  • Classic asp paging and session state

    Hi, Working on a classic asp page that uses paging. The error I am having a problem with is this: Lets say that you have 5 pages returned in your record set and you are on page 2. You leave and come back, you then press the link for page 3, the trouble is your session has timed out. I don't know why this happens but the page is reloaded, but the session check is bypassed and of course when the page attempts to retrieve the record set the session variables are now empty so I am getting a message stating: error near ',' line 1, because now the query is defunct. How do I get around this? Thanks, Ron.

  • FileSystemWatcher surpassing Active Directory restrictions

    While experimenting with FileSystemWatcher, I've found out that it somehow surpasses Active Directory's restrictions to files and folders, and will raise change events with information about what has changed in files and folders that you don't even have access to. I have two questions about that: 1) Why does this happen ? 2) Is this a problem in the AD configuration ? how do I fix it ? 3) Is there any way to gather these files, or even create a FileSystemInfo of them to get more info about the files (not only the changes made on them) ? As far as I've tried, only the FileSystemWatcher immune to the restrictions, I can't run any other thing over it, here's a list of what I've tried: File.Exists Directory.Exists FileInfo instance on found files DirectoryInfo instance on found files File.Copy File.Delete

  • Why are some C#4 features allowed even when targeting 3.5?

    We upgraded to VS 2010, but we haven't yet upgraded to .NET 4.0. All of our projects are still explicitly targeting 3.5. Today, a developer checked in code that looked like this: delegate T Generator<out T>(); As far as I know, "in T" and "out T" are C# 4.0 features. According to our build server, which doesn't have .NET 4.0 installed on it, I'm right. The check-in broke the build. But, why the heck does it build on his machine? Why is VS just ignoring the target framework for the project? Other C# 4.0 features, like the dynamic keyword, do not build on the developer's machine.

    I have defined two properties "Name" and "ID" for an object which I use for the DisplayMember and ValueMember of a ComboBox with a BindingList datasource. I recently installed Resharper to evaluate it. Resharper is giving me warnings on the object that the two properties are unused.   • Suppress errors of files that are not set to be built from the "Error List" window

    I have some cs files in my project that are not set to be built (Properties - Build Action = None). They contain bits of code that don't compile as a whole and are there merely for reference. I don't care about any compilation errors in them, but they appear in the "Error List" window, cluttering it. Is there some way to tell VS to ignore errors in that file? Or in all files not set to be built, at that ? I'm using VS 2010 Thanks

    Hello friends, I am using following setting for customError. < customErrors mode="On" defaultRedirect="GenericErrorPage.aspx" < error statusCode="403" redirect="NoAccess.aspx" / < error statusCode="404" redirect="FileNotFound.aspx" / < /customErrors I have a folder "Admin" having access to administrators role. When someone other than administrators tries to access the pages inside admin folder, it is redirected to login page. My expectation is to display "NoAccess.aspx". Whats wrong with this code? Or is there other meaning to statusCode=403. Could someone provide help on this. Thanks for sharing your valuable time.

  • Different versions in manifest on different machines

    Hi guys, Have two machines, both with VS2005 SP1 installed and with the WinSXS showing the same things installed. When one machine builds a particular C++ .dll .vcproj it ends up with <assemblyIdentity type='win32' name='Microsoft.VC80.MFC' version='8.0.50727.762' processorArchitecture='x86' publicKeyToken='1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b' /> in its manifest file. But on the other machine it ends up with <assemblyIdentity type='win32' name='Microsoft.VC80.MFC' version='8.0.50608.0 processorArchitecture='x86' publicKeyToken='1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b' /> even though this machine does not have '8.0.50608.0' libraries listed in its WinSXS. The .dll built on this machine with the older version referenced has some problems. I have ensured both machines have the same latest source code and references etc.. What could be causing it to build with the different reference? Thanks! Terry

  • Cannot perform an ORDERBY against my EF4 data

    I have a query hitting EF4 using STEs and I'm having an issue with user-defined sorting. In debugging this, I have removed the dynamic sorting and am hard-coding it and I still have the issue. If I swap/uncomment the var results = xxx lines in GetMyBusinesses(), my results are not sorted any differently - they are always sorting it ascendingly.     I have an app that has a console menu with 2/3 selections. One process involves uploading a file and performing a lengthy search process on its contents, whilst another process involves SQL queries and is an interactive process with the user. I wish to use threads to allow one process to run and the menu to offer the option for the second process to run. However you cannot run the first process twice. I have created threads and corrected some compilation errors but the threading options are not working correctly. Any help appreciated. main...   • first major web app

    I have created a web app version of my previous crawler app and the initial form has controls to allow the client to make selections and start a search 'job'. These searches 'jobs' will be run my different threads created individually and added to a list to keep track of. Now the idea is to have another web form that will display this list of 'jobs' and their current status and will allow the jobs to be cancelled or removed only from the server side. This second form contains a grid to display these jobs. Now I have no idea if I should create the threads in the initial form code or send all user input to my main class which runs the search and if so how do I pass the the thread list to the second form to have it displayed on the grid. Any ideas really appreciated.   • VSS Deprecated Files

    We are using VSS for version control (changing to another version control system is not an option right now), and are occassionally running into issues where a file has been completely deprecated with its functionality split into other new files. For historical archival reasons we need to keep those files in the version control sytem. Is there some way to clearly mark them as deprecated and no longer used?
