• how do i use htaccess to make http requests work properly

  I currently have css and javascript file calls (amongst other things) like the following: href="/css/default.css" src="/js/ui_control.js" putting the preceding / in to make the files relative to the root. This works great when my page is in the root of the domain. However, I'm currently in the middle of transferring my site to a new hosting provider and as such have a temporary URL which is: HOST-IP/~username As such, all file calls are trying to be called from HOST-IP/css/default.css etc instead of within the ~username sub-folder. Of course I can wait until the domain name servers propagate but that's beside the point. How would I go about writing a rule in the .htaccess file that would redirect all file calls that start with a /, from going to HOST-IP/FILE-CALL, and instead to go to HOST-IP/~USERNAME/FILE-CALL. ? Any ideas?

• How might I assume a "default value" when parsing using boost::spirit?

  Let's say I have a grammar defined to something like: a b c d where c, and d are optional and default to 14 if not given. Can I get it to automatically return the 14 if the value isn't given? The closest I've come is like the following: qi::rule<Iterator, std::vector<int>(), ascii::space_type> some_rule; some_rule %= >> int_ >> int_ >> -int_ >> -int_; // ... some_other_rule = some_rule[&some_callback_for_int_vectors]; which will then get 0 for the optional values that didn't show up (I believe). I then change consecutive 0s at the end into 14. Not only is this horribly wrong, but its also just not elegant. Is there a better way to do this?

  Hi there, I have an old MySQL 4.1 database with a table that has a few millions rows and an old Java application that connects to this database and returns several thousand rows from this this table on a frequent basis via a simple SQL query (i.e. SELECT * FROM people WHERE first_name = 'Bob'. I think the Java application uses client side prepared statements but was looking at switching this to the server, and in the example mentioned the value for first_name will vary depending on what the user enters). I would like to speed up performance on the select query and was wondering if I should switch to Prepared Statements or Stored Procedures. Is there a general rule of thumb of what is quicker/less resource intensive (or if a combination of both is better)

• Simple URL rewrite, not redirect, with .htaccess

I have a domain - "http://www.exampletest.com" which redirects to a folder at a different domain where I have hosting i.e: "http://www.differenturl.com/exampletest" Is there an easy mod_rewrite rule where I could have anything at "http://www.differenturl.com/exampletest" show up as "http://www.exampletest.com?" An example would be: "http://www.differenturl.com/exampletest/user.php" - "http://www.exampletest.com/user.php" Any assistance is greatly appreciated. • Redirect to Apache default 404 page with mod_rewrite?

  Is there a way to actively serve Apache's default 404 page for a number of URLs using mod_rewrite? Not a custom error document, but a rule like RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/dirname/pagename RewriteRule -- serve 404 page ----- I guess I could build a PHP page that sends the 404 header and have mod_rewrite redirect all the URLs there but I would prefer a solution that is based on mod_rewrite only. I just had the idea of redirecting to a non-existent address: RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/dirname/pagename RewriteRule .* /sflkadsölfkasdfölkasdflökasdf but that would give the user the message "/sflkadsölfkasdfölkasdflökasdf does not exist" on the error page, which looks a bit unprofessional.

  I am trying to write a RegEx rule to find all a href HTML links on my webpage and add a 'rel="nofollow"' to them. However, I have a list of URLs that must be excluded (for exmaple, ANY (wildcards) internal link (eg. pokerdiy.com) - so that any internal link that has my domain name in is excluded from this. Right now they are all DataTables, which isn't very space efficient (the rule of thumb is 10x increase in size when data is strored in a dataset). Old Code DataTable table = dataAccess.GetDataTable(); dropDownList.DataSource = table; Hoped for new Code Unknown data = dataAccess.GetSomethingMoreSpaceEfficient(); dropDownList.DataSource = data; What pre-existing datastructures are similar enough to DataTable that would minimize code breakage and reduce the serialized size when stored in ASP.NET cache?

