  • How to prevent PHP variables from being arrays?

    - by MJB
    I think that (the title) is the problem I am having. I set up a MySQL connection, I read an XML file, and then I insert those values into a table by looping through the elements. The problem is, instead of inserting only 1 record, sometimes I insert 2 or 3 or 4. It seems to depend on the previous values I have read. I think I am reinitializing the variables, but I guess I am missing something -- hopefully something simple. Here is my code. I originally had about 20 columns, but I shortened the included version to make it easier to read. $ctr = 0; $sql = "insert into csd (id,type,nickname,hostname,username,password) ". "values (?,?,?,?,?,?)"; $cur = $db->prepare($sql); for ($ctr = 0; $ctr < $expected_count; $ctr++) { list ( $lbl, $type, $nickname, $hostname, $username, $password) = ""; $bind_vars = array(); $lbl = "csd_{$ctr}"; $type = $ref->itm->csds->$lbl->type; $nickname = $ref->itm->csds->$lbl->nickname; $hostname = $ref->itm->csds->$lbl->hostname; $username = $ref->itm->csds->$lbl->username; $password = $ref->itm->csds->$lbl->password; $bind_vars = array($id,$type,$nickname,$hostname,$username,$password); $res = $db->execute($cur, $bind_vars); # this is a separate function which works, but which only # does SELECTS and cannot be the problem. I include it because I # want to count the total rows. printf ("%d CSDs on that ITEM now.\n", CountCSDs($id_to_sync)); } P.S. I also tagged this SimpleXML because that is how I am reading the file, though that code is not included above. It looks like this: $Ref = simplexml_load_file($file);

  • Retrieve part of a MySQL column with PHP

    - by Gerardo Marset
    For instance, if I have the following table: +----+---+----------+ | id | a | position | +----+---+----------+ | 0 | 0 | 0 | | 1 | 0 | 1 | | 2 | 1 | 4 | | 3 | 1 | 9 | | 4 | 1 | 6 | | 5 | 1 | 1 | +----+---+----------+ and I want to get an array that contains the first 100 values from position where a is 1 in ascending order, what would I do? Im guessing something like this: $col = mysql_fetch_array( mysql_query(' SELECT `position` FROM `table` WHERE `a`="1" ORDER BY `position` ASC LIMIT 100 ')); I'd expect to get the following array: +-------+-------+ | index | value | +-------+-------+ | 0 | 1 | | 1 | 4 | | 2 | 6 | | 3 | 9 | +-------+-------+ but it doesn't work. ¿What should I do to make it work? Thanks

  • php - usort or array_multisort?

    - by Simpson88Keys
    Trying to sort the array below by memnum in ascending order, and I'm a bit confused which is better to use... usort or array_multisort? I was thinking usort because it's multidimensional? Does anyone have an example of this? Array ( [0] => Array ( [memnum] => 3236467423 [mid] => 1104881300 [fname] => JOHN [lname] => DOE [add1] => OMITTED [add2] => [city] => CHESTERFIELD [state] => MI [zip] => 48051 [age] => 50 ) [1] => Array ( [memnum] => 3258467922 [mid] => 1105121457 [fname] => JANE [lname] => DOE [add1] => OMITTED [add2] => [city] => CHESTERFIELD [state] => MI [zip] => 48051 [age] => 50 ) [2] => Array ( [memnum] => 3237769108 [mid] => 1104489312 [fname] => BOB [lname] => DOE [add1] => OMITTED [add2] => [city] => CHESTERFIELD [state] => MI [zip] => 48051 [age] => 50 ) )

  • [PHP] preg_replace: replacing using %

    - by Juan
    Hi all, I'm using the function preg_replace but I cannot figure out how to make it work, the function just doesn't seem to work for me. What I'm trying to do is to convert a string into a link if any word contains the % (percentage) character. For instance if I have the string "go to %mysite", I'd like to convert the mysite word into a link. I tried the following... $data = "go to %mysite"; $result = preg_replace('/(^|[\s\.\,\:\;]+)%([A-Za-z0-9]{1,64})/e', '\\1%<a href=#>\\2</a>', $data); ...but it doesn't work. Any help on this would be much appreciated. Thanks Juan

  • How to access a plugin model from a regular controller in PHP Cake 1.1

    - by Duncan
    Hopefully a simple question: I've a plugin which uses a set of tables (kb_items, kb_item_tags, etc). and I'd like to be able to access these models from another controller (say, my Pages controller), thus: class PagesController extends AppController{ function knowledgebase(){ $items = $this->KbItem->findAll(...); } } I am admittedly breaking the rules a little (by not placing this controller inside the knowledge base plugin), but this in this case its a custom page that doesn't need to be part of the knowledge base plugin code base. Please let me know if you need more details. Thanks in advance for any help!

