    Apart from the argument of wicket's simplicity (that is, wicket is a simpler system IMHO) and GWT's responsiveness in the client (GWT's client side state and javascript - potentially complex client side code) and GWT's greater potential for scaling, what is the argument for using GWT over wicket? Personally I've done a lot of wicket development, but have only had a quick look at GWT a long time ago.

    Hi all, I've recently gotten quite fond of netbeans for my php work because of the XDebug integration. It has made me all but forget about textmate (which imho still beats netbeans for the little things) What do you think is the one awesome netbeans feature I should know about, and more importantly why and how do I use it? I'm asking this to optimize my skills in the use of the IDE and based on the idea that what works well for others might just work for me (and hopefully others).

    How can I find out the size of a file? I opened with an application written in C. I would like to know the size, because I want to put the content of the loaded file into a string, which I alloc using malloc(). Just writing malloc(10000*sizeof(char)); is IMHO a bad idea.

I like to use ports very much, especially rebuilding all packages for slow cpu, it's really noticable difference, anyway, IMHO, is it possible?

    I'm using the great (IMHO) jQuery Address plugin but it's been driving me insane since I didn't know that it automatically tracked the pages on Google Analytics. How do I keep it from doing it? I tried this but apparently it's never called. $.address.tracker(function(){console.log("hello")}) I guess I could somehow overwrite the function in the plugin but I hope there's a better way...

    I recently discovered the GDB in Xcode which makes up for some functionality which IMHO seems to be lacking in Xcode. So I can do the following in GDB: (gdb) po [LoginManager sharedSession].loginToken 20D52FE9-3573-437E-9A65-846572B63726 However, I have another Service class, which is currently not loaded so I get the following error: (gdb) po [SessionService displaySessionInfoForToken:@"XXX"] No symbol "SessionService" in current context. I don't understand why the LoginManager can be loaded but not the SessionService.

    In this blog post, I will take a look at Cloud Mobile Backend as a Service (MBaaS) and how we can leverage Cloud based Mobile Backend as a Service for building enterprise mobile apps. Today, mobile apps are incredibly significant in both consumer and enterprise space and the demand for the mobile apps is unbelievably increasing in day to day business. An enterprise can’t survive in business without a proper mobility strategy. A better mobility strategy and faster delivery of your mobile apps will give you an extra mileage for your business and IT strategy. So organizations and mobile developers are looking for different strategy for meeting this demand and adopting different development strategy for their mobile apps. Some developers are adopting hybrid mobile app development platforms, for delivering their products for multiple platforms, for fast time-to-market. Windows Azure Mobile Services extends the PaaS capabilities of Windows Azure, to mobile devices, which can be used as a cloud backend for your mobile apps, which will provide global availability and reach for your mobile apps. Windows Azure Mobile Services provides storage services, user management with social network integration, push notification services and scheduler services and provides native SDKs for all major mobile platforms and HTML5. In Windows Azure Mobile Services, you can write server-side scripts in Node.js where you can enjoy the full power of Node.js including the use of NPM modules for your server-side scripts. In the previous section, we had discussed some challenges of MBaaS solutions. You can leverage Windows Azure Cloud platform for solving many challenges regarding with enterprise mobility. The entire Windows Azure platform can play a key role for working as the backend for your mobile apps where you can leverage the entire Windows Azure platform for your mobile apps. With Windows Azure, you can easily connect to your on-premises systems which is a key thing for mobile backend solutions. Another key point is that Windows Azure provides better integration with services like Active Directory, which makes Windows Azure as the de facto platform for enterprise mobility, for enterprises, who have been leveraging Microsoft ecosystem for their application and IT infrastructure. Windows Azure Mobile Services  is going to next evolution where you can expect some exciting features in near future. One area, where Windows Azure Mobile Services should definitely need an improvement, is about the default storage mechanism in which currently it is depends on SQL Server. IMHO, developers should be able to choose multiple default storage option when creating a new mobile service instance. Let’s say, there should be a different storage providers such as SQL Server storage provider and Table storage provider where developers should be able to choose their choice of storage provider when creating a new mobile services project. I have been used Windows Azure and Windows Azure Mobile Services as the backend for production apps for mobile, where it performed very well. MBaaS Over MEAP Recently, many larger enterprises has been adopted Mobile enterprise application platform (MEAP) for their mobile apps. I haven’t worked on any production MEAP solution, but I heard that developers are really struggling with MEAP in different way. The learning curve for a proprietary MEAP platform is very high. I am completely against for using larger proprietary ecosystem for mobile apps. For enterprise mobile apps, I highly recommend to use native iOS/Android/Windows Phone or HTML5  for front-end with a cloud hosted MBaaS solution as the middleware. A MBaaS service can be consumed from multiple mobile apps where REST APIs are using to integrating with enterprise backend systems. Enterprise mobility should start with exposing REST APIs on the enterprise backend systems and these REST APIs can host on Cloud where we can enjoy the power of Cloud for our services.   • Thomson TCM 420 internal firewall deactivation

    Hi all, I'm having a really hard time with getting a box into active torrent mode. Windows firewall etc. is done, the actual problem seems to relate to the cable modem which is used to connect the box to the net. It's a Thomson TCM 420 which 'claims' to have an internal firewall. IMHO this internal FW keeps me from using the port I opened for torrenting. To cut it short: is there a way to disable that firewall? The web administration interface of the modem does not provide that option. thanks in advance K

    Hello, Windows 7, 64bit. I have an application which I don't trust but still need to run. I would like to run the installer of this application and later on the installed executable under some kind of "strace" for windows which will record what this application did to the system. Mainly: What files have been created / edited? What registery changed have been made? To what network hosts did the application tried to communicate? Ideally I would also be able to generate a "UNDO" action to undo all the changes. Please don't suggest full Virtualization solutions such as Virtualbox, VMWare and co. because the application should run in the host system (A "sandbox" approach will OTHO be accepted, IMHO). Do you any such utility I can use? Thank you, Maxim.