• Regular Expression - Password Validation is not working

  Hi, I have to validate the password using regex. The password rule is like at least 1 uppercase and at least 2 numeric. It works fine except if the character comes at the end of the string. The regular expression which i am using is "^(?=.*\d.{2})(?=.*[A-Z].{1})(?=.*[@#$%^&+=].{2}).{8,12}$" Rules: minimum length = 8 minimum uppercase = 1 minimum numeric = 2 minimum special character = 1 It works for Test123$$, Test$123, TEST123$s, Test123$1, Test12$3 but it fails if the character specified comes at the end of the string like Test123$, Test$a12, Test12aa@, 123aa@@T. Please let me know if there is any fix for this.

  Let's say you have an MVVM CRM application. You have a number of customer objects in memory, through a repository. What would be the appropriate place to handle tasks that aren't associated with traditional MVVM tasks from a GUI? For example, let's say every few minutes you want to check to see if their address is valid and pop up a notification if it is not. Or you want to send out an hourly e-mail update. Or you want a window to pop up to remind you to call a customer at a specific time. Where does this logic go? It's not GUI/action-oriented, and it's not logic that would be appropriate for a repository, I think.

• How many databases to support eCommerce?

  I have a system with two databases, one that the customer-facing website uses, the second that is used by the "backroom" order-fulfillment system. I've been asked to run queries from the website to the backroom system. I'd rather not, it seems risky to allow web-based request to run unheeded on the internal system. Additionally, this means opening up routing in the firewall to allow external connections to the internal server. What's the best practice for eCommerce? Run the entire company off of one database? Or individual databases for each system, and middleware to connect them? Sometimes it might be necessary for the web application to pull date from the internal system, but not based on an HTTP request from the internet. I'm sure the best answer is "it depends!" So, if people have a rule of thumb for when to use middleware and when not to, I'd like to here it.

I have two different webistes both with their own dedicted ip address. sitea.com = xx.xx.xx.43 siteb.com = xx.xx.xx.44 Im using hmailserver to host our emails and have the smtp bound to the ip address of xx.xx.xx.42 im aware that i can set up a spf record to state that the what servers emails can be sent from v=spf1 mx ip4:xx.xx.xx.43 mx:mail.sitea.com ip4:xx.xx.xx.42 -all Would the fact that email are not sent from the sites ip's be causing them to be flagged as junk. • Win32 script environment for testing http redirects?

  The past few days I've been working with setting up an Apache server on Windows. The server is supposed to host several .htaccess files, each redirecting (or, in some cases, proxying) to different hosts. I want to create tests for these redirectons, and the solution I'm currently considering is a CGI script running on the same server, sending GET requests to it and verifying that it gets the correct redirection headers back. A scripting solution (vscript/jscript) seems worth exploring, but so far I've only managed to rule out Microsoft.XMLHTTP because it follows the redirect "behind the scenes". Are there any libraries or other solutions already present on a reasonably standard Windows Server that can do this kind of low-level HTTP work? If not, any other suggestions of simple environments to set up for verifying redirects?

• Problems with mod_rewrite and 301 redirects from one dynamic url to another

  Hey all, I'm having all kinds of problems with a bunch of apache redirects just now and could really use some help! I'm wating to put in a 301 redirect for a load of urls from a client's old site to their new site in the following format; Old - page.php?pageNum_rs_all=0&totalRows_rs_all=112 New - page/sub?foo=bar The values in the query sting for the old site don't in any way tie up to any ids or references on the new site, I only want to match that specific request and redirect to the new page. It feels like I've tried just about every combination of rewriterule I can find online but still nothing seems to be working. This is running on Apache 2.2. The rule I started with (and keep going back to) is; RewriteRule ^/page.php\?pageNum_rs_all=0&totalRows_rs_all=112 /page/sub?foo=bar [R=301,L,NE] Any help would be greatly appreciated! c.

