One time, machine rebooted (not manually), when I turn it on, it runs fsck on /dev/sdc2 and fix some errors and some files are missing on /dev/sdc2 I'v check /dev/sdc2 for badblocks, it doesn't have it ( using e2fsck -c /dev/sdc2 ) Here is the output of fsck http://pastebin.com/D5LmLVBY What else I can do to understand what's wrong here?   • Set Error-Pages for all Applications in Tomcat

    I'm trying to set up custom error pages in tomcat 6, because I don't want the default ones to show up. My error pages are static html, no jsp or anything dynamic. I know how to do this through the web.xml in each application but I'd prefere to setup the error pages only once for the entire server. I tried to add the following fragment to the global web.xml (in conf), but no matter what I add under location, it does not show. <error-page> <error-code>404</error-code> <location>/404.html</location> </error-page> What do I need to do to gobally define custom error pages?   • Unable to mount 1TB USB external HDD - Error

    Hi, I'm getting an error when I plug in my 1TB USB external HDD, the wierd thing about this is that it was working fine before and I've been using it for about a couple of months now. yesterday I compressed one of the folders which had about 120GB of data but the compression failed after an hour and I decided to unmount the drive and shut everything down.   • file copy error from system to cifs mount

    When coping a file greater than 64kB from an Ubuntu server to a CIFS mounted windows share, most of the data is copied, but it seems the last chunk doesn't get copied. The size doesn't match, and the md5 check sums don't match. I have plenty of file space, but then I use cp, I get the following... cp: closing `cloudBackup/asdf.txt': No space left on device Using rsync, I get the following... rsync: close failed on "/home/fluffy/cloudBackup/.asdf.txt.qrBWe6": No space left on device (28) rsync error: error in file IO (code 11) at receiver.c(752) [receiver=3.0.8] rsync: connection unexpectedly closed (29 bytes received so far) [sender] rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(601) [sender=3.0.8] I have full read/write permissions on the mounted share. I can copy locally and between the mount and system via SSH just fine. Any ideas? Thank you

How should I handle for those URL due their system / application showed invalid URL. e.g http://www.example/images/products/s_=enlarge_16gb.jpg but, I dunno what happen to yahoo groups, it break the link into http://www.example/images/products/s_= enlarge_16gb.jpg and I only make the top part become hyperlink, which is http://www.example/images/products/s_= Because of the URL, Google show crawl error, I got few error because of this kind of result or because other people typo error. How do I prevent this. I am sure I don't have the right go and change other people post. What is the solution for this. Thanks!

  • Design pattern to handle queries using multiple models

    I am presented with a dilemma while trying to re-designing the class structure for my PHP/MySQL application to make it more elegant and conform it to the SOLID principle. The problem goes like this: Let as assume, there is an abstract class called person which has certain properties to define a generic person, such as name, age, date of birth etc. There are two classes, student, and teacher, that implements this abstract class. They add their own unique properties to it. I have designed all the three classes to include all the operational logic (details of which are not relevant in context of the question). Now, I need to create views/reports/data grids which contain details from multiple classes, for example, say, a list of all students doing projects in Chemistry mentored by a teacher whose name is the parameter to the query. This is just one example of a view, there are many different views in the application, which uses data from 3-4 tables, and each of them have multiple input parameters to generate them. Considering this particular example, I have written the relevant query using JOIN and the results are as expected and proper, now here is the dilemma: Keeping in mind the single responsibility principle, where should I keep this query? It does not belong to either Student class, or Teacher class or any other classes currently present. a) Should I create a new class, say dataView class, and design it as a MVC pattern and keep the query there? What about the other views? how do they fit in this architecture? b) Should I not keep the query in code at all, and make it DB View ? c) Am I completely wrong in the approach? If so what is the right approach? My considerations are as follows: a) should be easy to add new views later on if requirement comes, without having to copy-paste-modify code b) would like to make it as loosely coupled as possible so that if minor db structure changes happen, it does not break I did google searches on report design and OOP report generators, but all the result seem to focus on the visual design of the report rather than fetching the data. I have already taken care of the visual aspect of the report using MVC with html templates. I am sure this is a very fundamental problem with known solution, but I am somehow not able to find it (maybe searching with wrong keyword). Edit1: Modified the title to make it more relevant Edit2: The accepted answer got me thinking in the right direction and identify my design flaws, which eventually led me to find this question and the solution in Stack Overflow which gave me the detailed answer to clear the confusion.

  • mysql thread count

    We have a web application that uses apache and mysql. Generally (according to Munin) our MySQL thread count sits between 2 and 4 at all times. The other day, our server almost came to a halt. HTTP requests were slow or wouldn't go through at all, SSH would work, but would take 30+ seconds to register keystrokes, etc.. So we pull up Munin and the only thing that's out of normal boundaries is the Mysql thread count. CPU usage was under 1%, load was under 1.0, plenty of available RAM. As mentioned before, the thread count floats around 2 to 4. At the time of our slow downs it had spiked to 14. So I start poking around the Internet and I see that in most cases, you'll start to see a higher thread count when you start running into slow queries. If I understand it correctly, the request comes in that takes a while to process, in the mean time other requests are coming in, so a new thread will be created to work on the request (yes?). But at the time of the slow down, we had 0 slow queries. My question is: What else can cause mysql to create additional threads. And would this sudden spike in threads possibly cause the server to slow down? To fix the issue, we restarted apache and everything went back to it's beautiful, normal self. Considering the the Server Vitals (CPU, RAM, Network, etc) were all ideal, and the thread count was the only thing out of place, this seems like the most logical thing to pursue as the possible cause. If it matters, we're on Mysql 5.1.40. Server is FreeBSD 7.2 and the server in question is inside a jail.

  • Error running phusion passenger in standalone mode

    I'm trying to run standalone phusion passenger so that I can run different ruby rvm configurations on the same host. I already have ruby and passenger running fine on this host. I am following the instructions here. When I run standalone passenger the first time, it appears to successfully install nginx.     I have dell inspiron, previously I installed Ubuntu 11.10 on my Windows 7 and made it dual boot. But since I want to upgrade my Ubuntu version and change the partition spacing, I deleted 11.10 partition directly and extended my hardrive space (Windows + Ubuntu) at that moment everything was fine. Then I prepared a 12.04 32bit USB and installed it . It was installed but isn't showing dual boot option like 11.10 and my machine directly boot into Windows 7. So instantly i again deleted my 12.04 partition . Now I login into Windows 7 but whenever I put USB ( with 12.04 ) to boot from it, I am facing error of "no such partition grub rescue" even though I try to put lower version(11.04) it showing another error "Error: No default or UI configuration directive found boot " I have reinstall Windows 7 and reformat all partition, still I am facing same error :(

  • Another VSeWSS Error Resolved (List Template not installed on Farm)

    Ran into a minor snag today trying to deploy a project with VSeWSS 1.3 - during the deployment it gave me the following error: Error    32    VSeWSS Service Error: Feature '2ade6552-200e-4425-8af5-f1f50c115b7e' for list template '10001' is not installed in this farm.  The operation could not be completed. At first glance, it looked my features were not installing in the correct order because the solution was installing a list that required a custom list definition before the custom list definition was being installed.  After switching the order in the WSP view (View -> Other Windows -> WSP View) -- you can use the up and down arrows on the view pane to switch feature installation order - I had the same error. I decided to try deleting the list, but upon visiting the list in the web interface I received a similar error about how the feature was not installed on the farm.  As such, I could not delete the list through the web interface.  Fortunately, the stsadm.exe tool worked just fine: stsadm.exe -o forcedeletelist -url <urltolisthere>
