• How to log into a salesforce.com sandbox?

  I took over a Rails app and am trying to get the Salesforce.com API credentials set up for my user account. I'm set as a system admin with "Developer Mode" on (though I have no clue what that does, I just saw it set on the previous account.) We have a sandbox. I click the login link on it, enter my sandbox username ([email protected]), enter my password, and get "Login attempt has failed". I know my password is okay since I've logged into the production site several times. Using different domains (test.salesforce.com, etc) doesn't help either.

• Capture Silverlight 4 event when panel clicked

  I have a small Silverlight 4 app that essentially consists of a grid containing a label and a combo box. When I click the label, I replace it with a second text box so that I can edit the label (much the way you can edit the name of a Silverlight control in VS2010). I have a LostFocus event handler on the text box that will end editing when the control loses focus (restoring the updated label). Trouble is, users tend to click on the panel when they are done editing rather than on another control (or hitting Enter, which is also supported). I tried adding a left mouse down event handler to the panel. However, that only fires when the text box does not have the focus (I guess the text box captured the mouse?) Is there an approach to recognize that a non-input control was clicked that would enable me to terminate edit mode?

• http sniffer not working in a LAN setting

  Hi , I wrote a http sniffer program , first ran it in my standalone pc < fedora OS , and it worked well. And when i tried this in a LAN setting < bus-LAN , fedora OS again , and set the eth0 to promisc mode , the program captures only the URLs browsed by the system in which it is running , but not the ones browsed in neighbouring systems.. Am i missing something here.. i've heard people talk about " setting up subnets " , " use routers / additional ethernet cards " etc , but i dont really understand / know how to do / or even if i should be doing anything of that sort.. please help ..

• Compile 32bit mercurial on x86_64

  I'm using the academic version of EPD (Enthought Python Distribution) which is 32bit. My computer is Linux x86_64. platform.architecture() returns ('32bit','ELF') I want to install Mercurial. The instructions in README didn't work at first, because make gave this error: "LONG_BIT definition appears wrong for platform (bad gcc/glibc config?)." I commented out that line in pyport.h and then it compiled fine. Now, after successful compilation I get this error when running it: ImportError: /scratch/epd/lib/python2.6/site-packages/mercurial/osutil.so: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64 It appears that I compiled a 64bit version of hg, and it won't run with my 32bit python. I don't see any arch flags in the mercurial makefile. How can I force it to compile in 32bit mode?

  I am working on a simple .Net 4.0 webservice. I created one method, which accepts a string input. I run the project in Debug mode so a page opens in my browser where I can enter an input and invoke the method of the service. • Issue Passing NSMutableDictionary to Method

  Hello all, I'm trying some basic iPhone programming -- all has been going well but recently I've hit a bit of a roadblock. I've got a chunk of code that's passing an NSMutableDictionary (amongst other things) to a method in another class: [self.shuttle makeAPICallAndReturnResultsUsingMode:@"login" module:@"login" query:credentials]; The NSMutableArray credentials is previously defined a bit above as such: NSMutableDictionary *credentials = [[NSMutableDictionary alloc] init]; [credentials setObject:username forKey:@"username"]; [credentials setObject:password forKey:@"password"]; The method that receives it looks like such: -(id)makeAPICallAndReturnResultsUsingMode:(NSString *)mode module:(NSString *)module query:(NSMutableDictionary *)query From debugging I have determined that the code works fine up until this point within the above method: [query setObject:self.sessionID forKey:@"session_id"]; At this point, the application terminates -- the Console informs me of this exception: * Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '* -[NSCFDictionary setObject:forKey:]: method sent to an uninitialized mutable dictionary object' This leads me to believe that I must initialize NSMutableDictionary in some way in my new method before I can access it, but I have no idea how. Any advice?

  I'm using mostly GCC to develop my library, but I'd like to ensure cross-compiler compatibility and especially standard conformance as much as possible. For this, I have add several -W... flags to command line. I'd also add -pedantic, but I have a problem with its warning about long long type. The latter is important for my library and is properly guarded with #if code, i.e. is not compiled on compilers that don't know it anyway. In short: can I have GCC in -pedantic mode warn about any extension except long long?

