• Why are all the tabs except MBeans disabled in JConsole?

  I'm trying to connect to JConsole on a server running: java version "1.6.0_0" OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea6 1.4.1) (6b14-1.4.1-0ubuntu12) OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 14.0-b08, mixed mode) from my local machine, running: java version "1.6.0_24" Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_24-b07-334-10M3326) Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 19.1-b02-334, mixed mode) When I connect to jconsole on the server, all the tabs except the MBeans tab are disabled. If I run the same application on my local machine, and use jconsole to connect to it there (using the remote interface still), all the tabs are enabled just fine. Everything I have seen only suggested the possibility that the server was 1.4 or earlier.

  I am working in google spreadsheets and I am trying to do some counting that takes into consideration cell values across multiple cells in each row. Here's my table: |AUTHOR| |ARTICLE| |VERSION| |PRE-SELECTED| ANDREW GOLF STREAM 1 X ANDREW GOLF STREAM 2 X ANDREW HURRICANES 1 JOHN CAPE COD 1 X JOHN GOLF STREAM 1 (Google doc here) Each person can submit multiple articles as well as multiple versions of the same article. Sometimes different people submit different articles that happen to be identically named (Andrew and John both submitted different articles called "Golf Stream"). Multiple versions written by the same person do not count as unique, but articles with the same title written by different people do count as unique. So, I am looking to find a formula that Counts the number of unique articles that have been submitted [4] (without having to manually create extra columns for doing CONCATS, if possible) It would also be great to find formulas that: Count the number of unique articles that have been pre-selected (marked "X" in "PRE-SELECTED" column) [2] Count the number of unique articles that have only 1 version [4] Count the number of unique articles that have more than 1 of their versions pre-selected 1 Thank you so much! • How to troubleshoot a GPF?

  I get a GPF dialog box out of the blue fairly often (like about 2 hours after I turn on the computer). It basically says that svchost.exe had a failure... (see the corresponding Event Log entry below). Event Type: Error Event Source: Application Error Event Category: (100) Event ID: 1000 Date: 5/18/2010 Time: 7:41:16 PM User: N/A Computer: DKHA-IPSA Description: Faulting application svchost.exe, version 5.1.2600.5512, faulting module ole32.dll, version 5.1.2600.5512, fault address 0x0004eaa9. Shortly after this error pops up, the computer pretty much grinds to a halt (e.g. some UI elements on the desktop simply do not respond). And I have to do a hard reboot. How do I troubleshoot this type of thing? P.S. The PC has all the latest patches and nothing is missing in the Device Manager.

Not knowing any better, it looks to me like there is some site that's referring users to my site, for some reason. • Login loop in Snow Leopard

  I can't get out of a login loop of a particular admin user. After entering the password the login screen is shown again after about a minute. Other users work fine. It started happening after a simple reboot. Can you please help me? Thank you! • Nagios orphaned services warnings

  We have had Nagios running on one of our servers with out any problems for a while but lately certain old service warning have been reappearing and then disappearing on the service detail page. From looking at the logs I found warning like the following. Warning: The check of service 'Tomcat' on host 'virtual1' looks like it was orphaned (results never came back). I'm scheduling an immediate check of the service... Has anyone ever came across this before or at least know a way to delete the old Orphaned Warnings. The Nagios Version we are running is Version 3.0b7 so an update might be in order. Thanks.

• APC (PHP Cache) Uptime 0 minutes, not caching

  My goal is to implement APC for opcode cache for a drupal 6 production site. I have so far tested APC with several php files with and without including other php files with include_once. Also tried to tweak the apc.ini values for shm_size, apc.include_once_override and apc.stat. Restarted apache every time. Resulting in apc.php not showing any changes in any values. I tried to set (with chown and chgrp) apache as the owner of the apc.php file and some test php files resulting in 500 server error. Is there a way to check if the file permissions prevent the apc stay running? I'm tremendously grateful for any suggestions or help.

But what if i was to setup a passwordless auth? I have tried pasting his key in /var/chroot-home/david/.ssh/authorized_keys but no use, tried ssh'ing as david to the box and it just stops at "debug1: Sending env LC_CTYPE = C" after i supply it password and there is nothing shown in auth.log, may be because it can't find the homedir. If i do "su - david" as root i see "No directory, logging in with HOME=/" which makes sense. Symlink doesn't help either. I have also tried with: Match group clients ChrootDirectory /var/chroot-home/%u X11Forwarding no AllowTcpForwarding no ForceCommand internal-sftp a dummy user root:~# tail -n1 /etc/passwd david:x:1000:1001::/var/chroot-home/david:/bin/sh This way if i don't change /var/chroot-home/david to root:root sshd complains about bad ownership or permission modes, and if i do, david can no longer upload/delete anything directly in his home while using sftp from filezilla.

• Can single ESXi host make use of two separete iSCSI box?

I have problem with using multiply iSCSI targets with single ESXi host (in my case they are two FreeNAS hosts, but I suspect that this problem will occur with any two iSCSI box of that same type/model). If I configure two FreeNAS hosts as iSCSI targets (say iSCSI A and iSCSI B), then I can use both of them with my ESXi host, but only one at a time (i.e only iSCSI A or only iSCSI B, but not both of them simultaneously). If I try to add second iSCSI target to my iSCSI adapter (of course it has unique iqn name), then in a details pane of this adapter (it is iSCSI software adapter), I see that total number of paths has increased accordingly, but not total number of devices (so I can't use it as another storage). What should I do? It is impossible to attach two iSCSI targets to single adapter? I'm using free version of ESXi 4.1. Maybe it is an limitation of free version? Thanks in advance for any sugestion.

