• How to search drupal site from the new Unity lense?

  I'm creating a simple Unity lense for my college site which is based on Drupal, but I don't know how to adapt this command for Drupal API. Please help, it's python. We now create our query url, using the Wikipedia opensearch API url = ("%s/w/api.php?action=opensearch&limit=25&format=json&search=%s" % (self.wiki, search)) I'm using template to write lense following Wikipedia example http://developer.ubuntu.com/2012/04/how-to-create-a-wikipedia-unity-lens-for-ubuntu/. I don't know python but Im familiar with C. This Drupal API calling is the only problem I have to successfully develop a lense. Please help!

• exporting a maya model to work with Playstation mobile Studio?

  Ive just started to program in Playstation Mobile Studio for the PS vita. The Models that are available to use in Ps Development have to .mdk models. The studio comes with a a model converter that converts from DAE, FBX, XSI and X files. However ive tried converting a maya scene to both DAE and FBX files but the converter returns an error with no explanation. Ive even tried to use blender and the tutorial here: http://www.gamefromscratch.com/post/2012/04/30/Exporting-from-Blender-to-PS-Suite-Blender-to-Vita-in-under-5-minutes.aspx but this fails at the converter too. With regards to maya all i do is export the file with default settings. Anyone know any good tutorials on this or guess why this would be happening?

  I've recently installed Ubuntu 14.04 LTS in my ASUS D550CA, and so far things have gone great. The only problem I've got is the Wi-Fi. It doesn't work. I've got an Qualcomm Atheros AR9485. I've tried installing the drivers, but the sytem says it doesn't find any. So I started looking around this forum for solutions. I've read every single post from this forum about my Wi-Fi network adapter, and I've found nothing that solves my problem. Let me give you some info about my configuration. • Is type safety worth the trade-offs?

  I began coding in in Python primarily where there is no type safety, then moved to C# and Java where there is. I found that I could work a bit more quickly and with less headaches in Python, but then again, my C# and Java apps are at much higher level of complexity so I have never given Python a true stress test I suppose. The Java and C# camps make it sound like without the type safety in place, most people would be running into all sorts of horrible bugs left an right and it would be more trouble than its worth. This is not a language comparison, so please do not address issues like compiled vs interpreted. Is type safety worth the hit to speed of development and flexibilty? WHY? to the people who wanted an example of the opinion that dynamic typing is faster: "Use a dynamically typed language during development.   Asus N PC, runs 10.10 x86_64 The Asus N comes with 4 usb 2.0 ports, each labelled 2.0 on the case. Attempting to add two usb 3.0 ports to be provided by a generic usb 3.0 pci express card installed in the pci expres slot. The new card says usb 3.0 and has the blue ports. The card is installed into the laptop unpowered, then the laptop is powered on and boots normally. I am not referring to the case of trying to have multiple ng-app declarations on the same page; rather, I mean different sections of a large site that have their own, unique ng-app declaration. As Scott Allen writes in his OdeToCode blog: One scenario I haven't found addressed very well is the scenario where multiple apps exist in the same greater web application and require some shared code on the client. Are there any recommended approaches to take, pitfalls to avoid, or good sample structures of this scenario that you can point to?

• Get Fanatical About Your Followers

  In the fourth of our series of discussions with Aberdeen’s Trip Kucera, we touch on what fans of your brand have come to expect in exchange for their fandom. Spotlight: Around the Oracle Social office, we live for football. So when we think of a true “fan” of a brand, something on the level of a football fan is what comes to mind. But are brands trying to invest fans on that same level? Trip: Yeah, if you’re a football fan, this is definitely your time of year. And if you’ve been to any NFL games recently, especially if you hadn’t been for a few years previously, you may have noticed that from the cup holders to in-stadium Wi-Fi, there’s an increasing emphasis being placed on “fan-focused” accommodations. That’s what they’re known as in the stadium business. Spotlight: How are brands doing in that fan-focused arena? Trip: Remember fan is short for “fanatical.” Brands can definitely learn from the way teams have become fanatical about their fans, or in the social media world, their followers. Many companies consider a segment of their addressable social audience as true fans; I’ve even heard the term “super-fans” used. So just as fans know and can tell you nearly everything about their favorite team, our research shows that there’s a lot value from getting to know your social audience—your followers—at a deeper level. Spotlight: So did your research show there’s a lot to be gained by making fandom a two-way street? Trip: Aberdeen’s new social relationship management research suggests that companies should develop capabilities to better analyze their social audience at a more granular level. Countless “ripped from the headlines” examples, from “United Breaks Guitars” to the most recent British Airways social fiasco we talked about a few weeks ago show how social can magnify the impact of a single customer voice. Spotlight: So how do the companies who are executing social most successfully do that? Trip: Leaders, which are the top-performing companies in Aberdeen’s study, are showing the value of identifying and categorizing your social audience. You should certainly treat every customer as if they have 10,000 followers, because they just might, but you can also proactively engage with high-value customer and high-value influencers. Getting back to the football analogy, it’s like how teams strive to give every guest a great experience, but they really roll out the red carpet for those season ticket and luxury box holders. Spotlight: I’m not allowed in luxury boxes, so you’ll have to tell me what that’s like. But what is the brand equivalent of rolling out the red carpet? Trip: Leaders are nearly three times more likely than Followers to have a process in place that identifies key social influencers for engagement, and more than twice as likely to identify customer advocates for social outreach. This is the kind of knowledge that gives companies the ability to better target social messaging and promotions like we talked about in our last discussion, as well as a basis for understanding how to measure the impact of their social media programs. I’ll give you an example. I hosted an event at one of my favorite restaurants recently. I had mentioned them in a Tweet several weeks before the event, and on the day of the event, they Tweeted out that they were looking forward to seeing me that evening for the event. It’s a small thing, but it had a big impact and I’d certainly go back as a result. Spotlight: So what specifically can brands use and look at to determine where their potential super-fans are? Trip: Social graph analysis, which looks at both the demographic/psychographic trends as well as the behavioral connections, can surface important brand value. Aberdeen’s PR and Brand Management research indicated that top-performing companies are more than three times more likely than Followers to both determine demographic trends through social listening (44% vs. 13%), and to identify meaningful customer segments through social (44% vs. 12%). This kind of brand-level insight can complement and enrich traditional market research. • NHibernate Pitfalls: Custom Types and Detecting Changes

