, I am unable to select them with $("#newRow").each(function () { alert "it never reaches here!"; }); I am guessing it is because the elements are added after the DOM is loaded. Can anyone please tell me how I can iterate through all my newly added elements? Thank you.

  • Oracle transaction read-consistency ?

    - by trojanwarrior3000
I have problem understanding read consistency in db(oracle). Suppose I am manger of a bank . A customer has got lock (which I dont know) and is doing some updation. Now after he has got lock I am viewing account info of the same customer and try to do some thing on it.But because of read consistency I will see data as it existed before customer got the lock. So will not that affect inputs I am getting and the decisions that I am gonna make during that period?

  • Rails "Missing these required gems" error for installed gems

    - by Shpigford
I know this has been asked multiple times before, but I've tried those things and still am not having any luck. For the mechanize gem, I keep getting the "Missing these required gems" error when I run db:migrate on my production server. Here's the full error: Missing these required gems: mechanize You're running: ruby 1.8.6.111 at /usr/bin/ruby1.8 rubygems 1.3.5 at /home/user/.gem/ruby/1.8, /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8 Output of which ruby is /usr/bin/ruby Output of which gem is /usr/bin/gem When I run gem list mechanize (1.0.0) is definitely in the list. What am I doing wrong here?

  • LINQ to SQL - Grouping categories by parentId

    - by creativeincode
I am trying to construct a navigation menu using a Categories table from my db. I have a similar layout as below in Categories table. public List<Category> CategoryData = new List(new Category[] { new Category{ CategoryId = 1, Name = "Fruit", ParentCategoryId = null}, new Category{ CategoryId = 2, Name = "Vegetables", ParentCategoryId = null}, new Category{ CategoryId = 3, Name = "Apples", ParentCategoryId = 1}, new Category{ CategoryId = 4, Name = "Bananas", ParentCategoryId = 1}, new Category{ CategoryId = 5, Name = "Cucumber", ParentCategoryId = 2}, new Category{ CategoryId = 6, Name = "Onions", ParentCategoryId = 2} ); } The above should return something like Fruit (parent) "===Apples, Bananas (child) Vegetables (parent) "===Cucumber, Onions (child) I need to be able to pass this as some kind of 'grouped' (grouped by parentid) collection to my View. How to do this?

  • Can Windows Mobile Synch Services use a business layer

    - by Andy Kakembo
We're building a Win Mobile 6 warehouse app which needs to update our server based corporate DB. We've got a C# business layer that sits on our app server and we'd really like our warehouse app to go through this. We also like MS Synch Services. Is there a way to combine the two ie can we use sync services but get them to go through our business layer ? Has anyone done this and got an example I can follow ? Is there a best practice for this kind of scenario ? Thanks, Andy

  • How to deal with 'bad' decision forced on you regarding basic software for your product

    - by raticulin
Here is my situation, our product used to support several of the major databases. Now management has decided to move all products to MaxDB (aka SapDB previously), and even if we keep supporting some of the previous dbs, all new installations are on MaxDB. I am sure MaxDB is a great db and can support huge SAP installations. But from the point of view of a software developper, its a nightmare. Every time you need to do something not trivial (write an stored procedure, some fancy trigger...) and you google for some info, you get like 0.1% of the hits you would with things like MySql, PostgreSql or MSSql. Mailing lists are nearly non existant. SAP does support it commercially but it is not clear wether we'll buy support. And the decision cannot be rolled back. The product works with MaxDB, but with lots of inefficiency on development and a lot of frustration, is there something one could do?

  • Export products and variants from SQL Server

    - by mickyjtwin
I have a SQL Server DB that has a table of products, and another table which contains a list of the sku variants of each product if it has one. I want to export all the products and their SKU's into excel. At the moment, I have a helper SQL function which performs the subquery against a product_id and concatenates all the SKU's into a comma-delimited string, e.g: Product Code, Name, SKUs 111 P1 77, 22, 11 Is there an easier way to do this, so that each SKU is a row which the associated product code as well, i.e: Product Code, Name, SKUs 111 P1 77 111 P1 22 111 P1 11

  • Instrumenting Database Access

    - by Whisk
Jeff mentioned in one of the podcasts that one of the things he always does is put in instrumentation for database calls, so that he can tell what queries are causing slowness etc. This is something I've measured in the past using SQL Profiler, but I'm interested in what strategies other people have used to include this as part of the application. Is it simply a case of including a timer across each database call and logging the result, or is there a 'neater' way of doing it? Maybe there's a framework that does this for you already, or is there a flag I could enable in e.g. Linq-to-SQL that would provide similar functionality. I mainly use c# but would also be interested in seeing methods from different languages, and I'd be more interested in a 'code' way of doing this over a db platform method like SQL Profiler.

