  • Ruby on Rails App not starting in production mode

    I wrote my first Rails 3 app and it ran absolutely fine in development mode. Now I deployed it on my server and wanted to start it in production mode. The app starts but none of my images or stylesheets are being loaded. The Rails console outputs a lot of RoutingErrors to those files. Isn't that mode available yet?

  • AnkhSVN client side pre-commit hook

    Basically I want to do the same thing as the fella over there. It seems that everybody was thinking about server-side hooks (with all their evil potential). I want a client side script be run before commit so astyle can format the code the way my boss likes to see it. Since my IDE (VS2010Pro) automatically checks when a file changed on the disk an opts me in for reloading it, there is no real evil with all that. Is there any (clean) way to accomplish that with AnkhSVN? Maybe there's also a way to extend VisualStudio to call my pre-commit-script...

  • Can any Palm Pre be used for development?

    We're about to start developing software for the Palm, using WebOS. Though an emulator is available for testing, I always feel more confident seeing it run on a physical device as well. I can't find anywhere on Palm's website that tells me whether I can just buy an off-the-shelf Palm Pre and run my app on it, or if I have to buy one with a particular type of contract/ have it unlocked in some way/ whatever. Does anyone know? Have you done this? (Sorry this is barely programming-related, but I couldn't think where else to ask. I'm sure someone has done this and can give me a quick yay or nay. Thanks.) Oh - I'm in the UK, if that makes any difference.

  • In a pre-commit hook - how to access/compare current and previous versions of files

    I'm trying to add to our existing pre-commit SVN hook so that it will check for and block an increase in file size for files in specific directory/s. I've written a python script to compare two file sizes, which takes two files as arguments and uses sys.exit(0) or (1) to return the result, this part seems to work fine. My problem is in calling the python script from the batch file, how to reference the newly committed and previous versions of each file? The existing code is new to me and a mess of %REPOS%, %TXN%s etc and I'm not sure how to go about using them. Is there a simple, standard way of doing this? It also already contains code to loop through the changed files using svnlook changed, so that part shouldn't be an issue. Thanks very much

  • Rails Routing Broken In Production - Caching of routes.rb suspected

    Hi folks, i have an urgent problem. Essentially, my routing works on my localhost. But when i deployed this to production, the routes does not seem to work correctly. For example, given a new route "/invites" - sometimes i will get a 404, and sometimes it will work correctly. I suspect there is some caching going on somewhere, but i am not sure.   • Push notification not working for the production environment

    I have spent a whole day on this already but still didn't go anywhere. When I run my app in the development mode, I can get the push messages I send to myself thru PushMeBaby without a problem. However, when I try to test it in the production environment, I cannot get any push. I re-generated all the certificates and provisioning profiles, used the aps_production_identity.cer as the certificate for push, changed the ssl to gateway.push.apple.com, and did a release build for the app, but still couldn't get it to work. I found that in PushMeBaby, the line result = SSLHandshake(context); returns error -9844. Does it mean that something is wrong with the aps_production_identity.cer file? This is driving me nuts, can somebody offer a little help? Much appreciated!!!

  • Is node.js ready for production use?

    Starting a new project. It's basically a blogging/commenting system. We're considering node.js as the back end server. Is node.js ready for this sort of thing or is it too early and experimental? We need HTTPS and gzip compression - perhaps a front end nginx server could provide this? What's missing from node.js that would make developing a web app difficult? From a production ready perspective, we're wondering if it is stable enough for building a commercial app on top of. Thanks

  • Pre Commit Hook for JSLint in Mercurial and Git

    I want to run JSLint before a commit into either a Mercurial or Git repo is done. I want this as an automatic step that is set up instead of relying on the developer (mainly me) remembering to run JSLint before-hand. I normally run JSLint while developing, but want to specify a contract on JS files that they pass JSLint before being committed to the repo. For Mercurial, this page spells out the precommit syntax, but the only variables that seem to be available are the parent1 and parent2 changeset IDs involved in the commit. What I really want are a list of file names that are involved with the commit, so that I can then choose the .js file and run jslint over them. Similar issue for GIT, the default info available as part of the precommit script seems limited. What might work is calling hg status/git status as part of the precommit script, parse that output to find JS files then do the work that way. I was hoping for something easier though, and I am not sure if calling status as part of a precommit hook reflect the correct information. For instance in Git if the changes files have not been added yet, but the git commit uses -a, would the files show up in the correct section of the git status output as being part of the commit set?   • WF 4.0 can't get to resume workflow on the staging/production environment

    I have developed various registeration workflows using WF4.0. Each work flow has various bookmarks. I am using the registeration wf for an asp.net application. I tested the asp.net application locally and it is working fine( Starting WF, Persisting to db and resuming bookmarks). When I try to test it on the staging server, everything goes messy.   • localhost + staging + production environments?

    Hello, I have a website say www.livesite.com which is currently running. I have been developing a new version of the website on my local machine with http://localhost and then committing my changes with svn to www.testsite.com where I would test the site on the livesite.com server but under another domain (its the same environment as the live site but under a different domain). Now I am ready to release the new version to livesite.com. Doing it the first time is easy, I could just copy & paste everything from testsite.com to livesite.com (not sure its the best way to do it). I want to keep testsite.com as a testing site where I would push updates, test them and once satisfied move to livesite.com but I am not sure how to do that after the new site is launched.. I don't think copy pasting the whole directory is the right way of doing it and it will break the operations of current users on the livesite.com. I also want to keep my svn history on testsite.com. What is the correct way of doing this with SVN ? Thank you so much!

  • Oracle RDBMS Server 11gR2 Pre-Install RPM for Oracle Linux 6 has been released

    Now that the certification of the Oracle Database 11g R2 with Oracle Linux 6 and the Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel has been announced, we are glad to announce the availability of oracle-rdbms-server-11gR2-preinstall, the Oracle RDBMS Server 11gR2 Pre-install RPM package (formerly known as oracle-validated). Designed specifically for Oracle Linux 6, this RPM aids in the installation of the Oracle Database. In order to install the Oracle Database 11g R2 on Oracle Linux 6, your system needs to meet a few prerequisites, as outlined in the Linux Installation Guides. Using the Oracle RDBMS Server 11gR2 Pre-install RPM, you can complete most of the pre-installation configuration tasks. which is now available from the Unbreakable Linux Network, or via the Oracle public yum repository. The pre-install package is available for x86_64 only.