NHibernate supports the declaration of properties of user-defined types, that is, not entities, collections or primitive types. These are used for mapping a database columns, of any type, into a different type, which may not even be an entity; think, for example, of a custom user type that converts a BLOB column into an Image. User types must implement interface NHibernate.UserTypes.IUserType. This interface specifies an Equals method that is used for comparing two instances of the user type. • I can't click on some things and other problems

  I have some issues with my Ubuntu 12.04 . When I open Ubuntu Software Center, the program opens and than just disappears just when it is opened. My Ubuntu 12.04 won't install any updates because of this error in the picture. Worst of all: I can't click on anything except for programs that from Ubuntu: for example I can't browse the internet via Firefox or Chromium... I can't click on folders. I can't click on things in my Thunderbird mail program. But I can click on Update manager for example... It is just clicking that doesn't work, when I try 'clicking' something with using the tab-button and enter I can click on something - in every case. But that's just too annoying to do. Oh sorry guys I had some screenshots that illustrate the problems, but I can't get them off the 'problem pc ubuntu 12.04' about which I am talking... it's so sad

But, now I want to install vim locally(i.e.,using a pendrive or CD drive). Where and how can I accomplish this,as I am new to it. • How to setup whole-disk encryption with dual boot on a MacBook Pro (generation 9,2 with 12.04)

  I can install Ubuntu 12.04 on the MacBook when using the "noapic" kernel boot option, using the alternate amd64+mac image (from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/12.04/release/ ). But after installation the screen turn sblack after trying to boot "Windows" (as named in the boot menu that shows up when holding Option/Alt during startup). I want to use whole-disk encryption and given that only one free partition is available, I have setup LVM to do so: - vg0 contains bootlv and cryptlv - in cryptlv I have setup encryption with another LVM volume group (vg1, which holds swaplv, rootlv and homelv) I have not installed Grub during installation (because I was not sure about the partition) and when trying to install it later on /dev/sda4 (which contains the outer LVM) it complained that it could not determine the file system, and --force did not help either. The black screen / behavior looks similar to starting the installer without enabling the noapic option.

• Tiled perlin/value noise texture with (2^n)+1 size

  Actually what I have in mind is value noise I think, but what I am going to ask applies to both of them. It is known that if you want to produce tiled texture by using the perlin/value noise, the size of the texture should be specified as the power of 2 (2^n). Without any modifications to the algorithm when you use the size of (2^n)+1 the texture cannot be tiled anymore, so I am wondering whether it is possible (by modifying the algorithm somehow) to generate such tiling texture with the size of (2^n)+1. It is supposed to deny remote login when SSH is not present. In the file /etc/xrdp/xrdp.ini I tried to change the [global] section by adding "ip=127.0.0.1" and it didn't work.

