  • JavaScript file changes deployment

    - by Balaji
    Hi, we are having MVC web application. some of the code is in javascript. when we deploy any changes to the javascript the changes are not reflected on the client side. We have to ask clients to do CTRL+F5 to get the changes. Is there a standard way of pushing javascript changes to the clientside?

  • Javascript VS C#

    - by Joris
    Maybe a strange and green question, but Is there anything C# can't do what javascript can... And considering JQuery? except for the fact that one is clientside, and the other serverside? Or am I asking a very stupid question now?

  • Javascript/ajax/php question: sending from server to client works, sending from client to server fai

    - by Jeroen Willemsen
    Hey All, Sorry for reposting(Admins, please delete the other one!). since you guys have been a great help, I was kinda hoping that you could help me once again while having the following question: I am currently trying to work with AJAX by allowing a managerclass in PHP to communicate via an XmlHttpobject with the javascript on the clientside. However, I can send something to the client via JSON, but I cannot read it at the clientside. In fact I am getting the error that the "time" is an undefined index in Session. So I was wondering: what am I doing wrong? The javascriptcode for Ajax: <script type="text/javascript"> var sendReq = GetXmlHttpObject(); var receiveReq = GetXmlHttpObject(); var JSONIn = 0; var JSONOut= 0; //var mTimer; //function to retreive xmlHTTp object for AJAX calls (correct) function GetXmlHttpObject() { var xmlHttp=null; try { // Firefox, Opera 8.0+, Safari xmlHttp=new XMLHttpRequest(); } catch (e) { // Internet Explorer try { xmlHttp=new ActiveXObject("Msxml2.XMLHTTP"); } catch (e) { xmlHttp=new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } } return xmlHttp; } //Gets the new info from the server function getUpdate() { if (receiveReq.readyState == 4 || receiveReq.readyState == 0) { receiveReq.open("GET", "index.php?json="+JSONIn+"&sid=$this->session", true); receiveReq.onreadystatechange = updateState; receiveReq.send(null); } } //send a message to the server. function sendUpdate(JSONstringsend) { JSONOut=JSONstringsend; if (sendReq.readyState == 4 || sendReq.readyState == 0) { sendReq.open("POST", "index.php?json="+JSONstringsend+"&sid=$this->session", true); sendReq.setRequestHeader('Content-Type','application/x-www-form-urlencoded'); alert(JSONstringsend); sendReq.onreadystatechange = updateCycle; sendReq.send(JSONstringsend); } } //When data has been send, update the page. function updateCycle() { getUpdate(); } function updateState() { if (receiveReq.readyState == 4) { // JSONANSWER gets here (correct): var JSONtext = sendReq.responseText; // convert received string to JavaScript object (correct) alert(JSONtext); var JSONobject = JSON.parse(JSONtext); // updates date from the JSONanswer (correct): document.getElementById("dateview").innerHTML= JSONobject.date; } //mTimer = setTimeout('getUpdate();',2000); //Refresh our chat in 2 seconds } </script> The function that actually uses the ajax code: //datepickerdata $(document).ready(function(){ $("#datepicker").datepicker({ onSelect: function(dateText){ var JSONObject = {"date": dateText}; var JSONstring = JSON.stringify(JSONObject); sendUpdate(JSONstring); }, dateFormat: 'dd-mm-yy' }); }); </script> And the PHP code: private function handleReceivedJSon($json){ $this->jsonLocal=array(); $json=$_POST["json"]; $this->jsonDecoded= json_decode($json, true); if(isset($this->jsonDecoded["date"])){ $_SESSION["date"]=$this->jsonDecoded["date"]; $this->useddate=$this->jsonDecoded; } if(isset($this->jsonDecoded["logout"])){ session_destroy(); exit("logout"); } header("Last-Modified: " . gmdate( "D, d M Y H:i:s" ) . "GMT" ); header("Cache-Control: no-cache, must-revalidate" ); header("Pragma: no-cache" ); header("Content-Type: text/xml; charset=utf-8"); exit($json); }

  • Returning errors from AMFPHP on purpose.

