• Is it possible to use DLR in a .NET 3.5 website project?

  I'm trying to evaluate an expression stored in a database i.e. "if (Q1 ==2) {result = 3.1;} elseif (Q1 ==3){result=4.1;} else result = 5.9;" Rather than parsing it myself I'm trying to use the DLR. I'm using version .92 from the Codeplex repository and my solution is a .NET 3.5 website; and I'm having conflicts between the System.Core and Microsoft.Scripting.ExtenstionAttribute .dll's. Error = { Description: "'ExtensionAttribute' is ambiguous in the namespace 'System.Runtime.CompilerServices'.", File: "InternalXmlHelper.vb" } At this time I cannot upgrade to .NET 4.0 and make significant use of the .net 3.5 features (so downgrading is not an option).   Hello - I am working on in installer project that needs to gather some info and act on it during the install (mainly online key retreival and registration). The Setup Project UserInterface templates seem inflexible and poorly documented so I am looking at opening a WinForm as a Custom Action. I know this is possible because I see reference to it in many places but this is my first Windows Installer experience and so far it is mired in googled contradictions, partial or outdated information and guesswork... erg.... • DirectX 9 HLSL vs. DirectX 10 HLSL: syntax the same?

  For the past month or so, I have been busting my behind trying to learn DirectX. So I've been mixing back back and forth between DirectX 9 and 10. One of the major changes I've seen in the two is how to process vectors in the graphics card. One of the drastic changes I notice is how you get the GPU to recognize your structs. In DirectX 9, you define the Flexible Vertex Formats. Your typical set up would be like this: #define CUSTOMFVF (D3DFVF_XYZRHW | D3DFVF_DIFFUSE) In DirectX 10, I believe the equivalent is the input vertex description: D3D10_INPUT_ELEMENT_DESC layout[] = { {"POSITION",0,DXGI_FORMAT_R32G32B32_FLOAT, 0 , 0, D3D10_INPUT_PER_VERTEX_DATA, 0}, {"COLOR",0,DXGI_FORMAT_R32G32B32A32_FLOAT, 0 , 12, D3D10_INPUT_PER_VERTEX_DATA, 0} }; I notice in DirectX 10 that it is more descriptive. • How to perform different operations within Observer's update() in Java?

  I just started playing with Observable, Observer and it's update() method and I can't understand what should I do when different actions call notifyObservers(). I mean, my Observable class has a few different methods that call setChanged() and notifyObservers() in the end. Depending on the called method, some part of the UI (Swing) needs to be updated. However, there is only one update() method implemented in the Observer class. I though of passing something to the notifyObservers() method and then I can check the argument on update() but it doesn't seem feel like a good way to do it. Even if it did, what should I pass? A string with a short description of the action/method? And int, like an action/method code? Something else? What's the best way to handle this situation?

I would like to use the form to pass all the values as hidden with an inital values of username defaulting to the logged in user so that it becomes a subscribe form. Everything works fine. • Grabbing values from Expression.Blend.SampleData

  I am trying to figure out how to grab a value from Expression.Blend.SampleData. If my id is equal to a drop down for example, I can grab it by doing this: ((Expression.Blend.SampleData.MyDatabase.something)(MyDropDown.SelectedItem)).description; I need some way to place my own value where (MyDropDown.SelectedItem) is. Visual studio wants me to convert it a "Expression.Blend.SampleData.MyDatabase.something" format. I have tried a few ways to do this but I have been unsuccessful. Any Ideas? EDIT I am starting to think there is no way in Silverlight to do this

• Using a "vo" for joined data?

  I'm building a small financial system. Because of double-entry accounting, transactions always come in batches of two or more, so I've got a batch table and a transaction table. (The transaction table has batch_id, account_id, and amount fields, and shared data like date and description are relegated to the batch table). I've been using basic vo-type models for each table so far. Because of this table structure structure, though, transactions will almost always be selected with a join on the batch table. So should I take the selected records and splice them into two separate vo objects, or should I create a "shared" vo that contains both batch and transaction data? There are a few cases in which batch records and/or transaction records. Are there possible pitfalls down the road if I have "overlapping" vo classes?

  can someone show a description of the information of what a pgp looks like if only the descriptions were there but not the actual information? something like (i dont remember if the values are correct): packet-type[4 bits], total length in bytes[16 bits], packet version type [4 bits], creation-time[32 bits], encryption-algorithm[8 bits], ...,etc,etc ive tried to understand rfc4880, but its tedious and confusing. so far, i am think i have extracted the 4 i wrote above, but i cant seem to get the rest of the information out. can anyone help? i know i can just find some pgp program, but the whole point of this is to allow me to learn how those programs work in the first place

The Question Where can I find a good resource on Textarea Selection in JavaScript, preferably with a description of both pre-DOM3 and post-DOM30 scenarios? • magic records being deleted

  i have customised oscommerce to pull in a csv file of products, delete anything thats not with an image/proper description/proper title gets removed. The import runs on a cron job basis pulling information from a supplier, it hasnt run since yesterday but a product has disappeared- Anyone who has used oscommerce will know that, product information is stored over multiple tables. example is- products product_description and so on. the thing that has got me that the information is deleted from the product table but not from the product_description table. The product that is being deleted is a manually input one which carries a special tag/prefix on the model item of the product table. Therefore shouldn't be touched at all. Am clueles as what is going on. Is there mysql integrity checks deleting records? could there be another plugin working on oscommerce?

  Hi all, I want to create a mark sheet recognizer. Here is the description: My system uses black and white color scheme. The mark sheet paper has a small black rectangle on each corner and an additional small black rectangle, to determine orientation, near one of the previous rectangles. The paper is scanned to yield an image (in bmp format for example). The first step is to locate these five references in image as eficient as possible. My rough idea is to trace row by row and from left to right for each row. It sounds very slow I think. Is there any better way to do that? Thank you in advance. regards, Suugaku

• PHP object parent/child recursion

  I've got a parent-child OO relationship. Parent obejcts has many child objects and every child object knows about it's parent by reference. The parent can be a child too (basically its a tree). When i do a var_dump() on the root object it says ["parent"]=RECURSION many times and the generated description will be really long. I'm wondering if i do something wrong. If yes, i'm interested in the "best practice". Thanks for the help!

  sql2005 This is my simplified example: (in reality there are 40+ tables in here, I only showed 2) I got a table called tb_modules, with 3 columns (id, description, tablename as varchar): 1, UserType, tb_usertype 2, Religion, tb_religion (Last column is actually the name of a different table) I got an other table that looks like this: tb_value (columns:id, tb_modules_ID, usertype_OR_religion_ID) values: 1111, 1, 45 1112, 1, 55 1113, 2, 123 1114, 2, 234 so, I mean 45, 55, 123, 234 are usertype OR religion ID's (45, 55 usertype, 123, 234 religion ID`s) Don't judge, I didn't design the database Question How can I make a select, showing * from tb_value, plus one column That one column would be TITLE from the tb_usertype or RELIGIONNAME from the tb_religion table I would like to make a general thing. Was thinking initially about maybe a SQL function that returns a string, but I think I would need dynamic SQL, which is not ok in a function. Anyone a better idea ?
