  • Tunnel is up but cannot ping directly connected network

    We configured a site-to-site VPN and here is the topology. I control the network on the left but not the one on the right. All devices in our network has public IPs. Server---ASA5505---Cisco887======Internet=====ASA5510---devices I can see the tunnel is up and can do extended ping using a loopback interface. From the 10.175 and 10.165 networks, they can also ping my loopback address.     I've got a local user on my server that as of today cannot send email from any of their devices. Only Webmail (which doesn't touch any of their devices) works.   • Site-to-site VPN using MD5 instead of SHA and getting regular disconnection

    We are experiencing some strange behavior with a site-to-site IPsec VPN that goes down about every week for 30 minutes (Iam told 30 minutes exactly). I don't have access to the logs, so it's difficult to troubleshoot. What is also strange is that the two VPN devices are set to use SHA hash algorithm but apparently end up agreeing to use MD5. Does anybody have a clue? or is this just insufficient information?     After upgrading to Ubuntu 13.10 I was not able to access the Internet on any program that required it. So I uninstalled Firefox but I could reinstall from the software center so I used the terminal, everything ran smoothly, I told me how much additional space would be used, then it said "Err http://us.archive.ubuntu.com /ubuntu/ saucy/main Firefox i386 24.0+build1-0ubuntu1 Could not resolve 'us.archive.ubuntu.com Failed to fetch http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/f/firefox/firefox_24.0+build1-0ubuntu1_i386.deb Could not resolve 'us.archive.ubuntu.com' E: Unable to fetch some archives, maybe run apt-get update or try with --fix-missing?" And with both given possible fixes I also get errors. Please help, it's been like this sense the day the 13.10 update was released

  • How do I create a LiveUSB that lets me install any Ubuntu version?

    What I'd like to do: have Ubuntu installed on a USB drive and from there install any ubuntu version on a hdd. This is kinda different from using usb-creator because I'd like to have a persistent ubuntu install on the USB drive and not upgrade it every 6 months. From there I'd like to be able to install the most recent ubuntu version. I think it's just a matter of configuring ubiquity, but don't know if this is the case and how exactly do this. EDIT: Let's clarify the persistent thing: suppose I have my USB with ubuntu precise on it suppose quantal is out in the wild suppose that I want to install quantal on the hdd of a computer suppose that I want/can use only the USB drive with precise on it I should erase/upgrade precise on the USB drive to quantal and then install it on the hard drive I don't want to touch my ubuntu install on the USB drive, I'd like to be able to install the newer ubuntu version (quantal) on a hdd from another one (precise) on a USB drive I'd better avoid upgrading the installation on the hdd Hope this helps

  • Can't read CDs, can't create USB... how do I install Ubuntu?

    Hello everyone and thank you in advance for your time. I have troubles with the latest Ubuntu distribution: since I upgraded to 12.04 Ubuntu has started having troubles (internal errors, packages that crash repeatedly, I can't install new packages, Ubuntu Software Center crashes, Java apps that worked stopped working and display weird mistakes, files were corrupted... a mess). I ultimately decided to format everything and install 12.04 from scratch. I made a backup and everything, but now I have troubles installing ubuntu 12.04. Specifically, a CD I burned with Brasero that works on another PC is not read by my laptop (not at boot phase, nor inside Ubuntu), and when I try to create a USB with Ubuntu (following the instructions I found on the ubuntu site) Startup Disk Creator stops at 22% saying that "the codes do not match". Any idea on what to do next? No, I can't buy a new PC.

  • WCF listenBacklog and maxConnections can't be set higher than 10. Why not?

    My service works great under low load. But under high load I start to get connection errors. I know about other settings but I am trying to change the listenBacklog parameter in particular for my TCP Buffered binding. If I set listenBacklog="10" I am able to telnet into the port where my WCF service is running. If I change listenBacklog to anything higher than 10 it will not let me telnet into my service when it is running. No errors seem to be thrown. What can I do? I get the same problem when I change my maxConnections away from 10. All other properties of the binding I can set higher without a problem.   • RAID 10 or RAID 5 for multiple VMs - what is the best choice?

