    I am using jQuery validation plugin and Watermark plugin. The problem I am facing is when i applied a watermark to any input field for which validation is also applied then validations are failing For Example: <input type=text name=myinput class="required"> and I applied a watermark for this field in document ready function: $("#myinput ").Watermark("myinput "); This is the sample case where validation is failing as value=myinput is set for input field which is watermarked.

  • Is DateTime.ParseExact() faster than DateTime.Parse()

    I would like to know if ParseExact is faster than Parse. I think that it should be ParseExact since you already gave the format but I also think all the checking for the Culture info would slow it down. Does microsoft say in any document on performance difference between the two. The format to be used is a generic 'yyyy/MM/dd' format .

    Hi, I am trying to figure out certain memory leak conditions in javascript on a few browsers. Currently I'm only testing FF 3.6, Opera 10.10, and Safari 4.0.3. I've started with a fairly simple test, and can confirm no memory leaks in Firefox and Safari. But Opera just takes memory and never gives it back. What gives? No luck. As you can see this is simple JS, no circular DOM links, no closures. I monitor the memory usage using 'top' on Mac 10.4.11. Memory usage spikes up on page load, as expected. In FF and Safari reloading the page does not use any further memory, and all memory is returned when the window (tab) is closed. In Opera, memory spikes on load, and seems to also spike further on each reload (but not always...). But regardless of reload, memory never goes back down below the initial load spike. I had hoped this was a no-brainer test that all browsers would pass, so I could move on to more "interesting" conditions. Am I doing something wrong here? Or is this a known Opera issue? Is there something similar/a workaround for this kind of functionality in Chrome (specifically)?

    I would like to create a text box which loads xml files and let users edit them. However, I cannot use XmlDocument to load since the files can be very large. I am looking for options to stream/load the xml document in chunks so that I do not get out of memory errors -- at the same time, performance is important too. However, this textfile contains lots of HTML unsafe characters such as "<" and the "" which would need to be encoded into & gt; (sans space) and & lt;. Is there some library method I can use to sanatize my text document to replace all these HTML special characters with their safe encoded equivelants?

  • Sanity Check: change event not firing first time using keyboard

    I've done a good amount of research on this and found a bunch of reported problems and solutions but the general consensus seems that all change problems in IE6 were fixed in jQuery 1.4.2. I'm having an issue where a change event is not firing in jQuery 1.4.2, but it did fire successfully in jQuery 1.3.2. This is in IE6. I'm about to submit a bug for this, but for my sanity I wanted to post it here first to see if there's something dumb I'm missing. Onload of the page, give the first element focus. Onchange of the first element, alert. If you use the mouse, it works as expected. The page loads, the focus is in the drop down, you change the option, you get the alert. The problem is if you use the keyboard. The page loads, the focus is in the drop down, you press the down arrow. The option changes. Tab off the field, no alert. Weird. To make it even weirder, if you tab back into the field and change it again (all using the keyboard), the change event DOES fire after tab out this time. Any ideas?

    Can resources be extracted from a compiled iPhone app that is released to the iTunes store? I'm particularly interested in the security of XML files... if I have copyrighted data in an XML document in my resource directory, how likely is it for someone to extract that information and paste it around the internet? If it's as easy as using a resource editor, how can that data be secured?
