• Check if checkbox is checked or not (ASPX)

    - by cthulhu
    I have the following code: (some.aspx.cs) if(Page.IsPostBack) { bool apple2 = false; bool pizza2 = false; bool orange2 = false; if (apple.Checked) apple2 = true; if (pizza.Checked) pizza2 = true; if (orange.Checked) orange2 = true; } (some.aspx)

Food:

Apple Pizza Orange
Now, i send the Boolean variables to SQL database. The problem is only with unchecked boxes. I mean, when you check some checkboxes it sends it as true (and that's right) but when i uncheck them it remains the same (true).

CALORIES = \ { 'Beef' : 200, \ 'Chicken' : 140, \ } class Food(): __slots__ = ( 'cal' # Calories ) def mkFood( name ): """Create and return a newly initialized Food item""" result = Food() result.cal = calorie in dict(CALORIES[1]) return result Is that a proper way to the value of the target item in Calories? Like getting 200, 140, such like that. result.cal = calorie in dict(CALORIES[1])

  • Back home :-)

    - by Mike Dietrich
Wrote this entry last night in the ICE from Stuttgart to Munich but the conncetion broke: 28.5 hour journey - and close by now. Actually I would have been even closer if our TGV wouldn't have had break problems as soon as we had entered German territory. And you don't want a train which goes up to a speed of 200 mph having issues with its breaks, right? So we missed the connection in Stuttgart but I've catched the last train this night towards Munich. Distance approx 1900 km all together. Usually it takes 2.5 hours with a direct flight with Air Lingus from Munich or a bit more when you'll go through Zurich or Frankfurt. But at least you meet more people and see a bit more from the landscapes passing by :-) Except for the break problem everything worked out well so far (I'm no there finally!). I had 4 hours to change in Paris from Gare de Nord to Gare de l'Est and one thing I really have to point out: the people working for SNCF, the French National Railways, were so organized and helpful, purely amazing. I asked the man at the counter where I had to pick up my prepaid tickets for directions to Gare de l'Est - and after we had a chat about Marlene Dietrich he just grabbed his iPhone, started Google Earth and showed me the way to walk. I pretty sure it's a stupid stereotype that people in Paris or France are so unfriendly to foreigners if they don't speak French. In my past 3 stays or travels to Paris in the past 2 years I had only great experiences. And another thing I really enjoy when being in France: the food!!! The sandwich I had at the train station was packed with yummy goat cheese. And there's always Paul. You might ask yourself: Who the heck is Paul? That's Paul - or actually their website. And at Paul's they serve usually excellent fruit tartes - and this time a nice Gateau Au Chocolate. And very good Cafe Cremé as well :-) That's actually the positive part traveling this way: the food you'll get is much better than the airline food - if your airline still serves something called food ...

