    I'm trying to write a query that extracts and transforms data from a table and then insert those data into another table. Yes, this is a data warehousing query and I'm doing it in MS Access. So basically I want some query like this: INSERT INTO Table2(LongIntColumn2, CurrencyColumn2) VALUES (SELECT LongIntColumn1, Avg(CurrencyColumn) as CurrencyColumn1 FROM Table1 GROUP BY LongIntColumn1); I tried but get a syntax error message. What would you do if you want to do this?

    I was debugging a database operation code and I found that proper UPDATE was never happening though the code never failed as such. Having worked with MySQL previously, I could (and usually do) write parameters of WHERE clause first because that's more logical to me. Is parameter order important when querying database in general? Some performance concern or something? Is there a specific order to be maintained in case of other databases like DB2, Sqlite etc? Update: I got rid of ? and included proper names with and without @. The order is really important. In both cases only when WHERE clause parameters was mentioned last, actual update happened. To make matter worse, in complex queries, its hard to know ourselves which order is Access expecting, and in all situations where order is changed, the query doesnt do its intended duty with no warning/error!!

  • MSBuild (.NET 4.0) access problems

    I'm using Cruise Control .NET as my build server (Windows 2008 Server). Yesterday I upgraded my ASP.NET MVC project from VS 2008/.NET 3.5 to VS 2010/.NET 4.0. The only change I made to my ccnet.config's MSBuild task was the location of MSBuild.exe. Ever since I made that change, the build has been broken with the error: MSB4019 - The imported project "C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v10.0\WebApplications\Microsoft.WebApplication.targets" was not found. Confirm that the path in the declaration is correct, and that the file exists on disk. This file does, in fact, exist in the location specified (I solved a problem similar to this when setting up the build server for VS2008/.NET 3.5 by copying the files from my dev environment to my build environment). So I RDP'ed into the build machine and opened a command prompt, used MSBUILD to attempt to build my project. MSBUILD returns the error: MSB3021 - Unable to copy file "obj\debug....dll". Access to the path 'bin....dll' is denied. Since I'm running MSBUILD from the command prompt, logged in with an account that has administrative privileges, I'm assuming that MSBUILD is running with the same privileges that I have. Next, I tried to copy the file that MSBUILD was attempting to copy. In this case, I get the UAC dialog that makes me click the [Continue] button to complete the copy. I'd like to avoid installing Visual Studio 2010 on my build machine, can anyone suggest other fixes I might try?

  • Common Access Card (CAC) Authentication Using Java

    I'm bascially looking for someplace to start learning how to interface with a government CAC card using java. Ultimately, my goal is to find out how to use CAC card authentication (by PIN number) to authorize access to a website hosted using a Tomcat/J2EE server. But I'll need somewhere to start. So I figure I'd start by writing a small java program to simply read the CAC card information from the CAC card which is inserted into a card reader on my keyboard (DELL keyboard with CAC reader above the numeric keypad). By searching google, I found the cacard java project (https://cacard.dev.java.net/) which was replaced by the OpenSSO project. But I can't seem to find sample code of how to use it to connect to a card, read from a card, etc. Does anyone know where I can find some sample code so that I can start learning how to interact with a CAC card using java? Thanks EDIT: After researching more, I was thinking, would I be able to just set clientAuth="true" in the connector element in the server.xml file? http://tomcat.apache.org/tomcat-6.0-doc/ssl-howto.html clientAuth: Set this value to true if you want Tomcat to require all SSL clients to present a client Certificate in order to use this socket.

  • iPhone: Can access files in documents directory in Simulator, but not device

    Hi there! I'm writing an app that copies some contents of the bundle into the applications Document's directory, mainly images and media. I then access this media throughout the app from the Document's directory. This works totally fine in the Simulator, but not on the device. The assets just come up as null. I've done NSLog's and the paths to the files look correct, and I've confirmed that the files exist in the directory by dumping a file listing in the console. Any ideas? Thank you!     What's the difference between accessing user data with the Facebook Graph API (http://graph.facebook.com/btaylor) and using the Graph API to make a FQL query of the same user (https://api.facebook.com/method/fql.query?query=QUERY). Also, does anyone know which of them the Facebook Developer Toolkit (for ASP.NET) uses? The reason I ask is because I'm trying to access the logged in user's birthday after they begin a Facebook Connect session on my site, but when I use the toolkit it doesn't return it. However, if I make a manual call to the Graph API for that user object, it does return it. It's possible I might have something wrong with my call from the toolkit. I think I may need to include the session key, but I'm not sure how to get it.