    - by Morieris
    When using flash remoting with amfphp, what can I write in php that will trigger the 'status' method that I set up in my Responder in Flash? Or more generally, how can I determine if the service call has failed? The ideal solution for me would be to throw some exception in php serverside, and catch that exception in flash clientside... How do other people handle server errors with flash remoting? var responder = new Responder( function() { trace("some normal execution finished successfully. this is fine."); }, function(e) { trace("how do I make this trigger when my server tells me something bad happened?"); } ); myService = new NetConnection; myService.connect("http://localhost:88/amfphp/gateway.php"); myService.call("someclass.someservice", responder);

  • FCKeditor in jQuery ui dialog not working

    - by zilverdistel
    Hi folks, I'm having serious trouble getting this to work in IE7/8. In FF, everything works as expected. When the user clicks on a certain link, a modal dialog popup is shown. In this dialog, there is a form, which contains one textarea, that is replaced with a FCK instance. The form is loaded from the server using ajax on the clientside and php on the serverside. There's one strange way to get the FCK editor shown, and that is by resizing the dialog. Library versions: jquery: 1.3.2 jquery ui: 1.7.3 FCKeditor: 2.6.1 build 19297 Any help would be strongly appreciated, I'm on a deadline here :-(

  • where to get a wordpress theme review

    - by Ayrton
    Hi I'm currently developing some Wordpress templates and I wanted to get a review by a (semi)professional. I already know quite a bit about Wordpress,CSS, & JS but I was always a lone wolf without any guidance that's why I was wondering where I could find someone (trustworthy) to do something like this and how much he should charge me. It's pure about the code (the PHP, JS & the CSS) I would like to have a review on about (nothing design related). A link to the Wordpress theme I'm talking about: http://demo.wpmonk.com/flowhub Yours truthfully ps: I know you can't give a review on the php on the clientside (however I could mail the source)

  • Javascript culture always en-us

    - by LoveMeSomeCode
    I'm not sure if I understand this code or if I'm using it right, but I was under the impression that in an ASP.NET 2.0 AJAX website I could run javascript like: var c = Sys.CultureInfo.CurrentCulture and it would give me the culture/language settings the user had specified in their browser at the time of the visit. However, for me, it always comes back 'en-US' no matter what language I pick in firefox or IE. This serverside code however: string[] languages = HttpContext.Current.Request.UserLanguages; if (languages == null || languages.Length == 0) return null; try { string language = languages[0].ToLowerInvariant().Trim(); return CultureInfo.CreateSpecificCulture(language); } catch (ArgumentException) { return null; } does return the language I have currently set. But I need to do this clientside, because I need to parse a string into a datetime and do some validations before I postback, and the string could be a MM/DD/YYYY or DD/MM/YYYY, or some other such thing. What am I missing?

  • RESTful application validation. Mix of frontend/backend validation. How?

    - by Julian Davchev
    Hi. Using RESTful for all backend persistance and operations. I just pass data from frontend (by frontend I don't mean clientside but the part that is making use of the REST) to rest and data gets back success or no with validation errors if any. Thing is I have stuff that should be validated on frontend too..like csrf tokens, captcha etc. Only reasonable way is I mix validation coming from token/captcha checks and validation errors coming back from REST. Issue with this will be kinda automation as I wouldn't want form field names to map 1:1 with backend field names use by the REST documents. Any pointers ideas are more than welcome.

  • Ensuring Updated CSS/JavaScript on Client Side

    - by Alex
    I'm trying to ensure that visitors of my ASP.NET MVC website always have the most-current CSS and Javascript (and not some older cached version). I tried to realize this by generating a seed value when the application domain starts, and automatically append it to the CSS and Javascript URLs (so now instead of /Content/All.js the link is /Content/All.js?549238 etc.). Unfortunately I just found out by debugging via Firebug that this causes now a full download request every time (the new "seeded" response is no longer cached at all, but I only wanted the first check to download the 'updated' version, but then cache again/only check if there is a difference). How can I achieve my goal, is there a better way of doing this? I need the client to always request the newest version, but then cache if no change happened. Edit: This appears to be related to the fact that my page is served over SSL. I asked a follow up question here regarding enabling clientside caching with SSL.

  • How to assign a PHP variable that contains a mixed of PHP and html elements?

