  From this article I have learnt, that DWM is enabled only with AERO: Let’s recall: without Aero turned on, the DWM is deactivated, so there’s also no more 2D acceleration, either (this applies equally to Windows 7 as it does to Vista) What is the easiest way to tell whether AERO / DWM on Win 7 is enabled / disabled? With some themes it is (visually) obvious, but with some others not (especially not when using remote access like VNC). Is there some dialog where I can see that AERO / DWM is enabled / disabled?

• Firefox Add-on for Opening Pages in Separate "Sandboxes"

  Is there a Firefox add-on that will allow someone to easily open up a page in a new tab or window so it will not share cookies and other session information with other windows? Basically, I want to be able to run Facebook, GMail, Google Search, etc, in separate sandboxes using different accounts. I recall seeing a blog posting about an add-on that did this without forcing you to set up different Firefox profiles, but I can't remember where I saw it or what it was called.

  Hi, I believe I once saw that it was possible to share versions of documents in WSS like the library itself. e.g. when the path is like http://myShare/SomeDocuments then it was like http://myShare/SomeDocuments/versions/1 or something like that ... I can't find information about it. Do I recall that right, is it possible at all and how do I do it?

• Upgrade from Etch to Lenny, server no longer reboots

  Hi, I just upgraded my (remote) webserver to Lenny from Etch. and no real issue occurs except that I cannot reboot that server. (I can only start in a rescue mode) I recall that a MBR change performed and I am wondering if that could be the reason for this failure. Would someone know how I can revert this MBR change ? I had switched back to my previous linux kernel, still cannot reboot. I would appreciate your help. thanks Jack

• What Triggers a syncronization between Exchange 2007 Mail Store and Edge Servers?

  We are using Exchange 2007 for our mail. In our configuration, we need to add an alias to each users mailbox. When we do, the Edge server, another Exchange 2007 box, will reject the alias with a User Unknown error until the next morning. I seem to recall that in Exchange 2003, you could force an update from the Management console, but I can not find a way in 2007. It is obvious that a sync job is scheduled to run each night, but I cannot find it.

• MacBook Pro 13 inch trackpad: Makes very annoying sounds when clicked

  Hi, recently my trackpad on my MacBook Pro 13 inch has been making really annoying sounds when pressed. Almost like there's something (possibly sticky) under there. I do not recall ever spilling on this device and am wondering what's up. I don't want to take it apart because that voids all warranties with Apple. Any suggestions? Thanks.

• Enabling UDMA Mode 6 for a SATA II HDD

  How would I go about enabling UDMA Mode 6 transfer for my Seagate Baracudda 7200.12 HDD ? HD tune tells me that it supports it but is operating at Mode 5. My motherboard is a ASUS P5B-MX WiFi/AP, uses the ICH7 chipset ( if I recall correctly ). I'm running Windows 7 x64.

• recently used programs stopped updating Vista Home Premium 64

  For some reason my list of recently used programs has stopped updating. Any program that I "pin" to the start menu remains, but where you would normally expect to see the recent programs is just blank space. What setting do you think could have changed? • Change drive letter of DVD drive

  I am trying to use a Drive Maps GPO on Server 2012 - User Configuration - Preferences - Windows Settings - Drive Maps. Problem is I want to map a drive to D: but this is automatically assigned to the DVD drive. Question is can I prevent D: being used as the next drive letter when Windows 8 boots up? I seem to recall in early version of Windows, or maybe it was Novell, a first_drive environment variable for this purpose.

• Wireless internet became extremely slow on my 27" IMac

  The wireless internet on my Mac became extremely slow recently on my 27" IMac. I don't recall doing anything different other than doing the Apple Software updates which I let it pop up and install automatically. On my Mac Book internet is still fine so I don't think it's the model or the router. I'm not sure where to start digging the cause of this or how to solve it. Looking into the System Preferences on my IMac, it's pretty identical to my MacBook!

I am on step 4.8.1 on the ''oracle installation guide''. I is asking for ''Extract'' user name. I do not recall creating such other than the goldengate user. Also what are the other four users it refers to as in 4.6 Extract Replicat Manager DEFGEN what is the usernames for each of these in the db?

• How to get an unprivileged public status page showing in OpenWrt 12.09 or newer?