  • Top ten things that don't make sense in The Walking Dead

    - by iamjames
For those of you that don't know, The Walking Dead is a popular American TV show on AMC about a group of people trying to survive in a zombie-filled world. Here's the top ten eleven things that don't make sense on the show (and have never been explained) 1) They never visit stores. No Walmarts, Kmarts, Targets, shopping malls, pawn shops, gas stations, etc. You'd think that would be the first place you'd visit for supplies, but they never have. Not once. There was a tiny corner store they visited in a small town, and while many products were already gone they did find several useful items. 2) They never raid houses. Why not? One would imagine that they would want to search houses for useful items, but they don't.3) They don't use 2 way radios. Modern 2-way radios have a 36-mile range. That's probably best possible range, but even if the range is only 10% of that, 3.6 miles, that's still more than enough for most situations, for the occasional "hey zombies attacking can you give me a hand?" or "there's zombies walking by stay inside until they leave" or "remember to pick up milk at the store love mom". And yes they would need batteries or recharging, but they have been using gas-powered generators on the show and I'm sure a car charger would work.4) They use gas-guzzling vehicles. Every vehicle they have is from the 80s or 90s except for the new Kia SUV there for product placement. Why? They should all be driving new small SUVs or hybrids. Visit a dealership and steal more fuel-efficient vehicles, because while the Walmart's might be empty from people raiding them for supplies, I'm sure most people weren't thinking "Gee, I should go car shopping" when the infection hit5) They drive a motorcycle. Seriously? Let's find the least protective vehicle and drive that. And while motorcycles get reasonable gas mileage, 5 people in a SUV gets better gas mileage per person than 5 people all driving motorcycles so it doesn't make economical sense either.6) They drive loud vehicles. The motorcycle used is commonly referred to as a chopper and is about as loud as a motorcycle can get. The zombies are attracted to loud noise, so wouldn't it make more sense to drive vehicles that makes less sound? Because as soon as you stop the bike and get off you're surrounded by zombies that heard you coming. And it's not just the bike, the ~1980s Chevy SUV in the show is also very loud.7) They never run out of food. Seems like that would be a almost daily struggle, keeping enough food available for about a dozen people, yet I've never seen them visit a grocery store or local convenience store to stock up.8) They don't carry swords, machetes, clubs, etc. Let's face it, biting is not a very effective means of attack. It's good for animals because they have fangs and little else, but humans have been finding better ways of killing each other since forever. So why doesn't everyone on the show carry a sword or machete or at least a baseball bat? Anything is better than wasting valuable bullets all the time. Sure, dozen zombies approaching? Shoot them. One zombie approaching? Save the bullet, cut off it's head. 9) They do not wear protective clothing. Human teeth are not exactly the sharpest teeth in the animal kingdom. The leather shoes your dog ripped to shreds within minutes would probably take you days to bite through. So why do they walk around half-naked? Yes I know it's hot in Atlanta, but you'd think they'd at least have some tough leather coats or something for protection. Maybe put a few small vent holes in the fabric if it's really hot. Or better: make your own chainmail. Chainmail was used for thousands of years for protection from swords and is still used by scuba divers for protection from sharks. If swords and sharks can't puncture it, human teeth don't stand a chance. 10) They don't build barricades or dig trenches around properties. In Season 2 they stayed at a farm in the middle of no where. While being far away from people is a great way to stay far away from zombies, it would still make sense to build some sort of defenses. Hordes of zombies would knock down almost any fence, but what about a trench or moat? Maybe something not too wide so it can be jumped over easily but a zombie would fall into because I haven't seen too many jumping zombies on the show. 11) They don't live in a mall or tall office building. A mall would be perfect. They have large security gates designed to keep even hundreds of people from breaking in and offer lots of supplies and food. They're usually hundreds of thousands of square feet and fully enclosed, one could probably live their entire life happily in a mall. Tall office building with on-site cafeteria would be another good choice. They also usually offer good security and office furniture could be pushed out of the windows to crush approaching zombies, and the cafeteria is usually stocked to provide food for hundreds or thousands of office workers so food wouldn't be a problem for a long time. So there you have it, eleven things that don't make sense in The Walking Dead. Have any of your own you'd like to add or were one of these things covered in the show? Let me know in the comments.

  • 2D grid with multiple types of objects

    - by Alexandre P. Levasseur
This is my first post here in programmers.stackexchange (I'm a regular on SO). I hope this isn't too general. I'm trying a simple project to learn Java from something I've seen done in the past. Basically, it's an AI simulation where there are herbivorous and carnivorous creatures and both must try to survive. The part I am trying to come up with is that of the board itself. Let's assume very simple rules. The board must be of size X by Y and only one element can be in one place at one time. For example, a critter cannot be in the same tile as a food block. There can be obstacles (rocks, trees..), there can be food, there can be critters of any type. Assuming these rules, what would be one good way to represent this situation ? This is what I came up with and want suggestions if possible: Use multiple levels of inheritance to represent all the different possible objects (AbstractObject - (NonMovingObject - (Food, Obstacle) , MovingObject - Critter - (Carnivorous, Herbivorous))) and use polymorphism in a 2D array to store the instances and still have access to lower level methods. Many thanks. Edit: Here is the graphic representation of the structure I have in mind.

The rest of the day was packed with great sessions full of Windows 8, Azure and Windows Phone goodness. I had planned on attending Scott Hanselman’s talk, but they had so many people this they had to push to an overflow room. Stay tuned from session summaries later. The day was topped off by an attendee party across from the San Francisco Giant’s ball park. It was kind of quirky and and fun. They set it up on one of the piers in the bay and had food served by food trucks. You would be surprised how good the food was. Add in some pool tables, fooseball, video games, a DJ, a comedian/musician and plenty of spirits and it was a great way to end day 2. del.icio.us Tags: BUILD 2013

  • Why do I get "Illegal characters in path" while using XmlDiff to compare 2 xml files?