  • Are Dynamic Prepared Statements Bad? (with php + mysqli)

    - by John
    I like the flexibility of Dynamic SQL and I like the security + improved performance of Prepared Statements. So what I really want is Dynamic Prepared Statements, which is troublesome to make because bind_param and bind_result accept "fixed" number of arguments. So I made use of an eval() statement to get around this problem. But I get the feeling this is a bad idea. Here's example code of what I mean // array of WHERE conditions $param = array('customer_id'=>1, 'qty'=>'2'); $stmt = $mysqli->stmt_init(); $types = ''; $bindParam = array(); $where = ''; $count = 0; // build the dynamic sql and param bind conditions foreach($param as $key=>$val) { $types .= 'i'; $bindParam[] = '$p'.$count.'=$param["'.$key.'"]'; $where .= "$key = ? AND "; $count++; } // prepare the query -- SELECT * FROM t1 WHERE customer_id = ? AND qty = ? $sql = "SELECT * FROM t1 WHERE ".substr($where, 0, strlen($where)-4); $stmt->prepare($sql); // assemble the bind_param command $command = '$stmt->bind_param($types, '.implode(', ', $bindParam).');'; // evaluate the command -- $stmt->bind_param($types,$p0=$param["customer_id"],$p1=$param["qty"]); eval($command); Is that last eval() statement a bad idea? I tried to avoid code injection by encapsulating values behind the variable name $param. Does anyone have an opinion or other suggestions? Are there issues I need to be aware of?

  • [PHP] Kohana-v3 ORM parent relationship

    - by VDVLeon
    Hi all, I just started with the version 3 of the Kohana Framework. I have worked a little with the $_has_many etc. Now I have the table pages. The primary key is pageID. The table has a column called parentPageID. Now I want to make a ORM model who, when accesed like this $page->parent->find() returns the page identified by parentPageID. I have the following already: // Settings protected $_table_name = 'pages'; protected $_primary_key = 'pageID'; protected $_has_one = array( 'parent' => array( 'model' => 'page', 'foreign_key' => 'parentPageID', ), ); But that does not work, it simply returns the first page from the table. Last query says this: SELECT `pages`.* FROM `pages` ORDER BY `pages`.`pageID` ASC LIMIT 1 Does somebody know how to solve this? I know this can: $parent = $page->parent->find($page->parentPageID); but it must be and can be cleaner (I think).

  • Membership levels PHP

    - by Ben
    I want to make someone able to register on my site (or upgrade their current account) with one of 3 membership levels. When someone selects the membership level (or upgrades their current account) and registers, they will register under that membership level and payment will be started from there. My real question being how do I make someone able to sign up (or upgrade) an account upon registration (for new accounts) and upgrade for existing accounts and have this happen automatically so I dont have to do them all by hand? Thanks! Benjamin

    - by Matt
    What I am looking for currently is a simple, basic, login credentials sanitation script. I understand that I make a function to do so and I have one...but all it does right now is strip tags... am I doomed to use replace? or is there a way i can just remove all special characters and spaces and limit it to only letters and numbers...then as for the password limit it to only letters and numbers exclimation points, periods, and other special chars that cannot affect my SQL query. Please help :/ Thanks, Matt

  • Reading in bytes produced by PHP script in Java to create a bitmap

    - by Kareem
    I'm having trouble getting the compressed jpeg image (stored as a blob in my database). here is the snippet of code I use to output the image that I have in my database: if($row = mysql_fetch_array($sql)) { $size = $row['image_size']; $image = $row['image']; if($image == null){ echo "no image!"; } else { header('Content-Type: content/data'); header("Content-length: $size"); echo $image; } } here is the code that I use to read in from the server: URL sizeUrl = new URL(MYURL); URLConnection sizeConn = sizeUrl.openConnection(); // Get The Response BufferedReader sizeRd = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(sizeConn.getInputStream())); String line = ""; while(line.equals("")){ line = sizeRd.readLine(); } int image_size = Integer.parseInt(line); if(image_size == 0){ return null; } URL imageUrl = new URL(MYIMAGEURL); URLConnection imageConn = imageUrl.openConnection(); // Get The Response InputStream imageRd = imageConn.getInputStream(); byte[] bytedata = new byte[image_size]; int read = imageRd.read(bytedata, 0, image_size); Log.e("IMAGEDOWNLOADER", "read "+ read + " amount of bytes"); Log.e("IMAGEDOWNLOADER", "byte data has length " + bytedata.length); Bitmap theImage = BitmapFactory.decodeByteArray(bytedata, 0, image_size); if(theImage == null){ Log.e("IMAGEDOWNLOADER", "the bitmap is null"); } return theImage; My logging shows that everything has the right length, yet theImage is always null. I'm thinking it has to do with my content type. Or maybe the way I'm uploading?

