• Is WinForms ListView in VirtualMode limited to 100,000,000 rows?

  I have some grid scenario with 500,000,000 rows I would like to display in ListView. If I artificially limit my ListView to display 100,000,000: _listView.VirtualListSize = _data.Count; if (_listView.VirtualListSize > 100000000) _listView.VirtualListSize = 100000000; Everything works fine (In VirtualMode naturally). When I change my code to: _listView.VirtualListSize = _data.Count; if (_listView.VirtualListSize > 100000001) _listView.VirtualListSize = 100000001; The ListView display an empty grid... Is this a Microsoft Bug? Where is this coming from? Is this a Win32 ListView limitation? Most importantly, why is this not documented?

May I know B c = new C() creates object of B or C? What I understood is, it creates object of B. Then why we say "new C()"?   If I have an XPath query like NodeA/NodeB[@WIDTH and not(@WIDTH="20")] | NodeC[@WIDTH and not(@WIDTH="20")]/NodeD Is there any API available to visualize this XPath query as a stack of atomic expressions, something like (following is generic) Get results of NodeA, call it "first set" Get results of NodeB from "first set" Filter where [@WIDTH and not(@WIDTH="20")] Filter NodeD, call this "node d for B" Get results of NodeC from "first set" Filter where [@WIDTH and not(@WIDTH="20")] Filter NodeD, call this "node d for C" Combine "node d for B" and "node d for C" I am trying to see if we can convert the XPath expression into custom expression which is close to english and vice versa. • How do i hide html until its processed with javascript?

  I am using some JS code to transform my menu into a drilldown menu. The problem is before it runs the JS you see a BIG UGLY mess of links. On their site its solved by putting the js at the top. Using recommendations by yahoo/YSlow i am keeping the JS files at the bottom. I tried hiding the menu with display:none then using jquery to .show(), .css('display', ''), .css('display', 'block') and they all lead up to a messsed up looking menu (i get the title but not the title background color or any links of the menu) How do i properly hide a div/menu and show it after being rendered?

• iOS - Open an app with a URL Scheme from Chrome

  I've read many many blogs and examples of how to open an app from an URL scheme (for example, this blog), and it seems to work great when I call my app from mobile safari. For instance, when I call testapp://some.data.here in mobile safari, it opens my testapp and I can parse out the some.data.here. However, when I call testapp://some.data.here in iOS-Chrome, it just googles the term instead of calling the app. Is there a way to have iOS Chrome recognize the URL as a registered app the way mobile safari does? When I google this topic, I see a lot of comments on how to open a url in chrome from an app, but not the other way around. Has anyone encountered this? Thanks!

I guess that it makes no sense to store those on a separate table called advantages, because it will never be used to anything else despite display, and I fill it as too overkill. So I was thinking about creating a varchar255 field on this product table, and allow values to be inserted like: Very nice;Very good;Very cool On a free-form text input field. Then split those on a php array. My question is: Is it out there, a better approach ?

  I have a component that needs to call a specific service depending on the input it receives. So my component has to look at the input and based on a configuration that says "for this input call this service with this data" needs to call the proper service. The services have a common signature method and a specific one (each). I thought about an abstract class that includes the signatures for all three methods. The implementation for the two services will override all three methods (throwing NotImplementedException for the methods that are not supported by current service). A component that could be initialized with a map (that for each input type will have the type of the service to be called) will also be defined. Do you have a better approach to cope this scenario ?

• Android XML-RPC Serialization Issue

  I am attempting to use Android XML-RPC and for some calls I get the following exception: W/System.err( 837): java.io.IOException: Cannot serialize java.lang.Object@43759748 It looks like it is having troubles serializing the returned data, but I cannot find much documentation on how to actually use Android XML-RPC. The way I am using Android XML-RPC is as follows: Object response = (Object)client.call("sales_order.list", new Object()); This one is pretty odd. I have tried setting this call up in a few different ways (using HashMaps, not passing second variable, etc) and the response I get is that sales_order.list is not a valid Method. I have been able to login to the service using the following code: this.sessionId = (String)client.call("login", this.apiUserName, this.apiPassword); Does anyone have any ideas or a good resource on how to use Android XML-RPC? In my console I can see that the response is coming in, as when I visit the url, but I can't get the data with the ajax call... • Accessing C++ Functions From Text storage

  I'm wondering if anyone knows how to accomplish the following: Let's say I have a bunch of data stored in SQL, lets say one of the fields could be called funcName, function name would contain data similar to "myFunction" What I'm wondering is, is there a way I can than in turn extract the function name and actually call that function? There's a few ways I can think of to accomplish this, one is changing funcName to funcId and linking up with an array or similar, but I'm looking for something a bit more dynamic that would allow me to add the data on fly without having to update the actual source code every time I add a call to a new function assuming of course that the function already exists and is accessible via scope location we call it from. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

• Problems with system() calls in Linux

  I'm working on a init for an initramfs in C++ for Linux. This script is used to unlock the DM-Crypt w/ LUKS encrypted drive, and set the LVM drives to be available. Since I don't want to have to reimplement the functionality of cryptsetup and gpg I am using system calls to call the executables. Using a system call to call gpg works fine if I have the system fully brought up already (I already have a bash script based initramfs that works fine in bringing it up, and I use grub to edit the command line to bring it up using the old initramfs). However, in the initramfs it never even acts like it gets called. Even commands like system("echo BLAH"); fail. So, does anyone have any input?

