  Hi all, Am a newbie to iphone programming. i have a input box and the user can write his DOB(mm/dd/yyyy) into the box. Before i save the data i like to test for valid input. I am using Regexlite.h and Regexlite.m.i have the regular expression too. i want to compare the regex to the user entered value in text box.But am not knowing how to do it.Please help. Any idea how to test for a valid date? (in .NET i use a simple regex but for the iPhone sdk i am a bit helpless) - but somebody must have been done this before... Thanks Viki

• Neither IE or Firefox respects the control values that are output

  I'm writing a survey designer asp.net mvc. It has buttons to move questions up and down. The buttons post the whole form back and the affected questions are swapped on the server. When the form returns the only thing that is changed are the values for each survey question. Both firefox and IE seem to ignore this change. Nothing is persisted to the database (until save) and url doesn't change so the post just returns the same view but I've stepped through my code to ensure the sequence of values being rendered in the view reflects the swap which is ok. However "view - source" doesn't show the change suggesting caching issue (maybe auto complete). I've tried autocomplete="off" in my form. Response.Cache.SetNoStore(); in my global.asax [System.Web.Mvc.OutputCache(NoStore = true, Duration = 0, VaryByParam = "*")] before my controller and the following in my page header NOTHING!!! This must be real common. Anyone got a clue?

• Replace newline from MySQL TEXT field to parse w/ JSON

  Hi, "replace newline" seems to be a question asked here and there like hundred times already. But however, i haven't found any working solution for myself yet. I have a textarea that i use to save data into DB. Then using AJAX I want to get data from the DB in the backend that is in TEXT field and to pass it to frontend using JSON. But pasing JSON returns an error, as new lines from DB are not valid JSON syntax, I guess i should use \n instead... But how do i replace newlinew from DB with \n? I've tried this $t = str_replace('<br />', '\n', nl2br($t)); and this $t = preg_replace("/\r\n|\n\r|\r|\n/", "\n", $t); and using CHAR(13) and CHAR(10), and still I get an error the new line in textarea is equivalent to, i guess $t = 'text with a newline'; it gives the same error. And in notepad i clearly see that it is crlf

  Hi, How to copy or duplicate gtk widgets? In my application I have one huge GtkComboBox created with one long for loop which eats up so much of time and I am using this combo at two places in one single screen. So, what I want to do is create this combo for one time and duplicate/copy it in another one so it will save my time. If I try to add same combo box pointer two times, gtk gives me error "child-paren != NULL" cause in gtk widget can have only single parent. So what to do? Thanks, PP.

  What's the best practice or well known methods to implement sequence numbers for business entities such as invoices, purchase orders, job numbers, etc? I want to be able to save the latest value in the database and be able to set it programatically. Is it OK to use a table for this purpose that has a SEQUENCE_NAME, SEQUENCE_NUMBER tuple? I know some databases have a first class sequence type but others (eg, MySQL) do not so it's not something I want to rely on. If a table is used to hold these sequences what is the right way to get and increment them in a synchronized fashion to ensure no data inconsistencies arise?

  Hi. The current ocx controls I'm using for voice recording and playback are not compatible with Windows 7. I'm already feeling the pressure to produce a Windows 7 compatible version of my software. The author has already stated that he is not planning to write a Windows 7 compatible ocx. I work from xharbour so I need to consume an OCX or write the whole thing (which I'd like to avoid and don't even know where to start).   I need to implement a background process that runs on a remote windows server 24/7. My development environment is C#/ASP.NET 3.5. The purpose of the process is to: Send reminder e-mails to employees and customers at appropriate times (say 5:00PM on the day before a job is scheduled) Query and save GPS coordinates of employees when they are supposed to be out on jobs so that I can later verify that their positions were where they were supposed to be. If the process fails (which it probably will, especially when updates are added), I need for it to be restarted immediately (or within just a few minutes) as I would have very serious problems if this process failed to send a notification, log a GPS coordinate, or any of the other tasks its meant to perform.

  0 vote down star I am using GridView in asp .net and editing data with edit command field property (as we know after updating the edited row, we automatically update the database), and I want to use transactions (with begin to commit statement - including rollback) to commit this update query in database, after clicking in some button (after some events for example), not automatically to insert or update the edited data from grid directly to the DB...so I want to save them somewhere temporary (even many edited rows - not just one row) and then to confirm the transaction - to update the real tables in database... Any suggestions are welcomed... • Does Eclipse has a plugin for code clips like in Coda?

