  • What would cause my Silverlight .xap to quadruple in size suddenly?

    I've been working on a Silverlight application. I just noticed that the .xap file is now four times as big as it was, what could have caused that? Here's some other info: there seems to now be many more language settings in the bin/Release directory I checked "Reduce size of .xap" in under Properties/Silverlight but that just brought it down from 1300 to 1200. I reference the System.Windows.Controls.Toolkit dll but I was doing that even when it was 325K Screenshot of build directories before and after:

  • CharacterType/ConfigurationType in vsprops

    Hi, I've been using Visual Studio's property sheets for building my code and I have a useful hierarchy of sheets controlling the build settings, rather than having them in the vcproj files. This is great except for one thing. I can't seem to set properties in the Project Defaults section such as CharacterType and ConfigurationType. I tried using a VCConfiguration tool in the vsprops but to no avail: <Tool Name="VCConfiguration" ConfigurationType="4" /> Can anyone tell me how this is accomplished please?

  • How to cascade dependency resolution w/ CDI (WELD)

    I would like to have a central weld container that holds all my services and so on. This container would however be wrapped by a second container which contains local settings. THe goal is if a depdendency cannot be found in the outter container then i would like to then search the inner container. How can i achieve this ? I would prefer to do things in a standlike manner, without reverting to use of non standard WELD extensions.

  • How can I undo my last git add/commit ?

    I edited a file and did: git add file.py git commit -m 'fixed bug' I then edited another file and performed a minor bug fix. I don't want two commits, one after the other, showing 'bug fix'. I want one commit with 'bug fixes'. How can I undo the last add/commit and change the first commit message?     I'm having trouble reading special characters from stdin. Here are my attempts: import os dir = raw_input("Dir name: ") Dir name: c:/á os.chdir(dir) WindowsError: [Error 2] The system cannot find the file specified: 'c:/\x81\xe1' Ok, so I tried to get the default system encoding and recode the string from stdin: import locale encoding = locale.getdefaultlocale()[1] print encoding cp1252 unicode(dir, encoding) Traceback (most recent call last): File "<stdin>", line 1, in <module> File "c:\Python26\lib\encodings\cp1252.py", line 15, in decode return codecs.charmap_decode(input,errors,decoding_table) UnicodeDecodeError: 'charmap' codec can't decode byte 0x81 in position 3: character maps to <undefined> Now, I don't know how to solve this. Nor can I understand - why is there a problem when I try to access a directory with a name written in the system default encoding itself??

  • Why am I getting a TypeLoadException when defining a custom profile?

    I'm writing a .NET command-line application that will migrate users from an existing database into aspnetdb. To simplify the user-specific settings, I'm using the profile class that Joel Spolsky wrote about here. It works great in the ASP.NET MVC website, but for some reason it's throwing a TypeLoadException when being used from this new application. I'm not sure why the framework is trying to load the new class from System.Web.

  • How to show printer properties/preferences dialog?

    I can't figure out how to properly show the printer preference dialog of a given printer so that the user can change the printer settings. Most of the examples that I can find online manage to show the dialog but any changes the user might make are lost which makes it useless. Example: http://www.codeproject.com/KB/system/PrinterPropertiesWindow.aspx (I tried to change the code as suggested by BartJoy but that didn't fix it) Does anyone know how to do this properly?

    I've never understood the need of #pragma once when #ifndef #define #endif always works. I've seen the usage of #pragma comment to link with other files , but setting up the compiler settings was easier with an IDE. What are some other usages of #pragma that is useful, but not widely known? Edit: I'm not just after a list of #pragma directives. Perhaps I should rephrase this question a bit more: What code have you written with #pragma you found useful?

    Hi, The background of my question is associated with Tesseract, the free OCR engine (1985-1995 by HP, now hosting in Google). It specifically requires an input file and an output file; the argument only takes filename (not stream / binary string), so in order to use the wrapper API such as pytesser and / or python-tesser.py, the OCR temp files must be created. I, however, have a lot of images need to OCR; frequent disk write and remove is inevitable (and of course the performance hit). The only choice I could think about is changing the wrapper class and point the temp file to RAM disk, which bring this problem up. If you have better solution, please let me know. Thanks a lot. -M

    For some reason my Visual Studio 2008 began to show warnings for code like: "int main( int argc, char **argv)", which is really annoying. The detailed warning ouputs are (you can ignore the line numbers): 1.\main.cpp(86) : warning C4100: 'argv' : unreferenced formal parameter 1.\main.cpp(86) : warning C4100: 'argc' : unreferenced formal parameter I wonder if there are settings in Visual Studio 2008 that have been accidentally changed.   • Why is TortoiseSVN so slow?

    I'm using TortoiseSVN to connect to my Subversion repository hosted with CVSDude. It's unreasonably slow--especially on small transfers... 5 kBytes transferred in 5 minute(s) and 9 second(s)?! It's not just slow to respond, though. It bogs the computer down for 5 minutes while processing those 5 kilobytes. Could there possibly be anything wrong with my installation or settings? Or, is the blame purely with my Subversion host, CVSDude?

  • Starting Tornado Web

    Hi, I'm quite new to using Tornado Web as a web server, and am having a little difficulty keeping it running. I normally use Django and Nginx, and am used to start/stop/restarting the server. However with Tornado I'm having trouble telling it to "run" without directly executing my main python file for the site, ie "python ~/path/to/server.py". I'm sure I'm getting this completely wrong - is there a way of 'bootstrapping' my script so that when Nginx starts, Tornado starts? Any help would be appreciated!
