  • Apply PHP regex replace on a multi-line repeted pattern

    - by Hussain
    Let's say I have this input: I can haz a listz0rs! # 42 # 126 I can haz another list plox? # Hello, world! # Welcome! I want to split it so that each set of hash-started lines becomes a list: I can haz a listz0rs! <ul> <li>42</li> <li>126</li> </ul> I can haz another list plox? <ul> <li>Hello, world!</li> <li>Welcome!</li> </ul> If I run the input against the regex "/(?:(?:(?<=^# )(.*)$)+)/m", I get the following result: Array ( [0] => Array ( [0] => 42 ) Array ( [0] => 126 ) Array ( [0] => Hello, world! ) Array ( [0] => Welcome! ) ) This is fine and dandy, but it doesn't distinguish between the two different lists. I need a way to either make the quantifier return a concatenated string of all the occurrences, or, ideally, an array of all the occurrences. Idealy, this should be my output: Array ( [0] = Array ( [0] = 42 [1] = 126 ) Array ( [0] = Hello, world! [1] = Welcome! ) ) Is there any way of achieving this, and if not, is there a close alternative? Thanks in advance!

  • User upload file above web root with php

    - by Chris
    I have a website where local bands can have a profile page, I'm implementing an upload system so that they can add songs to their profile. I want to make sure that clever visitors to my website cannot download their songs. I was thinking about uploading them to above the folder for my domain so that they cannot be accessed directly. Is this a good idea and/or possible? If not, what do you suggest I do to try and avoid users downloading songs. I'm already using a flash player to try and prevent downloads.

  • PHP: Condense array of similar strings into one merged array

    - by Matt Andrews
    Hi everyone. Working with an array of dates (opening times for a business). I want to condense them to their briefest possible form. So far, I started out with this structure Array ( [Mon] => 12noon-2:45pm, 5:30pm-10:30pm [Tue] => 12noon-2:45pm, 5:30pm-10:30pm [Wed] => 12noon-2:45pm, 5:30pm-10:30pm [Thu] => 12noon-2:45pm, 5:30pm-10:30pm [Fri] => 12noon-2:45pm, 5:30pm-10:30pm [Sat] => 12noon-11pm [Sun] => 12noon-9:30pm ) What I want to achieve is this: Array ( [Mon-Fri] => 12noon-2:45pm, 5:30pm-10:30pm [Sat] => 12noon-11pm [Sun] => 12noon-9:30pm ) I've tried writing a recursive function and have managed to output this so far: Array ( [Mon-Fri] => 12noon-2:45pm, 5:30pm-10:30pm [Tue-Fri] => 12noon-2:45pm, 5:30pm-10:30pm [Wed-Fri] => 12noon-2:45pm, 5:30pm-10:30pm [Thu-Fri] => 12noon-2:45pm, 5:30pm-10:30pm [Sat] => 12noon-11pm [Sun] => 12noon-9:30pm ) Can anybody see a simple way of comparing the values and combining the keys where they're similar? My recursive function is basically two nested foreach() loops - not very elegant. Thanks, Matt EDIT: Here's my code so far, which produces the 3rd array above (from the first one as input): $last_time = array('t' => '', 'd' => ''); // blank array for looping $i = 0; foreach($final_times as $day=>$time) { if($last_time['t'] != $time ) { // it's a new time if($i != 0) { $print_times[] = $day . ' ' . $time; } // only print if it's not the first, otherwise we get two mondays } else { // this day has the same time as last time $end_day = $day; foreach($final_times as $day2=>$time2) { if($time == $time2) { $end_day = $day2; } } $print_times[] = $last_time['d'] . '-' . $end_day . ' ' . $time; } $last_time = array('t' => $time, 'd' => $day); $i++; }

  • How to prevent PHP variables from being arrays?

    - by MJB
    I think that (the title) is the problem I am having. I set up a MySQL connection, I read an XML file, and then I insert those values into a table by looping through the elements. The problem is, instead of inserting only 1 record, sometimes I insert 2 or 3 or 4. It seems to depend on the previous values I have read. I think I am reinitializing the variables, but I guess I am missing something -- hopefully something simple. Here is my code. I originally had about 20 columns, but I shortened the included version to make it easier to read. $ctr = 0; $sql = "insert into csd (id,type,nickname,hostname,username,password) ". "values (?,?,?,?,?,?)"; $cur = $db->prepare($sql); for ($ctr = 0; $ctr < $expected_count; $ctr++) { list ( $lbl, $type, $nickname, $hostname, $username, $password) = ""; $bind_vars = array(); $lbl = "csd_{$ctr}"; $type = $ref->itm->csds->$lbl->type; $nickname = $ref->itm->csds->$lbl->nickname; $hostname = $ref->itm->csds->$lbl->hostname; $username = $ref->itm->csds->$lbl->username; $password = $ref->itm->csds->$lbl->password; $bind_vars = array($id,$type,$nickname,$hostname,$username,$password); $res = $db->execute($cur, $bind_vars); # this is a separate function which works, but which only # does SELECTS and cannot be the problem. I include it because I # want to count the total rows. printf ("%d CSDs on that ITEM now.\n", CountCSDs($id_to_sync)); } P.S. I also tagged this SimpleXML because that is how I am reading the file, though that code is not included above. It looks like this: $Ref = simplexml_load_file($file);

