  • Deserialization error in a new environment

    I have a web application that calls a third-party web service. When I run it locally, I have no problems, but when I move it to my production environment, I get the following error: There is an error in XML document (2, 428). My local machine is a running vista home edition and the production environment is windows server 2003. The application is written in asp.net 3.5, wierdly under the asp.net config tab in iis, 3.5 doesn't show up in the drop down list, although that version of the framework is installed. The error is not being thrown in my code, it happens during serialization. I called the method on the proxy, I have checked the arguments and they are OK. I have also logged the SOAP request and response, and they both look OK as well. I am really at a loss here. Any ideas? SOAP log: This is the soap response that the program seems to have trouble parsing only on server 2003. On my machine the soap is identical, and yet it parses with no problems.   • How to reduce the need for IISRESET for developing ASP.NET web app in IIS 5.1

    I have a web application project on my dev PC running WinXP and hence IIS 5.1. The changes I'm making to this site seem to "take effect" only after I do IISRESET. That is, I make a source change, Rebuild the project and then Start without Debugging (or with debugging). The newly changed code is not "visible" or in effect unless I intervene with an IISRESET. BTW, the "web" tab on the Properties display for the web app project is configured to use the Local IIS web server at project Url: http://localhost/myVirtualDirectory ... but I've noticed the same issue when using the VStudio Dev Server (i.e. I have to stop it by visiting the taskbar tray area in order to see my source changes take effect). Is this something I can change? EDIT UPDATE: Just wanting to clear this up if possible. Two answers diverge below; not sure how to move forward. One states this is to be expected (weakness of IIS 5.1 which in turn is the best WinXP can provide). Another states this is not expected behavior (and I tend to agree since this is the first I've encounted this on the same old WinXP dev platform I've had a long time). I suspect it may be something "deep inside" the Visual Studio 2008 web app which was upgraded to this new IDE from VStudio 2002 (ASP.NET 1.1). I've tried to add comment/questions down each answer path. Thanks.

  • Setting up Ubuntu Server for hosting Java web applications

    I'm trying to set up an Web Server running Ubuntu server to host some Java web applications, with MySQL running on it, an so on .. here is the tutorial I follow: perfect server ubuntu 11.10 The server configuration is: CPU S1155 INTEL Pentium G850 2.9GHz VGA 5GTs 3MB 65W MB Gigabyte GA-H77-D3H Ram 4x4Gb HDD 5x1TB Seagate (4 in RAID5 and 1 for Backup) The problem is that when I am trying to install the Server version of Ubuntu, when the installer asks me whether to activate ATA RAID Devices, and I click yes, he sees only that one, if I click no, he sees all 5 HDD's separate without any RAID, is this normal? I also tried to install the Desktop version on RAID5, but after restart, Ubuntu does't want to boot up, an underscore stands on the top of the screen. I am a newbie in servers and their configuration, in fact I am developer. I need a help from you guys.

  • Project. Properties.Settings versus plain old appSettings?

    I have an assembly built that uses appSettings in the app.config...pretty straight forward. however, I'm referencing this assembly in a web service, and that web service contains the nAnt build file for this service plus being the entry point for everything. Ideally I'd like to be able to set the assembly's appConfig values from the build file, but is this possible? Or do I have to switch to using the Settings values of the assembly and do something like this in the build: <xmlpoke file="${PublishLocation}\web.config" xpath="//applicationSettings/Namespace.AssemblyClass.Properties.Settings/setting[@name='ExchangeServer']/value" value="${ServerName}" /> You get the idea. Is this possible with just a config? My ideal situation would be to keep the settings more flexible in the appConfig so that when everything is on the server, if frogs rain down, I can update the assembly's config values without rebuilding the solution. Is this even possible (the xpath is wrong, it's just an example of what I'd like to do): <xmlpoke file="${PublishLocation}\web.config" xpath="//appSettings/Namespace/AssemblyClass/add[@key = 'ExchangeServer']/@value" value="${a}" />

  • I bought a domain name at GoDaddy and hosting at Dreamhost but the first doesn't work!

    I added the Dreamhost's nameservers like 12 hours ago to: I entered to the following panel: Nameservers -> Set Nameservers (I have specific nameservers for my domains) and added Dreamhost's nameservers liek this: Nameserver 1: NS1.DREAMHOST.COM Nameserver 2: NS2.DREAMHOST.COM Nameserver 3: NS3.DREAMHOST.COM So now in the admin panel I see this: Nameservers Nameservers: (Last Update 2/10/2011) NS1.DREAMHOST.COM NS2.DREAMHOST.COM NS3.DREAMHOST.COM But I get this when I run the analysis tools: Attention Required! There are critical issues Accessing Your Web Site Accessing Your Web Site Properly configuring your domain name and hosting account ensures that visitors can access your site. Did I do something wrong or I have to wait 24 to 48 hours? (Dreamhost does display my page because I can access the other domain name I bought together with the hosting) (By the way, if everyone uses the same nameserver, how will go GoDaddy know which is the hosting space that I purchased among all others)?     Hi, I'm very interested in learning about the new feature in html5 called web sockets. I've looked into it and have come out with a few questions. It seems that before I can start implementing this new technology into a web application of mine I need to have a web server which supports it. Does this involve downloading something and installing it on the said server? Is there more than one available? If so where do I find these? I already have experience with JavaScript and html/css of course, Are there any other languages I will need to learn to start using web sockets? Any additional information that you think I might need to know would be appreciated.

