  I am getting the following Error messages and do not know how to fix it. Event Type: Error Event Source: MSExchangeTransport Event Category: (8) Event ID: 3017 Date: 4/29/2010 Time: 1:21:12 PM User: N/A Computer: NETSRV Description: A non-delivery report with a status code of 5.3.5 was generated for recipient rfc822;[email protected] (Message-ID <19104335.51321272561635734.JavaMail.SYSTEM@PARROT). Causes: A looping condition was detected. (The server is configured to route mail back to itself). If you have multiple SMTP Virtual Servers configured on your Exchange server, make sure they are defined by a unique incoming port and that the outgoing SMTP port configuration is valid to avoid looping between local virtual servers. • How do I disable certain folders from appearing in my IMAP client when using Gmail?

  I'm using the newest version of Gmail, as far as I know, and there used to be the option in Settings - Labels that said "Show in IMAP" next to label/folder names. This option is no longer there, unfortunately. How do I hide specific labels/folders, e.g. All Mail, from Thunderbird, my IMAP client? In both Firefox 17.0 and Chromium 20.0.1132.47 on Ubuntu 12.04, without an extensions, these options do not appear, so it doesn't appear to be a browser issue. In the past, I had to enable "Advanced IMAP Controls" in Settings - Labs for the "Show in IMAP" controls to appear, but according to this post, those controls "graduated" and should appear under Settings- Labels. What can I do to show or hide specific folders in IMAP?

• autofs mac os x afp not loading as correct user?

  Hello, I am way out of my depth, and I am trying to get all of my nodes on a cluster to mount a drive on my head node. I've got /etc/auto_master and /etc/auto_afp configured according to Apple's "Autofs: Automatically Mounting Network File Shares in Mac OS X" White Paper: /etc/auto_master +auto_master # Use directory service /net -hosts -nobrowse,hidefromfinder,nosuid /home auto_home -nobrowse,hidefromfinder /Network/Servers -fstab /- -static /- auto_afp /etc/auto_afp /Volumes/userA -fstype=afp afp://userA:[email protected]:/ /Volumes/userB -fstype=afp afp://userB:[email protected]:/ I am logged into a compute-node as userA. automount appears to mount both /Volumes/userA and /Volumes/userB to head-node.local:/Users/userA/Documents/ even though I have usernames, passwords, and user-directory specified in the afp url. If I go and login with Finder - it mounts userB appropriately. File sharing and cd/dvd sharing is enabled on all computers involved. Am I doing the right thing, and if so, what did I do wrong? -Stephen

• Recommendation for email setup for programatically sending lots of emails

  To clarify I have an app that notifies users via email when certain actions take place (I am not spamming as the user has opted in to the notifications and can change that option at any time). Because of number of emails that needs to be sent, Gmail, Yahoo, etc will not work. Unless I am mistaken services like MailChimp, Lyris, etc will also not fit this need since every email is sent one at a time and is very specific to the user and action that took place. What I really want is something that would allow me to be able to call some mail function, give it a recipient, from, message and subject, and not have it be blocked by the email service. This can be a free or paid service. I have server access so I can install something if necessary as well but I don't know much about email services and fear if I do it myself, I'll get blocked by some other player like my VPS host or ISP or something.

  On occasion, a company receives eMail with two header fields (“Received” and “From”) containing data that contradict each other drastically. Should they not expect their anti-spam system to flag or block items with contradictions in these fields? For example, they received an eMail which contained [almost exactly] these two headers: Received: from [107.52.51.26] by web315204.mail.ne1.yahoo.com via HTTP; Mon,28 Oct 2013 04:28:04 PDT From: Barry Smith [email protected] Obviously, eMail from an @att.net address isn’t coming from a server on the domain yahoo.com, and Yahoo isn’t forwarding AT&T’s eMail. There were no other headers indicating that the item was sent “OnBehalfOf”, or “Forwarded-by”, or “By_Proxy” or any other such. Should I write a utility to scan incoming eMail for such conflicts, or look more closely at their spam filtering to block this kind of eMail? Their eMail system is Hosted Exchange on MS-365. My central question is, where specifically do I look in MS-365 to get this type of conflicted eMail blocked?