    I have just ordered a new rig for my business. We do a lot of software development for Microsoft SharePoint and need the rig to run several virtual machines for development and test purposes. We will be using the free VMware ESXi for virtualization. For a start, we plan to build and start the following VMs - all with Windows Server 2008 R2 x64: Active Directory server MS SQL Server 2008 R2 Automated Build Server SharePoint 2010 Server for hosting our public Web site and our internal Intranet for a few people. The load on this server is going to be quite insignificant. 2xSharePoint 2007 development server 2xSharePoint 2010 development server Beyond that we will need to build several SharePoint farms for testing purposes. These VMs will only be started when needed. The specs of the new rig is: Dell R610 rack server 2xIntel XEON E5620 48GB RAM 6x146GB SAS drives Dell H700 RAID controller We believe the new server is going to make our VMs perform a lot better than our existing setup (2xIntel XEON, 16GB RAM, 2x500 GB SATA in RAID 1). But we are not sure about the RAID level for the new rig. Should we go for having the the 6x146GB SAS drives in a RAID 10 configuration or a RAID 5 configuration? RAID 10 seems to offer better write performance and lower risk of a RAID failure. But it comes at a cost of less drive space. Do we need RAID 10 or would RAID 5 also be a good choice for us?

When we hit a 0 in the array (i.e. Hit(0, 0), Hit(1, 1), but not Hit(3, 0)) I would like all the adjacent zeros to the zero we hit to be incremented by 10. So if I call Hit(1, 1), the array should become the following. static int[,] arr = new int[5, 5] { { 10, 10, 10, 01, 00 }, { 10, 10, 01, 01, 00 }, { 10, 10, 01, 01, 00 }, { 10, 10, 01, 01, 00 }, { 10, 10, 10, 01, 00 }, }; Any idea how I could implement that? It sounds to me like a Depth First Search/Recursive sort-of algorithm should do the job, but I haven't been able to implement it for an 2d array. Thanks for the help!

  • How to access remote mysql host on Ubuntu inside VMware?

    Hi, I'm running Ubuntu 10.10 inside VMware fusion on Mac OSX Snow Leopard. Inside ubuntu, I'm attempting to use command-line mysql to connect to a database hosted on a separate web server. For some reason, mysql misinterprets the remote hostname as a local address, and is not able to connect to the database. Steps: (from ubuntu inside VMware) mysql -u <my-username> -h mysql-2.sandbox.wrkng.net -p Enter Password: <my password> expected: to log into mysql got: ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user '<my-username>'@'c-71-233-98-90.hds1.ma.comcast.net' (using password: YES) Note that the hostname referenced in the error message is different than the one I inputted to the mysql command. Also, performing the same command from the Mac (host of the VM) terminal successfully connects to the database. I am not seasoned with VMware or linux, so I may be missing something obvious here -- it seems like somewhere along the way either ubuntu or the VM has a networking issue. Note also that accessing the internet via ubuntu inside the VM works fine. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  • High CPU usage with Team Speak 3.0.0-rc2

    The CPU usage is always around 40 percent. I use push-to-talk and I had uninstalled pulseaudio. Now I use Alsa. I don't even have to connect to a Server. By simply starting TS the cpu usage goes up 40 percent and stays there. The CPU usage of 3.0.0-rc1 [Build: 14468] is constantly 14 percent. UPDATE: Thanks to nickguletskii's link I googled for "alsa cpu usage" (without quotes) and it brought me to a forum. A user wrote that by directly selecting the hardware with "plughw:x.x" won't impact the performance of the system. I have selected it in the TS 3 configuration and it worked. But this solution is not optimal because now no other program can access the sound output. If you need any further information or my question is unclear than please tell me.

I have been using the same laptop with Ubuntu and the same connection for more than a year, and suddenly yesterday the connection stopped working (both wireless and wired). I've tested with another computer and the connection is fine (both wireless and wired). I've been reading similar posts but I haven't found a solution yet.