• CustomErrors section does not handle 404 properly on production server

  Hi, I'd like my ASP.NET MVC application to redirect failed requests to matching action methods of a certain controller. This works fine on my development machine running Windows 7, but not on my production machine running Windows 2008 R2. I set up my web.config as follows: <customErrors mode="On" defaultRedirect="/Error/ServerError/500"> <error statusCode="403" redirect="/Error/AccessDenied" /> <error statusCode="404" redirect="/Error/FileNotFound" /> </customErrors> This customErrors section works fine on both of my machines (production and development) for 500 Internal Server errors. It also works fine for 404 errors on my development machine. However, it does not properly redirect 404 errors on the production machine. Instead of /Error/FileNotFound, I get the standard 404 page that comes with IIS 7. What could be the problem here?

• what is the global.asax Application_Start equivalent when using WAS in IIS7

  Hi I'd like to use the netTcpBinding for my WCF application which is currently hosted in IIS7, which means configuring it to use WAS instead. This is fairly straight forward however, my application previously made use of the Application_Start event in the global.asax file. I do not require access to the httpContext(which I understand access has been removed in IIS7), however I would still like to hook into the start or init methods? Does an equivalent exist when hosting an application in WAS as apposed to IIS7? Using classic mode is not an option(again I'm not interested in the httpcontext and this only appears to work if using an http binding) - and I've seen an example of putting a static class instide the app_code folder which looks like a horrible hack.

• Push notification not working for the production environment

  I have spent a whole day on this already but still didn't go anywhere. When I run my app in the development mode, I can get the push messages I send to myself thru PushMeBaby without a problem. However, when I try to test it in the production environment, I cannot get any push. I re-generated all the certificates and provisioning profiles, used the aps_production_identity.cer as the certificate for push, changed the ssl to gateway.push.apple.com, and did a release build for the app, but still couldn't get it to work. I found that in PushMeBaby, the line result = SSLHandshake(context); returns error -9844. Does it mean that something is wrong with the aps_production_identity.cer file? This is driving me nuts, can somebody offer a little help? Much appreciated!!!

• Design view disappeared from Interface Builder

  All of a sudden, the visual design window disappeared from my Interface Builder. It is a regular UIView, has some UIImageView, UILabel, and UIButtons on it. When I open IB, I can see the document window (with File's Owner, First Responder and View in it), Library and Inspector, but the visual design window disappeared. Double click on "View" in the document window doesn't do anything. If I go to List mode, I can see all the components on the view, but just can no longer find the visual design window. All other XIB can open just fine, only this XIB lost its design window. First I thought maybe it was hidden somewhere on the screen. Tried all kinds of things, even rebooting the computer, but nothing helped. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance! By the way, I'm running SDK 3.2 Beta 3.

  Hi, I'm trying to draw an image in an ImageView, but i want it to be unscaled, with scrollbars as necessary. How can I accomplish this? Right now I just have a drawable set as the android:src of the ImageView in the XML. This autoscales the image to fit the screen width. I read that this might be because of the compatibility mode (developing for 1.5, testing on 2.1), but then I added <uses-sdk android:minSdkVersion="3" android:targetSdkVersion="4" /> to my manifest, and nothing changed. Any clues?

• Makecert problem under Windows 7

  I'm creating a certificate to use with an SslStream, and I've been doing it this way under XP: makecert -r -pe -n "CN=aName" -ss my -sr localmachine -sky exchange -sp "Microsoft RSA SChannel Cryptographic Provider" -sy 12 server.cer If I understand this correctly, this creates a certificate in server.cer, and creates a private key for it in my personal certificate store. Once I have done this, I can create a certificate object like this: X509Certificate.CreateFromCertFile(certFile); I then use it with the SSLStream, and everything works fine. Now that I have switched to Windows 7, the private key seems to be disappearing every time I restart the machine. I run a command prompt as Administrator, and execute the same makecert command shown above. This succeeds and the SSL connection works correctly. If I restart the machine, the call to AuthenticateAsServer fails with the exception "The server mode SSL must use a certificate with the associated private key." Why is the private key disappearing? What do I need to do to make it stick around?