    - by Rick
    I have a PHP page that contains html and tags and PHP codes and I am using AJAX to manipulate some data and now I need to spit out the response but I am not sure if it is possible to put the mixed content into a string variable to pass through... Is this possible? For example I need to: $response = "<p>some text--<?php echo $something; ?>"; Thanks... To clear things up, I am not trying to send raw PHP code to clientside as that would be silly and won't be evaluated as it is a server side script. I am just looking for a fast way to put everything into a variable without manually re-doing the whole page stripping out the php open and close tags and echos...etc

  • How to return an enum ID instead of the enum text in WebAPI

    - by Rodney
    I am using the WebAPI with .NET 4.5. I have a enum called DareStatus which is a list of statuses and their corresponding integer ID's. To minimize bandwidth traffic I want to send the int values of the enums, not the full text as it is currently doing. (I have control over the client so I can map it on the clientside). The strange thing is that in my RTFM-ing everyone seems to have the opposite issue! http://www.ftter.com/desktopmodules/framework/api/dare/getalldares public enum DareStatus : int { All = 0, Accepted = 2, Pending = 1, Declined = 3, Cancelled = 4, Failed = 5, Won = 6 } public IEnumerable<DareInfo> GetDares() { IEnumerable<DareInfo> dareInfos; using (IDataContext ctx = DataContext.Instance()) { var rep = ctx.GetRepository<DareInfo>(); dareInfos = rep.Get(); } return dareInfos; }

  • How to count the number of listitems in an asp.bulletedlist with JavaScript

    - by Andy5
    Hi I have an asp:bulletedlist control, which sits inside a div tag, and I need to count the number of list items inside the control. Searching the internet, and noting the fact the html given back by the items is a list i.e. <li>, I thought I could use an example of: var listcontrol = document.getElementById('BulletedList1'); var countItems = listcontrol.getElementByTagName('li').length; However, when I do this, it throws and error saying that no object exists for this control. So, my problem is, and because I must do this clientside because I want to use this to set the height of the div tag, is how do you count the number of items inside a asp:bulletedlist control with javascript?

  • .net MVC, dealing with json and Areas

    - by JoseMarmolejos
    When not using areas dealing with the url for the JsonResults from the clientside is not much of a pain, usually you can get away with hardcoding the url into your json calls and get away with it. Problem arises when you have different areas and you don't want to update all your links when you move a controller (and its views) from one area to the other. I'm not very satisfied with the way I'm handling this scenario by having this chunk of code inside every view: <script type="text/javascript"> var ControllerActions = { JsonSearch: '<%= Url.Action("JsonSearch") %>/', JsonDelete: '<%= Url.Action("JsonDelete") %>/', Edit: '<%= Url.Action("Edit") %>/', Delete: '<%= Url.Action("Delete") %>/' } </script> While it does work no matter where I place the views/controllers I wonder if there's a more elegant to do this.

  • Highlighting text in a textbox using Javascript

    - by zohair
    Hi, I have an ASP.NET 2.0 webapp (with C#). I wanted to add a button which, when clicked would highlight selected text. By 'highlight', I mean change the CSS properties of the text so that it can stand out. I think this can be done with some clientside JavaScript. I know that you can assign a Javascript function to the onclick event of an HTML input button, but since I'm not very proficient at JS the function itself I have no idea how to write... Can someone please help? Thanks a bunch!

  • IIS 7.5 stops serving requests for no apparent reason

    - by Steffen
    We're running a site on 4 virtual Win 2008 R2 64 bit servers. This is the only site on the IIS, and we use Windows Network Load Balancing to share the load between our 4 virtual servers. We've used these virtual servers for approximately a week, and we're starting to see some issues. For no apparent reason the IIS stops serving pages, and doesn't even respond with an error. So upon requesting a page from the server, the browser just waits infinitely (or until it decides to give up clientside) Sometimes an iisreset fixes the issue, other times we have to reboot the entire virtual server. There are no traces in the eventlog of why this happens, and there's no traces in our applications exception log neither. Furthermore this happens even when there's a very small load on the server, so it doesn't seem to be because it's flooded with requests. So frankly I'm at a loss here - I have no idea where to start debugging this issue :-( I'm quite certain we never had these issues on our physical servers, however they were running Win 2003 32bit, so there are quite a few differences between them and the virtual ones. (Which obviously makes it difficult to tell what exactly causes this)

  • The HTTP request was forbidden with client authentication scheme 'Anonymous'