• Is there way to use Windows Easy Transfer on Windows Server 2008

  At work, I'd been experimenting with using Windows Server 2008 as a desktop machine - I'm a s/w developer so some of the server software was particularly appropriate, but back in the day there was a suggestion that Server 2008 would be faster than Vista (mainly because of less bloat). I'm now wanting to move across to a new Windows 7 workstation; not only does Server 2008 not have Windows Easy Transfer, but I can't attack the problem from the Windows 7 end either - when I try to run the migration wizard it claims that the software 'isnt compatible with this version of Windows'. I'd bet that it would work fine, if only it wasn't for the arbitrary version check... Is there any way to coax this software into working? If not, any good alternatives to Windows Easy Transfer - I don't fancy having to manually copy application settings etc across myself...

• IIS can't load Oracle.Web assembly (for ASP.NET membership provider)

  I am trying to configure an IIS web site to use an Oracle database for ASP.NET membership, but I can't get it to work. IIS doesn't seem to be able to load the assembly containing the Oracle membership provider. That's what I have so far: An Oracle 10g database online and with all the tables for ASP.NET membership created. Windows 2008 R2 Standard with the web server role installed, including support for ASP.NET. Oracle 11g Release 2 ODAC 11.2.0.1.2 installed. The installed components are: Oracle data provider for .NET, Oracle providers for ASP.NET, Oracle instant client. The default web site on IIS (I am using that for testing) has the following web.config file: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <configuration> <system.web> <membership defaultProvider="OracleMembershipProvider"> <providers> <remove name="SqlMembershipProvider" /> <add name="OracleMembershipProvider" type="Oracle.Web.Security.OracleMembershipProvider, Oracle.Web, Version=2.112.1.2, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89b483f429c47342" connectionStringName="OracleServer" /> </providers> </membership> </system.web> </configuration> (Additional attributes on the "add" element omitted for brevity. Also, the connection string is defined for the whole server.) The Oracle.Web.dll file is on the GAC. I have allowed untrusted providers in the IIS' administration.config file (just for the sake of testing, I'll explicitly add the assembly to the trusted providers list later). So, what am I missing? How can I get the Oracle membership provider to work? Thank you! UPDATE: It seems that the problem is not with IIS itself, but with the IIS administrator only. When using the web site configuration tool provided by Visual Studio, everything works fine.

  The other day I picked up the new version of InternetCorkboard.com virus, the one that doesn't come with any program I've installed (as far as I can tell) and that doesn't show among Firefox add-ons. I've tried as much as I could google and even installed brand new version of Microsoft Security Essentials. I did the full scan with MSE and it didn't find anything. ATM I'm back at three-years old Firefox, but I wanna kick the bastard out. I got redirected here from Stack Overflow, but I need an answer since everything I could google is worse than useless. So anyone has any idea how to kick InternetCorkboard virus specifically?

• Remote Desktop Client Crashes following domain join

  I recently joined my laptop to our windows domain and now the remote desktop client crashes when i try and connect to any machine. It works if I run as administrator but not ordinarily. The domain join migrated my local profile to the domain profile which i think is where the problem lies. I'm guessing its a permission thing as I had a similar problem with dropbox and had to delete reg keys and reinstall. I can't figure out how to fix this problem though.   Related question: When reinstalling Windows 7, does the language, version, architecture (64-bit or 32-bit) or source (OEM, retail, or MSDN) matter? Unthinkingly I installed Windows 7 Enterprise on my development box at work rather than the Ultimate version. Now windows is complaining that it is unable to activate because it can't contact a KMS (Key Management Service) which my company doesn't have. Is there any way to change this install such that it believes it is Windows 7 Ultimate and will take an ultimate key? I have MSDN so the licensing is not an issue.

  I have an OpenBSD box running Python 2.6. I want to install py-setuptools, but that package is built against 2.5. I was curious as to what the Makefile for py-setuptools [Someone with rep, fix me please][http://www.openbsd.org/cgi-bin/cvsweb/ports/devel/py-setuptools/Makefile?rev=1.13;content-type=text%2Fx-cvsweb-markup ] looks like, to see if it mentioned anything about Python 2.5 as a dependency. I did not find anything version-dependent. I typed make install in /usr/ports/devel/py-setuptools on a whim, and it blew up because of failed missing Python 2.5 dependency. That is expected. My question is, How do I modify the Makefile to build against Python 2.6 ? I came across this in the man pages [please fix me][http://www.openbsd.org/cgi-bin/man.cgi?query=port-modules&sektion=5&arch=&apropos=0&manpath=OpenBSD+4.6#CORE+MODULES] , but I am still clueless how to specify what version to build against. Also, I dont see anything that actually installs the egg.

  I am working on updating a Blogger layout for a friend's website, and haven't had much luck in searching for this. Essentially, I want to create the template and show them before pushing it live. At present, there are lists of sample templates (Simple, Dynamic, etc), and I'd like to add mine as a clickable button for them to preview. When I attempt to import it, it is automatically published as the live template...but I don't want it to be seen before they review it. I want them to be able to switch between the current version and my version to see what is preferred. Is this even possible? It would be extraordinarily straightforward in WordPress, but I've never used blogger before...

not really differs, message is marked as delivered. But my app on device not really gets this message (as it works in mds simulator) Please advice me, what may be wrong? • Tomcat fails to start, no logs or error provided

  I have a Centos5 box running tomcat5 (a version before 5.5, there's no bin/version.sh script). When attempting to start tomcat, whether through init.d or service, I get the FAILED message with no other information provided. The date on catalina.out changes but it has no contents and is 0 bytes. logging.conf has not been edited and everything is marked as FINE detail. Has anyone experienced this and know of a solution? Or, failing that, how can I get some log/error info from tomcat to try to pinpoint the issue?
