Hi :)
I have a Cable Internet (Assigned IP etc) to connect to internet and I want to connect another computer to same line of cable as well. Both in Same room. Any suggestion, affordable solution please?
My home server is running Windows Server 2008 R2. I've had it running for almost a year now without any issues with shared folders. This past week I had an issue with my modem which required it to be power cycled and with that I power cycled my router. After that I haven't been able to connect to my shared network folders. I have no idea why that would even cause an issue as I've power cycled my networking equipment in the past without issues and none of my settings appear to have been lost.
I am mapping these drives on my Windows 7 Ultimate machine using "Map Network Drive", from there I enter \\SERVER\Storage as I'm trying to connect to my shared folder named Storage.
I receive the following error every time I try mapping the drive:
Windows cannot access \\Server\Storage
Check the spelling of the name. Otherwise there might be a problem
with your network. To try to identify and resolve network problems,
click Diagnose.
Details: Error code: 0x80070035 The network path was not found.
When I click Diagnose I get the following:
Problems found
file and print sharing resource (SERVER) is online but isn't
responding to connection attempts.
The remote computer isn't responding to connection on port 445,
possibly due to firewall or security policy settings, or because it
might be temporarily unavailable. Windows couldn't find any problems
with the firewall on your computer.
I've tried this from multiple computers with the same issue too.
To resolve the problems so far I've tried:
Disabling the firewall on SERVER
Reinstalling File Services
Modifying NetBT\Parameters registry values
Adding a custom inbound rule for port 445
Adding port forwarding on my router for port 445
Recreating the shared folders
Checking and rechecking the shared folder permissions.
Resetting my user account password on the server used to access the shared folder.
I'm pulling my hair out with this problem mainly because it came out of nowhere. It was working fine the night before and the next day it just stopped working. Any ideas of what I could try next are much appreciated.
It should also be noted that this server is used as a web server too and that functionality still works correctly.
Is there a way to export my facebook contacts as vcards (or "Address Book Archive" ...) so I can use them in my Address Book on my computer (I am using iCal)?
I want to know the difference between Port and Connector in Computer (the physical ones),and how can i tell that this thing is a port or connector ?
I know that both terms are used for the same purpose but Doctor in college asked us to show the difference between them, and i have searched for it but people just say that there is no difference.
According to Wikipedia also Port and Connector are almost the same.
I love using Google Picasa, but I'm frustrated by its inability to share information such as albums and starred photos between different computers on a network, much less different users on the same computer.
What are some alternatives to Picasa that don't have this drawback?
I'm setting up a new D-Link N300 router, and trying to connect a MacBook Pro and a MacBook, both running OS X 10.6.
As the question says, either computer can connect to the internet when connected to the router via Ethernet. And either one can get on the router's wireless network. But when connected wirelessly (without the Ethernet cable plugged in), neither one can get online.
I can't figure out why that would be. Any help appreciated.
i just bought a new hp amd II athlon quad core and everytime i try to move file off my desktop to a hard drive or off my hard drive to my desktop of atleast a 1g or more my computer restarts itself and gives me the blue screen of death can someone please tell me why
While establishing mirroring without witness at last step i am getting an error:
One or more of the server network addresses lacks a fully qualified domain name (FDQN). To start mirroring without using a FQDN, click "yes". To specify the FDQN, click "no". Then specify every TCP address by using the syntax for a fully qualified TCP address, and click Start mirroring again.
TCP/IP are in enabled mode in Computer management.
How to rectifity this error?
On my Ubuntu 10.04 Server guest VM running from VMware fusion, the VMware tools doesn't seem to be running after a reboot or my computer comes back from stand-by or sleep(when I close my MacBook lid):
$ /etc/init.d/vmware-tools status
vmware-guestd is not running
I did try running it as a service but the tools would still not run after coming back from stand by:
sudo service vmware-tools start
Any ideas what I should do to make the tools run all the time? My Ubuntu Server can only be accessed from the CLI, I won't be able to try any GUI solution.
