• CSS Margin/Padding Issue on Browser Zoom

  I am having difficulty getting my page to show up correctly at various browser zoom settings. http://andstones.ca/newsite The content is aligned if the user is zoomed out on the page, but once they zoom too far out and refresh the page, or if they are too zoomed in and the page loads, then the content pane is shifted. This does not seem to be an issue in firefox, but it is a very serious issue in chrome/safari/iexplore and on the iPad. What can I do to ensure that the main content loads in the correct position regardless of user browser settings? Thanks , Kory

If so, how do I then register this Controller with IIS so that it redirects 404s to that page? Also, in a situation where something is not found (in the database, for example) by some other Controller code, how would I redirect the request to my 404 page?

• How to Use JQuery Click Event on Button in an AJAX Form

  I admittedly don't know much about JQuery but I have an AJAX page where I need to trigger a click event when someone clicks a button, but because the button is not there on the initial page load, I'm having issues using the click event. In my code, I just want to run a function when a button is clicked. <script type="text/javascript"> //Run function when button is clicked $(document).ready(function() { $("#idOfButton").click(function() { doSomething(); }); }); //The function I want ran when page visitor clicks button function doSomething() { //Do Something } </script> Obviously this code doesn't work, but any suggestions on how to use .click?   Hi, I am looking for a way to get a twitter users userid via their username. For example take http://twitter.com/AlySSa_miLAno (yes I know her twitter page off by heart lol) on the right hand side of the page is a link to her RSS feed: feed://twitter.com/statuses/user_timeline/26642006.rss In this context Alyssa's userid would be 26642006.   HI, I use a WebBrowser control to navigate to a html page which contains JavaScript. When I open this page in the IE browser no JavaScript error is shown and the page is displayed and functions perfectly. But when navigating to the same page with the WebBrowser control, a pop-up appears to inform about a Script error. I have tried to suppress the script error with the ScriptErrorsSuppressed property but now another pop-up comes up with the title "Visual Studio Just-In-Time Debugger" and proposes to debug. How can i disable all the errors?

  Hi! I was wondering whether there is a way to create an ActionLink or similar, that changes only a few parameters of the actual query, and keeps all the other parameters intact. For example if I'm on an URL like http://example.com/Posts/Index?Page=5&OrderBy=Name&OrderDesc=True I want to change only the Page, or OrderBy parameter and keep all other parameters the same, even those I don't yet know of (like when I want to add a Search parameter or something similar too). The header of my current action looks like this: public ActionResult Index(int? Page, string OrderBy, bool? Desc) and I'm only interested in the values that this controller "eats". I want however that when I extend this action (for example with a string Search parameter) the links should work the same way as before. Here is what I did already: Create a new RouteValueDictionary and fill it with everything from RouteData.Values Problem: This only fills the parameters that are used in the Routing, so all other optional parameters (like Page) to the controller are lost Add everything from HttpContext.Request.QueryString to the previous dictionary This is what I am currently using Problem: It might have some junk stuff, that the Controller didn`t ask for, and it doesn't work if the page was loaded using POST. You also don't have any ModelBindings (but this isn't much of a problem, because we are re-sending everything anyway) Use HttpContext.Request.Params Problem: this has too much junk data which imho one shouldn't add to a RouteValueDictionary that is passed to an ActionLink So the questions: Is there an RVD that has all the data that was passed to the Controller and was used by it? Is this solution good, or are there any caveats I didn't think about (mainly in the context of changing a few query parameters while keeping the others intact)? Is there a way to filter out the "junk" data from the Params object?

• VS2010 asking to upgrade SIlverlight??

  I'm running the absolute latest versions of Silverlight and Visual Studio 2010 Professional and built a solution that contained a WPF project. From there, I added a SketchFlow project (based on Blend 4 RC) and I can run each project within the solution just fine by setting whenever I switch between them as startup projects. From there, I added a Silverlight 4 Business Application (taking all the defaults), and when simply trying to set that as the startup project and running it, VS2010 is giving me the following error after trying to open a web page: Line: 56 (in file TestPage.aspx) Error: Unhandled Error in Silverlight Application Code: 8001 Category: InitializeError Message: Upgrade required If I choose not to debug, I get the Silverlight page saying "This page requires a more recent version of Silverlight"! Clicking "Install Now" on the popup window brings me to Mirosoft's Silverlight page where I see: "The version of Silverlight originally requested is not available. You can get a supported version from this page. This Web browser or operating system may not be compatible with Silverlight. Please review the system requirements and, if you wish to proceed, choose the link for your operating system." If I choose to upgrade anyway, I'm told that I'm running the latest version of Silverlight available. What the heck? I'm running the final versions of VS2010 Pro, Silverlight 4, and the latest version of Expression Blend 4 (RC). Why can't VS2010 run this default Silverlight Business App? Any ideas? Please??   On my page I have n-userControls (same control) I need to communicate between them(to be more specific I need to pass one in value) . I don't want to involve the hosting page for that. The controls acts as "pagers" and interact with the paged data on the hostin page via events that hosting page is subscribed to. So when user click on one of the pager and changes it's state, the other control should know about it and change itself accordingly. I can not use VieState because viewstate is per control and so is the controlstate. Can I use Session for that? (session is shared and there is only one value that i need to store) Or maybe there is something better I can use? (no QueryString)