  • Speed up multiple JDBC SQL querys?

    - by paddydub
    I'm working on a shortest path a* algorithm in java with a mysql db. I'm executing the following SQL Query approx 300 times in the program to find route connections from a database of 10,000 bus connections. It takes approx 6-7 seconds to execute the query 300 times. Any suggestions on how I can speed this up or any ideas on a different method i can use ? Thanks ResultSet rs = stmt.executeQuery("select * from connections" + " where Connections.From_Station_stopID ="+StopID+";"); while (rs.next()) { int id = rs.getInt("To_Station_id"); String routeID = rs.getString("To_Station_routeID"); Double lat = rs.getDouble("To_Station_lat"); Double lng = rs.getDouble("To_Station_lng"); int time = rs.getInt("Time"); }

  • Asp.net Date Binding Issue with Nulls

    - by Matthew Kruskamp
I have a nullable date in my database. I am connecting to it with a LinqDataSource, and binding with a FormView. It allows you to place dates fine, but if you remove the date I need it to insert the null value to the db. It is instead throwing an exception. <asp:TextBox ID="TxtStartDate" runat="server" Text='<%# Bind("StartDate", "{0:MM/dd/yyyy}") %>' /> Works fine if you place a date in it, but if you delete the date out of it and save, you get System.Data.SqlTypes.SqlTypeException: SqlDateTime overflow. Must be between 1/1/1753 12:00:00 AM and 12/31/9999 11:59:59 PM. How do I make it send null?

  • Replacing substring in a string

    - by user177785
I am uploading a image file to the server. Now after uploading the file to the server I need to rename the file with an id, but the extension of the file should be retained. Eg: if I upload the file image1.png then my server script should retain the extension .png. But I need to change the substring to some other substring (primary key of db). image1.png should be renamed to 123.png image2.jpg should be renamed to somevalue.jpg The image can be of any extension like .png, .jpg, .jpeg etc. I want to rename then in such a way that the image/file extension should be retained.

  • phing nested if conditions

    - by Matt1776
Hello - I am having trouble understanding the Phing documentation regarding multiple conditions for a given tag. It implies you cannot have multiple conditions unless you use the tag, but there are no examples of how to use it. Consequently I nested two tags, however I feel silly doing this when I know there is a better way. Does anyone know how I can use the tag to accomplish the following: <if><equals arg1="${deployment.host.type}" arg2="unrestricted" /><then> <if><equals arg1="${db.adapter}" arg2="PDO_MYSQL"/><then> <!-- Code Here --> </then></if> </then></if>

  • Multiple Servers with identical services

    - by Jerry Bailey
I have a dozen servers in different locations all running the same web service application but each going against their own SQL Server DB. I am writing a desktop application that consumes the web services. I want to present the user with a drop down of all servers in the network that are running the same wweb service application. Do I have to add a ServiceReference for each of the servers running the web service app and thereby having as many proxies as there are servers? Or can a define a single instance of the services and dynamically build a list of endpoints to select from a drop down?

  • Dreamweaver utf-8 encoded php page displays wrong chinese character in IE and Chrome, correct in FF

    - by user1334485
I have an issue with character encoding: I have this page: http://www.studiomille.jp/class/ (its in japanese but the character in question is from chinese i think) FF shows it correctly, IE (all versions) and Chrome doesn't (sorry larger screenshots): FF Screenshot: IE Screenshot: (there are other character that are different throughout the site, this is just one example) Everything is set to UTF-8: * PHP sends header: Content-Type:text/html; charset=UTF-8 * PHP starts with: mb_language('uni'); mb_internal_encoding('UTF-8'); * meta tag: <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"/> * all files are saved with UTF-8 encoding with DreamWeaver CS3 * the same font is used in all the browsers. On that page nothing comes from the db, everything is hard coded. The site has the same behavior on my localhost too. So why only FF gets it right and how can I make it work on IE also?

