• How to install Eclipse in Ubuntu 12.04?

  I downloaded the Eclipse setup from their homepage. And I followed the instructions on this page. But I couldn't able to follow the last instruction, which ask me to do so : /opt/eclipse/eclipse -clean If do so, I get an error message like this : sudo: /opt/eclipse/eclipse: command not found But notably I can see the Eclipse Icon on my Dash Home (if I search for "Eclipse"). But clicking on that icon doesn't open the IDE. Where I'm making the mistake? And also running this command in terminal : eclipse throws this output: /usr/bin/eclipse: 5: /usr/bin/eclipse: /opt/eclipse/eclipse: Permission denied Thanks in advance.

• problem installing mysql on ubuntu server 10.10 machine

  Hi, I tried installing mysql a couple of times and I'm having problems. First of all, when I install it gives me a message that it's setting up and it just hangs. • Static background noise while using new headset Ubuntu 13.04

  Today I bought a new gaming headset (Gx-Gaming Lychas), and when I tried to record some gameplay-comentary I noticed that there always is a static background noise, I just recorded an example so you • Cannot SSH to ubuntu server - openssh server owner changed

  I am using suPHP with Apache for virtual hosting but somewhere down the line my root ssh access is getting screwed up. I haven't been able to figure out why it is happening but eventually, my root user is not able to ssh to the server. After some debugging, I was able to narrow it down to a few things. For some reason the sshd daemon is running as root:www-data (apache user) instead of root. My ftp connection works but ssh over terminal fails. I have no idea whether it is getting caused due to suPHP or not (because that is the only place where user permission's etc. change). • Rhythmbox 2.99.1 crashes when playing any song on Ubuntu 13.10

  Yesterday rhythmbox was running smoothly but today it crashes only a few seconds after I hit the play button, regardless of track. I've tried disabling plugins, re-installing rhythmbox via synaptics, clearing the library and the rhythmdb.xml-file and just adding one album. Still, it crashes. If I run the rhythmbox from the command line i get the following before I have to force quit: :~$ rhythmbox Failed to create secure directory (/run/user/1000/pulse): Permission denied Killed :~$ However, if i run rhythmbox via the command line as superuser it does work. • MySQL Workbench on Ubuntu 12.04 doesn't starts after latest (Jun12) updates

  MySQL workbench was working fine till today. I installed the regular updates and now its just doesnt starts. When started its just shows the 'opening screen' and nothing happens. I tried re-installing it from synaptic but no luck. I use it all the time and now suffering a lot. Any help will be appreciated. I looked at comment giving a possible resolution here , but that didn't help, as I already have those packages installed. Basically to install AdobeAIR, being a 32-bit, I had to install various i386 packages: libgtk2.0-0:i386 libnss3-1d:i386 libnspr4-0d:i386 lib32nss-mdns libxml2:i386 libxslt1.1:i386 When I run the program as root, it opens up properly without errors. But that is not an option. Could it be a problem that necessary modules are not getting loaded on non-root user's environment.

• Ubuntu Server 11.04 installs fine then gets stuck on USBHID

  ites! I have installed Server 11.04 many many times from this disc and they have always worked perfectly (installed and operated fine). I wanted to reinstall my server again on the same hardware so I threw the disc in and installed but once it finished installing the boot loader and ejected the disc, it decided to go unresponsive. I restarted it and it loaded in through the grub perfectly it seemed, but then it goes and says either that a ipv6 router is unavailable (even though I have it hardwired to my network) or it goes and says usbhid: USB HID core driver and goes unresponsive there. I am very confused as this never happened before from this install. I want to see if this is just me or what before I just go ahead and download the newest version of server. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

• Ubuntu 12.10 is reading mouse battery as a laptop battery

  I have a bluetooth mouse connected to my laptop. Much to my delight (I posted the suggestion!) the mouses battery is now displayed along side the laptop's battery. Unfortunately is is named simply "battery" in the drop down and "Laptop battery" once the power statistics windows is opened. The details of this battery correctly say that the model is a Lenovo Bluetooth Mouse, but it is still displayed as a "battery" and "laptop battery". Is there anyway to change this? Edit: Plus the "Show time in menu bar" shows the mouse's remaining battery percentage as opposed to the laptop battery's remaining time.