• Installing unsigned x64 driver to work with libusbdotnet

  Hi all- I am currently in a Windows 7 dev. environment working to get a device to initialize with libusbdotnet. The device (a USB mass storage device) connects and runs using the default USB-MASS Storage driver for Windows. I want to replace this driver with the one created by the .INF Wizard in libusbdotnet. The operating system is a 64-bit, and by default the INF Wizard produces this driver, but I am unable to selected it because it is "unsigned" I believed, when I go to "Pick from a list of drivers" and point to the directory where the newly created device drivers are. I have enabled "TEST MODE" using DESO but I'm still unable to select this file. Anyone familiar with libusbdotnet, or directing devices to work with a specific driver that is unsigned in Window (do I need the .inf file? or the .sys???) do you have any advice about where I'm going wrong?   Hi all I figured out that CUDA does not work in 64bit mode on my mac (or couldn't get it running so far). Therefore I decided to compile everything for 32bit. I use cmake 2.8 and added the following options add_definitions(-Wall -m32) set(CUDA_64_BIT_DEVICE_CODE OFF) set(CMAKE_MODULE_LINKER_FLAGS -m32) However when it tries to link it it does something like this: /usr/bin/c++ -mmacosx-version-min=10.6 -Wl,-search_paths_first -headerpad_max_install_names CMakeFiles/SimpleTestsCUDA.dir/BlockMatrix.cpp.o CMakeFiles/SimpleTestsCUDA.dir/Matrix.cpp.o ./SimpleTestsCUDA_generated_SimpleTests.cu.o ./SimpleTestsCUDA_generated_BlockMatrix.cu.o -o SimpleTestsCUDA /usr/local/cuda/lib/libcudart.dylib /usr/local/cuda/lib/libcuda.dylib Which fails with a lot of "file is not of required architecture" warnings from ld. Now if I add manually -m32 to the command above it works. However I have no idea how to teach cmake to add -m32 to every gcc (or ld) invocation. So far it does it for nvcc and gcc, but not for linking..

• Programatically Create Controller in Rails

  What's the best way to dynamically create a controller in Rails. I've got a class that needs to generate a bunch of controller that inherit from it. I could just create a bunch of files in /app/controllers, but they'd all be basically empty files. There's got to be a way to generate these classes dynamically and have them treated like other controllers in Rails, e.g. reloaded correctly in dev mode. I tried putting this in a config/initializer: FL.contact_types.each do |contact_type| controller_name = "#{contact_type.pluralize}Controller" Object.const_set(controller_name.to_sym, Class.new(ContactsController)) unless Object.const_defined?(controller_name.to_sym) end This worked, but I run into the dependency/reload problem and get “A copy of AuthenticatedSystem has been removed from the module tree but is still active” since the ContactsController inherits from ApplicationController which includes AuthenticatedSystem. Is creating a bunch of empty files really the best solution?

But after I have selected an item in the combobox, then suddenly setting ComponentFieldSelectedIndex does work. for example: start app. click button that sets ComponentFieldSelectedIndex to 1. selected item doesn't change to item2. select item3 in combo box. click button that sets ComponentFieldSelectedIndex to 1. selected item does change to item2. Does anyone have an idea what could be causing this?

  I working for some numbers of years in an medium size ecomerce company where we developing and maintaining large distributed ecomerce system that is a core of company business. I thinking to switch job and one of the offers is in consulting company, the model of work there is different you suppose to work for couple of months at different clients of this company developing different project, this mode of working is very different for me and I don't sure if I will like it. From the positive side I will get experience in a lot of different projects in very different problem domains and with a lot of different technologies. From the negative side, I will always be an outsider in all this companies, placed in some far away corner I probably will have little emotional connection to projects I suppose to work on. Do you have some personal experience working in both of this types of companies that you could share ?

  1.) I have a main method Processing, which takes string as an arguments and that string contains some x number of tasks. 2.) I have another method Status, which keeps track of first method by using two variables TotalTests and CurrentTest. which will be modified every time with in a loop in first method(Processing). 3.) When more than one client makes a call parallely to my web service to call the Processing method by passing a string, which has different tasks will take more time to process. so in the mean while clients will be using a second thread to call the Status method in the webservice to get the status of the first method. 4.) when point number 3 is being done all the clients are supposed to get the variables(TotalTests,CurrentTest) parallely with out being mixed up with other client requests. 5.) The code that i have provided below is getting mixed up variables results for all the clients when i make them as static. If i remove static for the variables then clients are just getting all 0's for these 2 variables and i am unable to fix it. Please take a look at the below code. • Rails: blank page - no errors or stack trace

  I've been trying to fix a bug in the Rails app I'm developing, and I keep getting a blank screen with no errors. I haven't found anything helpful in development.log, either (though it does show queries being run and such). Finally, I started to wonder if it's somehow set not to show errors anymore. I tried commenting out a necessary route, and sure enough, I got a blank page instead of the error and stack trace I expected. What might cause this? (I wondered if maybe I'm accidentally running production mode and errors aren't supposed to show then, but development.log is being appended, and if I open script/console and echo ENV['RAILS_ENV'], it says development.)
