Most languages I know use static scoping (or have moved to static scoping, like Python), and probably because I know it better I tend to prefer it. So how can find out the element that has most neighbors in the sequence? (A simply way is sorting the sequence and then calculating number of each element but it's time complexity is quite large): O(nlogn) May you please help me find a better way to reduce time complexity?

Such a library would allow me to send/receive membership lists, merge received membership lists, etc...   Hi. Why is it better to store data inside an appSettings element (or inside a custom section) of a web.config file than to store it in a class? One argument would be that by using custom sections we don’t have to recompile code when we change data, but that’s a weak argument, especially if we’re using Web Sites, which get recompiled automatically whenever code changes!   Instead of returning a List<Long> of ids when calling PersonDao.getAll() we wanted not to have an entire collection of ids in memory. Seems like returning a org.springframework.jdbc.support.rowset.SqlRowSet and iterate over this rowset would not hold every object in memory. The only problem here is i cannot cast this row to my entity. Is there a better way for this?

  When considering social web app architecture, is it a better approach to document user social patterns in a database or in logs? I thought for sure that behavior, actions, events would be strictly database stored but I noticed that some of the larger social sites out there also track a lot by logging what happens. Is it good practice to store prominent data about users in a database and since thousands of user actions can be spawned easily, should they be simply logged?

While writing SQL for SqlCommand: Is it needed to quote field and table names with []? Is it good to prefix table names with [dbo] I use to use this syntax: SqlCommand command = new SqlCommand("SELECT [Field1], [Field2] FROM [dbo].[TableName]", connection); May be there is a better way?   This tool is supposed to configure users and roles etc., but when I use it on a new web site, with a new aspnetdb database, it adds a record to the aspnet_Applications table with the ApplicationName and the LoweredApplicationName fields set to /. I think it would make more sense if it actually used the application name, i.e. the web site name. Can I safely just change the application name? Is there a better way of configuring these things?