• Minimize the chance my email is blocked/filtered as spam

  I'm running a web-based store where order confirmations are sometimes blocked and don't reach the intended user. The structure of the business model is such that our product is marketed to the end-user by a 3rd parities - affiliates how are known entities to the end-users and email is freely exchanged between end-users and our affiliates. Our confirmations being blocked is becoming a big enough problem that we are considering implementing a system where a 'confirmations' address is created within the affiliates domain, then we'd have our app send via the affiliate's mail server instead of our own. But that'd be lots of work. The idea has been raised to have our app use our affiliates' email in the FROM field but still send from our server. My thinking is that would be detected at the end-users side and blocked just as often - we dealing with institutions large enough at least some checks up at the perimeter. Is this assumption correct (more likely to be blocked) or is there a less round about way to send messages under the auspices of 3rd parties? thx

• Microsoft Entourage/Exchange Server problem: all objects disappeared from server - still in some for

  One of our employees works with Entourage on his MacBook Pro (OSX 10.6) accessing Exchange Server 2007. Last Friday morning, I think while working over a VPN, Entourage (I think it was Entourage) deleted all his objects (mail, calendar, contacts) on the server and while creating a lot of strange folders (starting with underscores) on the client. The local data seems to be there, but not in a consistent form. Since the user's mailbox is rather big, I suspect, that there was some kind of "move" operation which did not complete. I tried to export the data, but the export stops because of a corrupted object. Is there a tool or another way to export or retrieve the local data? Edit - FYI: we solved the problem getting his data from the previous night's backup.

• How to automount SMB shared network drives in Mac OS X Lion

  In Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) Apple has replaced good old SMB support. Now I can't auto connect to my shared (SMB) network drives. Workarounds? Or Impossible? In OS X Snow Leopard, I could automatically connect my Ubuntu (SMB) shared network drives with auto_smb / auto_master (autofs configuration in /private/etc/). I made three mount points (folders) directly in '/Volumes', I used /Volumes/Data and /Volumes/webroot (both SMB shared). Unfortunately Lion doesn't connect (automount) my network drives. I have to manually connect to the server (Ubuntu file server) in Finder, then open up Terminal to navigate to the mount points, and then it connects. This is not a workable solution. I've searched (Google/SO) but found no solutions apart from an unsupported hack. Isn't it possible any more to automatically connect to an SMB-shared drive during startup?

  Hello- I have an Apple XServe G5, running OS X Server 10.4. I want to update my Apache installation from 1.3 to 2 and PHP to 5. I also want to install PHP GD support. I have scoured the internet for a guide on how to do this, but to no avail. I also tried to use Entropy to install PHP 5 several times, and it always manages to royally mess up my system. Obviously I can't install Leopard or Snow Leopard because it is a PowerPC processor. Can anyone give me any tips on how to get this software updated or point me to a guide? Thanks, Chris

• Mac Screenshot of a Specific Window without Using the Mouse/Click

  Hello, I've been researching for a day or two but can't find a method to take a screenshot of a specific window (possibly the only window) open at a specific time using an Apple script. Currently I have the script execute screencapture -T1 ~/Desktop/screenshot.png But what I want is really screencapture -wx -T1 ~/Desktop/screenshot.png But when I use -wx, it waits for a mouse click on the window. Are there any utilities, built in or not, that will allow me to do this? Thank you so much! (I'm sorry if this belongs on Stack Overflow, can someone move it if it does. • Thinking about buying a LG 30" monitor

  I'd love to get http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824005115 but I'm wondering if I should hold out until more LED monitors are on the market. I love really like the brightness of the 27" imac monitor and the above monitor is only rated at 5 cd/m2 less than that monitor, but wouldn't a back lit monitor appear to be much brighter than an LCD monitor? Does anyone know how the above monitor compares to the 27" imac monitor? Why are Apple monitors in general so much more expensive than other monitors - just the brand name? I must be confused about how to read the specs? Thanks in advance for your input!

• Cannot connect Office 365 email with Outlook 2010

  I have an email address of the form [email protected] that I am accessing through this site. I had connected my email to Outlook 2010 and it was working fine. Recently, it started requesting credentials every time I logged in, without connecting to the email server even after entering the correct password. I had already decided to reinstall Windows 7, so I thought that would also fix this problem. Unfortunately it did not. I tried the troubleshoot function embedded in the Office 365 capabilities, but it did not find anything wrong. I suspect that one possible source of this problem could be the fact that in the control panel it states Mail (32-bit) while Windows is 64-bit (office is 32 as well). In addition when trying to remove an email account from the list it remains there unaffected. Does anybody know what should I do in order to fix this problem?