  I need to use function "image_path" in my lib class.   I need to summarize a data frame by some variables, ignoring the others. This is sometimes referred to as collapsing. E.g. if I have a dataframe like this: Widget Type Energy egg 1 20 egg 2 30 jap 3 50 jap 1 60 Then collapsing by Widget, with Energy the dependent variable, Energy~Widget, would yield Widget Energy egg 25 jap 55 In Excel the closest functionality might be "Pivot tables" and I've worked out how to do it in python (http://alexholcombe.wordpress.com/2009/01/26/summarizing-data-by-combinations-of-variables-with-python/), and here's an example with R using doBy library to do something very related (http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg02643.html), but is there an easy way to do the above? And even better is there anything built into the ggplot2 library to create plots that collapse across some variables?

  Hi, I am using Rackspace Cloud CDN (Limelight CDN) for my website. The URLs of the CDN are in the format http://cxxxxxx.cdn.cloudfiles.rackspacecloud.com/something.jpg My domain is mydomain.com. Can I use IIS URL rewriting to show http://cxxxxxx.cdn.cloudfiles.rackspacecloud.com/something.jpg as http://images.mydomain.com/something.jpg? Or is this impossible without the CDN setup accepting my CNAME? If so, can you please help create the URL rewrite rule? (Sorry, don't know how to use regular expressions) Thanks, WT

• Using SmtpClient.Send to send ~500-2500 emails what way would be faster.

  I'm needing to send around 500-2500 emails out at a time to internal email accounts. I'm wondering which was would be faster both for the mail server and for my client app. Should I send multiple emails with just different TO addresses, or just one with multiple BCC addresses? I tried testing this by sending a bunch to my own email and the multiple emails method work, but with the BCC and a single message I only get that single message in my inbox. Shouldn't I be getting as many copies as the number of times I put my address in the BCC line?

  Yeah, mod_rewrite is driving me crazy. Here is the problem: my htaccess RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?url=$1 [L,QSA] when i try to access the page advantix (so address was www.mywebsite.com/advantix), i'm being redirected to advantix/?url=advantix Looking at the access log, i have a suspicious 301 in the middle "GET /advantix HTTP/1.1" 301 335 "-" "Mozilla/5.0" "GET /advantix/?url=advantix HTTP/1.1" 200 186 "-" "Mozilla/5.0" There is one important detail: advantix is a directory. So, if i comment that rule, advantix goes to the folder and list the files. Why it applies automatically the / if there's a folder matching? I don't want to reach the folder, i want to reach index.php?url=advantix with a call to advantix. I have the rewriteLogs too, but they didn't help more. My vhost conf has Directory tag with Options All, if helps, i don't know much about that.

• Is there a combination of "LIKE" and "IN" in SQL?

  Hi folks. In SQL I (sadly) often have to use "LIKE" conditions due to databases that violate nearly every rule of normalization. I can't change that right now. But that's irrelevant to the question. Further, I often use conditions like WHERE something in (1,1,2,3,5,8,13,21) for better readability and flexibility of my SQL statements. Is there any possible way to combine these two things without writing complicated sub-selects? I want something as easy as WHERE something LIKE ('bla%', '%foo%', 'batz%') instead of WHERE something LIKE 'bla%' OR something LIKE '%foo%' OR something LIKE 'batz%' I'm working with MS SQl Server and Oracle here but I'm interested if this is possible in any RDBMS at all.

  What's the best way to automate this function? I want to be able to do this in Outlook 2010, (1)select a specific mail account (2)Key in a folder that I am looking for (3)Then have the macro/program fire off an "*" asterisk (4)Then insert the text that I keyed in step one. I am trying to automate the search for a folder hot-keys that already exist. My problem is that I can't type the folder that I am looking for fast enough and all the search programs that I have used are far too slow. The hot-key search is awesome and super fast, I just can't type the folder that I am looking for fast enough. Can this process be automated?