  • Login fails after upgrade to ASP.net 4.0 from 3.5

    - by lomac
I cannot log in using any of the membership accounts using .net 4.0 version of the app. It fails like it's the wrong password, and FailedPasswordAttemptCount is incremented in my_aspnet_membership table. (I am using membership with mysql membership provider.) I can create new users. They appear in the database. But I cannot log in using the new user credentials (yes, IsApproved is 1). One clue is that the hashed passwords in the database is longer for the users created using the asp.net 4.0 version, e.g 3lwRden4e4Cm+cWVY/spa8oC3XGiKyQ2UWs5fxQ5l7g=, and the old .net 3.5 ones are all like +JQf1EcttK+3fZiFpbBANKVa92c=. I can still log in when connecting to the same db with the .net 3.5 version, but only to the old accounts, not the new ones created with the .net 4.0 version. The 4.0 version cannot log in to any accounts. I tried dropping the whole database on my test system, the membership tables are then auto created on first run, but it's still the same, can create users, but can't log in.

  • How to access Grails domain classes in Java service layer?

    - by batmannavneet
How can I use grails domain classes (which is in groovy) in service layer which is in Java/Spring. When using the grails MVC, everything is fine as I can use controller to access domain objects and call CRUD and other dynamic methods on them. But, what I am wondering is is there a clean way to do it from Java - say the service layer. For example, I may want to develop a reporting framework where I need to use domain objects to access the DB. I Hope the question is clear. This should be a standard problem that everybody must have faced in a reasonably sized project. I am just wondering how it is solved..maybe I am missing something here. thanks.

  • Reading data from database and binding them to custom ListView

    - by N.K.
I try to read data from a database i have made and to show some of the data in a row at a custom ListView. I can not understand what is my mistake. This is my code: public class EsodaMainActivity extends Activity { public static final String ROW_ID = "row_id"; //Intent extra key private ListView esodaListView; // the ListActivitys ListView private SimpleCursorAdapter esodaAdapter; // adapter for ListView DatabaseConnector databaseConnector = new DatabaseConnector(EsodaMainActivity.this); // called when the activity is first created @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.activity_esoda_main); esodaListView = (ListView)findViewById(R.id.esodaList); esodaListView.setOnItemClickListener(viewEsodaListener); databaseConnector.open(); //Cursor cursor= databaseConnector.query("esoda", new String[] // {"name", "amount"}, null, null, null); Cursor cursor=databaseConnector.getAllEsoda(); startManagingCursor(cursor); // map each esoda to a TextView in the ListView layout // The desired columns to be bound String[] from = new String[] {"name","amount"}; // built an String array named "from" //The XML defined views which the data will be bound to int[] to = new int[] { R.id.esodaTextView, R.id.amountTextView}; // built an int array named "to" // EsodaMainActivity.this = The context in which the ListView is running // R.layout.esoda_list_item = Id of the layout that is used to display each item in ListView // null = // from = String array containing the column names to display // to = Int array containing the column names to display esodaAdapter = new SimpleCursorAdapter (this, R.layout.esoda_list_item, cursor, from, to); esodaListView.setAdapter(esodaAdapter); // set esodaView's adapter } // end of onCreate method @Override protected void onResume() { super.onResume(); // call super's onResume method // create new GetEsodaTask and execute it // GetEsodaTask is an AsyncTask object new GetEsodaTask().execute((Object[]) null); } // end of onResume method // onStop method is executed when the Activity is no longer visible to the user @Override protected void onStop() { Cursor cursor= esodaAdapter.getCursor(); // gets current cursor from esodaAdapter if (cursor != null) cursor.deactivate(); // deactivate cursor esodaAdapter.changeCursor(null); // adapter now has no cursor (removes the cursor from the CursorAdapter) super.onStop(); } // end of onStop method // this class performs db query outside the GUI private class GetEsodaTask extends AsyncTask<Object, Object, Cursor> { // we create a new DatabaseConnector obj // EsodaMainActivity.this = Context DatabaseConnector databaseConnector = new DatabaseConnector(EsodaMainActivity.this); // perform the db access @Override protected Cursor doInBackground(Object... params) { databaseConnector.open(); // get a cursor containing call esoda return databaseConnector.getAllEsoda(); // the cursor returned by getAllContacts() is passed to method onPostExecute() } // end of doInBackground method // here we use the cursor returned from the doInBackground() method @Override protected void onPostExecute(Cursor result) { esodaAdapter.changeCursor(result); // set the adapter's Cursor databaseConnector.close(); } // end of onPostExecute() method } // end of GetEsodaTask class // creates the Activity's menu from a menu resource XML file @Override public boolean onCreateOptionsMenu(Menu menu) { super.onCreateOptionsMenu(menu); MenuInflater inflater = getMenuInflater(); inflater.inflate(R.menu.esoda_menu, menu); // inflates(eµf?s?) esodamainactivity_menu.xml to the Options menu return true; } // end of onCreateOptionsMenu() method //handles choice from options menu - is executed when the user touches a MenuItem @Override public boolean onOptionsItemSelected(MenuItem item) { // creates a new Intent to launch the AddEditEsoda Activity // EsodaMainActivity.this = Context from which the Activity will be launched // AddEditEsoda.class = target Activity Intent addNewEsoda = new Intent(EsodaMainActivity.this, AddEditEsoda.class); startActivity(addNewEsoda); return super.onOptionsItemSelected(item); } // end of method onPtionsItemSelected() // event listener that responds to the user touching a esoda's name in the ListView OnItemClickListener viewEsodaListener = new OnItemClickListener() { @Override public void onItemClick(AdapterView<?> arg0, View arg1, int arg2, long arg3) { // create an intent to launch the ViewEsoda Activity Intent viewEsoda = new Intent(EsodaMainActivity.this, ViewEsoda.class); // pass the selected esoda's row ID as an extra with the Intent viewEsoda.putExtra(ROW_ID, arg3); startActivity(viewEsoda); // start viewEsoda.class Activity } // end of onItemClick() method }; // end of viewEsodaListener } // end of EsodaMainActivity class The statement: Cursor cursor=databaseConnector.getAllEsoda(); queries all data (columns) From the data I want to show at my custom ListView 2 of them: "name" and "amount". • data parsed to database Nokogiri rails

