  I am using rails 3.0.0.beta3 and I am trying to implement form with nested attributes using :accepts_nested_attributes_for. My form is nested to three levels: Survey Question Answer. Survey has_many Questions, and Question has many Answers. Inside the Survey model, there is :accepts_nested_attributes_for :questions and inside the question mode, there is :accepts_nested_attributes_for :answers Everything is working fine except when I add a new answer to an existing question, it doesn't get created. However, if I make changes to the corresponding question while creating the answer, I can successfully create the answer. This example is exactly similar to a railscast: http://railscasts.com/episodes/197-nested-model-form-part-2 but doesn't work in rails3 (at least in my case). Please let me know if there is any issue with nested attributes in Rails 3. Thanks in advance.

  I've got some drivers which are basically LibUSB-Win32 with a new .inf file do describe product/vendor ids and strings which describe my hardware. This works fine for 32 bit windows, but 64 bit versions have problems; namely that Microsoft in their wisdom require all drivers to be digitally signed. So my questions are thus: Is there a version of the LibUSB-Win32 drivers which are already signed I could use? If there aren't already some signed ones I can canibalise, what exactly do I have to do to get my drivers signed. Do I need to get 64 and 32 bit versions signed separately and will this cost more? Is this a free alternative to getting them signed? Are there any other options I should consider besides requiring that my customers boot into test mode each time they start their machines (not an option I'd consider).

• Finding the order of method calls in Eclipse

  Suppose I have a big program that consists of hundreds of methods in it. And according to the nature of input the program flow is getting changed. Think I want to make a change to the original flow. And it is big hassle to find call hierarchy/ references and understand the flow. Do I have any solution for this within Eclipse? Or a plugin? As an example, I just need a Log of method names that is in order of time. Then I don't need to worry about the methods that are not relevant with my "given input" Update : Using debug mode in eclipse or adding print messages are not feasible. The program is sooooo big. :)

• Filesystem synchronization library?

  Hi, I've got 10 GB of files to back up daily to another site. The client is way out in the country so bandwidth is an issue. Does anyone know of any existing software or libraries out there that help with keeping a folder with its files synchronized across a slow link, that is it only sends files across if they have changed? Some kind of hash checking would be nice, too, to at least confirm the two sides are the same. I don't mind paying some money for it, seeing as how it might take me several weeks to a month to implement something decent on my own. I just don't want to re-invent the wheel, here. BTW it is a windows shop (they have an in house windows IT guy) so windows is preferred. I also have 10 GB of SQL Server 2000 databases to go across. Is the SQL server replication mode reliable?   Tableau is extremely flexible when it comes to visualizing and playing around with datasets, but it is extremely slow when you go into "production mode" and publish a particular view that you've created onto your server. Does anyone know of any tools that can be used to connect to a database, present interactive (or somewhat interactive) dashboards, and perform reasonably well when published to a server? I am also writing the LogWriter module. In this caase i am mapping the whole file to the memory using mmap(). I am maintaining the Read and Write pointers.I want to write the log to the file in append mode. Then when logger service is started first time it writes it appends the logs. But when system gets shutdown next time when i run the service it doesn't append the data at the end. I want to maintain the write and read offsets even if system shut down.How to achieve this ..? How to find the how much data is written to the log file. ??

In the DataGrid's AutoGeneratingColumn event I have some code that looks like this: if (e.Property.Name.Contains("MetaData")) { var descCol = new DataGridTextColumn(e.Property); var bnd = new Binding("Description"); bnd.Mode = BindingMode.TwoWay; descCol.Binding = bnd; e.Column = descCol; e.Column.Header = "Description"; return; } The column binds to a type MetaData which has a string property named Description that I would like displayed in my DataGrid. So far I've been unable to get the value of the Description property to display in my DataGrid. I think the path I am passing into the Binding constructor might be incorrect. I've tried "MetaData.Description" as well and it doesn't work either. Can anyone help me properly set up the binding on my DataGridTextColumn?

• PDB file from different versions of Visual Studio

  I have an old DLL file which was built with VC++ 6. Now I need to investigate the dump file but I don't have its PDB available. The stacktrace reported by WinDbg is also inaccurate. Is it possible to rebuild the project with later versions of Visual Studio i.e. 2003, 2005, 2008, have the PDB generated, and use this to map addresses to symbols in the old DLL? Is there something like VC 6.0 compatible mode for building project? Obtaining VC++ 6 is one option, but it looks like VS6.0 has already vanished from MSDN subscriber download page :( Thanks!

• Bitbanging a PIO on Coldfire/ucLinux

  Here's the problem: I need to program some hardware via 2 pins of the PIO (1 clock, 1 data). Timing constraints are tight - 10ms clock cycle time. All this, of course, whilst I maintain very high level services (CAN bus, TCP/IP). The downstream unit also ACKS by asserting a PIO pin, configured as an input, high. So this loop has to both read and write. I need to send 16 bits in the serial stream. Is there an established way to do this sort of thing or should I simply get the hardware guys to add a PIC or somesuch. I'd much prefer to avoid exotics like RTAI extensions at this stage. I did once see a reference to user-mode IO which implied a possible interrupt driven driver but lost track of it. Any pointers welcomed.

