  I have a textbox in which user can enter time (eg- 01:00) and also a drop down box for entering AM/PM fields. (Since the AM/PM field is used, 12-hour time format is used.) The text box allows a max entry of 5 chars only (eg - 01:00). Pls let me know how I can set the 3rd char as a default -colon : , so that the user simply has to enter only the time. How to check if the time entered by the user is numeric or not?. Autocompletion feature : for eg, if user enters 1 then it would automatically be set to 01:00 Javascript Validations for 12-hour format. Eg: if user enters 13:00 then it should change to 01:00 How can I append the text box time values with the am/pm value selected in the drop down box?. Once the values are appended, automatically populate another text box (text box 2) with the result. Eg: 01:00 + pm should be set as 01:00p in the new text box (text box 2). Any help would be appreciated.

• jQuery Validation plugin: disable validation for specified submit buttons

  I have a form with multiple fields that I'm validating (some with methods added for custom validation) with Jörn Zaeffere's excellent jQuery Validation plugin. How do you circumvent validation with specified submit controls (in other words, fire validation with some submit inputs, but do not fire validation with others)? This would be similar to ValidationGroups with standard ASP.NET validator controls. My situation: It's with ASP.NET WebForms, but you can ignore that if you wish. However, I am using the validation more as a "recommendation": in other words, when the form is submitted, validation fires but instead of a "required" message displaying, a "recommendation" shows that says something along the line of "you missed the following fields.... do you wish to proceed anyways?" At that point in the error container there's another submit button now visible that can be pressed which would ignore the validation and submit anyways. How to circumvent the forms .validate() for this button control and still post? The Buy and Sell a House sample at http://jquery.bassistance.de/validate/demo/multipart/ allows for this in order to hit the previous links, but it does so through creating custom methods and adding it to the validator. I would prefer to not have to create custom methods duplicating functionality already in the validation plugin. • jQuery doesn't work in IE8?

  Hi, I am working on a site here: mfm.treethink.net All the jquery works fine in Firefox, Chrome and Safari but on IE8 it gives me errors and the banner at the top doesn't work (which uses the crossSlide jQuery plugin) and as well the image rollovers don't work with the colour change. IE8 is telling me that the errors are on lines 53, 134 and 149 in the source, all of those lines are where the jquery function is declared. $(document).ready(function(){ I am running jquery 1.4. Oddly enough, the other piece of jQuery I have on that page works, the artist browse/select menu on the right. But the banner and image rollovers don't.   i am trying to get date from my implementation of jquery date picker, add it to a string and display the resulting image in my div. Something however is just not working. Can anyone check out the code and have a look at it? • Dojo extending dojo.dnd.Source, move not happening. Ideas?

  Hey all, Ok... I have a simple dojo page with the bare essentials. Three UL's with some LI's in them. The idea si to allow drag-n-drop among them but if any UL goes empty due to the last item being dragged out, I will put up a message to the user to gie them some instructions. In order to do that, I wanted to extend the dojo.dnd.Source dijit and add some intelligence. It seemed easy enough. To keep things simple (I am loading Dojo from a CDN) I am simply declating my extension as opposed to doing full on module load. The problem is this - list1 will happily accept items from lists 2 & 3 who will move or copy as apprriate. However lists 2 & 3 refuce to accept items from list1. It is as if the DND operation is being cancelled, but the debugger does show the dojo.dnd.Source.prototype.onDndDrop.call happening, and the paramaters do look ok to me. Now, the documentation here is really weak, so the example I took some of this from may be way out of date (I am using 1.4). Can anyone fill me in on what might be the issue with my extension dijit? • Conflict between Jquery Validate and Asp.net MVC

  Hi I am using asp.net mvc 2.0 and jquery validate 1.7 (http://bassistance.de/jquery-plugins/jquery-plugin-validation/) What happens is this. A user can click on a link to edit a product. When a user clicks on which product they want to edit a jquery dialog box appears with a form of textboxes and dropdown lists. These html controls have information filled in them. Say if the user chooses to edit the Ipad product a dialog will appear and one of the form textboxes will have "Ipad" in it. Now this form gets rendered on the server side(the form is in a partial view). When loading the dialog box a ajax request is made to get that partial view and in the response part of the ajax call I do something like $('#EditDialog).html(ajaxresponse).dialog({...}); So I would have something like this rendered in my dialog box <form id="EditProduct"> Product Name: <input type="text" value="IPad" name="ProductName" /> </form> Now my jquery validate would be something like this. $("#EditProduct").validate( { errorContainer: "#Errorbox", errorLabelContainer: "#Errorbox ul", wrapper: "li", rules: { ProductName: "required" } }); So I know this works because I use the same validate for add product and if you try to leave ProductName blank it will show a validation error. Now it does not work with the edit one though and I think I know the reason why but not how to fix it. The value for the textbox is "IPad" this is how the Html.TextBoxFor() renders it. However if a user goes and changes the product name to "Iphone" or blank the value never changes. It is always "Ipad" in the html. So I think when the validate goes and looks it goes oh there is a value already in it. It is valid even though in reality it might be blank. When I post to the server through ajax it gets the right value and the server side validation stops it but my entire clientside validation is rendered useless because of this problem as it will never change the html.