    - by Charlie Allombert
So I'm just getting started with Nokogiri and Rails I have the following which returns the name of someone. TEST.rb: require 'nokogiri' require 'open-uri' url = "http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1439629/" doc = Nokogiri::HTML(open(url)) puts doc.css("div#wrapper [...too long...]")[0].text Now I created a table in my DB on rails and want to send the returned name to the actor table in the name column! How would I do that ? I can't seem to find atutorial on this... My goal would eventually be to have a rails form where I'd input an IMDB link which would return title and so on... (Also I'm new to ruby rails and programming so please provide easy info!)

  • How do I do a join in ActiveRecord after records have been returned?

    - by Russ Bradberry
I am using ActiveRecord in Rails 3 to pull data from two different tables in two different databases. These databases can not join on each other, but I have the need to do a simple join after-the-fact. I would like to preserve the relation so that I can chain it down the line. here is a simplified version of what I am doing browsers = Browser.all # <-- this is fairly small and can reside in memory events = Event.where(:row_date=>Date.today).select(:name, :browser_id) So as you can see, I want to join browsers in on the events relation, where browser_id should equal browsers.name. events is a relation and I can still add clauses to it down the line, so I dont want to run the query on the db just yet. How would I accomplish this?

  • LINQ to Entity, joining on NOT IN tables

    - by SlackerCoder
My brain seems to be mush right now! I am using LINQ to Entity, and I need to get some data from one table that does NOT exist in another table. For example: I need the groupID, groupname and groupnumber from TABLE A where they do not exist in TABLE B. The groupID will exist in TABLE B, along with other relevant information. The tables do not have any relationship. In SQL it would be quite simply (there is a more elegant and efficient solution, but I want to paint a picture of what I need) SELECT GroupID, GroupName, GroupNumber, FROM TableA WHERE GroupID NOT IN (SELECT GroupID FROM TableB) Is there an easy/elegant way to do this? Right now I have a bunch of queries hitting the db, then comparing, etc. It's pretty messy. Thanks.