  • Deploying backing bean with composite component in separate jar

    I have some difficulties deploying my web app on JBoss AS 6.1. My current Project is separated into the main web app (controller/managed beans & web frontend using JSF 2 facelets) and one jar with the composite components + backing beans. But when I try to access the page I got an error that the specified component type could not be instantiated. Copying the backing bean into the main web app solves the problem, but this isn't what I want. So is there anything to pay attention to? The backing bean looks like @FacesComponent(value = "elementBase") public class ElementBase extends UINamingContainer { ... } and the composite components interface <composite:interface componentType="elementBase"> ... some attributes </composite:interface> The structure of the jar is the following -- META-INF |-- resources | |-- components | |-- elementBase.xhtml -- com |-- example | |-- ElementBase.class I've also tried to add faces-config.xml within META-INF folder, with the component type, but the component type was still not found.

  • Oracle data provider hangs IIS worker process when web site is stopped

    We're experiencing a nasty issue in Oracle 11g Release 2 where the w3wp process takes over and entire processor core, and debugging shows that the Oracle data provider is throwing ThreadAbortExceptions infinitely. A developer found this issue by doing the following: 1) Browse a web site that uses Oracle data connections locally (http://localhost/OracleWebSite) - we use IIS, not the ASP.NET dev server, for all of our sites. This ensures that the w3wp process is running and that an active Oracle pool of connections exists in the app pool. 2) Stop the web site (or perform a Rebuild All operation in Visual Studio on the web site in question). Our Oracle connection handling in the affected applications (all Oracle web apps) is well-established and robust. This issue does not occur if we disable connection pooling. This issue does not occur in Oracle 11g Release 1.

    I have an app that I want to interact with a web page. Basically I want to press a button and the web page will open in a new view... Sorry I wasn't clear, I am developing on a Mac for an iPhone. Currently I have a "locate me" app that displays your Latitude and Longitude. I want to use those variables to populate 2 of the blanks on a PHP web page/form I have developed. I have added a label and button to my current app, when the button is pressed the URL with the Lat and Long (as passed vars) are displayed in the label. I want those vars to appear on my web page. Hope this is clearer...   • Ultra-lightweight web browser?

    Are there any good super-lightweight graphical web browsers out there? I'd like to be able to browse the web on an old PC, but the mainstream crop of browsers is just too heavy, and I don't want to resort to something like Lynx. There must be something decent out there that'll fit in 16 or 32MB of RAM comfortably. 100% standards compliance isn't necessary, but I'd like something that supports the most widely used parts of CSS and JavaScript. The goal is to get 98% of sites usable in a nice, graphical format.

  • How do I nicely manage many localhost web site URIs with IIS7

    I'm having trouble setting up a clean development environment with all the web sites I'm working on. I'm working on up to 40 different web sites, and at least 5 of them simultaneously. I need them all to be in a site root, for URL management to work with all CMSes. My first attempt was to use increasing port numbers for them, beginning with localhost:1000 and working upwards. Unfortunately, it took a great deal of looking up which port belonged to which web site, and it was very irritating. My second try was mapping the irritating ports to real words using the hosts file. So I ended up with localhost.tele2, localhost.ikea, localhost.volvo etc. Unfortunately, this takes a long time to set up (cleaning and adding to the hosts file, setting web site with highest port number in IIS etc.) and regularly I have to flush the DNS cache in order to get some sites working that I've added/removed from the hosts file. So how do I organize a lot of web sites in IIS7 nicely? Perhaps I've missed a very clever method that you're using.

    we've been running our web servers at Amazon with load balancer and auto-scaling for over a year with no problem. All of a sudden today the request began to get aborted with the error: 503 ... Backend server is at capacity The web servers are at 1% CPU and no other alarms trigger. We use Amazons load balancer and nginx.   • Best Application for storing code snippets

    Hi all, Just wondering if you can point me in the direction of a simple, fast program which stores code snippets. I have been using a local wiki up to now, but I find it a little annoying at times. Ideally I would like this application to be portable - i.e. it could run off of a USB stick on multiple machines with no installation. What do you guys use? EDIT: I would prefer a solution that was decoupled from the IDE and stored locally, not in the cloud.     I am creating a service called TorCompute which allows for creating virtual Tor Hidden Service servers on my infrastructure (I say infrastructure, by that I mean just the 3x 32GB RAM machines waiting to be purchased). What I would like to be able to do is for users to log on, access the web interface and spin up a VM with a variable about of RAM/Disk Space. I've written the PHP for logging in and have a nice web interface, just I need the code to actually create them! How would I go about doing this?   • Apache Web Server character encoding

    I've recently transferred my webapp from my localhost (LH) to a VPS, and have had hebrew chars-encoding probs since. Whenever I send a request with a heb-char it results in "?????" saved to the DB. My LH config was tomcat6, MySQL, and centOS 6.2, opened to the web. In the VPS env I'm behind an Apache Web Server, and the rest is quite the same (though I haven't done anything to its installation). Please note I already have had this problem before, on my LH when the request was sent from IE/chrome (not FF!). The solution was to apply a filter on the the context and change the char-type to UTF-8. My webapp content char-encode is utf-8, MySql server set to utf8 using charset utf8;, and my centOS set to iw_IL.UTF8 using export LANG=iw_IL.UTF8. When I use locale the bash output seems to be set correctly. Any suggestions?

If I try with the host IP I get the error: This PDF explains to install IIS component - But it's ESX 4 - and also not talking about appliance. so, a simple question: how can I access the web-app admin tool? also found a similar question on vmware forum.