What are the requirements? java + cygwin + sshd ? Anything else? HDFS, does it play nice on windows? I'd like to use hadoop in streaming mode.   Hi , i have the following in my .emacs file(thanks to a SOer nikwin), which evaluates the current buffer content and displays the output in another buffer. (defun shell-compile () (interactive) (save-buffer) (shell-command (concat "python " (buffer-file-name)))) (add-hook 'python-mode-hook (lambda () (local-set-key (kbd "\C-c\C-c") 'shell-compile))) The problem is that the output window takes half the emacs screen. Is there any way to set the output windows's height to something smaller. I googled for 30mins or so and could not find anything that worked. Thanks in advance.

• Use trackball for scrolling in Android ListView

  hi, i have a ListView, whose content should not be selectable. i set the ListView to choiceMode="none" and set a transparent listSelector. for touch mode it acts as desired. a problem is the use of the trackball. if i try to use it for scrolling, the scroll starts after the 10th push to "down". this is caused by the invisible listSelector, which scrolls down the list until the 10th list item is "invisibily" selected. i try to override dispatchTrackballEvent and do the scrolling with scrollBy, but i did not finished this approach yet, to have a look on alternative suggestions. is there a simple solution for my problem?

• ASP.NET ReportViewer Control Fonts to Century Gothic

  We are using ASP.NET ReportViewer Control to render rdl files. In the rdl files we have set the font to “Century Gothic” and in preview mode it renders the fonts nicely. However – when it gets rendered on browser we see the fonts defaulted to “Times New Roman”. I tried couple of things without success: 1. Setting the font family of the page () 2. Setting the FontNames of the ReportViewer control Please let me know how we can render the fonts to Century Gothic. One more thing is I don't see Century Gothic in the list of available fonts in the HTML Editor inside Visual Studio 2010. Do I need to add them somewhere?

  Hello! I'm opening a connection to WebService with an URLConnection class. I also set request property for basic authorization like this: c.setRequestProperty("Authorization", "Basic " + usernameAndPasswordEncoded); Where c is an object of type URLConnection. So this is client side of WebService call. Now on server side I need to get username from session: User user = (User) request.getSession().getAttribute("user"); But this won't get an username. Also if I look through debug mode, I see an anonymous userName in HttpSession object. What to do to solve this problem, so that username is sent through client to WebService server for authorization? • VS2010 Clean Web.configs - not updating

  Hello, I'm messing around with MVC 2.0 on VS2010 and am having an issue getting the clean web config feature working. Basically in my Web.debug.config I have <connectionStrings xdt:Transform="Replace"> <add name="ApplicationServices" connectionString="Server=localhost;Database=SITE_DB;User ID=dbuser;Password=P@ssw0rd;Trusted_Connection=False;" /> </connectionStrings> and in my Web.config I have <connectionStrings> <add name="ApplicationServices" connectionString="data source=.\SQLEXPRESS;Integrated Security=SSPI;AttachDBFilename=|DataDirectory|aspnetdb.mdf;User Instance=true" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" /> </connectionStrings> When I run the site in debug mode, I'd expect that xdt:Transform="Replace" would replace the entire connectionStrings section with what is in the Web.debug.config. Am I assuming wrong? Or am I doing something else incorrect. Not much info posted around this and I'd figure I'd ask you guys.

Is there a script/utility/mode of PCRE (or some other package) that will convert a PCRE (if possible) to an equivalent regex that doesn't use Perl's snazzy features? I'm fully aware that some Perl-style regexes cannot be stated as an ordinary regex, so I would not expect the tool to do the impossible, of course!

  I notice that every tutorial on setting up the GLUTesselator and its callbacks, use GlBegin, GlEnd and a vertex callback which uses glVertex. It seems to me like this makes it run in immediate mode right? That seems to me as inefficient. How could I set it up to use a vertex array? Could I just use the output from the vertex callback and then generate a vertex array from this data then submit it like I might usually do it? Or is there another, better way of doing this? Thanks

[2]is there any better mechanism that could give me better information when unhandled exception occured? (I can't use debug mode or add any code that affect runtime performance, since crash is rare and only on release build when code run as fast as possible) [3]is there any way for me to get several callstack address when unhandled exception occured. [4]suppose ExceptionAddress has address A, and I have DLL X loaded and executed at base address A-x, and some other DLL Y at A+y, is it good to assume that crash was PROBABLY caused by code on DLL X?

• Center the stage in Flash CS4/AS3 on a standalone player

  I have a Flash presentation (made in Flash CS4 with AS3) I am working on and running in a standalone Flash player. When I start the presentation the stage is centered in the Flash player, even if I resize it. The presentation contains an FLVPlayback component which, at different frames, plays different content. A navigation menu (made of buttons) is used to move through the different frames. My problem is that if the player is resized so that it is bigger than the stage, sometimes after going into and exiting from fullScreen mode, the stage is moved to the left and I cannot find a way to move it back to the center. I cannot stage the scale as the content becomes distorted and I do not want to force fullScreen all the time. I would just like to center the stage in the Flash player. Is such a thing possible? Any help is greatly appreciated.