  I'm looking for a way using jQuery to return an object of computed styles for the 1st matched element. I could then pass this object to another call of jQuery's css method. For example, with width, I can do the following to make the 2 divs have the same width: $('#div2').width($('#div1').width()); It would be nice if I could make a text input look like an existing span: $('#input1').css($('#span1').css()); where .css() with no argument returns an object that can be passed to .css(obj). (I can't find a jQuery plugin for this, but it seems like it should exist. If it doesn't exist, I'll turn mine below into a plugin and post it with all the properties that I use.) Basically, I want to pseudo clone certain elements but use a different tag. For example, I have an li element that I want to hide and put an input element over it that looks the same. When the user types, it looks like they are editing the element inline. I'm also open to other approaches for this pseudo cloning problem for editing. Any suggestions? Here's what I currently have. The only problem is just getting all the possible styles. It works well and behaves exactly like the original css method with one exception: if 0 args are passed, it returns the computed style object. Otherwise, it gets the computed styles of all the listed properties (gathered from Firebug's computed style list). Although it's getting a long list of values, it's quite fast. • Jquery hasClass conditional not working

  Hey, I have my site going here: http://www.treethink.com I am trying to make it so when a navigation item is clicked, it retracts the news ticker on the right and then doesn't run any of the extracting/timer functions anymore. I got it to retract but it still extracts. How I am doing it is I am adding a "noTicker" class with the nav buttons and removing it with colorbox's close button. The function runs on the page initially and if there isn't a "noTicker" class it runs the news ticker as planned. When a nav or close button is clicked it runs the function again which checks again to see if it has that class. So if it has the class it should retract (which it is so that must mean it's adding the class properly) and then not run any of the timer functions, but it still runs the timer functions for some reason. I also tried calling the routine from the keyup() function of qs. $( '#qs' ).keyup( function() { $( this ).liveUpdate( '#members' ); }); This ends up going into infinite loops (almost) and halting with "Too much recursion" errors. So can anyone please shed some light on how I am supposed to actually implement this function?   Initial caveat: I am a newbie to jquery and javascript. I started using the autocomplete jquery plugin recently from bassistance.de. Yesterday, I found the fcbkListSelection plugin (http://www.emposha.com/javascript/fcbklistselection-like-facebook-friends-selector.html) and am using it to include a selector in my application. What I now want to do is to merge the 2 pieces of functionality since there are lots of items in my selector list. To be more specific, I want to put a "Filter by Name" text box above the facebook list selection object in my html. When the user types a few characters into the "Filter by Name" text box, I want the items in the Facebook list selector to only show the items that contain the typed characters -- kind of like what autocomplete does already, but rather than the results showing below the text input box, I want them to dynamically update the facebook list object. Is this possible and relatively straightforward? If so, can somebody please describe how to do it? If not, is there an easier way to approach this? Thanks! • GridView paging inside an UpdatePanel or PlaceHolder components

  Hello, I'm new to ASP.NET. Im developing ASP.NET C# web form which creating GridView components dynamically and filling them using the data received from my webservice. I'm creating these GridView components programmatically in server-side (cs file)- it has to be flexible - 1 GridView and sometimes 10 GridView components. The problem occurs when I'm trying to add pagination - whenever the user clicks the "next" page, the whole page is getting refreshed because of a postBack and I'm loosing all my data and the page returns Blank/Empty. I used PlaceHolder to hold the GridView components, while searching for a solution, I found UpdatePanel as a better alternative - as far as I understand the page can be partially refreshed - which means that only the UpdatePanel has to be refreshed...but it doesn't work. The following code sample is my TEST, the UpdatePanel is the only component initiated in the client side (aspx page), the rest initiated programmatically in CS. how can I solve the issue described above? Why does the whole page is getting refreshed and I'm loosing my data? can you recommend another way? can provide me with any code sample? If I'm not rebuilding the GridView, it doesn't work... I'm trying to bind the load event with something like this: content.bind('load',???); But I don't know how to pass the load params, targetUrl and the callback function hideLoading, when binding the load event.