I am using an overloaded function which passes 2 xmls as strings : xmldiff = new XmlDiff(XmlDiffOptions.IgnoreChildOrder | XmlDiffOptions.IgnorePrefixes | XmlDiffOptions.IgnoreNamespaces); bool identical = xmldiff.Compare(first, last, false); where first and last look more or less like this : <breakfast_menu> <food>
<price>$5.95</price>
two of our famous Belgian Waffles with plenty of real maple syrup
<calories>650</calories> </food> <food>
<price>$7.95</price>
light Belgian waffles covered with strawberries and whipped cream
<calories>900</calories> </food> </breakfast_menu> And I get this error

  • WPF tree data binding

    - by Am
Hi, I have a well defined tree repository. Where I can rename items, move them up, down, etc. Add new and delete. The data is stored in a table as follows: Index Parent Label Left Right 1 0 root 1 14 2 1 food 2 7 3 2 cake 3 4 4 2 pie 5 6 5 1 flowers 8 13 6 5 roses 9 10 7 5 violets 11 12 Representing the following tree: (1) root (14) (2) food (7) (8) flowers (13) (3) cake (4) (5) pie (6) (9) roeses (10) (11) violets (12) or root food cake pie flowers roses violets Now, my problem is how to represent this in a bindable way, so that a TreeView can handle all the possible data changes? Renaming is easy, all I need is to make the label an updatble field. But what if a user moves flowers above food? I can make the relevant data changes, but they cause a complete data change to all other items in the tree. And all the examples I found of bindable hierarchies are good for non static trees.. So my current (and bad) solution is to reload the displayed tree after relocation change. Any direction will be good. Thanks

  • Pygame Sprite/Font rendering issues

    - by Grimless
    Hey guys. Here's my problem: I have a game class that maintains a HUD overlay that has a bunch of elements, including header and footer background sprites. Everything was working fine until I added a 1024x128 footer sprite. Now two of my text labels will not render, despite the fact that they DO exist in my Group and self.elements array. Is there something I'm missing? When I take out the footerHUDImage line, all of the labels render correctly and everything works fine. When I add the footerHUDImage, two of the labels (the first two) no longer render and the third only sometimes renders. HELP PLEASE! Here is the code: class AoWHUD (object): def __init__(self, screen, delegate, dataSource): self.delegate = delegate self.dataSource = dataSource self.elements = [] headerHudImage = KJRImage("HUDBackground.png") self.elements.append(headerHudImage) headerHudImage.userInteractionEnabled = True footerHUDImage = KJRImage("ControlsBackground.png") self.elements.append(footerHUDImage) footerHUDImage.rect.bottom = screen.get_rect().height footerHUDImage.userInteractionEnabled = True lumberMessage = "Lumber: " + str(self.dataSource.lumber) lumberLabel = KJRLabel(lumberMessage, size = 48, color = (240, 200, 10)) lumberLabel.rect.topleft = (_kSpacingMultiple * 0, 0) self.elements.append(lumberLabel) stoneMessage = "Stone: " + str(self.dataSource.stone) stoneLabel = KJRLabel(stoneMessage, size = 48, color = (240, 200, 10)) stoneLabel.rect.topleft = (_kSpacingMultiple * 1, 0) self.elements.append(stoneLabel) metalMessage = "Metal: " + str(self.dataSource.metal) metalLabel = KJRLabel(metalMessage, size = 48, color = (240, 200, 10)) metalLabel.rect.topleft = (_kSpacingMultiple * 2, 0) self.elements.append(metalLabel) foodMessage = "Food: " + str(len(self.dataSource.units)) + "/" + str(self.dataSource.food) foodLabel = KJRLabel(foodMessage, size = 48, color = (240, 200, 10)) foodLabel.rect.topleft = (_kSpacingMultiple * 3, 0) self.elements.append(foodLabel) self.selectionSprites = {32 : pygame.image.load("Selected32.png").convert_alpha(), 64 : pygame.image.load("Selected64.png")} self._sprites_ = pygame.sprite.Group() for e in self.elements: self._sprites_.add(e) print self.elements def draw(self, screen): if self.dataSource.resourcesChanged: lumberMessage = "Lumber: " + str(self.dataSource.lumber) stoneMessage = "Stone: " + str(self.dataSource.stone) metalMessage = "Metal: " + str(self.dataSource.metal) foodMessage = "Food: " + str(len(self.dataSource.units)) + "/" + str(self.dataSource.food) self.elements[2].setText(lumberMessage) self.elements[2].rect.topleft = (_kSpacingMultiple * 0, 0) self.elements[3].setText(stoneMessage) self.elements[3].rect.topleft = (_kSpacingMultiple * 1, 0) self.elements[4].setText(metalMessage) self.elements[4].rect.topleft = (_kSpacingMultiple * 2, 0) self.elements[5].setText(foodMessage) self.elements[5].rect.topleft = (_kSpacingMultiple * 3, 0) self.dataSource.resourcesChanged = False self._sprites_.draw(screen) if self.delegate.selectedUnit: theSelectionSprite = self.selectionSprites[self.delegate.selectedUnit.rect.width] screen.blit(theSelectionSprite, self.delegate.selectedUnit.rect)