• bad printer isolation on print server or better way?

  I have noticed that when a printer or driver screws up on a Windows server it usually locks up or kills the print spooler and everyone can't print until it is fixed. Usually we have to put the troublesome printer on another server so when it fails, it doesn't take the whole group with it. That is assuming we ever figure out which printer is the problem. Is there a way to have it so that one bad apple doesn't ruin the bunch? Even if it is another form of printer serving, that would work as long as it's not hard for the user to find a printer and install drivers.

• Upgrade AirPort on Macs to support Snow Leopard's Wake on Wireless/WLAN?

  Snow Leopard now supports Wake on WLAN, but not all hardware supports this. For example, my Octo Mac Pro from early 2008 has an AirPort card, but it does not support this. Nor does my 2007 2.33GHz MacBook Pro. For reference to what is needed, look at http://www.macrumors.com/2009/08/28/a-closer-look-at-snow-leopards-wake-on-demand-feature/ which includes a screenshot of what the System Profiler should show. It's pretty hard to find Apple parts, but is it possible to put newer cards into these machines to have them support Wake on Wireless?

  I have a reformatted Mac mini containing only a fresh install of Ubuntu 9.0.4. The Apple boot loader as been removed, so I can't hold down option, or the c key to get it to reboot form the install DVD. I do have an external drive (with both a usb and firewire interface available) with a bootable cloned OS X system on it. What steps do I need to go through to in order get grub to see the external drive, and to boot from it so that I can reformat the internal disk as an OS X drive?

• Try exchange in real domain

  We (as a company) 'd like to try exchange server to replace our mail server. I downloaded the demo version from Microsoft website, but during the installation it wants administrator access to domain to edit the Active Directory database structure. The test will last for (at least) a month to see if it will bring real advantages to our management systems. Here is my question: Is it "dangerous"? If I uninstall the exchange server everything will be reverted to previous state? I'm kind of "scared" about the changes he may apply to our domain controllers.

  Mozilla Thunderbird v.3.1.7 I am trying to setup Gmail, but none of the settings are working. I have tried every resource: Blogs, tutorials Instructions by Google Instructions by Thunderbird Questions here But, still its not working. ERROR: Connection to the server [email protected] timed out. I am behind a proxy server and I have configured those settings under: Thunderbird Preferences - Advanced - Network and Disk Space - Connection Settings - Manual Proxy Configuration The proxy configuration works, as when I created a Blogs and News feeds a/c, it was working properly and fetching the feeds for me. So, Thunderbird is configured properly as per the proxy settings. Help me.

• Sendmail : forwarding emails problem

  So here is my situation. I have this 2 DNS (say a.org and b.org) with the same IP address (both A record) tied to this box. We have Google mail handing our a.org emails . I want b.org emails to forward to users at a.org emails . My sendmail is getting confused and is delivering all b.org emails locally instead of forwarding them to a.org (which is specified in the .forward) . • Where does amavisd-new log on ubuntu, by default

  I have a misbehaving amavisd on a mail server. It starts and then silently stops. Init script outputs successful start whan invoked manually, however the next second I check the status and the service is off. Nothing is listening on it's ports. I googled. I checked out the configuration files, I checked out init.d script. It starts, then it stops. And I have no idea what's going on, since I can't find the log file (no it's not /var/log/amavis.log or anything logical like that).

  Hi all, I don't know if this is the correct place to answer this question, but here it goes. I have been googling for a cheap email to sip voicemail service. That is because I have got a Linksys/Cisco SPA-941 phone which has a led which will light up when a new message comes in inbox(somebody calls me). So what I want is the following. I want the e-mail(title only is enough) recorded(By computer voice) and sent to my phone which I can playback when the led lights up.   Can somebody help me in installing bugzilla (list out exact steps if possible) on Windows Server 2008 with IIS 7.0 , Mysql 5.1 & existing email server(already configured)? I followed installation steps from many posts & also your site , everything goes right but when I start to creating accounts by sending email in bugzilla web panel, I get error:- “There was an error sending mail from 'bugzilla-daemon@' to '[email protected]':Can't call method "address" on an undefined value at C:/Program Files (x86)/Bugzilla/perl/perl/site/lib/Email/Send/SMTP.pm line 25.” I also tried installing through Windows installer, but same issues. Please any help would be appreciated. Expecting quick response.