  For the use case where the WAN connection goes down, but employees can still access wifi, I'd like them to be able to check on some sort of a public router status page in their problem reports. This may have been available on DD-WRT at one point (or still is), I can't 100% recall anymore.   I'm looking for a Linux pam module that accepts any password for connections from a specific IP. I don't want to disable passwords completely. I need it for migration from one imap server to another (cyrus to zimbra) without knowing every password. I used such a module some six years ago. That was for imap migration too. However, in our current situation I am getting emails that I sent. Is this standard Exchange behavior?   This question already has an answer here: What do green folders mean in Windows 7 Explorer? 2 answers I downloaded a .zip file the other day and extracted it using 7zip from my desktop to my laptop over my home network, when it finished, its filename and the filename of its contents was green. What does this mean, can i revert it to normal, has anything been modified and is there a list somewhere of color codes for windows file names.. ? (I can recall seeing blue somewhere before).

At the same time, switching sessions via ^b sstarted to display all of the windows under each session, and not just the sessions thesmelves: Session Switcher Now Is there any way I can revert to the previous behaviour of only displaying sessions and not the windows belonging to them as well?

• TrueCrypt partition will no longer mount

  I am hoping for some advice to help me out of my situation, with luck. I have a computer running Windows 7 Ultimate x64 with 3 hard disks installed. On my 2TB hard disk 2 (non-system disk) I have 4 partitions. One is for music, another for video, a downloads partition and a 500GB RAW Truecrypt encrypted partition / volume that I had setup to mount with 4 photographs used as keyfiles. The 4 photographs are located in my 'Documents' partition which is one of four partitions on my 1.5TB hard disk 1 (non-system disk) When I setup the disk encryption I did not (I'm 99% sure) create a password, I only used the 4 photograph keyfiles to mount the volume. Recently my 1TB hard disk 0 (system / boot) started to fail so I decided to replace it. I was going to clone the old disk to a new disk but decided that a fresh installation would be more beneficial. Once I had transferred all the required 'User Data' from my old hard disk 0 (C: disk) I discarded it. I reinstalled Truecrypt, pointed to the partition, selected my 4 keyfiles photographs and I mounted my encrypted volume with no issues. In fact I mounted it several times after re-installing Windows and after reboots. Now all of a sudden when I try and mount it I get the message "incorrect keyfile(s) and/or password or not a Truecrypt volume". Now I am not sure why this happened as I do not recall exactly what I did between last mounting the volume successfully and it not mounting. Here are some of the possible things I may have done to cause it to stop working but I am at a loss as to where to start to try and resolve the problem. 1. I had swapped the drive letters to a preferred order. 2. I possibly swapped the physical SATA connectors on the mainboard. 3. I enabled 'Hot Plugging' for the two non-system hard disk SATA ports and the DVD SATA port in the BIOS. I have tried changing the encrypted partition drive letter as suggested in another post but this does not help. On my old system the encrypted drive was drive "X". I have about tried it with all the other free drive letters but alas nothing changes. I do not recall what drive letter was allocated to the encrypted partition before I changed them all. I have not tried to change the letter back to what it possibly was to start with as I am happy with the current layout. I will try this is anyone thinks it would be worthwhile though. I do hope I have managed to convey my situation in an understandable manner and live in hope someone could help me recover years of personal files.   I recall once stumbling on a program that could take multiple application windows and wrap them inside a large window with a tabbed interface. One use of this, for example, would be to wrap multiple instances of Excel into one window, and thus icon on the taskbar. I couldn't find mention of this program via Google, because of the multiple meanings of the word "window". Does anyone remember, or know of, such a program?

• What are some good Photo and Artwork APIs?

  We had an idea for starting a ecards service and were looking into the possibility of populating our site using photo/artwork APIs. Due to legal reasons, Flikr probably won't work, although I've started to scour the web for other options. Basically we just need two functions the user should be able to browse the site's collection and choose a picture we should be able to recall and render a specific picture on our site. From there we should have no problem building our application. The main obstacle is that we're lacking content at the moment. I haven't been able to find too many examples of this being done, so I was wondering if anyone here might know people who have done something similar to what we're trying to do, or know of any leads that might be able to help us out. Suggestions for other APIs that are out there, or forums/communities that might be able to point us in the right direction are also welcome.

• sudo credential caching on by default

  Just installed a minimal ubuntu 12.04, then installed xfce4 and xinit from the command line after first boot. Totally vanilla installation afaik. I'm noticing that sudo caches the password until I issue sudo -k to clear it. This is unexpected behavior in my mind. I've run xfce4 before and don't recall credential caching being on, nor have I experienced it in the many previous ubuntu installs I've had over the years. Is this a new feature of Ubuntu? Is this something that's the result of the minimal install? Is this an xfce default that's been added recently?