• Viewing HTML inside Applet without using JEditorPane

  Hello, I have a small (500kb) swing applet that displays very simple/limited set of small HTML page(s) inside it with JEditorPane, however this does not seem to work 100% fluently, some customers get a blank page displayed without any java exceptions. The page works OK from my machine. I need a more reliable way to show HTML page to all our users. • Safari Back button not honouring PHP logout session

  I've got a logout.php page which ends a user's session and works well and does the following: session_start(); session_unset(); session_destroy(); I've just noticed when testing with Safari that when you logout you can click the back button to return to the previous page which requires authentication but are not prompted. You cannot navigate away from this page without entering the navigation but it should not be displaying the previous page in the first place. So far in my testing this is only an issue with Safari on Mac OS X and there are a number of other reports about this but with no resolution that I could find: http://www.experts-exchange.com/Web_Development/Web_Languages-Standards/PHP/Q_23702691.html I would love to be able to disable this behaviour with Safari's back button - surprised that this is happening in the first place.   Hi there, I created a calendar list, and I added the calendar web part in another web part page. I noticed that i can not change the view without going to edit mode, then go to modify shared web part. But in the home page of the calendar. There is a same calendar web part with a drop down menu to change views. Also, there is a small calendar connected to the main calendar web part in the left navigation area.   Hi, I have a loosely coupled web app (one part uses PHP, the other uses WGSI). The WSGI/python framework shares the authentication with the PHP app, meaning that generally, the user should Log in via the PHP interface Now the user can access any of the WSGI pages [this part works if the user has logged in] What I want to do though, is if a user tries to access a WSGI page while not logged in (maybe from a previous bookmark), I would like to redirect him to the login page, and after logging in redirect him back to the orignal URL. I'm not very experienced with server-side programming, so here are my questions. How should I redirect the user back to the PHP login page? What should the HTTP status code be? Do I need to set any extra header information? What is a good way/best practice method to pass the original URL to the login page, and then after logging have it redirect the user back. Thank you!

• Rails: Ajax: Changes Onload

  Hi. I have a web layout of a for that looks something like this <html> <head> </head> <body> <div id="posts"> <div id="post1" class="post" > <!--stuff 1--> </div> <div id="post2" class="post" > <!--stuff 1--> </div> <!-- 96 more posts --> <div id="post99" class="post" > <!--stuff 1--> </div> </div> </body> </html> I would like to be able to load and render the page with a blank , and then have a function called when the page is loaded which goes in and load up the posts and updates the page dynamically. In Rails, I tried using "link_to_remote" to update with all of the elements. I also tweaked the posts controller to render the collection of posts if it was an ajax request (request.xhr?). It worked fine and very fast. However the update of the blank div is triggered by clicking the link. I would like the same action to happen when the page is loaded so that I don't have to put in a link. Is there a Rails Ajax helper or RJS function or something in Rails that I could use to trigger the loading of the "posts" after the page has loaded and rendered (without the posts)? (If putsch comes to shove, I will just copy the generated JS code from the link_to_remote call and have it called from the onload handler on the body).

  Hi, I have a flow of web pages A and B. On the web page A, I do a "Response.Redirect("B.aspx"); The page B needs a client certificate. When the redirect is done I see a popup asking for a client certificate. I select the correct certificate, which is retrieved from a smart card, and then I insert the pin. Right after, I see a page saying that the connection was lost, and I receive an HTTP 302. I never reach the page B.aspx. I tried to add the following line "Response.RedirectLocation = "B.aspx"; but with no success too. Any hints? Thanks

However, now i cannot check if the xhr is already loading, making the page load multiple xhrs when the user near the bottom. • Buddypress on local server install has issues

  I have buddypress working nicely on a server, however I can't display the 'members' page or any individual profile page on a local webserver install I have made. If I try and visit /members/ I just get redirected back to the main buddypress page. I also just noticed online members never shows whose online and the link to the default blog on the main page is listed as http://localhost.localdomain/mu/BP_HOME_BLOG_SLUG which seems to indicate to me that BP_HOME_BLOG_SLUG is undefined, I can't find where it gets set or defined, not sure if these two problems are related to the other problems. No idea what's causing it, I've been pouring over the php files but haven't even gotten a clue, any suggestions on what I could do?

  I have a standard aspx page with which I need to add another standard HTML form into and have it submit to another location (external site), however whenever I press the submit button the page seems to do a post back rather than using the sub-forms action url. A mock up of what the form relationships is below. • How to use ASP.NET Routing in a Quote of the Day Website

  Good Afternoon, A client is interested in creating an ASP.NET 2.0 website whose purpose is to serve up a "quote of the day". He wants the quotes on static content pages all attached to the same master page. The quote pages must be viewed in a certain sequence, and site browsers cannot view any other pages than the starting page when browsing to the site. That is, everyone must go to page 001.aspx when entering the site. Two Questions: 1. The content pages are going to be created by the client using an excel data source and a merge process by which each quote page is created eg. 001.aspx, 002.aspx etc. This seems clunky to me at best. Would ASP.NET Dynamic Data be a better solution here? I'm new to ASP.NET Routing and URL Rewriting as a whole. How would I setup a route table to ensure that users always entered the site on the same entry page, and create a route table such that default.aspx resolves to 001.aspx? Thanks, Sid
