• (Mythbuntu) After upgrading to XBMC 11, Mythbox now says "cannot import name decodeLongLong"?

  The vital stats: Mythbuntu 10.10 (maverick) XBMC 11 -- from team-xbmc maverick ppa Mythtv 0.23.1+fix (the standard version for mythbuntu 10.10) Mythbox version 1.1.0 OK, so, I was happily going along running XBMC 10.1 on my HTPC setup, and I saw everyone was all excited about XBMC 11, and it was available from the PPA. Now, when I go into mythbox and select a recording, it shows me the following error message box: Error: oninit cannot import name decodeLongLong This only seems to affect its ability to show a thumbnail picture for the recording. When I start playing the recording, everything pretty much goes fine. What does this error message mean? Is there any way I can fix it? Is there a library I am missing or something?

• How to fix skipping/stuttering audio in Google Chrome

  If I play Google Music, or a Youtube video in the Chrome browser, and then open a new tab and start typing the address bar, the audio will quickly cut in and out as I am typing (with almost every letter I type). It also is choppy if I play the video and start typing in the start menu. I can not repeat this behavior using internet explorer. Based on that Im thinking that it maybe a problem with the version of flash Chrome is using but I'm not sure. Any ideas? Im running 32 bit windows 7, i.e. 9, and chrome 23.0 pc is a lenovo t43p. I have the latest sound drivers. i.e. is using flash 11.5.502. chrome is using : Adobe Flash Player - Version: 11.5.31.2 Only one (this) plugin is listed for flash in the chrome plugins list.

• GitHub push to AWS Elastic Beanstalk

  I am using GitHub for code management. I am using Amazon AWS Elastic Beanstalk as a server. Amazon announced that you can use Git to push code to the application server. However, to do this I'd have to let go of GitHub as they are essentially replacing the git server. Is there any way to have the best of both worlds? I don't necessarily need to "deploy" everytime I push, but I'd like to have it uploaded as a "Version", and then I can deploy the version I want anytime.

• SSH Login to an EC2 instance failing with previously working keys...

  We recently had an issues where I had rebooted our EC2 instance (Ubuntu x86_64, version 9.10 server) and due to an EC2 issue the instance needed to be stopped and was down for a few days. Now I have been able to bring the instance back online I cannot connect to SSH using the keypair which previously worked. Unfortunately SSH is the only way to get into this server, and while I have another system running in its place there are a number of things I would like to try and retrieve from the machine. • SSH into Fedora 17 will not work with new users

  I just deployed a new Fedora 17 server on the Amazon EC2. I was able to log in as ec2-user with my generated keypair, but I cannot log in under normal circumstances as a user I created. • Elasticsearch won't start anymore

  I restarted my elasticsearch instance 5 days ago and I haven't manage to start it since then. I get no output in the log file /var/log/elasticsearch/ nor does the elasticsearch binary print any information when running at using elasticsearch -f. I once manage to get this output. • Memory usages in Linux drops frequently

  I run a CentOS 5.6 (64bit) machine that has Nginx (latest version) running, with php-fpm (latest version). Things run very well, but since about 2 weeks I noticed in my Munin graphs that about every 2 hours the 'cache' usages drops. Before it used be a steady fully graph, that didn't seem to reset every so often. PHP-FPM settings: pm.max_children = 300 daemonize = yes pm = static listen = /tmp/fpm.sock pm.max_requests = 1000 I have checked the php-fpm.log, and about once per 5 seconds a child process is killed, and restarted. But this is all the time, so this does not explain the sudden drops. I only run Nginx, PHP (via fpm), Munin and vsftpd on this machine. No crons run at exactly the time of the drops. My question: What could be causing these drops in cache usage?

  If I do a search for Windows 8 Professional x64 in my country, the only version I can find is having the code fqc-05955 and is labeled OEM. If I perform same search on amazon.com, the only version I can find is having the code fqc-05956 and is labeled System Builder. There's not much information about licensing of Windows 8 that I could find. According to this article when using System Builder it can be transferred from one computer to another. What are the differences in licensing between those 2? Is fqc-05955 transferable from one hardware to another like System Builder is? Can I install fqc-05955 on a computer I already own that has no prior windows licensing? I am asking this, since many stores that sell fqc-05955 say it can only be bough with a computer.   I'm getting an error message: "unsupported compression method 98" when unzipping a file somebody sent to me. I've tried both an older version of WinZip, and 7-Zip 4.65. I've already asked the person to avoid using a non-standard compression method and re-send the file. I know WinZip (of which they are using a newer version) has compatibility options. But, I'm wondering: What archiving utilities, other than WinZip, support this "compression method 98"? In particular, is there a free and/or open source tool that supports that method? If not, why not? Is the method strictly proprietary to WinZip?

  I need to setup OpenOffice in a linux box that will never have X installed. Every time I run the setup program of the OpenOffice installer it complains that the system does not have an X Terminal. I am using OOo_3.1.0_LinuxIntel_install_wJRE_en-US.tar. I have done this headless install for version 2.4, but we are having some performance issues and we will like to test the 3.1 version. The rpm -i *rpm does not work, since it is also looking for libgnome inside it. We are trying to install the system in a CenOS 5.1. Any ideas are welcome?

• Can't set 1280x1024 on Ubuntu with Nvidia Geforce 8400 GS

  Ubuntu doesn't offer 1280x1024 but that's what my monitor has -- I want to set that resolution but need help doing so. Ubuntu offers 1360x768, 1152x864, 1024x768 when using the Nvidia driver version 180. This is Ubuntu 9.04 installed as "Wubi" through Windows, I believe it's the amd64 version. Google gave me this precise explanation which is complete latin to me; I'm a Windows guy and not familiar with Terminal. These SU questions also don't provide answers, hence this new question. I hope you can help, and I will provide additional info if required.

  I am running Apache2 on a Mac OS X (10.5). I just compiled PHP 5.2.8 and finally got pdo-mysql working (or so I think). My command line "php --version" is showing 5.2.8 and I have the right modules installed. But, when do a phpinfo(), Apache dumps out PHP 5.2.6 (my earlier version, without pdo_mysql). How do I tell Apache which PHP to load? The httpd.conf has the line: LoadModule php5_module libexec/apache2/libphp5.so But, I don't know what or where that is. Is that what I have to change?

• Cannot activate Windows 8 build 9200

  I'm running an MSDN build 9200 of Windows 8 N (Europe), and thought it was the RTM - I don't go for beta OSes, generally speaking. Anyway, this gold code version runs a watermark, which makes me suspicious. I can't activate it. It just maintains the message: Windows can't activate at the moment. Try activating Windows later. If this issue persists, contact your system administrator or technical support department for assistance. So I phoned myself and the guy at the other end was useless, kept talking over me. Should I be able to activate this build or did I download the wrong version? Luke

• Apache Passenger can't find gem

  I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 and I've transferred over some sites built in Sinatra. I've set up Phusion passenger, but when I visit the sites I'm getting a Passenger LoadError claiming that passenger has 'no such file to load -- sinatra' yet when I run gem list or sudo gem list, I clearly see sinatra listed. Why can't passenger find this gem?
