  • blank space on google home page

    2 questions, i was doing nothing productive, and tried selecting the google home page (a left click drag and select whole page) on google.com i see that beside the search box, on the left side, there is an empty space &nbsp; i looked up the source code and there indeed was a <td width=25%>&nbsp;</td> stupid as it may sound, but i was still curious to know why the blank space is out there..or is it just a simple typo?? :) also, any idea what window.lol&&lol() does? curious yet again, google search didnt get me any result and i thought i would turn to stackoverflow to enlighten me... thanks, ivar

Here's a sample code, that opens an internet explorer window, navigates to google, and gets some element on the page by its unique id: set ie = CreateObject("InternetExplorer.Application") ie.navigate("www.google.com") ie.visible = true while ie.readystate <> 4 wscript.sleep 100 WEnd set some_object = ie.document.getelementbyid("xjsc") MsgBox some_object.tagname, 0 This sample brings me a DIV popup, which satisfies me completely. But at the next step I'd like to check whether some id exists in the page, or not. Unfortunately, I can't just be, like, set some_object = ie.document.getelementbyid("some_non_existant_id") if some_object.tagname = "" then ... because it gives me the following error: ie.vbs(12, 1) Microsoft VBScript runtime error: Object required: 'some_object' So, what's the best practice to check whether an element has been found or not?

  • Double Slash at end of URL when going to HTTPS?

    My site currently uses http and https sections based on the data being collected on the site (form data uses https). On my index page, I have the PHP code at the top: <?php session_start(); ob_start(); if( $_SERVER['SERVER_PORT'] == 443) { header('Location:http://'.$_SERVER['HTTP_HOST'].dirname($_SERVER['PHP_SELF'])); die(); } ?> However, the page will not load and I get a 404 error. Similarly, when i visit the sections with https security using the head code: <?php session_start(); ob_start(); if( $_SERVER['SERVER_PORT'] == 80) { header('Location:https://'.$_SERVER['HTTP_HOST'].dirname($_SERVER['PHP_SELF']).'/'.basename($_SERVER['PHP_SELF'])); die(); } ?> The site does not respond AND for some reason creates a double slash when switching from http to https. Example: http://www.abc.com/, then clicking button which should route to enroll.php shows http://www.abc.com//enroll.php why the need for the double slash and can anybody help with the 404 errors?

  • How to find what ActiveX control is referred on a web page?

    I have developed a web application (ASP.NET Web Forms). One of my customer has very restrictive policies. When he accesses the web page, IE shows this message: Your security settings do not allow Web sites to use ActiveX controls installed on your computer. This page may not display correctly. As far as I know, we don't use ActiveX controls on our page. I did a "View Souce" and did not find anything suspect. How can I find what part of my page refers to an ActiveX. The application uses jQuery and a few jQuery plug-ins. Is there a tool/add-in like "Fire Bug" that I can use to list the ActiveX controls referred on a page?

  • Browser back button broken between hidden div's

    First of all, these pages will never be on the web but will be in internal memory. They are a group of linked documents---an ebook. http://www.anmldr.com/testdivs When I click on the link in the first div, the second div becomes visible and the first div is hidden. The problem is with the browser's back button. If you then click on the back button, the URL updates but the first div does not show again. How can I correct the back button so that the first div shows? The link from the second div to the first div works fine but it is the browser back button that I do not know how to work with. Thanks, Linda P.S. These are using CSS3 so it is better to use a WebKit based browser.

  • Floats not staying inside div in webkit browser, but do if cached.

    Hiya All, I have a rather strange bug which i can't make sense of that is apearing in webkit based browsers (chrome and safari). When this page http://bluprintliving.mammalworld.com/turnmill-street loads for the first time the content seems to jump out of the container but only at the end of the render. on refresh it stays in and behaves. Generally the page in cache and out of cache looks different. Anyone have any ideas or clues they can shed on this issue? Much appreciated.   • Download textarea contents as a file using only Javascript (no server-side)

    I am being asked to make a "download" button that downloads the contents of a textarea on the same page as a file, with the browser's "Save As" dialog showing up. Copy/paste would do the job just fine, but it is a "requirement". Right now, I am just posting the contents of the textarea to the server, which echos them back with "Content-disposition: attachment" slapped on. Is there a way to do this with just client-side Javascript?

  • Internet Explorer background-color hover problem

    I have a strange Problem with table formating using IE 7. My table looks like this: In IE, when using border-collapse, the borders don't get displayed correctly. That's why I used this fix: .table-vmlist td { border-top: 1px solid black; } td.col-vm-status, tr.row-details td { border-left: 1px solid black; } td.col-vm-rdp, tr.row-details td { border-right: 1px solid black; } .table-vmlist { border-bottom: 1px solid black;} When hovering over the row, it gets highlighted with CSS: .table-vmlist tr.row-vm { background-color: #A4C3EF; } .table-vmlist tr.row-vm:hover { background-color: #91BAEF; } Now, in IE 7, when moving the mouse from the top to the bottom of the list, every row gets highlighted correctly and no problems happen. But if I move my mouse pointer from the bottom of the list to the top, every second row seems to loose the border. Can someone explain what the problem is, and how to solve it?     I have a website with brandspace theme from pixelentity. Currently, the slider move from right to left ( auto transition) . But, when the slider reaches the last image, it will go back to the first image by making all previous images sliding back from left to right.     Hi - I'm using DataTables to dress up a table I'm using to display XML results based on an XSL transformation. I have everything working from a technical sense (paging, sorting, filtering), but I'm trying to figure out to use a ThemeRoller theme to make it look like they have on their website. So far, I have added the following file to my project with its reference: <link type="text/css" href="css/custom-theme/jquery-ui-1.8.7.custom.css" rel="stylesheet"/> and enabled ThemeRoller themes using the following as per the DataTables website: $(document).ready(function() { $('#mainTable').dataTable( { "bJQueryUI": true, "sPaginationType": "two_button" }); }); The table gets styled, but it doesn't look right with the header rows being too wide and things being on multiple lines that should be on one line. Any indication as to what I'm doing wrong? Thanks very much in advance.

  • Printable Version of Google Visualizations DataTable

    I have a custom routing application that takes information for a route from google maps. It then creates a Google Visualizations DataTable to hold all the steps in the route. My current problem is that in order to reduce overflow for very large routes, I have enabled paging in the options of the DataTable. This leads to a not so printer friendly version because only the portion of the data that is shown in the table will be printed. The other portions of the table are loaded dynamically by the API when you click prev and next. Is there a not so hard way to get the DataTable to be printer friendly when it comes time without sacrificing the ability to have paging enabled?

For example, if "navigation 1" was "this is the first item in the navigation", How do I make the width of the whole dropdown wider automatically, but without affecting the size of the navigation button which causes the dropdown the dropdown when mouseover'ed? Basically, I don't want to text to wrap in the dropdown, but at the same time, I don't want to button for the dropdown to go wider.