  • Lazy umount or Unmounting a busy disk in Linux

    I have read that it is possible to 'umount' a disk that is otherwise busy by using the 'lazy' option. The manpage has this to say about it: umount - unmount file systems -l Lazy unmount. Detach the filesystem from the filesystem hierarchy now, and cleanup all references to the filesystem as soon as it is not busy anymore. This option allows a "busy" filesystem to be unmounted. (Requires kernel 2.4.11 or later.) But what would be the point in that? I considered why we dismount partitions at all: To remove the hardware To perform operations on the filesystem that would be unsafe to do while mounted In either of these cases, all a 'lazy' unmount serves IMHO is to make it more difficult to determine if the disk really is dismounted and you can actually proceed with these actions. The only application for umount -l seems to be for inexperienced users to 'feel' like they've achieved something they haven't. Why would you use a lazy unmount?

  • Best way to transfer files across unstable LAN?

    This is very similar to Question 326211, but in this case, the LAN is an unstable Wi-Fi connection. I need to transfer about 11 GiB of files between two computers, both running Linux (although one may be rebooted into Windows.) Their connection is both slow and unstable (due to Linux's awful Wi-Fi support,) but removable media (such as a flash drive or external hard drive) is not an option at this time. Right now, I'm slowly transferring the files, one by one, across SFTP, but I have to reconnect each computer approximately every 90 seconds, and the computers are not very close to each other, so this is not feasible. This is not a duplicate of Question 30186; that one specifically concerns Windows 7, and all the proposed solutions involve closed-source, Windows-only programs (which are all spyware IMHO, and are all off the table even if I trusted them - one of the computers is Linux-only.)

  • RAID - software vs. hardware

    I have always used hardware based raid because it (IMHO) it's on the right level (feel free to dispute this) and that OS failures are more common to me than hardware issues. Thus if the OS fails the raid is gone and so is the data, where on a hardware level regardless of OS the data remains. However on a recent Stack Overflow podcast they stated they would not used hardware raid as the software raid is better developed and thus runs better. So my question is, is there any reasons to choose one over the other?

Hi everyone, Now, I lost one day to figure out, the reason my FreeBSD10 can not authenticate SSH user via LDAP because pam_ldap and nss_ldap do not support SSHA password when OpenLDAP support SSHA method. I have checked /usr/local/etc/ldap.conf, they just have these pam_password methods: clear, crypt, nds, racf, ad, exop. So, If I switch to CRYPT, I can authenticate successfully. So, IMHO, I will be very appreciative for any point or suggestion from everyone to make my FreeBSD10 PAM support SSHA, is there any way or can not? Infor: Ldap Server (389 DS - Centos) - Ldap client (FreeBSD10) what I have got: authen via Ldap between Centos - Centos (Okie).     I have a friend who has gotten a serious virus infection and needs her computer rebuilt. However, the computer did not come with any re-installation disks from the OEM and she doesn't have any good backups. I have a TechNet subscription, but I understand that the OEM product key attached to her computer should not work with the Retail or Volume License images I can get from TechNet. Is there anywhere I can legally download a copy of Windows 7 that will work with an OEM key, directly from Microsoft? I'd rather avoid having to work with the OEM's technical support and possibly have to pay for them to ship a disc that (IMHO) the system should have come with in the first place.

  • Free Markdown JS viewer

    I'd like to use Markdown for documents to be exchanged with a colleague of mine. The ideal workflow would be IMHO editing the source in any plaintext editor while simultaneously viewing it in a browser. The client viewer should be able to redraw the text after each save automatically, and ideally even always switch to the most recent source file (so I don't need to navigate there manually). It'd be nice if I could (was allowed) modify the viewer a bit, things like using trailing spaces for line breaks are really terrible (I don't see them, my editor strips them, git complains about them, etc.). I'm interested in a software capable of this and easy to modify, and also in your opinions on the described workflow.

  • OSS Router firmwares

    DD-WRT, Open WRT , Tomato or Third-party firmware projects ? What are the compelling reasons to choose between these? I used to be a great DD-WRT fan until I realized that the author was deceiving users by publishing it as a OSS, but made it very cumbersome to download the source and change it (requires you to download GB’s of source files) .Also their bandwidth monitoring feature was part of the paid version, which IMHO is a killer. Having said that, DD-WRT just worked. And I think that’s great..

  • Highlight identical strings in vi(m)

    One feature of Notepad++, which I find really useful and haven't found elsewhere, is the highlighting of other text that is identical to the one currently selected. Is there something similar possible with vi(m)? (Of course, there is. But how do I achieve it?) That is, any of those: If I am in Visual Mode and have text selected: Highlight identical text If I have searched /foo, highlight all instances of foo. If I am at the beginning of a string (series of characters, numbers or underscores), highlight all other matching strings (prefered solution). The last one is similar to the closing parentheses matching and IMHO the most useful. Edit: For my second use case, I found a solution (that is, Google found it...): :set hls However, the others remain.

    Possible Duplicate: How to browse safely? What's the best way to browse "suspicious" sites safely. I know Firefox used to be "the thing", but now I don't think it is (IMHO). What I'm using now is a virtual machine (with virtual box), rhat I periodically format. I heard some time ago of a project that glued the 2 together (kinda... everytime you startup the program it used a fresh machine with a fresh browser), but I lost track of them So my question is: How can I Browse the web securely ?