I have run hhtpcfg both my client and server certificates are stored under Personal and Trusted People on the Local Machine Here is the server code: binding.Security.Transport.ClientCredentialType = HttpClientCredentialType.Certificate; binding.Security.Mode = WebHttpSecurityMode.Transport; _host.Credentials.ClientCertificate.Authentication.CertificateValidationMode = System.ServiceModel.Security.X509CertificateValidationMode.PeerOrChainTrust; _host.Credentials.ClientCertificate.Authentication.RevocationMode = X509RevocationMode.NoCheck; _host.Credentials.ClientCertificate.Authentication.TrustedStoreLocation = StoreLocation.LocalMachine; _host.Credentials.ServiceCertificate.SetCertificate("cn=ServerSide", StoreLocation.LocalMachine, StoreName.My); Client Code: binding.Security.Mode = WebHttpSecurityMode.Transport; binding.Security.Transport.ClientCredentialType = HttpClientCredentialType.Certificate; WebChannelFactory<ITestClientForServer> cf = new WebChannelFactory<ITestClientForServer>(binding, url2Bind); cf.Credentials.ClientCertificate.SetCertificate("cn=ClientSide", StoreLocation.LocalMachine, StoreName.My); ServicePointManager.ServerCertificateValidationCallback += RemoteCertificateValidate; Looking at web_tracelog.svclog and trace.log reveals that the server cannot autheticate the client certificate My certificate are not signed by an Authorized CA but this is why I added them to the Trusted People.... • Custom model validation of dependent properties using Data Annotations

    - by Darin Dimitrov
    Since now I've used the excellent FluentValidation library to validate my model classes. In web applications I use it in conjunction with the jquery.validate plugin to perform client side validation as well. One drawback is that much of the validation logic is repeated on the client side and is no longer centralized at a single place. For this reason I'm looking for an alternative. There are many examples out there showing the usage of data annotations to perform model validation. It looks very promising. One thing I couldn't find out is how to validate a property that depends on another property value. Let's take for example the following model: public class Event { [Required] public DateTime? StartDate { get; set; } [Required] public DateTime? EndDate { get; set; } } I would like to ensure that EndDate is greater than StartDate. I could write a custom validation attribute extending ValidationAttribute in order to perform custom validation logic. Unfortunately I couldn't find a way to obtain the model instance: public class CustomValidationAttribute : ValidationAttribute { public override bool IsValid(object value) { // value represents the property value on which this attribute is applied // but how to obtain the object instance to which this property belongs? return true; } } I found that the CustomValidationAttribute seems to do the job because it has this ValidationContext property that contains the object instance being validated. Unfortunately this attribute has been added only in .NET 4.0. So my question is: can I achieve the same functionality in .NET 3.5 SP1? UPDATE: It seems that FluentValidation already supports clientside validation and metadata in ASP.NET MVC 2. Still it would be good to know though if data annotations could be used to validate dependent properties.

  • Asp.net PopupControlExtender inside UpdatePabel

    - by user296422
    Hi, So i use PopupControlExtender (to edit some of the fields) inside ListViewControl which itself is embeded inside an UpdatePanel. The problem is as follows whenever you cause partail postback the popup panels are created client side outside the updatepanel. And you get more clientside controls with the same clientside ID. When you postback with popup panel the server side control eg. Texbox has Text = clientsidecontrol1.text, clientsidecontrol2.text, clientsidecontrol.text3 Is there a way to prevent this. <%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="Test.aspx.cs" Inherits="Secure_Test" %> <%@ Register assembly="AjaxControlToolkit" namespace="AjaxControlToolkit" tagprefix="cc1" %> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head runat="server"> <title></title> </head> <body> <form id="form1" runat="server"> <cc1:ToolkitScriptManager ID="ToolkitScriptManager1" runat="server"> </cc1:ToolkitScriptManager> <div> <asp:UpdatePanel ID="UpdatePanel1" runat="server"> <ContentTemplate> <asp:Label ID="InputLabel" runat="server" Text="Whatever you put in the textbox"></asp:Label> <br /> <asp:Label runat="server"> <%= DateTime.Now.ToString() %></asp:Label> <br /> <asp:Button ID="Button1" runat="server" Text="Refresh" /> <br /> <asp:LinkButton ID="PopupLB" runat="server">Popup</asp:LinkButton> <br /> <cc1:PopupControlExtender ID="PopupControlExtender1" runat="server" PopupControlID="Panel1" TargetControlID="PopupLB" CommitProperty="Value"> </cc1:PopupControlExtender> <asp:Panel ID="Panel1" runat="server"> <asp:UpdatePanel ID="UpdatePanel2" runat="server"> <ContentTemplate> <asp:TextBox ID="InputTB" runat="server"></asp:TextBox> <asp:Button ID="SubmitBTN" runat="server" Text="Submit" onclick="SubmitBTN_Click" UseSubmitBehavior="false" /> </ContentTemplate> </asp:UpdatePanel> </asp:Panel> </ContentTemplate> </asp:UpdatePanel> </div> </form> </body> </html> using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Web; using System.Web.UI; using System.Web.UI.WebControls; using AjaxControlToolkit; public partial class Secure_Test : System.Web.UI.Page { protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { } protected void SubmitBTN_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { PopupControlExtender pce = AjaxControlToolkit.PopupControlExtender.GetProxyForCurrentPopup(Page); pce.Commit("Popup"); InputLabel.Text = InputTB.Text; } } To make it easier to test i post the code of an example page i used for testing.   • Javascript with Django?

