  • Getting specific values with regex [JAVA, ANDROID]

    - by David
I need to knowingly isolate each row of the vcard and get its value. For instance, I want to get "5555" from X-CUSTOMFIELD. So far, my thoughts are: "X-CUSTOMFIELD;\d+" I have been looking at some tutorials and I am a little confused with what function to use? What would my regex above return? Would it give me the whole line or just the numerical part (5555)? I was thinking I i get the whole row, I can use substring to get the digits? BEGIN:VCARD VERSION:2.1 N:Last;First; FN:First Last TEL;HOME;VOICE:111111 TEL;MOBILE;VOICE:222222 X-CUSTOMFIELD;5555 END:VCARD

  • How to extract byte-array from one xml and store it in another in Java

    - by grobartn
So I am using DocumentBuilderFactory and DocumentBuilder to parse an xml. So it is DOM parser. But what I am trying to do is extract byte-array data (its an image encoded in base64) Store it in one object and later in code write it out to another xml encoded in base64. What is the best way to store this in btw. Store it as string? or as ByteArray? How can I extract byte array data in best way and write it out. I am not experienced with this so wanted to get opinion from the group. UPDATE: I am given XML I do not have control of incoming XML that comes in binary64 encoded < byte-array > ... base64 encoded image ... < /byte-array > Using parser I have I need to store this node and question is should that be byte or string and then writing it out to another node in new xml. again in base64 encoding. thanks

  • Java Swing custom shapes (2D Graphics)

    - by juFo
I need to draw custom shapes. Now when a user clicks on several points on the panel I create a shape using a polygon. public void mouseClicked(MouseEvent e) { polygon.addPoint(e.getX(), e.getY()); repaint(); } But I don't know if this is the best way to draw custom shapes. It should be possible to edit a drawn shape: resize change its fill color change the stroke color copy/paste it move a single point of the polygon ... I have seen people creating an own class implementing the Shape class and using a GeneralPath. But again I have no idea if this is a good way. Now I can create my own shape with a polygon (or with a GeneralPath) but I have no clue how to attach all the edit functions to my own shape (the edit functions I mean the resize, move, etc from above). I hope somebody could show me a way to do this or maybe write a little bit of code to demonstrate this. Thanks in advance!!

  • Compile error in java application using netbeans - linked project

    - by Malachi
I have a project which has shared functionality between three other projects and have linked these to existing projects as I normally would using the add project functionality of the libraries folder. This all used to work however when I started up Netbeans yesterday it just wasn't working as in the other projects won't compile even though the projects are linked. It can recognise the packages - just the actual classes themselves were not recognised. I have checked the dist folder of the shared project and the Shared.jar file exists. Any suggestions?

  • java number exceeds long.max_value - how to detect?

    - by jurchiks
I'm having problems detecting if a sum/multiplication of two numbers exceeds the maximum value of a long integer. Example code: long a = 2 * Long.MAX_VALUE; System.out.println("long.max * smth > long.max... or is it? a=" + a); This gives me -2, while I would expect it to throw a NumberFormatException... Is there a simple way of making this work? Because I have some code that does multiplications in nested IF blocks or additions in a loop and I would hate to add more IFs to each IF or inside the loop. Edit: oh well, it seems that this answer from another question is the most appropriate for what I need: http://stackoverflow.com/a/9057367/540394 I don't want to do boxing/unboxing as it adds unnecassary overhead, and this way is very short, which is a huge plus to me. I'll just write two short functions to do these checks and return the min or max long. Edit2: here's the function for limiting a long to its min/max value according to the answer I linked to above: /** * @param a : one of the two numbers added/multiplied * @param b : the other of the two numbers * @param c : the result of the addition/multiplication * @return the minimum or maximum value of a long integer if addition/multiplication of a and b is less than Long.MIN_VALUE or more than Long.MAX_VALUE */ public static long limitLong(long a, long b, long c) { return (((a > 0) && (b > 0) && (c <= 0)) ? Long.MAX_VALUE : (((a < 0) && (b < 0) && (c >= 0)) ? Long.MIN_VALUE : c)); } Tell me if you think this is wrong.

  • java tracing spaghetti code

  • Setting the height of a row in a JTable in java

    - by Douglas Grealis
I have been searching for a solution to be able to increase the height of a row in a JTable. I have been using the setRowHeight(int int) method which compiles and runs OK, but no row[s] have been increased. When I use the getRowHeight(int) method of the row I set the height to, it does print out the size I increased the row to, so I'm not sure what is wrong. The code below is a rough illustration how I am trying to solve it. My class extends JFrame. String[] columnNames = {"Column 1", "Column 2", "Column 1 3"}; JTable table = new JTable(new DefaultTableModel(columnNames, people.size())); DefaultTableModel model = (DefaultTableModel) table.getModel(); int count =1; for(Person p: people) { model.insertRow(count,(new Object[]{count, p.getName(), p.getAge()+"", p.getNationality})); count++; } table.setRowHeight(1, 15);//Try set height to 15 (I've tried higher) Can anyone tell me where I am going wrong? I am trying to increase the height of row 1 to 15 pixels?