  • Drupal CCK 3 Multigroup tables with views

    - by henrijs.seso
Hi, Each node have CCK-3-dev multigroup with 3 fields. Can I use one of fields as table header? Values of this field are taken from Taxonomy. With a simple recipe example, where food Z and Y are 2 nodes with recipes and each node has multigroup with ingredient name (milk, fish), amount (numbers) and unit (g, kg). Is there a way to create a table like this with views, I want to use views calc to calculate total amount of ingredient needed to prepare multiple recipes: Ingredient A Ingredient B Ingredient C Food Z 200 g 700 g 0 g Food Y 500 g 1000 g 50 g I don't even need units by number, but that would be good too. Anyways, how do I get this?

  • Using string[] as a Dictionary key e.g. Dictionary<string[], StringBuilder>

    - by Nick Allen - Tungle139
The structure I am trying to achieve is a composite Dictionary key which is item name and item displayname and the Dictionary value being the combination of n strings So I came up with var pages = new Dictionary<string[], StringBuilder>() { { new string[] { "food-and-drink", "Food & Drink" }, new StringBuilder() }, { new string[] { "activities-and-entertainment", "Activities & Entertainment" }, new StringBuilder() } }; foreach (var obj in my collection) { switch (obj.Page) { case "Food": case "Drink": pages["KEY"].Append("obj.PageValue"); break; ... } } The part I am having trouble with is accessing the Dictionary Key pages["KEY"] How do I target the Dictionary Key whose value at [0] == some value? Hope that makes sense

  • Localizing concatenated or dynamic strings

    - by SooDesuNe
I'm familiar with using NSLocalizedString() to localize strings, but the problem I have today requires a little more finesse. My situation is like this: NSString *userName; //the users name, entered by the user. Does not need localized NSString *favoriteFood; //the users favorite food, also entered by user, and not needing localized NSString *summary = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@'s favorite food is %@", userName, favoriteFood]; This works fine for english, but not every language uses the same word ordering as English, for example, a word-by-word translation of the same sentance from Japanese into English would read: UserName's favorite food pizza is Not to mention that 's is doesn't make a possessive in every language. What techniques are available for localizing this type of concatenated sentence?

  • In Birt Reports - Displaying the most common string value in group.

    - by Ben
For this example data: Index, State, Food 1, CA, Hamburger 2, NY, Lettuce 3, CA, Cheese 4, NY, Lettuce 5, NY, Cheese 6, AR, Cheese I would like to group by State and show the most common food for each state. So the result for the example should be: State, Popular Food CA, Hamburger NY, Lettuce AR, Cheese The problem is I can't find an aggregation that would return the most common string. There is the 'mode' function but it only works on integers. Am I missing Something? Thanks!

  • How to merge arrays with same key and different value in PHP?

