    I would like my external drives to be readable and writable from Linux, Mac OS X and Windows. FAT32 works, but the 4 GB file size limit is a showstopper these days. Are there any alternatives?

    Hi Guys. I have tried to find out the working solution for implementing simple events booking system in Drupal 6 (limited places, payment, signing up/buying few places for firends). System does not have to be big but easy to customize events to reserve/book places for. I was surprised of not finding much complete solutions. Most of the time I was directed to use modules like: Date, Calendar, Singup, Singup Ubercraft integration, Ubercraft. Does anybody of you has tested it? Is it working and customizable or you would suggest other alternatives on the subject? Wiil appreciate any recomendations.

  • Default user logon on Windows Server system

    I installed Remote Desktop Services role (ex Terminal Services) on my Windows Server 2008 R2 machine. After installation when I try to logon locally, there's no default user as it used to be. Can I tweak group policy to have my default user back? I did enable to remember last logon user, but it didn't work... Obviously RDS (ex TS) ignores this policy setting. Additional note: I'm not connected to a domain. It's a standalone development machine running server OS. No domain needed for it.

    I am designing a site where external links form various are being shown on my page. I am using $url=$_GET['url']; $website_data = file_get_contents($url); echo $website_data; so essentially a user would click on a hyperlink which is something like www.test.com/display_page.php?url=http://www.xyz.com/article/2.jpg My page, list_of_images.php, typically has a list of images with href for each image as above on the page and when any image is clicked it would go to display_page.php, which would show our banner on the top of this page, some text and then this image beneath that. This image could be from any website. I am currently sending the url directly and grabbing it using GET. I understand that users/hackers can actually do some coding and send commands for the url variable and could break the server or do something harmful and so i would like to avoid this method or sending the url directly in the header. what is the alternate approach for this problem?

  • SSIS - Connection Management Within a Loop

    Hi I have the following SSIS package: The problem is that within the Foreach loop a connection is opened and closed for each iteration. On running SQL Profiler I see a series of: Audit Login RPC:Completed Audit Lout The duration for the login and the RPC that actually does the work is minimal. However, the duration for the logout is significant, running into several seconds each. This causes the JOB to run very slowly - taking many hours. I get the same problem when running either on a test server or stand-alone laptop. Could anyone please suggest how I may change the package to improve performance? Also, I have noticed that when running the package from Visual Studio, it looks as though it continues to run with the component blocks going amber then green but actually all the processing has been completed and SQL profiler has dropped silent?     I need to add a CSS class to the TR (or multiple TR's) of the parent of a TD containing some specific text. Because of the CMS I can't control the code, but I can add some Jquery and CSS. I've tried a few things, but I've had no luck. Here is an example of what I had in mind. <style> tr.highlight { background: Blue;} </style> <table> <tr> <td> Pet </td> <td> Number of Legs </td> </tr> <tr> <td> Cat </td> <td> 4 </td> </tr> <tr> <td> Doggie </td> <td> 4 </td> </tr> </table> And I essentially want the jquery to add that class (highlight) to the offending TR. ** I know this is not an ideal approach, but desperate times call for desperate measures. ** Thanks for your help.

  • Raid system fails to boot after moving from 2.6 kernel to 3.5

    I'm running Gentoo Linux with a custom compiled kernel and I've just migrated from a 2.6 kernel to a 3.5. As my HD's are on RAID 0 mode I use a custom initrd file in order to be able to boot. While kernel 2.6 is able to boot without problems the new 3.5 compiled kernel fails to boot complaining about no block devices found. After taking a look at initrd.cpio contained scripts I can see the failure message is given by mdadm tool. Does anyone has a clue about that? Edit: this morning i noticed there was some kind of issue on my old initrd which works fine for 2.6 kernels, so created a new initrd which works fine and let me to boot into GNU/Gentoo Linux with same 3.5 bzImage.   • gvim: Easy copying into system clipboard

    I am using gVim on Ubuntu 10.10. I want to copy (yank) text to the system clipboard, so that the copied text is available in other applications. This works with "+y. But I want to have it working with y. I have tried to map y to "+y but then yy doesn't work anymore (since it produces "+y"+y). I have also tried :set clipboard=unnamed but this works only the other direction: Text in the system clipboard I can paste with p.

  • Good reasons to keep 32-bit desktop OS's

    Server software has been 64-bit only for a while now (Since Server 2008 R2 for Windows, even earlier for Exchange and Sharepoint) and even Ubuntu are pushing you away from 32-bit versions for their server OS's. But is there any good, quantifiable reason to keep a 32-bit desktop operating system maintained? We're preparing our Windows 8 images for the (unfortunate?) few that will be early adopters. The majority of our desktop computers have 4gb or less of RAM, but I would love to not have to bother supporting a 32-bit flavoured operating system any more. Any reason why I should?

  • Is there a "restore point" in Linux (Debian/Ubuntu) like Windows?

    I'm working directly in an Ubuntu Virtual Machine (VM). Some updates (like kernel) were available at the update manager. If I weren't using a VM, I wouldn't update it since it's a risk to break something. Since it's a VM, you can create a Snapshot or export an appliance and restore if something goes wrong. Suppose I'm not using a VM with a Debian/Ubuntu installation. Is there a install-restore approach that doesn't depend in a VM configuration to restore your system exactly before an upgrade (Like a "Restore Point" in Windows), being easy to restore like a VM appliance? (I'm not looking for "ghost images" or something like that (Norton Ghost, Clonezilla, etc), I'm looking for something builtin in the Linux System)

    Hi All.. I am comparing between two tables first column each. If there is find a match i am copying the text from the adjacent cell of the first table to the second table. I am able to compare strings and get the value, but finding it difficult to print it in the second table. I am getting the value in the var "replaceText", but how to print it in the second table ??     An HTTP server uses content-negotiation to serve a single URL identity- or gzip-encoded based on the client's Accept-Encoding header. Now say we have a proxy cache like squid between clients and the httpd. If the proxy has cached both encodings of a URL, how does it determine which to serve? The non-gzip instance (not originally served with Vary) can be served to any client, but the encoded instances (having Vary: Accept-Encoding) can only be sent to a clients with the identical Accept-Encoding header value as was used in the original request. E.g. Opera sends "deflate, gzip, x-gzip, identity, *;q=0" but IE8 sends "gzip, deflate". According to the spec, then, caches shouldn't share content-encoded caches between the two browsers. Is this true?
