• How can I move the clear button in a UITextField?

  For some reason, when I add a UITextfield as a subview of the contentview of a tablecell, the clearbutton does not align with the text typed in the field, and appears a bit underneath it. Is there any way I can move the text of the clearbutton to stop this from happening? Thanks for any help,

• Best way for user authentication on JavaEE 6 using JSF 2.0?

  I'm wondering what the current state of art recommendation is regarding user authentication for a web application making use of JSF 2.0 (and if any components do exist) and JEE6 core mechanisms (login/check permissions/logouts) with user information hold in a JPA entity. The Sun tutorial is a bit sparse on this (only handles servlets). This is without making use of a whole other framework, like Spring-Security (acegi), or Seam, but trying to stick hopefully with the new Java EE 6 platform (web profile) if possible. Thanks, Niko

  I have two colors that I need to linearly interpolate to create a duotone color based of another color's luminance value. Dim clr1 = Color.Black Dim clr2 = Color.FromArgb(224, 255, 165) Dim lum = Color.FromArgb(226, 189, 136).GetBrightness 'lum = 0.71 I know the result of this should be R=171, G=192, B=125, but I can't figure out how to do this. I've searched through SO quite a bit and all over Google, but have not discovered a way to produce this result. Can anyone help?

  What open source (preferably gem-based) parser-generator options do I have in Ruby? I've used (flex&bison)|(lex&yacc) from C in the past, and I'm comfortable with BNF-style specifications. I've heard of treetop, but it looks a bit alien and verbose compared to yacc... Purpose: I want to convert my text markup language to a BNF and generate the parsing code.   Whenever I come across a cute website, I am always curious to know which web framework was used by its developers? Being a novice in web development, a look at the page source doesn't give any clue. Any way(s) to get this information? If possible, may be with a bit of Ruby magic, I can figure out things like: which is the most/least used framework for my favorite sites, audio/video heavy sites, etc.

I have search all over Google, but all I seem to find is "run an SQL statement to alter the table to a BIGINT" - This seems a bit hack-ish to me, so I wanted to know if there was a way to specify a bigint in the ruby system like :big_int or something Any ideas?

• Construct a Netflix Affiliate URL to a search result page?

  I have a Netflix Affiliate account, but I don't want to direct users to the homepage for them to create an account, I want to direct them to a search result page. The reason for this is that on our site we have lots of titles but they can't be reliably linked to a single Netflix result programmatically, so we would prefer if we could direct users to a search page, and if the user signs up, get the revenue. Is this possible? I find the whole Netflix-Affiliate-but-Google-Affiliate scheme a bit daunting.

  I've got several demonstration programs that use Electroserver, but I'd also want to test the same code using Smartfox. What is the most straightforward method to do this kind of migration? I know the types of classes that need to be changed, but since the terminology is slightly different in both libraries, it's difficult to make a smooth transition. Fortunately, the programs are simple and I can probably do a bit of trial and error in replacing each missing class, but is there a better solution? Thanks.

  I have some strings that need a-strippin': ÃœT: 9.996636,76.294363 Tons of long strings of location codes. A literal regex in PHP won't match them, IE $pattern = /ÃœT:/; echo preg_replace($pattern, "", $row['location']); Won't match/strip anything. (To know it's working, /T:/ does strip the last bit of that string). What's the encoding error going on here? Alternately, I would accept a concise way to take out just the numbers.

• What is the difference between PS1 and PROMPT_COMMAND

  While taking a look at this awesome thread I noticed that some examples use PS1="Blah Blah Blah" and some use PROMPT_COMMAND="Blah Blah Blah" (and some use both) when setting the prompt in a bash shell. What is the difference between the two?   I am trying to create a picture gallery in android, where picture in selection (in gallery) will be bigger in size, glow a little bit. Where as pictures not selected will be dull, and smaller in size. I tried gallery.setUnselectedAlpha() function to make images unselected dull, but it is not working. • Custom Items in Lists in C# forms?

  I'm a bit new to the C#-form app developing and I want know, what's the best way around at making a control that holds a list of horizontal items. In which each of these items are horizontally ruled to it's parent control, contain a thumbnail to the left and a large text block to the right of image and a smaller text block underneath that. So basically this isn't a predefined control I can find in the toolbox. Any ideas?