• Using jQuery.get with a file up a directory?

  I'm using jQuery to write a simple utility app that's just run locally. It'll read from a list of files using jQuery.get and then display them along with some meta-data (which resides in a separate file). The images and meta files live in ../scored_images/*.[jpg|meta] I can load the file list with jQuery.get just fine (it's in the current directory), and I can load up the images and display them without a problem. However when I go to load the meta file for display, jQuery.get seems to silently fail. I can load them fine if the path doesn't have ../ in it. Is there a way to work around this behavior?

The Dictionary looks like this: Dictionary<string, List<ushort>> msgs I am a bit confused how to make a make a proper call to pass msgs as the buffer. deviceNumber is 2, wordCount is 32, and buffLink is 0. So i know the call should look something like this write_buffer(2,32,0, msgs[key]); Obviously i am getting an invalid argument for the IntPtr. What is the proper way to make this call?

• [Qt] How to make another window pop up that extends QWidget as opposed to QDialog?

  So far I've only had my main window pop up other windows that were QDialogs and I'm not getting it to work with a QWidget. The other window I want to display was designed with the Form Editor, then wrapped in a class called ResultViewer which extends QWidget (as opposed to QDialog). What I want is to have the ResultViewer show its ui in a seperate window. Now when I try to display it the ResultViewer ui just pops up in the main window on top of the mainwindow ui. The code I'm using to display it is this (in my mainwindow.cpp file) ResultViewer * rv = new ResultView(this); rv->show(); The constructor for the ResultViewer looks like this ResultViewer::ResultViewer(QWidget * parent) : QWidget(parent), ui(new Ui::ResultViewer) { ui->setupUi(this); } I've looked through the QWidget documentation a bit but the only thing I can find that may be related is the QWidget::window() function, but the explanation isn't very clear, it just gives an example of changing the title of a window.

  I have a swf file that is not controlled by me. The swf expects a javascript call to set some variables after initialization. The swf is embedded using the swfobject and I'm trying to call the as function right after the embed. This appears to be too soon because I get an error. Everything else should be fine since calling the as function manually via firebug does not produce the error. So the question is how do I call the function when the embed is complete?

Should I have a column in my database for each column on the table, then say either A,B,C or D depending on what column it is in but then how would I display it using PHP in my code provided? Im struggling to find a good way of explaining this, I am sorry.

• Can you make VB.NET compilation as strict as C#?

  In VB.NET, it is entirely possible to pass an integer as a string parameter to a method without calling .ToString() - it's even possible to call .ToString without the ()'s. The code will run without a problem, VB will interpret the integer as a string without having been told to. In C#, these would cause compilation errors - you are required to call .ToString() and to call it correctly in that situation before it will compile. Is there a way to make the VB compilation process check for the same things as the C# compilation process? Would it be best practice in a mixed team to force this check?

  Hello, I have a stored procedure, which has got executed without any errors, but gives me an error "#1054: Unknown column 'templateName' in where clause" when I run it. • Can someone tell me why my dataset wont save correctly to the database in simple winforms app?

  I have been struggling with this all day and I know it is probably something stupid. My code is below. If I call save then exit my program and start again I can save images to my events but if I just call save when I try to add an image and call save again I get a foreign key error. From what I know I thought my save method was updating the database from my dataset so the event associated with the image should exist. Anyway here is my save method...   Assume there are Java project and Junit project in an Eclipse workspace. And All the unit tests are located in the Junit project and dependent on the application Java project. When making changes to a Java method, I need to find the unit tests that are using the method directly or indirectly, so that I can run the corresponding tests locally in my PC before checking into source control. I don't want to run the entire junit project since it takes time. I could use Eclipse call hierarchy to expand caller methods one by one until I find a test method. But for a project including more than 1 million lines of source code, digging down the call hierarchy takes time too. The search scope within call hierarchy view doesn't seem help much. Appreciate any help.

• gprof and execl() - is it possible?

  Background: I have a game (an old-school-esque MUD) which I've been attempting to profile with gprof. The documentation of gprof (on Linux 2.6) states that The profiled program must call "exit"(2) or return normally for the profiling information to be saved in the gmon.out file. Now, if I kill the server with the shutdown command, the application "returns normally" (i.e., main() returns) and I get a gmon.out to analyze. However, it's far more common to reboot the server. The reboot command does the following: Writes usernames and socket FD numbers to disc. Makes a call to execl(). The new process looks for the stored data, picks up the FDs, and moves on. I see the following error on the command line, as the whole process fails: Profiling timer expired ./program Question: Is it possible to get a gmon.out file from the execl()-calling process? Perhaps some environmental parameter to execl(), or else perhaps a different, gprof-friendly, system call to achieve the same effect (beginning a new process while preserving file descriptors)?

• Changing overflow from div dynamically [closed]

  Hello comunnity! I am filling a div using JQuery. This div has the CSS property 'overflow' set to 'auto' (to display scrollbars because the div has a lot of HTML inside). But the DIV doesn't display the scrollbars. I think that the problem is that I'm setting the CSS property using CSS and the DIV is filling dynamically. How can I do to display scrollbars if the HTML inside the DIV doesn't fit, but dynamically? I'm trying to set the property manually after fill the div, but didn't work: function createWB(tag){ // Fill the div // ... // Set the scrollbars $('.tab_content').css('overflow','auto'); } If a set the property to 'scroll', the scrollbars appear, but disabled.