  • PHP: saving multiple tuples to the same table

    - by Binaryrespawn
    Hi all, I am trying to save data into the same table several times from the same $_POST array. You see, on my registration form a family is allowed to specify the names, gender and age of all members they wish to bring along. This data is being stored in a database table called aditional_member. Based on family size, I am dynamically generating html table rows where each row has the number of input fields required. <tr id="additionalmember_3"> <td><input type="text" name="first_name1" maxlength="50" value="" /></td> <td><input type="text" name="last_name1" maxlength="50" value="" /></td> td><select name="gender1" value="" ><option value='Male'>Male</option><option value='Female'>Female</option></select></td> <td><select name="age_group"value="" ><option value='18 to 30'>18 to 30</option><option value='31 to 60'>31 to 60</option></select></td> </tr> When I POST, let us say I have three sets of input(3 table rows as above), Is there a simple way to insert into the addional_member table the data from row one, then row two, and so on. I tried looping the insert statement, which failed. I am basically open to suggestions, I do not need to use a table. Any ideas, Thank you.

  • php : is this if condition correct?

    - by phill
    I have the following if condition statement if ( (strlen($data[70])>0) || ( (remove19((trim($data[29])) == '7135556666')) && isLongDistance($data[8])) ) where $data is a recordset from a database. My goal is to include all rows where $data[70] isn't blank, and also include rows where $data[29] = 713555666 && $data[8] isLongDistance = TRUE My question is, if isLongDistance($data[8]) returns false, will it still return the row since $data[70] is not blank? thanks in advance

  • PHP Object conversion question

    - by karlthorwald
    I am converting from JSON to object and from object to array. It does not what I expected, can you explain to me? $json = '{"0" : "a"}'; $obj = json_decode($json); $a = (array) $obj; print_r($a); echo("a0:".$a["0"]."<br>"); $b = array("0" => "b"); print_r($b); echo("b0:".$b["0"]."<br>"); The output here is: Array ( [0] => a ) a0: Array ( [0] => b ) b0:b I would have expected a0:a at the end of the first line.

  • PHP regular expression

    - by Ferol
    such text: $text = ' href="http://yahoo.com" target="_blank"> link text </a> text... text... <br> text...'; // $text = ' text... <a href="http://yahoo.com" target="_blank"> link text </a> text... text... <br> text...'; and such regular expression: preg_match_all('/^(.*)(<.+>)(.*)(<\/.+>)(.*)$/',$text,$matches); what I want, - to check if text matches the regular expression. If yes, then $matches should contain parts of string above, if not (as I guess) it should contain four zero-length arrays. something is wrong, but I can't find, what actually is?

    - by Rob
    Hi, I'm trying to get the unix time for date strings that are formatted like so: 'second sunday of march 2010' 'first sunday of november 2010' I was under the impression that strtotime could handle such a string, but apparently not, as this returns false. How can I convert to unix time when given a day of week, which one of those in the month (ie. first, second, etc.), a month and a year.

  • Retrieve part of a MySQL column with PHP

    - by Gerardo Marset
    For instance, if I have the following table: +----+---+----------+ | id | a | position | +----+---+----------+ | 0 | 0 | 0 | | 1 | 0 | 1 | | 2 | 1 | 4 | | 3 | 1 | 9 | | 4 | 1 | 6 | | 5 | 1 | 1 | +----+---+----------+ and I want to get an array that contains the first 100 values from position where a is 1 in ascending order, what would I do? Im guessing something like this: $col = mysql_fetch_array( mysql_query(' SELECT `position` FROM `table` WHERE `a`="1" ORDER BY `position` ASC LIMIT 100 ')); I'd expect to get the following array: +-------+-------+ | index | value | +-------+-------+ | 0 | 1 | | 1 | 4 | | 2 | 6 | | 3 | 9 | +-------+-------+ but it doesn't work. ¿What should I do to make it work? Thanks

  • PHP shorthand syntax

    - by alex
    I've just came across this on GitHub. ($config === NULL) and $config = Kohana::config('email'); Is that the equivalent of if ($config === NULL) { $config = Kohana::config('email'); } Is this commonplace? Would I expect other developers looking at my code if I used that first way to instantly know what it was doing?

  • Math - Adding with PHP

    - by Wayne
    Basically I can't get it right. I need something like this: if($p == 1) { $start = 0; $limit = 16; } The numbers must add on depending on the value of the $p, e.g. if $p is 5 then the values of $start and $limit would be: if($p == 5) { $start = 64; $limit = 80; } The math is to add 16, depending on the value of $p. Thanks.