• Migrating VB6 to HTML5 is not a fiction - Customer success story

  All of you VB developers in the present or past would probably find it hard to believe that the old VB code can be migrated and modernized into the latest .NET based HTML5 without having to rewrite the application. But we have been working on such tools for the past couple of years and already have several real world applications that were fully 'transposed' from VB6. The solution is called Instant CloudMove and its main tool is called the TranspositionStudio. It is a unique solution that relies on the concept of transposition. Transposition comes from mathematics and music and refers to exchanging elements while everything else remains the same or moving an element as is from one environment to another. This means that we are taking the source code and put it in a modern technological environment with relatively few adjustments.The concept is based on a set of Mapping Expressions which are basically links between an element in the source environment and one in the target environment that has the same functionality. About 95% of the code is usually mapped out-of-the-box and the rest is handled with easy-to-use mapping tools designed for Visual Studio developers providing them with a familiar environment and concepts for completing the mapping and allowing them to extend and customize existing mapping expressions. The solution is also based on a circular workflow that enables developers to make any changes as required until the result is satisfying.As opposed to existing migration solutions that offer automation are usually a “black box” to the user, the transposition concept enables full visibility, flexibility and control over the code and process at all times allowing to also add/change functionalities or upgrade the UI within the process and tools.This is exactly the case with our customer’s aging VB6 PMS (Property Management System) which needed a technological update as well as a design refresh. The decision was to move the VB6 application which had about 1 million lines of code into the latest web technology. Since the application was initially written 13 years ago and had many upgrades since the code must be very patchy and includes unused sections. As a result, the company Mihshuv Group considered rewriting the entire application in Java since it already had the knowledge. Rewrite would allow starting with a clean slate and designing functionality, database architecture, UI without any constraints. On the other hand, rewrite entitles a long and detailed specification work as well as a thorough QA and this translates into a long project with high risk and costs.So the company looked for a migration solution as an alternative; the research lead to Gizmox and after examining the technology it was decided to perform a hybrid project which would include an automatic transposition of the core of the VB6 application (200,000 lines of code) while they redesigning the UI, adding new functionality, deleting unused code and rewriting about 140 reports with Crystal Reports will be done manually using Visual WebGui development tools.The migration part of the project was completed in 65 days by 3 developers from Mihshuv Group guided by Gizmox migration experts while the rewrite and UI upgrade tasks took about the same. So in only a few months period Mihshuv Group generated an up-to-date product, written in the latest Web technology with modern, friendly UI and improved functionality.   This one was not easy to solve ... Error: The crawler could not communicate with the server. Check that the server is available and that the firewall access is configured. Context: Some pages were not crawled (giving the above error) and, what is worse, all the sub content of that site was not crawled either! (the pages were the homepages of the site) Solution:The pages that could not be crawled due to this error contained a custom web part. This web part used default credentials for a given action. During crawling, the SP_Search account tried to perform this action but did not have the appropriate rights. But when it comes to executing the Stored Procedures, it can be a bit more complicated. In this article, we will demonstrate how to execute a Stored Procedure in LightSwitch. For the purposes of this article, we will be using the RSSBus Email Data Provider, but the same process will work with any of our ADO.NET Providers. Creating the RIA Service. Step 1: Open Visual Studio and create a new WCF RIA Service Class Project. Step 2:Add the reference to the RSSBus Email Data Provider dll in the (ProjectName).Web project. Step 3: Add a new Domain Service Class to the (ProjectName).Web project. Step 4: In the new Domain Service Class, create a new class with the attributes needed for the Stored Procedure's parameters. In this demo, the Stored Procedure we are executing is called SendMessage. • Calendar icon in unity shows wrong date

  There is a column of icons in unity on the far left and one of them has the number "31" in big numerals. If you mouse over it it says "Google Calendar" and if you click on it you get google calendar which of course shows the correct date. Today is November 3. Shouldn't it say "3" instead? If I type "date" from the command line I get Sun Nov 3 21:19:37 GMT 2013 I see this was fixed for Chrome at least in 2011 http://gmailblog.blogspot.co.uk/2011/04/5-years-of-google-calendar-and-new.html .

Code 2011.1.4.2 has just been released. It looks like it fixes a pretty nasty bug. Get it if you think it applies to you. Unless you have a great reason NOT to upgrade, I would strongly advise you to upgrade to 2011.1.4.2. Why? Because the readme file says they STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU ALL UPGRADE TO THIS CODE IMMEDIATELY using LOTS OF CAPITAL LETTERS. That's good enough for me. Be sure to run the health check like the readme tells you to.

• Can't control connection bit rate using iwconfig with Atheros TL-WN821N (AR7010)

  I'm trying to reduce the connection bit rate on my Atheros TP-Link TL-WN821N v3 usb wifi adapter due to frequent instability issues (reported connection speed goes down to 1Mb/s and I have to physically reconnect the adapter to regain a connection). I know this is a common problem with this device, and I have tried everything I can think of to fix it, including using drivers from linux-backports; compiling and installing a custom firmware (following instructions on https://wiki.debian.org/ath9k_htc#fw-free) and (as a last resort) using ndiswrapper. When using ndiswrapper, the wifi adapter is stable and operates in g mode at 54Mb/s (whilst when using the default ath9k_htc module, the adapter connects in n mode and the bit rate fluctuates constantly). Unfortunately, with this setup I have to run my processor using only one core, since using SMP with ndiswrapper causes a kernel oops on my system. So I want to lock my bit rate to 54Mb/s (or less, if need be) for connection stability, using the ath9k_htc module. I've tried 'sudo iwconfig wlan0 rate 54M'; the command runs with no error but when I check the bit rate with 'sudo iwlist wlan0 bitrate' the command returns: wlan0 unknown bit-rate information.