    - by Martin
    Hi guys, I have arrays similarly to these: 0 => Array ( [0] => Finance / Shopping / Food, [1] => 47 ) 1 => Array ( [0] => Finance / Shopping / Food, [1] => 25 ) 2 => Array ( [0] => Finance / Shopping / Electronic, [1] => 190 ) I need to create one array with [0] as a key and [1] as value. The tricky part is that if the [0] is same it add [1] to existing value. So the result I want is: array ([Finance / Shopping / Food]=> 72, [Finance / Shopping / Electronic] => 190); thanks

  • Is there a Content Management System that allows multiple & independent blogs to be running on one domain?

    - by Ron
Hello Webmasters, I am a Wordpress fan, and I'm now building a new site and I'm not sure which CMS can achieve what I'm trying to do. I am building a food blog network for a bunch of cities in the US, and I want to my city pages to be independently running blogs themselves. So basically... Home Page - Its own blog with its own users, talking about Food in general Dallas Page (child of home page) - Its own blog with its own users Chicago Page ..... so on and so forth. The web layout and design will be all the same, but just trying to achieve 25~50 independent blogs on one domain. How can I achieve this? I'm hoping that I don't have to install Wordpress into as many subdomains that I create... Thank you for your help in advance. -RP

  • How Microwave Ovens Work [Video]

    - by Jason Fitzpatrick
In this informative how-it-works video, we’re treated to a peek inside the common microwave and the science behind the magnetron that powers it. Bill details how a microwave oven heats food. He describes how the microwave vacuum tube, called a magnetron, generates radio frequencies that cause the water in food to rotate back and forth. He shows the standing wave inside the oven, and notes how you can measure the wavelength with melted cheese. He concludes by describing how a magnetron generates radio waves. • Reduce weight in healthy way - Day 2

    - by krnites
My second day of reducing weight and it seems most of the blog are correct in saying that you can reduce weight if your calorie consumption is less than what you burn. In one day I have lost 1 lbs without doing anything. My current weight is 177.4 lbs. Yesterday I ate small portion of dinner that I used to eat that also around 7 PM. Normally I eat my dinner around 10 PM and withing 2 hour of eating I go for sleep, but yesterday I ate around 7 PM and went for sleep only after 12.On my second day I have eaten noodles and 3 eggs in breakfast and sesame chicken ( I love it) and fried rice in lunch, I still have not gone for running but had plan to go for running and then swimming. I hope it will at least burn the calories that I had taken. On some site it was written that a normal men body needs around 2000 Calorie a day. So if I am eating less than 2000 calorie ( noodles + 3 eggs = 400+200, rice + sesame chicken = 1300, total = 1900) and burning around 300 calorie, my total calorie intake will be 1600 which is less than what my body needs. So most probably by tomorrow I should come under 176 lb bracket.Apart from counting the calorie that I am taking in everyday and approx number of calorie that I am burning everyday, I had also starting tracking my physical activities on my mobile. I have got a beautiful Samsung Focus S Windows 7.5 mobile. And after browsing through the market I have downloaded couple of health Apps.1. 6 Week training - this has set of exercise and lets you choose the number of sets you want to do for all exercise. Its focus on your core muscles.2. Fast food Calories - This apps has all the fast food chain listed and give the calorie count of each of the food item available on there menu. Like for Burger King's French Fries Large (Salted) contains 500 Calorie.3. Gym Pocket Guide - Contains instructions for different kind of exercise and tells a right way of doing them.4. RunSat - kind of GPS based application. Its mark the distance you have run, shows the path you have taken on a map, total calorie burnt, laps completed. I love this apps.5. Stop Watch I also have noticed that If I am running in GYM and have television in front of me where a movie or serial is going on which I like, I normally didn't notice the time. Most of the time running on treadmill is very boring, but if some music video is playing or some kind of sitcom is going, I can run for a hour or half.So on day 2 I have lost 1 lbs and had learnt that calorie intake should be less then calorie burnt for a given day.

  • How can I merge properties of two JavaScript objects dynamically?

    - by JC Grubbs
I need to be able to merge two (very simple) JavaScript objects at runtime. For example I'd like to: var obj1 = { food: 'pizza', car: 'ford' } var obj2 = { animal: 'dog' } obj1.merge(obj2); //obj1 now has three properties: food, car, and animal Does anyone have a script for this or know of a built in way to do this? I do not need recursion, and I do not need to merge functions, just methods on flat objects.
