How can I set Java 1.6 to be the default for my MacBook Pro Intel Core 2 Duo with OS X 10.5.8? I have installed the latest software update, and dragged the Java SE 6 64-bit choice to the top in the "Java Preferences" application (and even rebooted), but still, on the command line, java -version responds with:
java version "1.5.0_24"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_24-b02-357-9M3165)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_24-149, mixed mode, sharing)
Any ideas?
I'm using wx.AUI and having a bit of a problem managing panes. Once you have created a new pane using AddPane(), what is the syntax to update or change the pane?
I've seen the SetPane command but I can't find any examples. Can someone direct me to an example? Or perhaps it makes sense to use some command to delete the pane and create a new one?
Thanks in advance for your time.
I have pretty much zero experience setting up servers, but currently my job is to set one up (don't ask why). It's an an apache-tomcat6 server.
I followed some instructions step by step, and when it came time to test that everything was working, here's what I got:
I know this is a bit of a shot in the dark, but does anyone know what I can do to fix this?
Please let me know if there's any further information I can provide to help!
I recently built a site using Asp.Net.
The way I chose to implement user login is through a base 'UserAwareController' class, that all controllers extend. It contained a reference to the UserRepository, and exposed a protected GetCurrentUser() method that concrete controllers could query.
The whole process felt a bit wishy-washy to me. Is Action Filters a good alternative? What are its benefits? Is there something else I might be missing?
Can anyone comment on which is more scalable between RoR and PHP? I have heard that RoR is less scalable than PHP since RoR has a little more overhead with its MVC framework while PHP is more low level and lighter. This is a bit vague - can anyone explain better?
Hi
What language would I need to use to decompile an swf file automatically on my server, not like a desktop app.
A bit like http://www.showmycode.com/
And could anyone point me in the right direction to get started?
I am a new programmer, and I started in C and am now starting to enjoy JavaScript and a tiny bit of PHP more. Lately I've heard the terms 'private' and 'public' functions a lot. Could anybody give an explanation of the both and how they are of use to a programmer?
And I'm probably totally wrong here... but is a
(function(){})
in javascript a private function?
What open source (preferably gem-based) parser-generator options do I have in Ruby?
I've used (flex&bison)|(lex&yacc) from C in the past, and I'm comfortable with BNF-style specifications.
I've heard of treetop, but it looks a bit alien and verbose compared to yacc...
Purpose: I want to convert my text markup language to a BNF and generate the parsing code. I think it's a better strategy than my first-order solution: http://github.com/dafydd/semantictext/blob/master/lib/semantictext/rich_text_parser.rb
The authlogic rails gem is doing a LOWER in the sql query.
SELECT * FROM `users` WHERE (LOWER(`users`.email) = '[email protected]') LIMIT 1
I want to get rid of the LOWER part since it seems to be slowing down the query by quite a bit.
I'd prefer to just lower the case in the code since this query seems to be expensive.
I'm not sure where to change this behavior in authlogic.
Thanks!
Mac OS X Leopard has a virtual desktop implementation called Spaces. I want to programatically detect which space the user is currently on.
Cocoa is preferable but AppleScript is acceptable if there's no other way.
I've seen a couple of AppleScript implementations, but the techniques they used seemed a bit too hacky to use in production code (one relied on causing and error and then parsing the error message to get the current space, the other interrogated the Spaces menu GUI)
Hello
I'm looking to implement a system for tweeting directly from my site backend, which is written in PHP 5. I have a script from the internet that I can adapt, but I'm concerned that when Twitter switches to Oauth only, I'll be out in the cold.
Basically, I'm hoping someone can point me toward a script/tutorial that will let me do the following:
access twitter via the Oauth system
Post Tweets and receive error codes
Let me define an application/site name (I'm a bit fuzzy on whether Twitter allows this)
Ideally I need all 3 points explained in detail.
Thanks
I am trying to use Aspose.Words library through COM Interop. There is one critical problem: I cannot set color. It is supposed to work by assigning to DocumentBuilder.Font.Color, but when I try to do it I get OLE error 0x80131509. My problem is pretty much like this one: http://bit.ly/cuvWfc
How can we convert the following 64 bit binary into the long equivalent;
01111101 10100011 01001111 11111111 11111111 11111111 11111111 11000000
equals 7D A3 4F FF FF FF FF C0 HEX
equals 9053167636875050944 << this is the value we want in a C# variable
Is it possible to use CruiseControl.Net to set up a build farm? We currently have 4 different build machines building different things at different times and have a bit of a headache to manually balance the load somehow. I would prefer to designate one of them to be the master build machine, which would delegate work to the other ones when they are free.
If you scroll down this page a bit, you'd see UK English hyphenation patterns like:
\patterns{ % just type <return> if you're not using INITEX
.ab4i
.ab3ol
.ace4
.acet3
.ach4
.ac5tiva
What do these patterns like .ab4i mean?
I have an old Borland project which I would like to port to VS2008. Is there any way to dump, in a human readable format, the source file, compile options and dependency information from a .ide file? I'd like something a bit more comprehensive than the 'Generate Makefile' option.
The .NET framework makes it easy to get information about various locales; the Win32 C++ APIs are a bit harder to figure out.
Is there an equivalent function in Win32 to get the two-letter ISO language name given an integer locale ID?
In C# I'd do:
System.Globalization.CultureInfo ci = new System.Globalization.CultureInfo(1034);
string iso = ci.TwoLetterISOLanguageName;
// iso == "es" now.
I have a PHP MVC framework I've built from scratch which uses the traditional domain.com/controller/action URL routing. While I'm currently handling the below conversion in the router I'd like to replace them in the URL for cosmetic reasons.
For example:
controller/action?filter=bank
Becomes:
controller/action/filter/bank
I've done a bit of experimentation with a regex but can't seem to find a match. I'm also not sure how to rewrite it using RewriteCond.
Thanks in advance.
Anyone know any a few good references for getting familiar with the SQL Server 2008 Database projects? I am getting a bit overwhelmed and would love to find a walk through for putting this project type to good use.
Thanks in advance.

I'm using my own SiteMapProvider which is just inherited and little bit rewritten System.Web.XmlSiteMapProvider.
I want to return different siteMapNode for clients and for managers. Or maybe the same but with different Title property.
Is it possible? If yes, how can I do that?
Just wondering if there are any good tutorials on PHP/MySQL on the web that's free. I looked at youtube and the tutorials they have there are a bit too easy.
I need to have an autocomplete functionality using jquery, and I've encountered ZendX_JQuery which has such functionality available.
However, I've noticed that the entire ZendX_JQuery classes, are a bit old (the default jquery version is 1.3.2, and jquery ui 1.7.1). (see http://framework.zend.com/svn/framework/extras/branches/release-1.10/library/ZendX/JQuery.php)
Should I use that instead of my own written code to include the jquery library and etc., and should I use the ZendX_JQuery_View_Helper_AutoComplete class for such functionality ?