  • Get annotations of return type in Java

    - by Apropos
I'm using Spring MVC and am using aspects to advise my controllers. I'm running into one issue: controllers that return a value annotated with the @ResponseBody type. How are you able to find the annotations applied to the return type? @Around("myPointcut()") private Object checkAnnotations(ProceedingJoinPoint pjp) throws Throwable { Object result = pjp.proceed(); Method method = ((MethodSignature)pjp.getSignature()).getMethod(); System.out.println("Checking return type annotations."); for(Annotation annotation : method.getReturnType().getAnnotations()){ System.out.println(annotation.toString()); } System.out.println("Checking annotations on returned object."); for(Annotation annotation : result.getClass().getAnnotations()){ System.out.println(annotation.toString()); } return result; } Unfortunately, neither of these methods seem to have the desired effect. I can retrieve annotations on the type of object being returned, but not the ones being added at return time.

  • Read / Write XML file from Java application bundle

    - by Peter
Hi there! I've got an XML file that is parsed and written in my application. From within my IDE (Eclipse) I simply address it like this: Reading: private String xmlFile = "file.xml"; and then I build the document: doc = sax.build(xmlFile); Writing is done like this: writer = new FileWriter("file.xml"); Runs great so far, but after bundling my application, the file is no longer accessible. What exactly do I have to do to make it accessible from within an application bundle? I'm absolutely not familiar with the classpath or whatever I need for that, so please go easy on me! Thank you very much!

  • Java library to partially export a database while respecting referential integrity constraints

    - by Mwanji Ezana
My production database is several GB's uncompressed and it's getting to be a pain to download and run locally when trying to reproduce a bug or test a feature with real data. I would like to be able to select the specific records that interest me, then have the library figure out what other records are necessary to produce a dataset that respects the databases integrity constraints and finally print it out as a list of insert statements or dump that I can restore. For example: given Author, Blog and Comment tables when I select comments posted after a certain date I should get inserts for the Blog records the comments have foreign keys to and the Author records those Blogs have foreign keys to.

  • Does Java have a .new operator?

    - by chickeninabiscuit
I came across this code today whilst reading Accelerated GWT (Gupta) - page 151. public static void getListOfBooks(String category, BookStore bookStore) { serviceInstance.getBooks(category, bookStore.new BookListUpdaterCallback()); } public static void storeOrder(List books, String userName, BookStore bookStore) { serviceInstance.storeOrder(books, userName, bookStore.new StoreOrderCallback()); } What are those new operators doing there? I've never seen such syntax, can anyone explain?

  • Using java class HttpsURLConnection

    - by KB22
Hi all, I have a small piece of code which basically impements a HTTP-Client, i.e. it POSTS request and works with re RESPONSE. As long as HTTP is concenerned everthing work well. For some reason I now have to support HTTPS too. So here is briefly what I do in order to get a connection opened: URL url = new URL(serverAddress); HttpsURLConnection httpsConn = (HttpsURLConnection) url.openConnection(); This fails, stating: sun.net.www.protocol.https.HttpsURLConnectionImpl cannot be cast to com.sun.net.ssl.HttpsURLConnection I guess this is kinda trivial, but I just don't get what I'm doing wrong in this one... Googled it, and the code just looks right - not? any ideas are appreciated! thanks, K

  • Java Session Like Object

    - by scriptmonster
I have been developing a project and in this project i have designed my code to do the same job after a specified time interval continuously. The job that wanted to be done has a lot of distinct cycles. The interval is small to execute them normally thus i used threads. Until that point everything is clear for me. To decrease the process and information transaction i wanted to put an session like object that holds the given data and provide it to any thread at anytime. With this object i plan to not query the same configuration information from database at everytime but if it exists on the session take it else query and store on session. I'm not sure how to implement this structure. Regards,

  • How does one implement a truly asynchronous java thread

    - by Ritesh M Nayak
    I have a function that needs to perfom two operations, one which finishes fast and one which takes a long time to run. I want to be able to delegate the long running operation to a thread and I dont care when the thread finishes, but the threads needs to complete. I implemented this as shown below , but, my secondoperation never gets done as the function exits after the start() call. How I can ensure that the function returns but the second operation thread finishes its execution as well and is not dependent on the parent thread ? public void someFunction(String data) { smallOperation() Blah a = new Blah(); Thread th = new Thread(a); th.Start(); } class SecondOperation implements Runnable { public void run(){ // doSomething long running } }

  • List files with two dots in their names using java regular expressions

    - by Nivas
I was trying to match files in a directory that had two dots in their name, something like theme.default.properties I thought the pattern .\\..\\.. should be the required pattern [. matches any character and \. matches a dot] but it matches both oneTwo.txt and theme.default.properties I tried the following: [resources/themes has two files oneTwo.txt and theme.default.properties] 1. public static void loadThemes() { File themeDirectory = new File("resources/themes"); if(themeDirectory.exists()) { File[] themeFiles = themeDirectory.listFiles(); for(File themeFile : themeFiles) { if(themeFile.getName().matches(".\\..\\..")); { System.out.println(themeFile.getName()); } } } } This prints nothing and the following File[] themeFiles = themeDirectory.listFiles(new FilenameFilter() { public boolean accept(File dir, String name) { return name.matches(".\\..\\.."); } }); for (File file : themeFiles) { System.out.println(file.getName()); } prints both oneTwo.txt theme.default.properties I am unable to find why these two give different results and which pattern I should be using to match two dots... Can someone help?
