NSString sizeWithFont: returning inconsistent results? known bug?

I'm trying to create a simple custom UIView wich contain a string drawn with a single font, but where the first character is slightly larger. I thought this would be easily implemented with two UILabel:s placed next to eachother. I use NSString sizeWithFont to measure my string to be able to lay it out correctly. But I noticed that the font baseline in the returned rectangle varies with +/- 1 pixel depending on the font size I set. But if I instead use 13.0 and 15.0, then the first character is 1 pixel too high. Is this a known problem? Any suggestions how to work around it? Creating a UIWebView with a CSS and HTML page seems way overkill for this. and more work to handle dynamic strings. Is that what I'm expected to do?

Need help using libpng to read an image

ubuntu: sem_timedwait not waking (C)

I have 3 processes which need to be synchronized. Process one does something then wakes process two and sleeps, which does something then wakes process three and sleeps, which does something and wakes process one and sleeps. The whole loop is timed to run around 25hz (caused by an external sync into process one before it triggers process two in my "real" application). I use sem_post to trigger (wake) each process, and sem_timedwait() to wait for the trigger. This all works successfully for several hours. However at some random time (usually after somewhere between two and four hours), one of the processes starts timing out in sem_timedwait(), even though I am sure the semaphore is being triggered with sem_post(). To prove this I even use sem_getvalue() immediately after the timeout, and the value is 1, so the timedwait should have been triggered. The value of sem1 is always 1 before thread1 waits as it sleeps for 40ms, by which time sem3 has triggered it, so it wakes straight away. The other two threads wait until the semaphore is received from the previous thread. [...] sem1 wait sync sem1. val before 1 sem1 wakeup. sem1 send sync sem2. val before 0 sem2 wakeup. sem2 send sync sem3. val before 0 sem2 wait sync sem2. val before 0 sem3 wakeup. sem3 send sync sem1. val before 0 sem3 wait sync sem3. val before 0 sem1 wait sync sem1. val before 1 sem1 wakeup. sem1 send sync sem2. val before 0 [...] However, after a few hours, one of the threads begins to timeout. I can see from the output that the semaphore is being triggered, and when I print the value after the timeout is is 1. So sem_timedwait should have woken up well before the timeout. I would never expect the value of the semaphore to be 1 after the timeout, save for the very rare occasion (almost certainly never but it's possible) when the trigger happens after the timeout but before I call sem_getvalue. Also, once it begins to fail, every sem_timedwait() on that semaphore also fails in the same way. [...] On line 1, thread 3 (which I have confusingly called sem1 in the printf) waits for sem3 to be triggered. On line 5, sem2 calls sem_post for sem3. However, line 8 shows sem3 timing out, but the value of the semaphore is 1. thread3 then triggers sem1 and waits again (10). However, because the value is already 1, it wakes straight away. It doesn't send sem1 again as this has all happened before control is given to thread1, however it then waits again (val is now 0) and sem1 wakes up. This now repeats for ever, sem3 always timing out and showing that the value is 1. So, my question is why does sem3 timeout, even though the semaphore has been triggered and the value is clearly 1? I would never expect to see line 08 in the output. If it times out (because, say thread 2 has crashed or is taking too long), the value should be 0. And why does it work fine for 3 or 4 hours first before getting into this state? This is using Ubuntu 9.4 with kernel 2.6.28. The same procedure has been working properly on Redhat and Fedora. Optional route parameters in ASP.NET 4 RTM no longer work as before

I upgraded my project to ASP.NET 4 RTM with ASP.NET MVC 2.0 RTM today. I was previously using ASP.NET 3.5 with ASP.NET MVC 2.0 RTM. Some of my routes don't work suddenly and I don't know why. I'm not sure if something changed between 3.5 and 4.0 - or if this was a regression type issue in the 4.0 RTM. (I never previously tested my app with 4.0). I like to use Url.RouteUrl("route-name", routeParams) to avoid ambiguity when generating URLs. Here's my route definition for a gallery page. But now it's looking like I need to specify all the parameters up until title - or it gives up in determining the URL. Incoming URLs work fine for /gallery/cats and that is correctly mapped through this rule with imageID and title both being assigned null in my controller. I also tested the INCOMING routes with http://haacked.com/archive/2008/03/13/url-routing-debugger.aspx and they all work fine.