My computer is already connected to a 100Mbps LAN.
I can use wvdial to connect to internet using a modem when I have my LAN disconnected.
Now, I want to share this modem
internet to one of the ip address
available on LAN say 10.100.99.56..
First of all, can it be done?
How do I go about doing that?
I just installed Windows Vista on a laptop computer.
I was wondering if you could recommend any essential software to be installed on the system (i.e. anti-virus, anti-spyware, etc...)
Thanks
I would like to install 2 completely independent instances of Windows XP (no data should be shared) in my computer within 2 different primary partitions.
I know that grub can handle booting them correctly, but I have no idea if it's possible to install it and configure it within a 100% NTFS system and without any extra linux partition/distribution.
I have 2 PCs and a router and I want to connect my HP 2575 to this network.
So, I found a network cable and I connected the printer to the router. I access the router and I can see that the printer is connected.
My question is: How can I use the printer, from one of my computer. I tried Add Printer feature, but with no luck.
Any ideas?

Hi, I would like to mount a remote file system (A) using SSHFS, but sometimes I have IP address, access from which is not allowed. So my plan is to access it via another machine (B) in that network. Do I need to mount A on B and then to mount B (and A) on my local computer? Is there a better way to do it?
I would like to find a way to open a url without using a web browser making my computer system runs very slow. Is there an easy way to achieve this on a command prompt using ssh to access another network? Thanks in advance!
Hello Everyone!,
My setup is I have a windows 7 computer acting as a file server. All my computers can connect to it fine including my mac. The problem is that randomly the mac will get kicked off the file share (even when i am in the middle of using it) and will not be allowed to reconnect to it until i reboot the windows 7 machine. (Rebooting the mac doesn't help)
Does anyone know what could be causing this to happen?
I have this weird issue. When I put the computer to sleep by pressing the power button, or using the sleep option in Charms, I can wake it up normally. However, if I close the lid, and later reopen it, all the fans come on, but nothing appears on the screen.
I didn't have this issue using Windows 7.
Here are my system specs:
HP G60-235DX Notebook PC
Intel Pentium Dual Core T4200 at 2.00Ghz
3 GBS of RAM
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD with 1309MB of video memory
Windows 8 Pro 64 bit
I prefer the audio output on my computer to use the standard audio jack output due to volume issues. But I am using a monitor with HDMI. I have chosen to set the default audio device to be "Speakers"
But every time I reboot the default audio device is the HDMI Output again.
I am running Windows 7 64bit. Why does it not remember the default device? (I do shutdown and boot up properly without errors.)
I need to connect a printer with a parallel port to a computer with only a USB 2.0 bus.
I'd like to do so without lowering the USB 2.0 bus speed to USB 1.1.
All the USB-to-Parallel adapter cable found so far seem to be rated as USB 1.1 and they come with a CD which presumably contains a necessary driver.
I haven't purchased one and tested it out yet, but if so, would the cable's driver lower speed of USB 2.0 bus?
Hello,
I have a computer behind router with IP 192.168.0.166.
I would like to know if it possible to mask real WAN IP to it.
So in the end it would be visible as WAN IP but actually not.
My Win 7 computer locked up, so I shut it down (holding down the power button till it shut off).
Logging back on, I got an error message that it couldn't load my profile (like I'm entering the wrong password).
I logged on the guest account, but can't change anything because it won't accept my password.
Is this a serious problem or do I just need to reset the password with one of the options available on your site?
Anybody know of a program that can detect if you're viewing a video, and if you are, prevent the current power plan from turning off the monitor and/or putting the computer to sleep?
(For Windows 7, or one for Vista might also work.)
Thanks.
Hi,
I am a looking for a free software that can run on the task bar (near the system time) where I can store frequently used text like my full street address, paths of specific deep folders & files in the computer etc etc. This way I can just click the icon which should popup a screen where I should be able to copy the text/string I am looking for
Any ideas? thanks in advance