  • PHP, is_array() generating an "Undefined property: stdClass::$crit " error

    - by Brook Julias
    is_array($src2->crit) is generating an "Undefined property: stdClass::$crit" error. The line throwing the error is: if(is_array($src2->crit) && count($src->crit) > 0){ $src2->crit is initialized here. $src2->crit = array(); $src2->crit[0] = new dataSet(); $src2->crit[0]->tblName = $tbl2; $src2->crit[0]->colName = "ID"; $src2->crit[0]->val = $elm->editID; When testing $src2->crit with this code. print("\$src->crit is a ".$src->crit."<br />"); print_r($src->crit); print("<br />"); This is returned. $src2->crit is a Array Array ( [0] => dataSet Object ( [tblName] => sExam [colName] => ID [val] => 10 ) ) What am I not seeing/understanding correctly? If print("\$src2->crit is a ".$src->crit."<br />") returns that it is an array then why is is_array($src2->$crit) generating an error?

  • Regular Expressions in PHP

    - by kelly
    Sorry for unclear description, my English is not good. My problem is that I want to decode a string, and this string has nested content delimited by {}. For example: The string: {any string0{any string 00{any string 000....}}}{any string1}any string. The result I want to get: array[0] = {any string0{any string 00{any string 000....}}} array[1] = {any string1} I hope it's clear enough.

  • Insert array to mysql database php

    - by ganjan
    Hi. I want to add an array to my db. I have set up a function that checks if a value in the db (ex. health and money) has changed. If the value is diffrent from the original I add the new value to the $db array. Like this $db['money'] = $money_input + $money_db;. function modify_user_info($conn, $money_input, $health_input){ (...) if ($result = $conn->query($query)) { while ($user = $result->fetch_assoc()) { $money_db = $user["money"]; $health_db = $user["health"]; } $result->close(); //lag array til db med kolonnene som skal fylles ut som keys i array if ($user["money"] != $money_input){ $db['money'] = $money_input + $money_db; //0 - 20 if (!preg_match("/^[[0-9]{0,20}$/i", $db['money'])){ echo "error"; return false; } } if ($user["health"] != $health_input){ $db['health'] = $health_input + $health_db; //0 - 4 if (!preg_match("/^[[0-9]{0,4}$/i", $db['health'])){ echo "error"; return false; } if (($db['health'] < 1) or ($db['health'] > 1000)) { echo "error"; return false; } } The keys in $db represent colums in my database. Now I want to make a function that takes the keys in the array $db and insert them in the db. Something like this ? $query = "INSERT INTO `main_log` ( `id` , "; foreach(range(0, x) as $num) { $query .= array_key.", "; } $query = substr($query, 0, -3); $query .= " VALUES ('', "; foreach(range(0, x) as $num) { $query .= array_value.", "; } $query = substr($query, 0, -3); $query .= ")";

  • PHP regular expression

    - by Ferol
    such text: $text = ' href="http://yahoo.com" target="_blank"> link text </a> text... text... <br> text...'; // $text = ' text... <a href="http://yahoo.com" target="_blank"> link text </a> text... text... <br> text...'; and such regular expression: preg_match_all('/^(.*)(<.+>)(.*)(<\/.+>)(.*)$/',$text,$matches); what I want, - to check if text matches the regular expression. If yes, then $matches should contain parts of string above, if not (as I guess) it should contain four zero-length arrays. something is wrong, but I can't find, what actually is?

  • [PHP] Condition for array with string as keys

    - by Kel
    My PL/SQL procedure returns a cursor. It always returns data. I fetch (oci_fetch_assoc) it and save it in an array. If results were found the keys of the array will be strings. If the cursor didn't find data, it will return value 0, thus the key of the array will be numeric. while($data = oci_fetch_assoc($cursor)){ if(!isset($data[0])){ ... } ... ... } What's the best way to check that the array is not just 0, but contains data? Thanks

Code is not required just help with the SQL concept or math for it, would help me understand how to move it better...