Javascript not able to read data generated by ajax script

I have a situation in which my Jquery Ajax script generates HTML table. And another script is meant to filter the table column by providing a dropdown comprising of unique values in that particular column. If i have static content in html page the filter script works fine. But is not able to read table content when it is generated via Ajax that is during runtime. Any idea what could be the reason. I also tried to align script in order. WCF, IIS6.0 (413) Request Entity Too Large.

Hello, guys. I've got annoyed problem. I've got WCF service(basicHttpBinding with Transport security Https). This service implements contract which consists 2 methods. LoadData. GetData. GetData works OK!. My client received pachage ~2Mb size without problems. All work correctly. But when I try load data by bool LoadData(Stream data); - signature of method I'll get (413) Request Entity Too Large. Stack Trace: Server stack trace: ? Retrieving saved checkboxes' name and values from database

I have a form with checkboxes, each one has a value. When the registered user select any checkbox the value is incremented (the summation) and then then registred user save his selection of checkbox if he satisfied with the result of summation into database all this work fine ...i want to enable the registred user to view his selection history by retriving and displaying the checkboxes he selected in a page with thier values ... How I can do that? I'm just able to save the selected checkboxes as choice 1, choice 2, for example .. TranslateTransform for drag and drop in Silverlight

We're trying to implement drag and drop in Silverlight (3). We want users to be able to drag elements from a treeview onto another part of a UI. The parent element is a Grid, and we've been trying to use a TranslateTransform along with the MouseLeftButtonDown, MouseMove (etc) events, as recommended by various online examples. For example: http://www.85turns.com/2008/08/13/drag-and-drop-silverlight-example/ We're doing this in IronPython, but that should be more or less irrelevant. The drag start is correctly initiated, but the item we are dragging appears in the 'wrong' location (offset a few hundred pixels to the right and down from the cursor) and I can't for the life of me work out why. Setting up a pc bluetooth server for android

I am writing a PC side server for my andriod device, this is for exchanging some information and general debugging. Eventually I will be connecting to a SPP device to control a microcontroller. I have managed, using the following (Android to pc) to connect to rfcomm channel 11 and exchange data between my android device and my pc. Okay, the past few days I have been trying to get some input on my programs. Well I decided to scrap them for the most part and try again. So once again, I'm in need of help. For the first program I'm trying to fix, it needs to show the sum of SEVEN numbers. Well, I'm trying to change is so that I don't need the mem[##] = ####. I just want the user to be able to input the numbers and the program run from there and go through my switch loop. And have some kind of display..saying like the sum is?.. Any ideas? thanks in advance UPDATE: I tried adding these two statements to grab the request String itemdescription = URLDecoder.decode(request.getParameter("itemdescription"), "UTF-8"); String itemshortdescription = URLDecoder.decode(request.getParameter("itemshortdescription"), "UTF-8"); System.out.println("processRequest | short descrip "); and this is failing as well if that helps. UPDATE2: I created an html form and did a direct insert with the encoded itemdescription such as and the insertion works correctly with the special charaters and everything. I guess there is something going on with my javascript submit. Any ideas on this?

MVC2 Areas not Registering Correctly

I believe I have my Areas setup correctly (they were working in MVC1 fine). I followed the guide here: http://odetocode.com/Blogs/scott/archive/2009/10/13/asp-net-mvc2-preview-2-areas-and-routes.aspx I've also used Haacked's Route Debugger. Which shows the correct Area/Controller registration when I run it. However when I try to go to my (AreaName)/(Controller) I get this error: "The resource cannot be found." I believe this indicates there's a problem with the routing, but I'm having trouble debugging this. Where should I set my breakpoints to catch routing errors in MVC2? I'm also using SparkViewEngine compiled against MVC2 references. Could this possibly be causing this error? I've set breakpoints on the controller in the area and it never fires off, I assumed the view engine doesn't kick in until after the controller has been initiated, but I could be wrong. The non-area landing page works fine, and I've stripped my project of all areas except one, to avoid any sort of naming conflicts. Any ideas where I can try to look next?