    I know this has been asked before, but I'm having a hard time setting up JS on my Django web app, even though I'm reading the documentation. I'm running the Django dev server. My file structure looks like this: mysite/ __init__.py MySiteDB manage.py settings.py urls.py myapp/ __init__.py admin.py models.py test.py views.py templates/ index.html Where do I want to put the Javascript and CSS? I've tried it in a bunch of places, including myapp/, templates/ and mysite/, but none seem to work. From index.html: <head> <title>Degree Planner</title> <script type="text/javascript" src="/scripts/JQuery.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="/media/scripts/sprintf.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="/media/scripts/clientside.js"></script> </head> From urls.py: (r'^admin/', include(admin.site.urls)), (r'^media/(?P<path>.*)$', 'django.views.static.serve', {'document_root': 'media'}) (r'^.*', 'mysite.myapp.views.index'), I suspect that the serve() line is the cause of errors like: TypeError at /admin/auth/ 'tuple' object is not callable Just to round off the rampant flailing, I changed these settings in settings.py: MEDIA_ROOT = '/media/' MEDIA_URL = 'http://127.0.0.1:8000/media'

  • Firebug error causing code to fail in Sitecore when using IE8 to view the Content Editor

    - by iamdudley
    Hi, I have a Sitecore 6 CMS with a custom data provider to create child items on the fly based on items added to a field in the parent item. This was working okay (about a week ago was the last time I was working on this project), but now I am getting errors in the web client which are originating in the FirebugLite html and JS files. Basically, I click on a content item, the FirebugLite js fails, and then my code in my custom data provider fails to run. I would have thought any FirebugLite scripts would be disabled or ignored when running under IE8 (isn't FirebugLite a Firefox addin?) When I remove the FirebugLite folder from ..\sitecore\shell\Controls\Lib\ my code runs fine and I don't get the clientside errors. I'm not really sure what my question is. I guess it is should FirebugLite affect IE8? What am I missing out on if I remove FirebugLite from the Sitecore directory tree? I'm running WindowsXP SP3, VS2008. The errors I get are the following: Webpage error details User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 5.1; Trident/4.0; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.0.4506.2152; .NET CLR 3.5.30729) Timestamp: Fri, 14 May 2010 06:42:04 UTC Message: Invalid argument. • Binding, Prefixes and generated HTML

    - by Vman
    MVC newbie question re binders. Supposing I have two strongly typed partial actions that happen to have a model attributes with the same name, and are rendered in the same containing page i.e.: Class Friend {string Name {get; set ;} DateTime DOB {get; set ;}} Class Foe {string Name {get; set ;} string ReasonForDislike {get; set ;}} Both partials will have a line: <%= Html.TextBoxFor(model => model.Name) %> And associated controller actions: public ActionResult SaveFriend(Friend friend) public ActionResult SaveFoe(Foe foe) My problem is that both will render on my containing page with the same id (of course, bad for lots of reasons). I’m aware of the [Bind] attribute that allows me add a prefix, resulting in code: public ActionResult SaveFriend([Bind(Prefix = “friend”)] Friend friend) <%= Html.TextBox("friend.Name", Model. Name) %> //Boo, no TextBoxFor :( But this still doesn’t cut it. I can just about tolerate the loss of the strongly typed TextBoxFor helpers but I’ve yet to get clientside validation to work with prefixes: I’ve tried: <%= Html.ValidationMessage("friend.Name") %> ...and every other variant I can think of. I seem to need the model to be aware of the prefix in both directions but bind only applies when mapping the inbound request. It seems (to me) a common scenario but I’m struggling to find examples out there. What am I missing! Thanks in advance.