  There is a very useful "Clips" feature in Coda, do we have such thing in Eclipse? What it does is pretty simple, you save once a code clip which you use very often and assign it a shortcut and when you want to re-use it on editor you type the shortcut you assigned and it automatically pastes that code clip and sets caret position to the defined position. On the example here (second image) when i write 4dom and press TAB afterwards it types me this... jQuery(function($){ //puts cursor here }); Since it is a very useful feature i miss that one on Eclipse, is there a plugin for this?   Hello, I have a question about the proper, best way to manage the model. I am relative newbie to django, so I think I need to read more docs, tutorials,etc (suggestions for this would be cool!). Anyway, this is my question : I have a python web crawler, that is "connected" with django model. Crawling is done once a day, so its really common to find "duplicates". To avoid duplicates I do this : cars = Car.Objects.filter(name=crawledItem['name']) if len(cars) 0: #object already exists, update it car = cars[0] else: car = Car() #some non-relevant code here car.save() I want to know, if this is the proper/correct way to do it or its any "automatic" way to do it. • Flex Inheriting Logged in User

  I am trying to secure my Flex application within my Java web application. Currently my Java web application, handles logging and managing user accounts and the like. I was wondering if there is a way to essentially share that user credentials with the Flash movie in a secure mechanism? For instance, if you log in, we want you to be able to save items in the Flex application for that user, only if that user is logged in of course. Any ideas? Any help is greatly appreciated.

• Bug in the official Android Fragments training sample?

  It seems to me that there must be a bug in the Android Fragments demo. As background, Fragments are apparently sometimes instantiated by the Android OS and thus need a public no-arg constructor: All subclasses of Fragment must include a public empty constructor. The framework will often re-instantiate a fragment class when needed, in particular during state restore, and needs to be able to find this constructor to instantiate it. If the empty constructor is not available, a runtime exception will occur in some cases during state restore. But the NewsReader demo from the official Android training on Fragments constructs the HeadlinesFragment class and configures it with setOnHeadlineSelectedListener(this) from NewsReaderActivity.onCreate(). If the Android OS re-instantiates this fragment, the mHeadlineSelectedListener field will be null because HeadlinesFragment doesn't save or restore its state. Is this a bug or am I missing something?

It's basically a little 'mathematics game'; the application generates two random numbers, that have either been added, subtracted, multiplied or divided against each other randomly. The answer is shown on screen and the user has to pick from the menu which is the right mathematical operator, once the correct answer is picked the application then displays on screen how long it took for the user in milliseconds to input the correct answer. Now I want to save the times of the players in an array that can be called up later with all the scores. I need to include a method in this programme and I figured a method to save the times into an array would be suitable. I seem to have stumbled across a little problem though.   I'm playing around with building a new web application using DB4O - piles of fun and some really interesting stuff learned. The one thing I'm struggling with is DB4O's current lack of support for stateless applications (i.e. web apps, mostly) and the need for automatically-generated IDs. There are a number of creative and interesting approaches that I've been able to find that hook into DB4O's events, use GUIDs rather than numeric IDs or for whatever reason avoid using any system of ID at all. While each approach has its merits, I'm wondering if the less-elegant approach might equally be the best fit. • Store JsTree order back into database

  Hi I am using JsTree and got some of it working with my database. Such as deleting a node, renaming a node, etc. I am having problems with saving the ROOT folders order back to the database. When I move the root folders, it doesnt save order. When I move the sub folders around, it saves order fine. Anyone know what I am doing wrong?   I work with code written by other people, occasionally I am left somewhat confused and at these times Stack Overflow saves me. Please, save me again. Our site allows people to upload images and later embed them within text in our site like so: <img src="http://site.com/image_script.php?p=some_image_identifier"/> My question is: If the identifier, "p", does not lead us to an image should the server return "500" or "404"? I would have thought it should be "404", but that's not what is happening right now.

In the example I change the value of $two and then save the whole array back into the file with the new value.   I will have one streaming-server (W2k8, unknown streaming protocol [rtsp, mss, http]) and half dozen streaming-servers as proxies to save bandwidth. I have read the documentation and installed the modules, but I am unsure how I have to configure the proxy's according to http://technet.microsoft.com/de-de/library/ee126142(en-us,WS.10).aspx - as a proxy or reverse proxy and how I minimize the bandwidth needs between origin server and proxy's. What is the best way to realize my setup? Any short how-tos? How can I announce all players to use the proxy? Route all rtsp/mms/http-requests through my proxy? Announce the proxy with DHCP-releases? • Linq to xml not able to add new elements

  We save our xml in a "text" field in the database. So first I check if it exist any xml, if not I create a new xdocument, fill it with the necessary xml. else i just add the new element. • Where to find iPhone system buttons and icons graphics?

  Hey guys, I'm trying to find a way to use the original Apple system buttons and icons in a web site. Is there a way to get these original graphics in png format? There are not-so-nice ways to obtain them of course. Two I was thinking of: Save them from this link, then convert to png. Take screen captures on the iPhone itself, and cut the icons from the saved images. Is anyone aware of a nicer way to obtain the original graphics? Does anyone know where they are stored on the Mac?