Why can I query with an int but not a string here? PHP MySQL Datatypes

I am working on an Asset Database problem. I receive $id from $_GET["id"]; I then query the database and display the results. This works if my id is an integer like "93650" but if it has other characters like "wci1001", it displays this MySQL error: Unknown column 'text' in 'where clause' All fields in tables are of type: VARCHAR(50) What would I need to do to be able to use this query to search by id that includes other characters? Accessing XML file using JavaScript And ASP.net |VB code

Am trying to read in data from an xml file but using javascript which is embedded into my asp.net|vb code. I am new to asp.net but coming from a programming background. so I declared the xml objects for the appropriate browsers, as well as the name of the local xml to read data from, I then start by appending the create the table tag and then append it to the div tag in hack5.aspx I declare the variable that will represent/ hold the xml returned data object. I then run a for loop , before creating a row tag and then appending it to the div tag in hack5.aspx I then create the a row tag and then appending it to the div tag in hack5.aspx | then create a TextNode which is passed to variable, then create a td and append to div . then lastly append the textnode to td this format is the same for creating another 13 td tags that are to hold the data. Very Unusual Margin Appears Always in Internet Explorer [CSS]

Only in Internet Explorer does this occur: I'm getting an additional margin (of 19 pixels) below a fieldset and I can't seem to see why, whatever I try! Try it for yourself, take a look at http://theshrop.com/d/call_us_or_call_in.php. To aid I've added a grid and some background colours. The fieldset should have a 1.125em bottom margin and it does in Safari, Firefox etc. It has an extra 19 pixels in Internet Explorer? Displaying emails in a JTable (Java Swing)

Hi I'm new to all this. I have been trying to display fetched emails in a JTable using the JavaMail add-on. However when I ask the program to set the value it never does. I have been working in NetBeans if that is any help? the fetchMail class finds all may on a server. The gui class is used to display all emails in a table as well as creating mail. I have a form on my website in which one is able to submit a cat. The form contains inputs such as "Name" and "Gender", but I am just trying to get the auto completion to work with the "Name" field. Turning PHP page calling Zend functions procedurally into Zend Framework MVC-help!

Hi guys, I posted much of this question, but if didn't include all the Zend stuff because I thought it'd be overkill, but now I'm thinking it's not easy to figure out an OO way of doing this without that code... So with that said, please forgive the verbose code. I'm learning how to use MVC and OO in general, and I have a website that is all in PHP but most of the pages are basic static pages. I have already converted them all to views in Zend Framework, and have the Controller and layout set. All is good there. The one remaining page I have is the main reason I did this...it in fact uses Zend library (for gData connection and pulling info from a Google Calendar and displaying it on the page. I don't know enough about this to know where to begin to refactor the code to fit in the Zend Framework MVC model. The code would need to enter the product_id into an array and check whether it is unique. If the product_id is unique to the array, then the product_id is echoed out unaltered, and parent is echoed out to the 'Parent/Child' column and then the product_id is repeated to the 'Parent SKU' column. However, if the array is checked and the product_id already exists in the array, then the product_id is echoed out to the 'SKU' column with a suffix i.e. _1. Then child is echoed to the 'Parent / Child' column and the original parent product_id echoed to the 'Parent SKU' column. HOWEVER - the same SKU cannot be repeated with the same suffix i.e. 12345_1, 12345_1 - so presumably there would be to be another array for the suffixed SKUs to be checked against. If anybody could help, it would be great. Why does iOS 5 fail to connect to a server running JDK 1.6, but not JDK 1.5

We have a Java Socket Server listening on an SSLSocket (port 443) and an iOS application that connects with it. When running on iOS 5.1, the application stopped working when we upgraded the Java version of the server from JDK 1.5 to 1.6 (or 1.7). The app connects just fine to JDK 5 and 6 when running on iOS 6. The iOS app is reporting an error: -9809 = errSSLCrypto. On the Java side, we get javax.net.ssl.SSLException: Received fatal alert: close_notify. On the Java server side, we have enabled all the available cipher suites. On the client side we have tested enabling several different suites, although we have yet to complete a test involving each one individually enabled. Right now, it is failing when we use TLS_DH_anon_WITH_AES_128_CBC_SHA although it has failed with others and we are starting to think it's not the suite. Here is the debug output.
